Welcome to the Season 1 finale! We end the first season with a storytime episode. This week's storytime is a two-parter. We begin with a press conference from an extra-terrestrial invader. Their message is not one of peace but one that forces reflection by the people of Earth. Then, you'll hear the brief story of the origins of the podcast's sign-off “Everyone has an important story to tell” and how the two are linked. It's been an absolutely fantastic first season! Here at Once There Was a Podcast we cannot express our thanks and our gratitude enough. Your support has been truly wonderful and fantastic. We look forward to sharing more stories and introducing you to more storytellers next year! In the time being, stay tuned for a few bonus stories around the holidays! He shares insights into the book's development and how his Iranian-American identity and the global pandemic influenced its themes of grief, healing, and identity. The episode delves into the nuances of writing for a broad audience, the interplay between personal and cultural narratives, and the timeless appeal of mythical beings across cultures. He has written his memoirs, “Once There Was a Boy Who Survived.”
What is so bad about home that you cannot go back there and settle? Meshack answers this question in his debut novel, Once There Was a Star, and in this episode. Once There Was A Star, made me realize what privilege looks like and to appreciate how we indeed experience life differently. While there were real victims of war, I only experienced the tragedy of war in a book. When I read the book, I found myself so fully immersed in it that I almost failed to draw the line between my real-life experience and what was in the book. I found myself leaving home while looking over my shoulder so that anything looking suspicious of another war would find me alert. It required me to keep reminding myself that the war was just in the book I was reading. Weeks ago, I sat down with the author, Meshack Yobby, to talk about the relevance of this book, why he chose war for his debut novel, and how heavy the creation process was. If you have read this book or are a lover of a good story, this is the episode for you. *** LINKS NABU Network shop. Remus and Sirius are a recently established couple, blissful in the honeymoon stage. But when a bit of hormonally-motivated irresponsibility winds up with Sirius being bitten and infected by Remus, the fallout threatens to be too much for the Marauders. Chain-smoking, self-loathing, and poor communication abound, all set to a soundtrack of contemporary 1970s music. Gene and Randall present author/screenwriter/producer for Bryce Zabel for a wide-ranging discussion that includes super heroes and his alternative history about what many regard as the best rock group of all time, "Once There Was a Way: What if The Beatles Stayed Together?" But the main topic is about the possibility of UFO disclosure. Nearly 10 years after the speculative fiction story he and Richard M. Dolan wrote about the subject, "A.D. After Disclosure: When the Government Finally Reveals the Truth About Alien Contact," Zabel talks about what he regards as the improved prospects for the secret of the UFOs — or UAPs — finally being revealed. But what about theories about demonic UFOs, or whether other countries might be poised to reveal the truth as to what they are before the U.S. finally gets around to it? Note: This interview continues on the February 16, 2020 episode of After The Paracast.
Some prog metal fans will know the name Jessica Lehto from her involvement in the bands Factory of Dreams (Episode 044) and Beto Vazquez Infinity. But there's a softer side to this Swedish singer/songwriter with the angelic voice, and that is reflected in her solo project, Once There Was. The style of music under this name has been fluid over the years, but the most recent release Breathe, Be, Bleed is being called "electro pop opera." Whatever you describe it as, it contains haunting vocals and harmonies, with synthesizer accompaniment ranging from driving to quietly symphonic. Host Mark Ashby speaks with her about how Once There Was has changed over the years and how it differs from other albums she guests on, why she's content being mostly a studio musician, and how digital-only releases suit artists like her. Find her online at www.jessicalehto.com. On episode 47 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, Ryan speaks with Bryce Zabel, television/film producer and writer. They discuss his recently released alternate history novel, Once There Was a Way: What if the Beatles Stayed Together? We know The Beatles let it be, but what if they worked it out instead? It's a great new adventure full of twists and turns that never were, but might have been. Then, Zabel brings us down the fascinating trail he's traveled in the worlds of ufology and Hollywood and where they often intersect. After his recent talk at the International UFO Congress, Zabel navigates the crazy maze of UFOs and where he stands on the way we perceive both the phenomena and the often divisive study of it. We then get a sneak peek at some of his UFO films and television projects in development, including exclusive news on a very well known actor who recently signed on to play a major role in one of the projects. His most recent nonfiction work, “Dark Emu: Black Seeds: Agriculture or Accident?” describes in depth the land management and agricultural practices of the Australian Aborigines and includes excerpts from early explorers’ diaries that demonstrate the extent to which modern retellings of early Aboriginal history understate the sophistication of these systems.
