Sugaring connects us to the trees around us, and produces a delicious, sweet product for our pancakes, salad dressings and marinades. But it can also cause its fair share of headaches — like when you have to battle rugged terrain, bad weather and plundering woodland creatures to get that sap you want so much.Peter Gregg knows a thing or two about the highs and lows of sugaring. In his recently published memoir, "The Sugar Rush," Gregg tells the story of how he and his longtime best friend fell in love with sugaring. Gregg runs a 1,000-tap sugaring operation in Rupert and is also the longtime publisher of "The Maple News," the largest trade magazine for the maple syrup industry in the US and Canada. Then: Over the past four decades Vermont Creamery has grown from a small artisan dairy company based in Websterville to a must-have brand for retailers like Wegmans and Whole Foods. This year, it celebrates its 40th anniversary. The company's co-founder, Allison Hooper, joins Vermont Edition to mark the milestone.

President and CEO of Nova Scotia Power, Peter Gregg, in conversation with host Francis Bradley about the evolving state of electricity in Nova Scotia. Revisiting themes they spoke about three years ago on the podcast, they discuss the decarbonization of Nova Scotia's electricity system, the impact of federal policies, the increasing frequency and impact of extreme weather. They also focus on the province's Clean Power Plan, the failure of the Atlantic Loop initiative and what says about complex inter-jurisdictional projects, and how reliability and affordability will be front and centre as Nova Scotia aims for an 80 per cent decarbonized grid by 2030. They close the conversation with Peter's recommendation for an addition to the Flux Capacitor Book Club.
So much of automotive history is the passing of things and people. On this day the last Plymouth Superbird was made, Sir George Cayley, the father of aerodynamics passed, the Silver Bridge that joined Point Pleasant West Va, and Gallipolis, Ohio collapsed, on the bright side Charles Duryea was born! I am going to focus on a death that I am torn about. One hand says it shouldn't have happened as it did, the other understands the thinking behind it.Show Artwork is Peter Gregg during the 1968 Darlington 250, Gregg finished 7th, 11 laps down in the NASCAR Grand Touring race.www.nodrivinggloves.com#cars #car #collectorcars #oldcars #cartalk #electriccars #ev #hotrod #carhistory #automotivehistory #automobile #thisdayinautomotivehistory #thisdayinhistory #classiccars #onthisday #NaPodPoMo #ithappenedtoday #december15 #24hrslemans #petergregg #suicide
Bob Lewis is a poet, composer, and musician – probably best known as co-founder and early guitarist for the band DEVO. Bob attended Kent State University in the late 60s and after the Kent State shootings on May 4th, 1970, Bob and his friend Gerald Casale started exploring the theme of what they termed “de-evolution.” Peter Gregg joined them the following year and the trio recorded three proto-Devo songs —"I Been Refused", "I Need a Chick" and "Auto Modown".In 1973, they formed the band DEVO with Mark Mothersbaugh and made their debut performing at the K.S.U. Creative Arts Festival as the Sextet Devo. Bob stopped by our studio while he was in town for a Q. & A. event as part of the “DEVO 5-0: The Beginning was the End – A Fiftieth Anniversary Tribute to The De-Evolution Band.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Hurley Haywood A man who graciously entered the motorsports history books with a gentle smile and kind eyes, Hurley Haywood has the kind of glamour and style that befits a socialite of the age. But that is the outer skin: underneath he was a fierce competitor who made his way to the podium a record number of times in the world's major sports car races! Synonymous with Porsche and Brumos racing he had a longtime racing partnership with Peter Gregg and many others. Hurley came from money but you wouldn't have known it when he got behind the wheel. As tough as anyone, but with the intelligence to know when to attack and when to manage his equipment. This combination meant he was in demand for most of his career as the driver who could win races and championships. A private man, Hurley also authored a great book on his life and a Netflix documentary simply named ‘Hurley' that allowed him to share with the world his own journey in his words. I met up with Hurley at his beautiful home in St Augustine, Fl where the world of noisy, fast cars seemed a distant memory. Until we talked.
Peter Gregg was a fierce and uncompromising competitor. Four Daytona 24 hour outright wins, six Sebring 12-hour class wins and five overall IMSA championships were just reward for the exhaustive preparation demanded by ‘Peter Perfect'. Gregg was known for his successful Brumos Porsche dealerships and a ‘Batman and Robin' style racing partnership with Hurley Haywood. However, behind the scenes, life was not always perfect for Peter Gregg.
Recorded on Zoom in early October 2021, episode 46 is the eighth in a series of podcasts seeking to unpack Canada's Net Zero 2050 greenhouse gas target. For this episode, Peter Gregg, President and CEO of Nova Scotia Power and I talk about the challenges of meeting GHG reduction targets, and Nova Scotia Power's plans to decarbonize their electricity system, taking into consideration customer affordability and reliability. We touch on technologies, the importance of regional interconnections (Maritime Link, Atlantic Loop), and the need for clear policy direction. As with previous podcasts, we wrap up the conversation with a book recommendation.
On today's episode, Mike since down with Peter Gregg, President and CEO of Nova Scotia Power. The two chat about Peter's background, the future of NS Power, and renewable energy among other things. Tune in now!

No doubt you’ve seen his photography in many automotive publications. Hurley Haywood’s racing career goes all the way back to 1969 when he raced with Peter Gregg at Watkins Glen. He built his career behind the wheel of a #59 Brumos Porsche, racing for the Jacksonville, Florida-based team that’s lasted over 40 years. The number of major race wins and championships he accumulated in his career makes him the most successful endurance racing driver in history. Together they have created a very exciting new book titled Hurley: From the Beginning Now, This book is 420 pages with over 650 photos, Haywood tells it all. From the beginning.
With the publication of his autobiography, American racing legend Hurley Haywood has opened chapters of his life that were largely kept private in a professional career that spanned 1969-2012. In his return to the Marshall Pruett Podcast, Haywood brings us inside his fascinating midwestern upbringing, how being drafted into the Vietnam war halted his momentum as a sports car driver and altered his outlook on life, the role Peter Gregg and Brumos Racing played in his development, and Gregg's battle with mental health issues that eventually led to suicide. Outside of his well-known championships and successes at Daytona, Sebring, and Le Mans, Haywood's unique forays into IndyCar, IROC, and Trans-Am are discussed, and the decision to speak publicly for the first about his sexuality in Hurley: From The Beginning closes the 90-minute conversation.
