In this episode of the Secular Buddhism Podcast, Noah Rasheta explores the Tibetan Buddhist concept of bardos, traditionally understood as transitional states between life, death, and rebirth. Taking a secular approach, Noah reinterprets bardos as a framework for understanding all of life's transitions, both big and small.Life is constantly shifting—between moments, relationships, jobs, emotions, and even identities. Each transition, whether minor or major, offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and make intentional choices about what we bring forward and what we leave behind. Noah discusses the six bardos in Tibetan Buddhism and reimagines them in an everyday context, showing how they can help us navigate change with mindfulness and presence.Through personal stories and practical reflections, this episode encourages listeners to embrace the space between what was and what will be—not as something to fear, but as a fertile ground for growth, renewal, and greater self-awareness.Tune in to explore how recognizing bardos in daily life can help you move through transitions with clarity, resilience, and wisdom. Meet Ryan...My powered paragliding journey began many years ago, like most everyone's does, with obsessing over YouTube videos of people flying. I wanted to find a way to get into aviation but didn't want to shell out the kind of money it takes to learn to fly and own a fixed-wing plane. A pilot friend of mine told me about PPG and I couldn't get enough. I finally decided that I wasn't going to waste any more time – so I contacted Mojo's Flight School in Charlotte, NC and started classes. About 5 years later, I became one of the owners. Today, we're 11 years old and have 3 sites across the Carolinas. I have my PPG1, PPG2, PPG3, WLPPG1, WLPPG2, WLPPG3 ratings and obtained my Foot Launch instructor, Wheel Launch instructor, and tandem instructor ratings from Noah Rasheta. Since the first day my feet left the ground, this is all I want to do. I love to fly because it is just me and the air with no distractions and no problems. The sky is where I go to decompress, to escape the day-to-day grind, and to have an absolute blast. When I'm not flying, or talking about flying, I'm thinking about flying, scouting for new places to fly, and checking the weather for the next flyable day. I'm passionate about this sport and helping others to experience that absolute euphoria that comes with flying a powered paraglider. I have worked to build on our legacy of integrity, safety, and community. It is important to me that all the students that train with Mojo's leave with light, high-quality gear and learn to be great pilots that are safe and care about the integrity of our sport. Outside of Paramotoring, I like to spend time on Lake Norman on my boat, get out in nature with my Rhodesian Ridgeback named Walt, explore the local brewery scene, and travel.

He explores the parallels between his new role in data infrastructure and the inner workings of the human mind, drawing insightful connections between hardware, software, and the beliefs that shape our experiences.Noah dives deep into the concept of the cognitive cycle, explaining how our beliefs influence our perceptions, thoughts, emotions, actions, and ultimately, our reality. He emphasizes the importance of examining and updating our beliefs, likening them to the software that runs on the hardware of our brains.Through relatable examples and personal anecdotes, Noah illustrates how our beliefs can impact our day-to-day lives, from fear of public speaking to the way we react to challenges. He encourages listeners to be introspective and mindful of the beliefs that drive their actions and to consider updating their "mental software" to better navigate life's complexities.Join Noah on this thought-provoking journey as he shares valuable insights from his own life experiences and invites listeners to reflect on the interconnectedness of their thoughts, emotions, and actions in the pursuit of inner peace and personal growth. Meet Jonathan - I was Born and raised and live in Flagstaff AZ. Growing up, my dad would always say that our family motto was “Work hard and play harder.” I've tried my best to do that. Me and my wife have six kids (all boys), and a garage full of toys that reflect my long history of playing with things that have a throttle or that float or that fly. I took an into paragliding flight in 1996 off of Haleakala in Maui and still remember that sense of wonder as the ground dropped away. I learned to windsurf when I was a teenager, and then learned to kiteboard in my 20's then started playing with hydrofoils in my 30's. As a kid I was constantly “designing” sail boats and catamarans and hydrofoil catamarans and wanted to be an airline pilot or an aeronautical engineer when I grew up. I didn't become either of those things, but the curiosity remained. In 2020, a friend of mine sent me a video of Tucker Gott flying around Sedona & Meteor Crater, which are near Flagstaff, and it was like a switch flipped in my head. I knew I had to learn to fly Paramotors. I signed up for training with Epic Paramotor and trained in Eagle Mountain Ut with Noah Rasheta in May of 2021. I have around 170 hours of PPG flight time in. As a result of how much I love flying PPG, I decided I wanted to learn how to fly airplanes & bush planes, so I began training for my Private Pilot Certificate in September of 2023. I have 8 General Aviation training flights and 15 landings under my belt so far. My favorite things about flying PPG are the ability to explore new, often shockingly beautiful areas, the sense of freedom combined with the requirement for self-sufficiency, and the many incredible people I've met thru this sport. The first interview of Season 5! The first interview of 2023! I am so excited!   I'm also delighted to have had some really beautiful moments with my guest, Noah Rasheta.   Noah's probably best known as the host of the Secular Buddhism podcast, and an author, and a paragliding instructor. I was really moved by his story – from Dan Greening, a previous guest – and I really benefited from his story, and his Vibe.   The “Vibe” is a hard concept to define. For me, it's something about what a person has really integrated into themself, versus just what we say or claim to have learned.   There's a lot of people who talk about Buddhism. Who are interested in Enlightenment. Who have spent years (or decades) studying it. And I've met quite a few of those in my travels and my studies.   And then there's the sense I get when I'm around someone who feels “different”. And that's the Vibe. That there's more than an intellectual understanding, but a lived experience behind the words.   It's what Uncle Jamal would call “Knowledge of the Heart” as opposed to “Knowledge of the Tongue”. And Noah has it.   And when someone has it, it almost doesn't matter what's being communicated out loud. Because the real communication is a bass note, almost inaudible, below the words, and more impactful than the words could ever hope to be.   Cherished listeners: Noah Rasheta.   Show Links: Voicemail:  https://www.speakpipe.com/10khshow Email: info@10kh.show Twitter: @10khshow Guest References: https://secularbuddhism.com/   https://secularbuddhism.com/author/noahrasheta/   https://www.amazon.com/Secular-Buddhism-Noah-Rasheta/dp/1366922735   About our sponsor: 10,000 Heroes is brought to you by Momentum Lab.    I normally refer to Momentum Lab as a coaching program or a goal accelerator.   But you could also call it a Master's degree in life.   When you join Momentum Lab, you get crystal clear on what it is you actually want. Who you want to be, what you want to do, and how you want to contribute.   And then we get into all the painful details of what has been blocking you this whole time.    Once that's all in the clear, we can give you the knowledge, tools and support to actualize your vision.    Sometimes that's a spreadsheet. Sometimes it's a mindset hack. Sometimes it's a lecture and sometimes it's a hug.   Our only attachment is to your higher self.   So when you're ready to be the next version of yourself and your business for your family, or just for your own sense of fulfillment, drop me a line ;)   www.momentumlab.com   #momentumlab #greaterheights #noahrasheta #secularbuddhism #newage #purpose #easternphilosphy #magic #transformation #guru #youaretheguru #uncertainty #lifetransformation#2023 #happynewyear #Vibe
