In the final episode of the April series on the One Broke Actress podcast, we are focusing on looking back at all of our past goals and what we want to change going forward to get us closer to our ideal more. I'm going to introduce an equation to help you set up the next three months of your life, focusing on accomplishing and enjoying what's been done, the current vibe of 2024, and desires from an ideal morning exercise. This is going to involve selecting one area (health, finances, career, mindset, relationships, spirituality) to focus on for improvement. Choose something that actually works for you, that you will work towards, because we need to actually execute plans rather than merely discuss them. Put your plan into action!! And trust me, I know it's hard. We get really honest about what I've been struggling with and want to change for the future: improving my mindset. I'm revealing vulnerabilities about trusting in my career and my struggles with self-doubt. But we are also going to take those feelings and outline specific goals to support my mindset, including limiting my daily tasks, spending time alone daily, and ensuring all other goals support my main focus. Hold me to it, and I'll hold you to yours! What goal are you focusing on for the next three months of 2024? She can also be seen staring in several Emmy nominated shows such as Dopesick, Better Call Saul, Godless, and Feud. She loves nap time, making her own clothes, and eating at Chilis. As proud as she is of her life's work, she owes most of it to her husband who is a patient man. In this episode, Audrey and I get real about the ups and downs of this industry, the intense amount of work required from us as actors, and how she navigated her career while processing a lot of grief at home. 02:12 — How Audrey's Pandemic Went 03:48 — Working While Grieving 06:28 — Booking Dopesick 08:50 — Audrey's Process for Handling Emotionally Demanding Roles 13:05 — The Pressures of Growing Name Recognition 18:27 — Auditions & Self Tapes 23:38 — Time, Energy, and Money for Bigger Audition Opportunities 30:20 — Audrey's 2022 Day-to-Day Schedule 32:41 — AD: Cast Away Cancer with Castability @castability.actor 34:52 — Why Actors Quit the Industry & What Kept Audrey Going 40:52 — Taking on Negotiating Power as an Actor 44:04 — Good Reps & Finding Community 51:19 — Loving the Hard Work 55:20 — Audrey Helps Actors 58:23 — Audrey When It's Slow 1:01:10 — Where to Find Audrey Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Audrey's personal IG, @audreyscoresmoore Follow Audrey Helps Actors on IG AudreyHelpsActors Website Abundance Bound with Miata (Listen to her ep with Audrey here) SAG-AFTRA Official Podcast Cast Away Cancer with Castability Hosted by Jessica Sherman, CSA and Friends -------- Want more? In this week's episode, I'm so excited to introduce you to Sam Valentine, an actress, podcaster, and entrepreneur. Sam is best known as One Broke Actress. She has the One Broke Actress blog, podcast, YouTube, Patreon and all the social medias. She moved to LA right after college with a Theatre Degree and in her words “with more conviction than she had dollars”. She is also the CEO of a new women-focused podcast production company called Fast Forward Productions. In this episode we talk about her high and sort of outlandish expectations of moving out to LA to pursue acting, how she continues to refocus on her acting when she gets off track here and there, why she believes having a side hustle as an actor or artist is a MUST, how she has, throughout the years, figured out that she is deserving of rest and how slowing down has helped her realize what she really wants out of life. I hope you enjoy our conversation and if anything that Sam says resonates with you, please share this episode on Instagram and tag me @levelupwithshay and Sam @onebrokeactress. Anyone else triggered by the word L A Z Y?WARNING: I am a megafan of Sam Valentine and in this reunion episode we get to the juicy stufffffffff! We're coming up on a year and Sam was my very first-est guest! In today's episode she shines a bright light on the journey of her legendary podcast One Broke Actress. Sam openly describes how she's re-defined productivity in her own life and career (and her double-career as a podcast host & editor!). Lazy WAS a trigger word for Sam – so she took steps to create a new schedule that supports her goals and focuses on what she really wants. Don't we alllllll want that????We talk about the importance of creating boundaries for ourselves (and not in like a lame-o conceptual way, Sam breaks down the nitty gritty of her calendar and how it changed everything when she figured out what actually fuels her. (And screw everyone else's definitions of productive and successful!). I point this out because what Sam says will challenge you with practices that some might consider SUBVERSIVE – especially in a culture that often rewards toxic productivity.   And I think that listening to her story can help ALL OF US – because I have never met a human who said I AM REALLY GOOD AT CREATING BOUNDARIES. This episode is all about being honest with yourself and creating a schedule that supports you living your most meaningful and creative life.  Thank you for tuning in to this episode of Brian Breaks Character!   If you loved this episode, please subscribe and leave an honest review. Season 8 is FINALLY on its way!! We have so many exciting things in store for this season that I am so glad to finally be sharing it with you all. We are shaking things up this time and have lots of changes coming your way. Instead of our usual 12 episodes that have a 1 hour+ episode structure with guests, this season I wanted to sit down and talk to you one-on-one. These new-and-improved Solo Sam episodes will be way shorter in length and let me chat with you about everything that's on my mind about the entertainment industry, what I've learned recently, and we will even have some Q&A's to answer whatever questions you have. We will also have professional guests that are not actors but still have things to share with the rest of us about the industry. But fear not!! We will still have plenty of acting guests in the season and long episodes, they just won't be the only thing to look forward to. As always, thanks for listening to the One Broke Actress podcast and I cannot wait to share everything that we have in store! Want more? Welcome to the very first episode of Brian Breaks Character! To start this show off with a bang, I've invited the curiously honest and benevolent Sam Valentine on the show for a *completely confidential* coaching call. So naturally, I want all of my listeners to tune in for some key takeaways from our raw and open conversation about creative impact and making a buck while you do it!   To set the stage, Sam is an LA-based actress, and host of the One Broke Actress podcast, a show that shares insightful tips that can only come from actors and actresses in the thick of their careers.   In today's episode, I coach Sam on her current career roadblocks, including where she needs to concentrate her energy as we move out of the pandemic and back into a healthy hustle. She also shares tips on how she stays grateful as she navigates her goals with her acting career and podcast business.   During our coaching session, I asked her to expand on how she uses her podcast platform to honor where her audience is in their acting journey. Sam also shares how she realized that her podcast, One Broke Actress, gives her inherent value as a resource for others to learn the truth behind the life of a working actor (and actress) by asking questions and getting answers on the detailed corners of the world of film.    As a previously broke actress herself, Sam shines a spotlight on the fatigue that comes from multitasking and ways you can take control over the goals you set for yourself! We also chat about the resistance that comes up around pricing our work, the intricacies of creating multiple streams of income to support herself, and how she will best serve her audience. CLOSER LOOK & TAKEAWAYS How to translate the fear behind getting sucked back into the hustle mentality Why our value is tied to our careers and how to break that thought process How we show up mo' betta' when we invest energy and money The impact behind One Broke Actress A balance between acting and producing a podcast   Watch the uncut behind-the-scenes video of this episode on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/brianpatacca   CONNECT WITH SAM https://onebrokeactress.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/onebrokeactress/  CONNECT WITH ME Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/briansaysthat/  FREE TRAINING www.MakeAgentsWantYou.com Thank you for tuning in to this episode of Brian Breaks Character! If you loved this episode, please subscribe and leave an honest review.
