A to nieprzypadkowa postać. A więc wojna.
In this episode of Citizens Climate Radio, hosts Horace Mo and Erica Valdez bring together diverse voices to discuss current efforts to address climate change. Horace Mo speaks with Ann E Burg, a celebrated author known for compelling historical novels for young readers, about her newly published novel “Force of Nature–A Novel of Rachel Carson” which opens a new door for readers to experience the life of Carson, a well-known environmental pioneer in the US, by reading her field notes and Ann's innovative writing. Erica Valdez discusses the American fossil fuel divestment movement, highlighting the work of younger generations. She has a conversation with Aly Horton, another student taking the initiative to promote the fossil fuel divestment movement on their campus at Northern Arizona University. In the Resilience Corner, Tamara Staton speaks on mastering the banjo and how this uniquely relates to addressing climate change. Finally, we have a Good News story from Peterson Toscano regarding South Africa's energy supply. Ann E Burg Explores Rachel Carson's Life In this episode, author Ann E Burg dives into her latest work, “Force of Nature.” This novel is inspired by Rachel Carson's groundbreaking environmental book Silent Spring. It is beautifully illustrated by Sophie Blackall. After World War II, DDT became a common pesticide in neighborhoods and farms; however, it had dire consequences for ecosystems, entering the food chain and harming various species. This alarming situation inspired Rachel Carson to write and publish her now-famous book, “Silent Spring”, in 1962. Ann E Burg tells us how Carson's book "explored DDT but also started with a fable for tomorrow. It suggested what life would be like if spring came and no birds were there to sing." Ann E. Burg considers Rachel Carson a role model for her scientific rigor and environmental advocacy. Carson's ability to illuminate the beauty and complexity of nature-inspired Burg to see the world differently. This novel, “Force of Nature,” is not merely a recounting of Carson's life but an immersive experience of her world. Burg hopes readers will see the world through Carson's eyes and appreciate the interconnectedness of all life. About Ann E Burg Ann E Burg's debut novel, “All the Broken Pieces,” was named an ALA Best Book for Young Adults, a Jefferson Cup award winner, and an IRA Notable Book for a Global Society, among its many honors. Her subsequent novels in verse have garnered multiple awards and starred reviews. “Serafina's Promise” was named an ALA Notable, a Parents' Choice Gold Award Winner, and an NAACP Image Award finalist. “Unbound” won the New York Historical Society Children's History Book Prize, the Christopher Award, and an Arnold Adoff Poetry Honor. “Flooded–A Requiem for Johnstown” was a Bank Street College Claudia Lewis Award winner, a Bank Street College Best Children's Book (with outstanding merit), and a Junior Library Guild selection. Before becoming a full-time writer, Burg worked as an English teacher for ten years. She lives in Rhinebeck, New York, with her family. To learn more about Ann E Burg, visit her online at anneburg.com The Student-Led Drive for Fossil Fuel Divestment Erica Valdez discusses the fossil fuel divestment movement, highlighting the efforts on her campus, Northern Arizona University (NAU). Climate change is a human-caused phenomenon in which the fossil fuel industry plays a significant role. Erica dives into what divestment is and how it may be one of the most effective steps that institutions can take to slow climate change. Erica invites Aly Horton, president of Fossil Free NAU, a student-led group demanding complete divestment. Aly explains the club's efforts and goals to hold the university accountable to its environmental commitments. Aly and Erica also discuss recent pushback from the university administration. Nevertheless, Fossil Free NAU remains determined to continue its mission because it is just a small chapter of an international movement. Although it may be difficult, many institutions have already divested from fossil fuels. Aly shares inspiring advice to organizers worldwide who are working towards divestment. Resilience Corner For this month's Resilience Corner, Tamara Staton draws parallels between her desire to master the banjo and the overwhelming task of addressing climate change. When practicing banjo, she faces common emotional barriers like fear, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and information overload. We also face these barriers when we talk about climate change. Tamara discusses why it is important to recognize these feelings, encouraging listeners to embrace imperfections and persistent efforts. To learn more about building resilience in the face of climate challenges, visit the Resilience Hub. You can also email Tamara at radio @ citizensclimate.org or text or leave a message at 619-512-9646. Good News! Peterson Toscano shares a good news story from Limpopo Province, South Africa, where earlier this month he was staying in a game reserve. He reflects on the progress in South Africa's energy sector since his previous stay, highlighting the severe scheduled power outages known as load-shedding issues caused by unreliable coal-powered plants. He notes that significant changes have occurred since President Cyril Ramaphosa raised the licensing threshold for private power generation, leading to over 1,000 registered renewable energy projects. These projects, primarily solar and wind, are now providing nearly 4,500 megawatts of new capacity, significantly reducing power outages and transforming the country's energy landscape. Bridget, Caitlin, and Hilda continue their coverage of Melissa Roehrich's Lady of Darkness series with book 4, "Lady of Embers." We're finally getting answers to the mysteries surrounding our favorite Avonleyan soap opera, but there's also some extra unhinged commentary about Bluey and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. And it's Hilda butchering names this episode - Cassius becomes Cassian, and why does Ashtine have an "e" at the end of her name when you're supposed to pronounced it Ash-ton? The mysteries just never end with this series. Join our Patreon for exclusive behind-the-scenes content and let's be friends!Instagram > @Booktokmademe_podTikTok > @BooktokMadeMe

Mindful Minds entered my life in a time when I was at my loneliest and my most depressed. In so many ways, this project saved my life. It gave me purpose, It gave me a reason to stick around.I turned 25 this week, and I don't recognize the 21 year old who sat down at her computer and googled, “how to start a podcast.”In the last 4 years, she has grown and healed and gained so much confidence and peace and joy.She has interviewed her heroes and learned from strangers.I am so proud of her, and so proud of this community.Thank you for your kindness and your support with this decision. Thank you for cheering me on and for accepting my decision to rest. The fact that so many strangers have rallied around me and encouraged me for the last 3 years is unreal.I am so proud of you all and how you've chosen to grow and heal.I hope you know that it's okay to rest too.To my 67 guests: you have changed my life. You listened, you taught, and I am so honored to have continued to connect offline with so many of you. You made this podcast. Your expertise is what spearheaded this vision. To the 48 countries, and 821 cities. To the thousands and thousands of listeners. Thank you thank you thank you. You turned a hobby into a community. And one last time: to end our time, unclench your jaw, take a deep breath, and remember: you can always learn, you can always grow, and you can always choose to live your life in a more mindful way.Goodbye for now,FinaPlease rate us 5 stars and leave us a review! Trigger warning: homophobia/transphobia, ableism, racism, the death of a young child & healing culture trauma, suicide, religious trauma, self harm (and scarring) and depression, and exorcisms/demonic expressionThis week we have the lovely Kelley, Kelly Anne, & Emma (she/her) of @womanbeingpodcast on to talk about coping with the harm done while a part of fundamentalist evangelicalism. For many, including myself, it is a hard pill to swallow to come to terms with how you caused direct and indirect harm while in religion. It is easy to get defensive and can be really tricky to talk about. In this episode, we unpack the events that impacted us and were a catalyst to start deconstructing, how to take accountability, and how we've learned to sit in the nuance. Woman Being is a community of people who host conversations in order gain perspective and see the humanity in others. This project was birthed out of a close group of friends getting lost in conversation so enriching that we decided to extend the invitation in the form of a podcast. They hope that as they explore this big, messy world and dive into the gray that you'll find some gold in the midst of it too. Apologies for some of the weird audio in this episode! We had a few technical difficulties while recording :-( This week we have Kirah (she/her) of @thestrology on to talk about all things astrology! For a lot of people who grew up in religion, astrology was OFF limits. In this episode, we discuss the roots and realities of astrology, along with how to use it to heal. Kirah is a professional astrologer and astrology teacher and consultant whose practice is rooted in the Hellenistic tradition. As a queer Black astrologer, Kirah is passionate about intersectionality and accessibility for those who want to learn astrology. If you want to follow Kirah or work with her, you can find her online @thestrology and at thestrology.com as well as her podcast, Cosmic Guidance For All! Please listen to the beginning of this episode for a major update. I cannot thank you all enough for the last 3 years. You have changed my life. Thank you. Trigger warning: homophobia, transphobia, self-hatred, discrimination, hate crimes, mental health distress, addiction, suicide, counseling abuse, emotional abuse, sexual assault & investigations, brief talk about school shootings via Columbine, graphic description of suicide (time stamp: 1:02:00-1:07:00). This week we have the incredible Erin Green (She/They) of REAP (Religious Exemption Accountability Project) on the podcast to talk about homophobia and discrimination at Christian Colleges. Erin (She/They) is the Campus and Alumni Organizer for REAP. They are an affirming biblical scholar and LGBTQIA+ activist. Erin has a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Azusa Pacific University and an M.Div. from San Francisco Theological Seminary. If you listened to episode 24, we talk quite a bit about REAP. REAP fights for the safety, bodily autonomy, justice, and human rights of LGBTQIA+ and other communities marginalized at many predominantly white, taxpayer-funded religious schools and colleges. Using campus organizing, storytelling through podcasting, documentary film, and speaking and preaching on campuses throughout the country, REAP empowers students, faculty, staff and alumni at these institutions to advocate for human rights, while shining a light on the dangers and abuses of a major educational pipeline of white Christian Supremacy. If you want to follow REAP and learn more about what they're doing and how to support it, you can visit them online here and follow them @REAP_lgbtq . You can also reach out to REAP if you are a queer student who is facing discrimination or hatred in a religious school. REAP is also releasing a podcast called, “On God's Campus,” soon so keep an eye open for that! Lastly, if you want to follow or connect with Erin directly, you can follow them at @_runningerins_ . BUCKLE UP B*TCHES!!! In this episode, we breakdown the 2016 Pure Flix film, "I'm Not Ashamed." This movie covers the story of Rachel Joy Scott and the 1999 Columbine Shooting: with lots of Christian propaganda and historical inaccuracy mixed in.Come along with me as I cringe and critique this monstrosity of a movie.Quick trigger warning for folks: talk about school shootings & gun violence, SA, su*cide, depression, addiction, ableism, purity culture, and overall patriarchal Christian misinformation. Also also - if you haven't listened to ep 79, please listen for a MAJOR update on Mindful Mind's future.xoxo Fina Please rate us 5 stars and leave us a review! SRA is talked about in the book of Revelation. Serafina Truth shares with us today the Whore of Babylon and the ancient practice of SRA taken all the way through civilization to the end of times. The Throne of Satan also comes in Revelation 2:13 and has been taken to Germany, which Serafina explains how it was taken there from Pergamum and what it has to do with the end times. Serafina was also educated in a private school that taught Egyptian Dance Rituals in "gym." She later saw this exact dance executed when mummies were moved from a pyramid in Egypt. Why was this done and what is going on? This is a fascinating interview that shows the end times movement of SRA and how the age old spiritual battle is being waged.
