Bloody Elbow fight expert, Zane Simon is here, joined by his co-hort, Eddie Mercado. We recorded for you on Saturday, May 7th, 2022, with a breakdown of the UFC 274: ‘Oliveira vs. Gaethje' 14-bout PPV event. The guys have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased a World Championship Doubleheader this weekend at their UFC 274 PPV event. The first title fight in our Main Event was a collision between ‘former' UFC Lightweight Champion, Charles ‘Do Bronx' Oliveira and Former Interim Lightweight Champion and #1 ranked contender, Justin ‘The Highlight' Gaethje. In our second title fight of the night, we will had the battle for the Strawweight Championship between 'Thug' Rose Namajunas and Carla 'Cookie Monster' Esparza. Also on the PPV card, we had Lightweights ‘Iron' Michael Chandler vs. Tony ‘El Cucuy' Ferguson going to war. Meanwhile, legendary fighters, Ovince St. Preux and Mauricio ‘Shogun' Rua clashed in a Heavyweight bout on the main card. Our highly anticipated main card opener featuring Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone vs Joe Lauzon was a last minute cancellation, which was a bummer, hopefully it can be rescheduled. For all the results, reactions and much more detail on the main card, and plenty of tidbits about all the prelims, be sure to hit play on the show to hear what our fight experts, Zane and Eddie, have to say! _____________________________________ Overall, this now 14-bout card saw 3 1st Rd finishes, 2 KO/TKO's, 2 subs, & 10 decisions; 5 split. Our fight experts, Zane Simon & the returning Eddie Mercado are back to breakdown the UFC Vegas 51: ‘Luque vs Muhammad 2' Fight Night event! The guys have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The card had a 'somewhat compelling' main event, and some other fights to accompany it. Join us to hear the noteworthy details... The UFC showcased a Welterweight Contender's bout this weekend at their UFC Vegas 51 Fight Night event featuring the rematch between Vicente ‘The Silent Assassin' Luque and Belal ‘Remember the Name' Muhammad. Luque, the New Jersey native, fighting by way of Brazil, after coming off a four-fight win streak, currently ranked #4 with a 21-7 record, is thought by some to be one of the best grapplers out there. Muhammad, a native Chicagoan, currently on an impressive six-fight win streak, currently ranked #5 with a 20-3 record, was determined to leave the octagon victorious this time around. In our co-main event, we had contract winners from 'The Dana White Contender Series' battling it out at middleweight. Caio ‘The Natural' Borralho squared off against fellow debuting foe, Gadzhi Omargadzhiev. Caio was entering the octagon on a decent professional ten-fight win streak making his UFC debut, fighting out of Brazil with a 10-1 record. Meanwhile, Gadzhi, held his own 13-bout professional fight win streak, also debuting tonight, fighting out of Russia. The other dozen fights on the card were a mixed bag. A couple of noteworthy clashes occurred on the Prelims card, primarily when the prospect to watch, Drakkar Klose, collided with Brandon Jenkins. Overall, this massive 14-bout card saw 2 1st Rd finishes, 4 KO/TKO's, 1 sub, & 9 decisions, 2 technical, 1 split & 1 majority. Drakkar Klose & Andre Fialho were awarded $50K ea for their POTN efforts, FOTN went to Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Wu Yanan. Our fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado are back to breakdown the UFC LONDON: ‘Volkov vs Aspinall' Fight Night event. The guys have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC put their HWs on display tonight in the Main Event of UFC LONDON. The match-up between Alexander Volkov vs. Tom Aspinall ended much more quickly than many had anticipated it would. The rising British star of the HW division from Atherton, Aspinall, was coming at this on a 7-fight win streak, with a record of 11-2, but only ranked #11 in the division. Meanwhile, ‘Drago', the impressive veteran Russian brawler, ranked #6 in the division, walked into the Octagon with a storied 34-9 record, after coming off a win to Marcin Tybura at UFC 267. In the co-main event, we had a FW scrap between the British contender, ‘Almighty' Arnold Allen, and the New Zealander, Dan ‘The Hangman' Hooker. Allen, was intent on extending his 8-fight win streak in front of his home crowd. Hooker had just returned to the LW division after a brief detour at FW. Rounding out the main card, were four additional fights: Just prior to the co-main event we saw LWs Paddy ‘The Baddy' Pimblett the local favorite from Liverpool & the brawler from Mexico City, Kazula Vargas, go at it in what the UFC was marketing as “The People's Main Event”. We were also treated to a WW bout, from Gunnar Nelson & Takashi Sato. There was also a FW tilt between Liverpool's Molly McCann & Brazil's Luana Carolina. Also worth mentioning, was the LW debut of Ilia Topuria of Spain against Jai Herbert, the British favorite in our main card opener. Our featured prelim tonight highlighted one of many bouts on the card put which put on a performance of the night finish, between Makwan Amirkhani & Mike Grundy in the 1st Rd. For all the results, reactions & much more detail on the main card, with plenty of tidbits about the six-bout prelims card as well, be sure to hit play on the show to hear what our fight experts, Zane and Eddie, have to say. Our fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado are back to breakdown the UFC Vegas 50: ‘Santos vs Ankalaev' Fight Night event. The guys have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC put their LHWs on display tonight in the Main Event. Thiago Santos & Magomed Ankalaev went the distance for us. ‘Maretta' was coming off a win against Johnny Walker at UFC Vegas 38, with a record of 22-9. Meanwhile Ankalaev, the impressive emerging Russian, was building a case for contendership, walking into the Octagon with a 16-1 record, on an impressive seven-fight win streak; this would be his first five-rounder, defining his forthcoming trajectory in the promotion. In the co-main event, we had a BW scrap between the up-n-comer Chinese, Song Yadong from Team Alpha Male, and the Brazilian veteran, Marlon Moraes. The ‘Kung Fu Monkey' was looking to notch a third win in a row on his belt, upping his record to 19-6 against ‘Magic' Moraes tonight. Marlon was hoping to break his three-fight loss streak, increasing his own record to 24-9 in an effort to secure a slot in the Top 10 of the division. Song meanwhile, has been preparing hard to advance his journey towards title contention. Where the main event went to the judges scorecard, in stark contrast, the co-main was over in around two minutes. Be sure to check out the highlight reel. Just prior to the co-main event we saw FWs Sodiq ‘Super' Yusuff vs Alex ‘Bruce Leeroy' Caceres go at it. We were treated to a LHW bout from ‘The War Horse' Khalil Rountree & Karl ‘Baby K' Roberson. There was also a LW brawl between Drew Dober & Terrance ‘T.Wrecks' McKinney (who accepted the bout on short notice right after appearing at UFC Vegas 49 on Feb 23rd). Also worth mentioning, was the MW tilt between fellow Brazilians, Alex Poatan' ‘Pereira & Bruno ‘Blindado' Silva in our main card opener. ________________________________________________________ Overall, this 14-bout card saw 3 1st Rd finishes, 5 KO/TKO's, 3t subs, & 6 decisions. Four fighters were awarded for putting forth POTN efforts: Khalil Rountree, Cody Brundage, Song Yadong & Azamat Murzakanov: FOTN honors went to nobody tonight. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Eddie Mercado & Mookie Alexander, are here to breakdown the UFC 272: ‘Covington vs. Masvidal' PPV event, from Vegas. The guys have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased the #6 ranked ‘BMF Champ', Jorge Masvidal, in a Welterweight grudge match with former friend, Colby “Chao”s Covington. Masvidal formerly competed with Bellator, Strikeforce, Shark Fights & World Victory Road during his 18 years as a professional mixed martial artist. He still holds the record for the fastest KO in UFC history, at just five seconds. His foe, Covington, holds the distinction of being the former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion and is seated in the #1 slot in the divisional rankings. Meanwhile, the co-main event featured a replacement match. Instead of RDA vs Rafael Fiziev, we received former UFC Lightweight Champ Rafael dos Anjos vs . Renato Moicano. Moicano is the former interim Jungle Fight Featherweight Champ. He has two wins and a loss under his belt after his battle with COVID-19 this past November and December. The last minute bout he accepted on five days notice, was contested at a catchweight of 160 lbs. Also on the PPV card, we had a FW match between fight veteran, Edson ‘Junior' Barboza & the undefeated up-and-comer, Bryce ‘Thug Nasty' Mitchell, who entered the Octagon on a 5-fight win streak. We also had an exciting matchup between MWs, Kevin ‘Trailblazer' Holland & Alex ‘Cowboy' Oliveira. Not to mention, we were treated to a surprisingly engaging 2-min HW scrap in our main card opener between Sergey Spivak & Greg Hardy. For all the results, reactions and much more detail on the main PPV card and plenty of tidbits about the prelims too, be sure to hit play on the show to hear what our actual fight experts, Mookie and Eddie, have to say about the event last night. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are here to breakdown the UFC VEGAS 49: ‘Makhachev vs. Green' Fight Night event. The guys have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC replaced a LW Main Event between Islam Makhachev & Dariush, with a last min 160lb catchweight bout between Makhachev & Bobby Green, instead. Green was filling in on short-notice to replace the injured Dariush. In the co-main event, we had a MW scrap between Wellington Turman & Misha Cirkunov, resulting in a POTN Bonus awarded to Turman, who managed to capture an unexpected sub after a decent effort was put forth by Cirkunov. Rounding out the main card, were 3 additional fights: including FOTN between Flyweights Priscilla Cachoeira & Ji Yeon Kim who battled back-n-forth all 3 hard-fought rounds, an enjoyable POTN from Arman Tsarukyan, who dominated for almost 7 mins, putting an end to fellow LW Joel Alvarez with a ref stoppage. Also worth mentioning, was the Split Decision battle between DWCS alum, Armen Petrosyan in his UFC debut against Gregory Rodrigues in our main card opener. Our featured prelim tonight featured an unusual finish, a Sub via Brabo Choke, which was delivered by Ignacio Bahamondes over Zhu Rong. The UFC showcased ‘The hardest recorded puncher in the world”, Francis N'Gannou, fighting for the Undisputed UFC HW title, his 1st bout since defeating Stipe Miocic at UFC 260. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are here to breakdown the UFC Vegas 45: ‘Lewis vs. Daukaus' Fight Night event from Las Vegas, NV. The guys have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased a Heavyweight brawl in the main event of UFC Vegas 45. We had the No. 3 UFC ranked, former Legacy FC Heavyweight Champion & former Bellator competitor, Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis, with a 25-8 record, specializing in BJJ, entering the octagon to combat the No. 7 ranked former police officer, who is also notably the younger brother of fellow UFC fighter Kyle Daukaus, with a current record of 12-3, but undefeated in the UFC, with four KO's of his own. Despite their rankings, Lewis managed to enter this bout as a slight underdog with Daukaus being favored by the oddsmakers. It made no difference to Lewis what the odds were, he intended to walk in, get a vintage early knockout to top off his UFC KO record... and that is just what he did. Meanwhile, the co-main event featured Welterweight contenders Stephen ‘Wonderboy' Thompson and Belal ‘Remember the Name' Muhammad, in a brawl which many felt should have been the main event. No. 5 ranked, South Carolina Kickboxing Phenom, Thompson held a 16-5 record entering the octagon tonight. Meanwhile, the Chicagoan BJJ expert, Muhammad, was ranked down in the No. 10 slot, after having formerly competed for Bellator and Titan FC he holds a record of 19-3 walking into this bout. For much more detail on the main card and plenty of tidbits about the prelims, be sure to hit play on the show and hear what our fight experts have to say about the event last night. Overall, this now 13-bout card saw 3 1st Rd finishes, 7 KO/TKO's, 3 subs, & 3 decisions, 1 of them split. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are here to breakdown the UFC 269 event from Las Vegas, NV. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased Brazilian submission artist, Charles Oliveira, making his 1st defense of the UFC LW title against the former Interim LW Champion Dustin Poirier. Oliveira, the #8 ranked LW, holds a 31-8 record, multiple UFC records: most sub wins at 14, & most finishes at 17, as well as 2nd-most performance bonuses. Meanwhile, Poirier, the #1 ranked fighter with a 28-6 record, was ready to swipe the belt from ‘Do Bronx' by any means necessary. Meanwhile, the co-main event featured our 2nd title fight as UFC LW & BW Champion Amanda Nunes put her BW crown on the line against Julianna Peña. Nunes was the 1st & only fighter to defend 2 UFC titles while holding both. At #1 in the women's P4P rankings, she is widely regarded as the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time. Peña was a challenger who had no intention of leaving without that BW crown. Julianna, the 1st women's TUF winner, ranked #11 in the women's P4P rankings, was a heavy “no chance” underdog coming into this battle, with a mere 10-4 record under her belt. For much more detail on the main card and plenty of tidbits about the prelims, be sure to listen to what our fight experts have to say about the event. Overall, this now 14-bout card saw 5 1st Rd finishes, 5 KO/TKO's, 3 subs, & 5 decisions, 1 split. Rounding things out, a generous abundance of bonuses were handed out for putting forth POTN efforts. The Co-Main Event: Meanwhile, the co-main event featured Lightweight contenders Rafael ‘Ataman' Fiziev and Brad ‘Quake' Riddell, in an evenly matched face off. No. 14 ranked, Kazakhstani-Kyrgystani LW tiger Muay Thai specialist, Fiziev, agreed to a bout no one thought would ever occur... a battle against his former training partner and good buddy, Brad Riddell. The New Zealander was ranked #12 in the division. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Dayne Fox & Eddie Mercado, are here to breakdown the UFC Vegas 43 Fight Night event, which was broadcast from the APEX Center in Las Vegas, NV. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased a Women's Bantamweight clash in the main event of UFC Vegas 43. We had the No. 7 ranked, Brazilian BJJ grappling phenom, Ketlen ‘Fenômeno' Vieira with a 12-1 record, entering the octagon to combat the returning No. 8 ranked, Miesha ‘2.0' Tate; a pioneer in Women's MMA — former Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion, former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion and former VP for ONE Championship. with a storied 19-7 career record. ‘Cupcake' returned March 24 this year, after over four years away and went right into the top ten. Vieira was originally scheduled to face Tate on October 16, 2021 at UFC Vegas 40. However, on September 22, the bout was pulled from the card when Tate tested positive for COVID-19. Tonight the five-round headlining match-up finally took place. Meanwhile, the co-main event featured veteran Michael ‘Maverick' Chiesa and up-and-comer Sean Brady, facing off in a Welterweight grappling master class. No. 13 ranked, Brady, who was listed on tapology tonight as being on a 19 fight win streak with a 14-0 official record was matched up with No. 6 ranked Chiesa, who possessed a 17-5 record heading into the bout, but was coming off a loss to Vicente Luque. Prior to the headlining bouts, we were graced with promising showdowns including, a Performance of the Night from Women's Flyweight, Brazilian Taila Santos over Muay Thai specialist, fight veteran, Joanne Wood (formerly Jojo Calderwood) with our only finish of the entire event. In our main card opener, we had our Fight of the Night occur between Bantamweights, Adrian Yanez, who was on a seven fight win streak, and the Brit, ‘Dangerous' Davey Grant. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are here to breakdown the UFC Vegas 42 Fight Night event, which was broadcast from the APEX Center in Las Vegas, NV. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased a Featherweight Tilt in the main event of UFC Vegas 42. We had future Hall-of-Famer, the former UFC Featherweight Champion, Hawaiian born, Max ‘Blessed' Holloway. He won that title defeating José Aldo at UFC 212 while holding the interim title, then defending that title three times. He is #1 in the UFC Featherweight rankings and #7 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings. He has a storied list of arguably the most decorated and impressive UFC career accomplishments. Not that it's any surprise, but Max entered the Octagon a massive favorite against his combatant, Yair ‘El Pantera' Rodriguez, who was returning after two years away. Yair was on a two-fight win streak however, and if he were to come away victorious tonight, he would have gotten a shot at that title Gold, hoping to gain the second championship for Mexico. You may recall that Rodriguez was the winning alum from The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America's 2014 tournament. He was currently ranked #3 in the UFC Featherweight rankings. Meanwhile, the co-main event featured Heavyweights, Ben Rothwell, with a record of 39-13 and Marcos ‘Pezão' Rogério de Lima, with a record of 18-7. Both men were entering the Octagon today with one win each under their belts. Prior to the headlining bouts, we were graced with promising showdowns including, Featherweight up-and-comers, Felicia ‘Feenom' Spencer vs. Leah ‘Nidas' Letson, Welterweight prospects, Miguel ‘Caramel Thunder' Baeza vs. Khaos ‘The Oxfighter' Williams, and for the main card opener we had Bantamweights, the ‘Kung Fu Monkey' - Yadong Song vs. Julio Arce. We had plenty of exciting prelim bouts to discuss tonight as well. Overall, this now 11-bout card saw 5 1st Rd finishes, 8 KO/TKO's, 1 sub, & 2 decisions. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Andrea Lee & Khaos Williams; FOTN honors went to Max Holloway vs. Yair Rodriguez. Join us to go over all the face-punching action! Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are here to breakdown the UFC 268 PPV event, which was broadcast from Madison Square Garden, NY, NY. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased the rematch for the UFC WW Championship in the main event. We had reigning Champ, Kamaru Usman, who was on a 20-fight win streak (the longest active streak in the division), sporting a 19-1 fight record, defending his title in this rematch against returning contender, former Interim UFC WW champion, #1 ranked Colby Covington, with a 16-2 record. Meanwhile, the Co-main event featured our 2nd title fight rematch battle tonight for the UFC SW Championship featuring current champ, Rose Namajunas, with a record of 11-4. She was determined to triumph once again over the #1 ranked contender, Weili Zhang, with a 21-2 record. Prior to the title fights, we were graced with a promising showdown including BWs, former UFC LW champion, #8 ranked BW contender, Frankie Edgar, with a 23-9 fight record vs. the #13 ranked Marlon Vera, with a 17-7 record. Not to be forgotten, was an exciting matchup between FWs, Shane Burgos, & Billy Quarantillo, which was a banger, setting a new record for the most significant strikes landed in a 3-Rd FW fight. We had a highly-anticipated LW match between Justin Gaethje & 1st-year UFC phenom, the former 3-time Bellator LW champion, Michael Chandler, in what was now our main card opener. This fight had FOTN, or maybe even FOTY written all over it. Our featured prelim bout was a clash between MWs Andreas Michailidis and the spectacular UFC promotional debut of kickboxing sensation, Alex Pereira... which did not disappoint, as part of our 9-bout undercard... which had plenty of bouts worth discussing. Overall, this now 14-bout card saw 2 1st Rd finishes, 7 KO/TKO's, no subs, & 7 decisions, 1 split. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Marlon Vera, Chris Barnett, Alex Pereira, & Bobby Green; FOTN honors went to Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler.
