I am so excited to welcome actor and writer Mitch Silpa to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast as part of our milestone 380th episode. He starred in various films such as The Master of Disguise, Along Came Polly, The Boss, The Happytime Murders, and Loners. But moviegoers remember him the best as the Flight Attendant in the 2011 classic comedy Bridesmaids. In 2002, he starred on NBC's The Rerun Show in various roles.Throughout his career, he guest-starred on 2 Broke Girls, Brothers & Sisters, Curb Your Enthusiasm, iCarly, Joey, Malcolm in the Middle, and the Will & Grace revival. He also had recurring roles on Gilmore Girls (Terrance), Desperate Housewives (Jerry), Grey's Anatomy (Tim Ruggles), Nobodies (Ethan), and All Rise (DDA Clayton Bennett). Comedian Paul F. Tompkins chats about his improv comedy podcast The Neighborhood Listen, where he and fellow comedians re-enact posts from the app Nextdoor; poet Safiya Sinclair discusses her memoir How to Say Babylon, in which she recounts growing up Rastafarian in Jamaica under the strict patriarchy of her father; and singer-songwriter Isabeau Waia'u Walker performs her song "All My Friends Think I'm Okay." Past lives. Musical improv. Celine Dion. Nicole Parker joins us on what it's like to leave a show not once, but twice. Nicole Parker has been able to play Celine Dion twice on the New York stage. The first during Martin Short's Fame Becomes Me, and the second during Titanique. She's had to say goodbye to the show once before, but returned for a second run – now having to say her heart will go on again. So what's it like saying goodbye to a show that will keep running while you move on? This is a topic not many actors speak about, so tune in and listen to this hysterical, yet touching episode about Nicole Parker's experience as Celine Dion in Titanique. Nicole Parker is best known for her work on Fox's sketch comedy show Mad TV (2003–2009, 2016), which she was a regular cast member. In July 2009, Parker concluded her run as Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked, a role that she reprised on tour across North America. She voiced Penelope Pitstop in the animated series Wacky Races (2017–2019) and has appeared in the parody films Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie (both 2008). Parker currently co-hosts the Earwolf podcast The Neighborhood Listen, along with comedian Paul F. Tompkins. Titanique is a jukebox musical created by book writers Tye Blue, Marla Mindelle, and Constantine Rousouli, and music supervisor Nicholas Connell. The musical is a parody of the 1997 film Titanic and uses music introduced by Céline Dion. The show premiered in Los Angeles in 2017. It began an off-Broadway run at The Asylum Theatre in June 2022, transferring to the Daryl Roth Theatre in November. The production won the 2023 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Musical and for lead performer (Mindelle) and costume design (Alejo Vietti). The musical follows the main events of the film, with the exception of the present-day framing device; instead of treasure hunters searching for the Heart of the Ocean, Céline Dion surprises visitors at a Titanic museum and hijacks their tour. Dion serves as a Greek chorus for most of the show. The musical uses pop culture references, including allusions to RuPaul's Drag Race and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The critically acclaimed show has played off Broadway since 2022. Get Titanique tickets now. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Nicole Parker (The Neighborhood Listen, Wicked, MADtv) is someone who has me in tears laughing every time I watch or listen to her, and her singing is otherworldly. We discuss fake facial hair, the thrill of seeing a musical, and my favorite podcast neighborhood, Dignity Falls. When we get into the celebrities she is best known for impersonating, Nicole shares how her view on impressions has evolved and reflects on the regret she feels regarding her sketches as Britney Spears in particular. If anyone has a time machine, I would truly like to book it to see Nicole in Funny Girl. Please and thank you. In this episode, hosts Alan and Walt welcome a returning guest from season 3, Pat McCormack of The Golden Rage of TV. If you missed Pat's interview from last season, we highly recommend you go back and listen. Pat does give a short, Readers Digest version of his backstory, leading to the creation of The Golden Rage of TV channel on YouTube. Initially, the channel provided a spotlight to his incredible guitar work. Pat would take classic television themes and put a hard rock guitar edge to them. He admits his masterpiece is Funeral March of a Marionette (strongly associated with the Alfred Hitchcock Show). Runner up to that was his Joe Satriani-like rendition of the Get Smart theme. But, with age and some hearing issues, Pat made a change to creating mini, bite-sized documentaries or did-you-know episodes for his channel. Now, with hundreds of videos to watch, Pat is continuing to find new ways to bring the classic age of TV to life. Pat McCormack hangs out through the remainder of the show, which was an absolute blast. Walt had to review yet another horribly bad film. Then, he and Alan went through some strange news items. Finally, they all weighed in on the entertainment segment, sharing what they have been watching, reading and listening to. WATCHING Walt admits he is still fixated on the Olympics. He continues to binge Hill Street Blues on Hule and is working his way thorugh season two of The Movies That Made Us on Netflix. Alan re-watched the Harrison Ford flick, The Fugitive, with his wife and visiting Father-in-Law. Outside of that, Alan continues to catch the YouTube channels, Popcorn in Bed, Ashleigh Burton and Listening In. Cassie, from Popcorn in Bed, reacted to Jurassic Park, The Grand Budapest Hotel and What About Bob? Ashleigh reacted to The Producers, The Outsiders, Captain American: The First Avenger and Robocop. Listening In broke down a Bond theme that was never used, explored the score to Inside Out and discussed why the song, "When She Loved Me," makes us cry. Pat has been onto a lot of sports, including the Olympics and baseball. However, he admits to unwiding at the end of the day with re-runs of The Munsters on Kozy. READING Alan and Walt both are stuck trying to get back to the Star Trek behind the scenes book. Walt is also going through, "The History of the Road Trip." Pat took us all off guard with the gripping tale from his Nesspresso owner's manual. LISTENING Walt started to listen to the podcasts, The Neighborhood Listen, Dr. Death and Team Never Quit. Alan went back to one of the very first New Age albums he ever heard, Ray Lynch's, "Deep Breakfast." He also revisted Ray Lynch's, "No Blue Thing." Additionally, Alan binged episodes of The Great Escape Minute podcast and Radio Labyrinth. Pat listens to the radio show, "BK on the Air, every Saturday morning on WBHF. He also enjoys the podcasts, You Must Remember This and Gilbert Godfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast.
The Boys welcome back NICOLE PARKER to do her podcast The Neighborhood Listen with posts from Chef Kevin's neighbors.
In this episode, hosts Alan Sanders and Walt Murray get a chance to sit down with Caroline Daley and Michael Caputo of Pod Clubhouse. Alan and Walt were featured on their show, Interview with a Podcast, which dropped in January of 2021. On that show, Caroline and Michael like to bring a spotlight on other podcasts. Alan and Walt had such a fun time being interviewed, they wanted to return the favor here in season 4 of The Wilder Ride. Caroline Daley and Michael Caputo of Pod Clubhouse each started in media separately, but found each other via a radio program. It did not take long for the two of them to realize they fed easily off each other and it led to the creation of a new podcast. The concept behind Pod Clubhouse was to bring other podcasts and voices together in the spirit of collaboration. As Michael says, they believe in the concept that a rising tide lifts all boats. As they embarked, their brand has become an umbrella for several different shows. While they still think of Interview with a Podcast as their primary show, they have added shows related to dozens of television and streaming shows, a movie themed show where they are looking at 52 weeks of Christmas movies, a show called, Decorating the Set and one called PCH Press Pass. There are several other members of the Pod Clubhouse team, all of which can be found on their website under the About Us page. As we wind down the interview portion of the show, Caroline and Michael encourage folks to proactively reach out to them if you would like to join forces on an episode. There is no guarantee, but life is easier for them if people feel comfortable reaching out to them. As the episode continues, Walt dives into his horrible movie review, which was selected by members in our Facebook Listeners Group. Alan and Walt then get into a few news items and then all of them wrap up the show with the entertainment segment. WATCHING Walt finished season 1 of Tin Star on Amazon Prime, giving it an enthusiastic review. He just started to watch Bosch season 7 and highly recommends the Eddie Murphy movie, Mr. Church, streaming on Netflix. Alan also finished season 1 of Tin Star and loved it. With his father-in-law still visiting, he went back to watch some older flicks. They included Iron Man, Kindergarten Cop, Galaxy Quest and Silverado. Alan also encourages the YouTube channel, Ashleigh Burton, who reacted this week to the films of Fried Green Tomatoes and the 1962 Cape Fear. Radio Labyrinth had a YouTube show out discussing Loki. Popcoun in Bed reacted to The Hobbit, The Desolation of Smaug, The Battle of the Five Armies and Schindler's List. Finally, on The Daily Doug, previous guest Doug Halvering reacted to Queensryche's, "Suite Sister Mary," which included a shoutout to our own podcast! Caroline watches, Sex LIfe and Penguin Town, both on Netflix. Michael recommends, Kevin Can F Himself, on AMC, Central Park on Apple TV and Domina on Epix. READING Walt and Alan both continue to work through the Star Trek unauthorized history, "The Fifty-Year Mission: The First 25 Years." Alan also read, "How to Love Your Child More Than You Hate Your Ex," by Dr. Larry Waldman for another show called, The Marriage Fit Podcast. Caroline is currently reading, "Last Summer at the Golden Hotel," by Elyssa Friedland. Michael is working his way through all three volumes of the comic book, Invincible. LISTENING Walt is listening to the podcasts, The Great Trials, Camp Hell: Anneewakee, FBI Retired Case File Review with Jeri Williams and Never Not Funny with Jimmy Pardo. He has also been listening to the album, Hummingbird, by last week's guests, the New Age group 2002. Alan has also been listening to, Hummingbird. The podcasts he has been listening to this week include Measuring the Score, 60MW Podcast, Radio Labyrinth, The Nostalgic Podblast and The Indiana Jones Minute. Caroline has been listening to the Beach Boys Christmas album. She recommends the podcast, The Deep Dive with Jessica and June. Michael is addicted to podcasts, with over 50 subscribed in his Spotify account! He listens to all of the Pod Clubhouse shows, of course. He also suggests, The Neighborhood Listen, Comedy Bang Bang and Gates McFadden Investigates - Who Do You Think You Are?
