On a YUGE episode, Peter & Pears on a Pod's Jack Hudson go through it all:
Already despised by their SANFL rivals, the Port Adelaide Magpies tried and failed to sneakily enter the AFL in 1991 before 'being put back in their box'. Ironically, it was Port Adelaide's desperation to join the AFL that fast-tracked the formation of the Adelaide Crows, but it also showcased the club's bold and ruthless mentality. In this sixth episode of AFL Team Builders, inaugural leaders Brian Cunningham (CEO), Greg Boulton (president) and Stephen Paxman (player) go through the highs, lows and controversies as Port Adelaide went about launching a standalone AFL team, built upon the foundations of 150 years of SANFL dominance.

On a Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval, the undefeated Port Adelaide Power took on the Melbourne Demons. This week we go back in time with former Richmond and Port Adelaide goal-sneak Chris Naish. Chris reminisces about his career, reflects on some of his favourite moments and people in the game. Chris, an inventive and clever small forward from Wangaratta, was drafted by Richmond with pick 5 in the 1988 VFL National Draft. Chris made his debut with the Tigers in the 1990 season and then went on to play 143 games in the yellow and black, kicking 212 goals. At the end of 1997 season, Chris was traded to South Australia and played with the Port Adelaide Power for two seasons, adding further 18 games and 16 goals to his tally. In this episode, Chris talks about delaying his AFL journey to finish school, his early years at the Tigers, roving to some the club's best forwards, playing State of Origin Football, the Tigers coaching landscape during the 90's, almost heading to Sydney, playing in an AFL Reserves premiership and playing with Port Adelaide. A great listen with the seventy-fifth member of 'The 90's Club Footy Podcast'. This episode has been produced by Set Sounds.

Sam Menhennet is speechless. The Sports Desk team is speechless.Carlton are in the Prelim. Have a listen to Sam recount the victory from his experience at the MCG that very Friday night. That's really all the preview to this episode you need, really.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
AFL Semi Finals, where six shrinks to four. Melbourne vs Carlton, a game that has raised the blood pressure of The Sports Desk's own, Sam Menhennet, but perhaps a big call made by Liam Cole and Jason Evans could settle his nerves. Port Adelaide vs GWS, sure to be a seismic do or die matchup at the Adelaide Oval, does a 13 game home and away winning streak only amount to a straight set bow out? We shall see. This week is also very news heavy, with AFL trades, A-League Grand Final news, Cricket, Tennis, and a truly poignant occasion, immortalising a great Australian sporting accomplishment with the unveiling of 'The Cathy Freeman Stand'.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

CARLTON WIN! CARLTON WIN! CARLTON WIN!...But Sam Menhennet is sporting a North Melbourne jumper. How can that be?James Worth also shows some humility in the Blue Bagger festivities, as well as a review of the Socceroos vs Mexico at AT&T Stadium and a preview the Euro Qualifiers. Jerry Ng & Liam Cole go in-depth with the rest of the weekend in AFL Finals, which for Liam was a bitter moment given his Saints were knocked out rather comfortably by GWS.But Carlton is the team that has taken over the desk, the studio and the town. So Jason Evans thought he could pull of a cheeky trick for this edition of 'Minute Mondays'.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Collingwood locked their defense in and the Demons couldn't handle the chaos ball in the Magpies 7 point win at the MCG in Thursday's Qualifying Final. An in-depth discussion breaking down the how is greatly needed from the team of Sam Menhennet, Liam Cole, Jerry Ng & Jason Evans. Or at least the team can try their best while ignoring the enormous navy blue elephant in the studio, the most important Carlton game in over a decade is hours away against the Sydney Swans, and Sam is feeling every human emotion at once delivering the show tonight. It also doesn't help that Jason has laid down the gauntlet regarding the fate of the Blues and the responsibility they hold on delivering a memorable finals series as a whole.Liam's rather nervous too, as the team have doubts whether the defensive fort of the Saints can withstand the possible orange siege of GWS.And of course, Brisbane vs Port Adelaide gets previewed in quite possibly the most exciting final the weekend has to offer.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Time to flick into top gear. A bit of fun is also had as members from the show past and present have their words come back to haunt them as the team reflect on some of the horrific howlers or perfect prophecies deemed by the resident 'Hot Take Chicken'.The Sports Desk tonight is hosted by Sam Menhennet, Jerry Ng, Liam Cole & Jason Evans.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Though it must be said, Round 22 makes things all the more perilous for so many clubs, a big preview is in order, as well as taking a moment to salute to the careers of some world-class players who have announced their plans to hang up the boots at season's end.Not only that, how does the team react to the NRL going to Vegas? The Sports Desk: Hosted tonight by Sam Menhennet, Jerry Ng, Liam Cole & Jason EvansSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
