Friends of the Rosary,Today is the Memorial Day of St. Pius V, a 16th-century Dominican friar and Pope, known for his intense devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and his promotion of the Holy Rosary.Often referred to as the "Pope of the Rosary," he established the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in 1573, commemorating the victory at Lepanto, and wrote a papal document solidifying the Rosary as a powerful prayer tool. Its document, the Papal Bull "Consueverunt Romani Pontifices," issued in 1569, confirmed the indulgences granted to those who prayed the Rosary.St. Pius V actively encouraged the use of the Rosary, calling upon Christians across Europe to pray it fervently. He lived a life of holiness and reform. In 1572, when he passed away, his final prayer was, "Lord, increase my sufferings but also my patience."Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Friends of the Rosary,Today is the Memorial of St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380), Doctor of the Church and one of the leading figures of the fourteenth century. She influenced the pope to return to Rome from Avignon and had extraordinary influence over popes, kings, sovereign cities, and crowds of disciples. This Italian saint gained significant influence through her life of prayer, extraordinary mortifications, spiritual writings, and her continual appeals for civil peace and the reform of the Church."I have placed you in the midst of your brothers," Christ told her, "so that you can do for them what you cannot do for Me.Since her first vision at the age of six, Catherine had entirely belonged to God.One day, while she was praying in her room, Christ and our Blessed Lady appeared to her. Taking Catherine's hand, our Lady held it up to her Son, who placed on it a ring that was visible to Catherine but never to other people.Catherine received an invisible stigmata, which became visible after her death, and through which she accepted the physical agonies of the crucifixion.Though always suffering terrible physical pain, living for long intervals with practically no food except the Blessed Sacrament, she was full of practical wisdom and spiritual insight. After a prolonged and mysterious agony, during which she was paralyzed from the waist downward, Catherine died, at the age of thirty-three, on April 29, 1380.She famously said, "All the way to heaven is heaven because He said, 'I am the Way.'"Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Friends of the Rosary,Today, Monday of the Second Week of Easter, a day after Divine Mercy Sunday, we celebrate the memorial of St. Louis-Marie de Montfort, a 17th-century French saint revered for his intense devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and the Virgin Mary, especially through the Rosary.St. Louis-Marie wrote the prayer of entrustment to Our Lady, “Totus Tuus ego sum,” which means, “I am all yours.” The late Pope John Paul II took the phrase “Totus Tuus” as his episcopal motto. The saint manifested a love for the poor while he was at school and joined a society of young men who ministered to the poor and the sick on school holidays. When he was 19, he walked 130 miles to Paris to study theology, giving all he had to the poor he met along the way, and made a vow to live solely on alms. With a gift for preaching, he often drew crowds of thousands to hear his sermons in which he encouraged frequent communion and devotion to Mary.He was poisoned by Jansenists, a heretical movement within the Church that believed in absolute Predestination, in which only a chosen few are saved, and the rest damned. He wrote two masterpieces of Marian piety, “The Secret of the Rosary” and “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin,” which he correctly prophesied would be hidden by the devil for a time. The “True Devotion” was discovered 200 years after his death. One year before his death, St. Louis-Marie founded two congregations: the Daughters of Divine Wisdom, which cared for the sick in hospitals and educated poor girls, and the Company of Mary, a missionary order devoted to preaching and spreading devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Friends of the Rosary,Today, the Octave Day of Easter, is the Sunday of Divine Mercy. We rejoice in the mystery of Divine mercy, a gift to humanity that the world needs to accept and understand. From the Beginning, the Divinity revealed His nature as love itself. The love of the Risen Lord forgives, reconciles, and restores life. The origin of Divine Mercy Sunday is from a revelation from Our Lord to the Polish nun Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska.Following Jesus' request, Faustina Kowalska initiated the Divine Mercy devotion. On May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of Saint Faustina, the Roman Catholic Church decreed that the Second Sunday of Easter would be known as Divine Mercy Sunday.Divine mercy is God's refusal to leave us in our fallen condition. Christ Jesus enters our hardened hearts, banishing fear and sin, and He says, “Peace be with you.”"I shall sing forever the Lord's mercy" (Ps 89 [88]).— Jesus to Sr. Faustina | Excerpts from the Diary of Faustina KowalskaOn one occasion, I heard these words: "My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.""[Let] the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but on the contrary, I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy. Write: before I come as a just Judge, I first open wide the door of My mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice."From all My wounds, like from streams, mercy flows for souls, but the wound in My Heart is the fountain of unfathomable mercy. From this fountain spring all graces for souls. The flames of compassion burn Me. I desire greatly to pour them out upon souls. Speak to the whole world about My mercy." On Good Friday, 1937, Jesus requested that St. Faustina make a special Divine Mercy Novena to be recited from Good Friday through the following Saturday in preparation for the Feast of Mercy.Jesus also asked that a picture be painted according to the vision of Himself as the fountain of mercy. He gave her a Chaplet of Divine Mercy to be recited and said that it was appropriate to pray the chaplet at three o'clock each afternoon (the Hour of Great Mercy).Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Friends of the Rosary,Over 250,000 people attended Pope Francis' funeral ceremony at St. Peter's Basilica, including leaders from across the globe. In the funeral homily, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the dean of the College of Cardinals, described the late pontiff as "a pope among the people," making the number of attendees at his funeral symbolic of his impact on others. After the Mass, Francis' wooden coffin was placed on an open-air popemobile and transported to the burial site at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore outside the Vatican. It was a solemn procession from St. Peter's Square through the streets of Rome. Crowds of faithful lined the route as the late pontiff made his final journey to the basilica he visited more than 100 times during his papacy. The historic Marian basilica will be the pope's final resting place, where he will be buried in a simple tomb marked only with the word "Franciscus."Pope Francis specifically requested burial at St. Mary Major, where seven other popes have their final resting place.Pope Francis, the humble pontiff whose acts of inclusiveness, modesty, and mercy rippled through his 12-year papacy, was laid to rest Saturday in a service he deliberately simplified.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Friends of the Rosary,While we continue to pay our final respects to Pope Francis and mourners fill St. Peter's Basilica, we read today (John 21:1-14) about how the Risen Jesus appears to seven disciples on the shore of the Sea of Tiberias. It was the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples after being raised from the dead.None of them dared to ask him, "Who are you?" because they realized it was the Lord. John the Apostle said to Peter, "It is the Lord."Jesus takes failing, scared fishermen and fulfills his promise to make them fishers of men.To us, he does likewise, abolishing the slavery of sin and granting salvation in its place.Without God, our nets will be empty; with God, they will be filled, as all things are possible. The Lord knows that sometimes we all need a little reassurance.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Friends of the Rosary,As we continue to mourn the loss of our beloved Pope Francis, during the celebration of the Easter resurrection of Christ, we are consoled and strengthened by his life of faith, hope, and love for God's people, especially the poor and marginalized. In his last days, Pope Francis bore his suffering and pain with courage. We, too, can learn from his example by living our daily challenges and trials with much trust, faith, and patience.Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich described Pope Francis, who always found time for the poor and marginalised, as “behaving like Christ, open to everybody, speaking about his Father, speaking about mercy.”St. Peter's Basilica continues to host a steady stream of pilgrims, clergy, and dignitaries as they pay their final respects to Pope Francis, whose body was placed on public display on Wednesday morning.Over 50,000 visitors bid farewell to the Holy Father before Saturday's funeral, which will be presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.• Today, Thursday within the Octave of Easter, the Church honors Sts. Mary of Cleophas and Salome, disciples of Christ. These two saints were among the women who went to the sepulchre on Easter Sunday to anoint the Body of the Lord. There, they heard the proclamation of the Resurrection.Mary, the wife of Clopas, is the mother of James the Less, while Salome is the wife of Zebedee, the mother of James and John.• In today's reading (Luke 24:35 - 48), Christ Jesus appears alive again to his followers. He shows them his wounds in a reiteration of the judgment of the cross, reminding what the world did when the Author of life.He also said “Shalom”—“Peace be with you,” opening a new spiritual as our Savior. The killing of the Son of God is addressed not through an explosion of divine retribution but through a radiation of divine love. Friends of the Rosary,Today, Tuesday within the Octave of Easter, we continue to pay tribute to the life and legacy of Pope Francis as we pray through our daily Rosary for the repose of his soul. The Vatican announced that Francis, the first pope from Latin America, passed away due to a sudden stroke and irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse after 38 days of hospitalization, and revealed that his will requested a humble tomb with the inscription "Franciscus" at St. Mary Major, one of the four major basilicas in Rome. This burial place contains the Salus Populi Romani, an ancient icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the health of the Roman People. Pope Francis was always there, thanking Jesus through Mary. The funeral Mass will take place this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. local time in St. Peter's Square (4:00 p.m. ET).Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals, will preside at the Mass, which will be concelebrated by Patriarchs, Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops, and priests from across the globe.Earlier, on Wednesday, the coffin containing the Pope's body will be carried from the chapel of the Casa Santa Marta to St. Peter's Basilica, so that the faithful may pay their respects until Friday, and then to the Basilica of St. Mary Major for entombment. In his Easter Sunday homily, Francis called "Christians to actively seek the risen Jesus in their daily lives", urging believers to 'run' just as the disciples did after discovering the empty tomb.“We must look for him without ceasing,” emphasized the Pope. “Because if he has risen from the dead, then he is present everywhere, he dwells among us, he hides himself and reveals himself even today in the sisters and brothers we meet along the way.”In today's Gospel (John 20:11-18), we find Mary Magdalene weeping by the tomb of the risen Lord.Jesus said, "Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers..."The idea is not to cling to Jesus, but to proclaim what He has accomplished.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Friends of the Rosary,In today's Gospel reading (John 13:21-33, 36-38), we see Christ, the Suffering Servant of the Lord, in the Last Supper with Judas Iscariot present, when Satan entered the betrayer.Jesus, deeply troubled, announces that one of the Twelve will betray Him and that even Peter will repeatedly disown Him. (“I say to you, the cock will not crowbefore you deny me three times.”)When Judas had left, Jesus said,“Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him at once.”This passage shows the striking contrast between Judas' rejection of the light of the world and Peter's repentance, which brings forgiveness. As with the prodigal son, his filial dignity is restored, and the outpouring of the Divine Mercy turns him into the rock on which the Church of the Risen One is built.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Memorial Day of St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380), virgin and Doctor of the Church and a leading saint in the fourteenth century who acquired great influence with her life of prayer, extraordinary mortifications, and the spread of her spiritual writings. She was a tertiary in the Dominican Order, favored with visions from age of seven. Her miracles and ecstasies were remarkable. A helper and a consoler in every need, her reputation of sanctity soon spread even to secular matters. Thousands came to see her, to be converted by her. The priests associated with her received extraordinary faculties of absolution. She journeyed to Avignon and persuaded Pope Gregory XI to return to Rome. Even though she barely reached the age of thirty-three, her accomplishments place her among the great women of the Middle Ages. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!St. Catherine of Siena, Pray for Us! Friends of the Rosary, In honor of Mary, the Immaculate Mother, we praise and thank the Lord through the Joyful Mysteries we pray today. And we continue reading John 14. In today's Gospel (Jn 14:7-14), Lord Jesus reveals the coinherence that obtains within the very existence of God. He says to his disciples: "The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,or else, believe because of the works themselves." "And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it." Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, At that time, Lord Jesus summarized in a few words the meaning of our human existence (Jn 14:1-6): “I am the way and the truth and the life.No one comes to the Father except through me.” He explained to the disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.In my Father's house, there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?And if I go and prepare a place for you,I will come back again and take you to myself,so that where I am you also may be.Where I am going you know the way.” Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Feast of St. Mark, the Evangelist, the author of the second Gospel, a Jewish Christian baptized and instructed by St. Peter. The Gospel of Mark, written in 50 A.D. for Roman Gentile converts, records St. Peter's preaching about Our Lord. It rarely quotes the Old Testament and carefully explains Jewish customs, rites, and words. It excels in portraying Christ's and His hearers' emotions and affections. St. Mark accompanied St. Paul and his cousin St. Barnabas in the evangelization of Cyprus before he became the companion and secretary of St. Peter in Rome about the year 42 A.D. St. Mark preached in Egypt, especially in Alexandria, and was martyred there. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! St. Mark, Pray for Us! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, Jesus cried out and said, as we read today (Jn 12:44-50): "I came into the world as light,so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness. And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them,I do not condemn him,for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world." In this passage of the Gospel of John, Jesus made clear, once again, that he and the Father are one. God from God, Light from Light, as we say in the Creed. Christ is the Lord, the Holy One who governs the universe, with absolute dominion over nature — visible and invisible. And He came into the world as light to save our eternal souls. Friends of the Rosary, People who do not believe are not among the Lord Jesus' flock. They refuse to be part of the Kingdom of God. These are truly blind and, sadly, do not manage well their free will. They might be dominant in our society. At that time, Jesus the Good Shepherd said to the Jews (Jn 10:22-30) in Jerusalem during the feast of the Dedication, as we read in the New Testament today: “You do not believe, because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. ” “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.” Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Friends of the Rosary, Jesus said — as we read today (Jn 10:1-10): “I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved.” “I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” Lord Jesus is calling every one of us by our name. The Good Shepherd knows what's hidden in our hearts, and He is leading us out to our salvation and communion with Him. We are invited to avoid following strangers, thieves, and robbers. "I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me,just as the Father knows me and I know the Father;and I will lay down my life for the sheep." Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Friends of the Rosary, Christianity and the Catholic Church — the continuation of Christ's work among us — has existed for almost two thousand years. It's the longest institution that has ever existed on earth. Without the Holy Spirit and the certainty of the Resurrection — that we celebrate on Easter — our faith would be worthless. "If Christ has not risen," St. Paul says in 1 Cor. 15:17, "vain is your faith, for you are still in your sins." But "Christ has risen from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep." His resurrection is the guarantee of our resurrection. We will all rise in glory if we have been faithful during our time in this valley of tears. The foundation of our faith is the Word of God. Today, we pray the Luminous Mysteries from San Diego, CA. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, And He will deliver us from the perils of eternal death, to enjoy the endless happiness of Heaven. We pray today's Glorious Mysteries from San Diego, CA. By following the example of the risen Christ, we prepare ourselves to imitate His humility. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we might not at first recognize that Christ Jesus is alive and walking with us. But through constant prayer, especially the Rosary of Mary, we will open our minds to Jesus. He will restore the virtues of faith, hope, and joy in us for this earthly life. And He will deliver us from the perils of eternal death so that we may enjoy the endless happiness of Heaven. Today, we pray the Glorious Mysteries from San Diego, CA. Friends of the Rosary, Our spiritual life is based — or it should be based — in one single premise: “Believe in the One sent by God the Father.” The risen Jesus gives us through his disciples another critical advice—as we read today (Jn 6:22-29) “Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.” This way, when we start the third week of Easter, we are invited to seek what's above, avoiding to think from an earthly perspective. Christ suffered for us, leaving you an example that you should follow his steps,” St. Peter says in one of his epistles. Jesus didn't deserve to suffer for did no sin, and nevertheless was subject to persecution and injustice. We pray today's Joyful Mysteries from San Diego, CA. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Friends of the Rosary, Today, on the Third Sunday of Easter, while we celebrate the risen Jesus we pray hard for peace in the Middle East. Yesterday, Iran fired hundreds of exploding drones and missiles in its first direct attack on Israel after years of a shadow war. We invoke Our Lady of Peace, the Blessed Mother, so people open their minds to Jesus and understand the necessity of peace in the world. Jesus, the Prince of Life and Peace, is more alive than ever and is on our side. "Peace be with you," told the apostles when he stood in their midst, as we read in the Gospel today (Lk 24:35-48). Christ walked with his first followers when they had lost all hope and restored their faith and joy. Today, when war tensions escalate, we must humbly open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, allowing ourselves to be helped. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, Christ Jesus, who demonstrates his authority over nature, comes to save us, encouraging us not to be afraid. As we read today (Jn 6:16-21), Jesus walks on the stirred sea heading into the boat with the terrified disciples, and says to them: "It is I. Do not be afraid." In the Scriptures, the sea was something to be feared. Water was a symbol of danger and chaos. The boat, with Peter and the other followers, is evocative of the Church, which moves through all types of storms across history. So Jesus walking on water symbolizes God's control over the elements, including the chaotic sea and the powers of darkness and disorder. The Spirit of the Lord hovers over the surface of the waters. The faithful should not fear the chaotic elements of nature or life. Instead, we should place our complete trust in our Holy God. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, St. Paul wrote that God's love for us is an excess since it exceeds and surpasses what reason can comprehend and desire. He also calls the love of God "foolishness". This foolishness is reparation for that other foolishness which is sin. In today's Gospel reading, we learn: "The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him.Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, (Jn 3:31-36).""The one who comes from above is above all.The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things. But the one who comes from heaven is above all.He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony." Friends of the Rosary, We celebrated yesterday the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. Today, we possess the knowledge Mary didn't have at the time of the Annunciation — the knowledge about the plans of her Son, the Incarnate Word, would unfold on earth. We are fortified by Mary's trust in God at the Annunciation and encouraged to trust the Divine Mercy and the Divine Will to be open to God's redirection of our lives. In choosing to follow God, we trust in Jesus. We surrender to Him to be molded and “changed into his likeness,” as it is necessary for one's growth in holiness (2 Cor 3:18). Trusting God, as Mary did at the Annunciation, ultimately opens the gates of Heaven for us. God only desires the good of our souls. Learning to trust Him in all the situations of our lives is the answer to bringing the true peace and hope we long for. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, the first Joyful Mystery. The Holy Spirit comes through the Archangel Gabriel to Mary and imparts to her the gift of all gifts, a divine Son. In humble acceptance, the Virgin Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be [done] to me according to your word" (Lk 1:38). Having been conceived immaculately, Mary's body became the Living Tabernacle of the Lord. Accordingly, she answered in nearly the same words her Divine Son used on many occasions — thy will be done. The Annunciation can be thought of as a precursor to Pentecost. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us! Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, Today is the Sunday of Divine Mercy, the Octave Day of Easter, and we confidently say: Jesus, I trust in You, have mercy upon us and the whole world. The Divine Mercy Sunday origin is from a revelation to the Polish nun Saint Faustina Maria Kowalska, the mystic of the twentieth century who initiated the Divine Mercy devotion. Between 1930 and 1938 Jesus requested to her numerous times a Feast of Divine Mercy. On May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of Saint Faustina, the Vatican decreed that the Second Sunday of Easter would be Divine Mercy Sunday. God the Father revealed his nature of pure love through the Scriptures and the life, Passion, death, and Resurrection of his Son. It's the mystery of God's divine mercy, a gift of humanity, described by Pope Saint John Paul II as “the greatest of the attributes and perfections of God” (Dives in misericordia, 13). The risen Jesus offers His love that pardons, reconciles, and gives peace. ----------Jesus to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska—Excerpted from Diary of Sr. M. Faustina Kowalska On one occasion, I heard these words: "My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy. "[Let] the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice. "From all My wounds, like from streams, mercy flows for souls, but the wound in My Heart is the fountain of unfathomable mercy. From this fountain spring all graces for souls. The flames of compassion burn Me. I desire greatly to pour them out upon souls. Speak to the whole world about My mercy." Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, On this Sunday of Divine Mercy, we will reflect upon the revelation of God's mercy. Christ didn't come to condemn but to forgive, to show mercy. We intend to be filled with the Holy Spirit, trying to learn from the early Church when the first Christians dedicated themselves to the good of the other, as we read this Easter in the Act of the Apostle. They were selfless and generous. They lived with the faith that conquers the world. And we recall the words of Saint Augustine, "Mercy is heartfelt sympathy for another's distress, impelling us to succor him if we can."Let's ask for the intercession of Mary Mother of Mercy. Friends of the Rosary, For a third time, the Risen Jesus revealed himself to a large group of Apostles after being raised from the dead (Jn 21:1-14). The passage occurred in the Sea of Tiberias (Sea of Galilee). It was before the arrival of the Holy Spirit in Pentecost. There were Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee's sons (James and John), and two others of his disciples. The Apostles had returned to their old fishing job. Having fished all night and caught nothing, they returned to shore early in the morning. Jesus was standing on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.Jesus said to them, "Children, have you caught anything to eat?" When they disappointedly replied, “No,” He told them, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some”. Without further comment, they threw their net out and caught 153 large fish, collectively far too many and too heavy a catch for them to haul onboard the boat. John, intuitively recalling Jesus' previous miraculous catch of fish, recognized that it was Jesus standing on the shore and he said to Simon Peter, “It is the Lord”. When Jesus said, “Bring some of the fish you have just now caught,” Simon Peter went and dragged the remainder of the untorn net out of the water and retrieved some fish from it. Jesus then said, “Come have breakfast” and he “took the bread and gave it to them and did the same with the fish”. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, Christ Jesus, the Holy One risen from the dead by the Father after completing his redemptive mission, appeared to His eleven apostles, as Luke tells in the reading of today (Lk 24:35-48). While they were still speaking about how two of the disciples recognized in the breaking of the bred, the Lord stood in their midst and showing his hands and feet said to them, "Peace be with you." He said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Mosesand in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. And he said to them, "Thus it is written that the Christ would sufferand rise from the dead on the third dayand that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his nameto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things." Friends of the Rosary, In today's Gospel of Luke (Lk 24:13-35), we read the marvelous passage of the disciples being enlightened by Jesus on the road to Emmaus. He said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are!How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these thingsand enter into his glory?” The two disciples did not understand the explanation of Our Lord's act of self-emptying himself out of love, even unto death, taking upon himself the sins of the world to take them away — the mystery of redemption through suffering. Jesus explained this first to them, and then: "He took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,but he vanished from their sight." The Eucharist made present His love — more powerful than sin and death.Jesus was made known to them in the breaking of the bread. Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary, In the Gospel today (Jn 20:11-18), Mary Magdalene stays outside the tomb weeping. She is asked first by the angels and then by the Lord himself by she is weeping. Jesus calls Mary Magdalene by her name, and she recognizes Him. Her pessimism disappears. She goes from fear to joy! We all are consoled by the truth that Jesus is seeing, knowing, and loving us, even when we feel troubled, discouraged, and far away from Him. Also, Jesus said to her, “Stop holding on to me,for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them,‘I am going to my Father and your Father,to my God and your God.” Christ's commands to “stop holding on” means He desires greater intimacy than merely standing externally. He wants us to receive the Holy who will transform us into other Christ. Jesus is Risen! Is risen indeed! Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! To Jesus through Mary! Friends of the Rosary: Today, the Fourth Sunday of Easter is Good Shepherd Sunday. Christ Himself is the Good Shepherd, who knows each one of His sheep and gives His life for them. He said: "My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27) The Divine Shepherd was willing to sacrifice everything for his sheep. He did not let suffering, persecution, or rejection deter Him from His responsibility of caring for us in a complete way. No matter what "wolf" comes our way, we must know of the perfect love of Jesus Christ. He also wants us to return this gift to Him by offering this same unwavering commitment to one another. Let's reflect, today, on how well we imitate the Good Shepherd. Let Him shepherd us so that we may shepherd others by being instruments of his deep love and commitment. Friends of the Rosary: Today is the Memorial of St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380), Virgin and a doctor of the Church, along with Teresa of Avila and a very influential saint. Pope John Paul II proclaimed her patron saint of Europe. She is also the patron saint of journalists, media, and nursing. St. Catherine of Siena was an extraordinary laywoman in the Middle Ages. Her continual appeals for civil peace and reform of the Church make her one of the leading figures of the fourteenth century. She journeyed to Avignon and persuaded Pope Gregory XI to return to Rome. She made peace between worldly princes. The heads of Church and State bowed to her words. St. Catherine of Siena acquired great influence through her life of prayer and extraordinary mortifications as well as by the spread of her spiritual writings. A tertiary of the Dominican Order, she was favored with visions of Christ from the age of seven. Unbelievable were her austerities, her miracles, her ecstasies. The reputation of her sanctity soon spread abroad; thousands came to see her, to be converted by her. The priests associated with her were unable to accommodate the crowds of penitents. She was a helper and a consoler in every need.St. Catherine of Siena died at age 33 in Rome, and most of her body is buried there at Santa Maria Sopra Minerva Basilica. Saint Catherine of Siena is remembered as a powerful example of faith, humility, and selflessness, and is revered by Catholics around the world as a model of holiness and devotion to God. Her feast day is celebrated with special Masses and other devotions in many Catholic churches. Friends of the Rosary: Today, April 28th, the Universal Church celebrates the memorial day of Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, a 17th-century saint who is revered for his intense devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, especially through the Holy Rosary. "Mary is the safest, easiest, shortest, and most perfect way of approaching Jesus," he wrote. In this spirituality, he preached the total consecration to Jesus through Mary and the fidelity to the Cross. He wrote: "The Incarnation of the Word is for him the absolute central reality." Born in Montfort, Brittany (France), in 1673, this priest and poet took the name Marie at his confirmation. St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort formulated the prayer of entrustment to Our Lady, "Totus Tuus ego sum," which means, "I am all yours." The late Pope John Paul II took the phrase "Totus Tuus" as his episcopal motto. Another motto of this saint was "God Alone", repeated over 150 times in his writings. A gifted preacher, he often drew crowds of thousands to hear his sermons in which he encouraged frequent communion (not the custom then) and devotion to Mary. But he also met with opposition, especially from the Jansenists, a heretical movement within the Church that believed in absolute Predestination, in which only a chosen few are saved, and the rest damned. Much of France was influenced by Jansenism, including many bishops, who banished St. Loius Marie from preaching in their dioceses. He was even poisoned by Jansenists in La Rochelle, but survived, though he suffered ill health after. While recuperating from the effects of the poisoning, he wrote the masterpiece of Marian piety, "True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin," which correctly prophesied it would be hidden by the devil for a time. His seminal work was discovered 200 years after his death. The book became a classic explanation of Marian's devotion and the basis for the consecration to Mary. Louis Marie de Montfort also wrote another masterpiece, The Secret of the Rosary. [PDF, free Download] He founded the Missionaries of the Company of Mary (for priests and brothers) and the Daughters of Divine Wisdom, who cared especially for the sick in hospitals and the education of poor girls. On this special day, we will celebrate at 7:00 pm in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, in Greenwich, Connecticut, a Holy Mass for the eternal rest of María Blanca Gonzalez de Amigot, Blanki. At 6:30 pm it will take place the Holy Rosary – today the Sorrowful Mysteries. María Blanca went to the Father on October 28, 2021, eighteen months ago today. The Amigot Gonzalez family invites everyone to the event. Friends of the Rosary:At that time, Jesus revealed to the crowds (Jn 6:44-51) that He was — and He is — the bread of life."I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world."Indeed, when we take the living bread of Christ we become alive in a way that we were not before. This is why Jesus says that He is the bread that comes down from heaven. As Bishop Barron wrote, "Heaven is the realm of God, and therefore it is a realm of love.""What is the Eucharist, this heavenly food, but a participation in the love between the Father and the Son? In the Eucharist, the sacrifice of Christ is made present, and the sacrifice of Christ is the fullest expression of the love of the Father and the Son."
