Yair and Mati also open up about their personal journeys growing up as believers in Jesus in Israel, serving in the IDF, and navigating faith in a complex cultural landscape. Finally, they discuss how the ICEJ is shaping the global conversation through its commitment to educating Christian leaders and strengthening support for Israel around the world.
Today's episode of UFC Unfiltered sees Jim Norton and Matt Serra kick off a Monday full of fight talk with bantamweight contender Cory Sandhagen and featherweight standout Yair Rodriguez. First up, Sandhagen joins the show just days removed from his dominant second-round TKO over Deiveson Figueiredo. He breaks down his performance, shares what clicked in the cage, and explains why he's ready to step in as a title challenger following June's Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O'Malley rematch. Between interviews, Jim and Matt react to the weekend's biggest upset: Bo Nickal suffering his first professional loss at the hands of Reinier de Ridder. The guys break down what went wrong and what could be next for the highly touted prospect. Later, Yair Rodriguez stops by to reflect on his rebound win over Patricio Pitbull and to lay out his vision for the featherweight division. Focused more on avenging his loss to Alexander Volkanovski than chasing a grudge match with Diego Lopes, Yair also gives his take on the evolution of his training partner Belal Muhammad, who defends his welterweight title this weekend at UFC 315. To wrap up the show, Jim and Matt dish out shoutouts to the standout performances from UFC Des Moines and look ahead to a stacked week of MMA action.
In this on-location conversation recorded during RSAC 2025, attorney, investor, and strategic advisor Yair Geva shares a global perspective shaped by years of legal counsel, venture investing, and deal-making across Israel, Europe, and the U.S. Geva offers unique insight into how cybersecurity, AI, and M&A are not only intersecting—but actively reshaping—the tech ecosystem.More than just a legal expert, Geva advises early-stage founders and institutional investors across markets, helping them navigate cultural, legal, and strategic gaps. With over 50 personal investments and a strong focus on cybersecurity in recent institutional activity, his perspective reflects where real momentum is building—and how smart capital is being deployed.AI Acceleration and M&A HesitationAccording to Geva, the accelerating capabilities of AI have created a strange paradox: in some sectors, VCs are hesitant to invest because the pace of change undermines long-term confidence. Yet in cybersecurity, AI is acting as a catalyst, not a caution. Cyber-AI combinations are among the few domains where deals are still moving quickly. He points to recent acquisitions—such as Palo Alto Networks' move on Protect AI—as a sign that strategic consolidation is alive and well, even if overall deal volume remains lighter than expected.Cyber Due Diligence Is Now Table StakesAcross all industries, cybersecurity evaluations have become a non-negotiable part of M&A. Whether acquiring a fashion brand or a software firm, buyers now expect a clear security posture, detailed risk management plans, and full disclosure of any prior breaches. Geva notes that incident response experience, when managed professionally, can actually serve as a confidence builder in the eyes of strategic buyers. From Global Hubs to Human ConnectionsWhile San Francisco remains a major force, Geva sees increasing momentum in New York, London, and Tel Aviv. Yet across all markets, he emphasizes that human relationships—trust, cultural understanding, and cross-border collaboration—ultimately drive deal success more than any legal document or term sheet. With a front-row seat to innovation and a hand in building the bridges that power global tech growth, Yair Geva is helping define the next chapter of cybersecurity, AI, and strategic investment.Listen to the full conversation to hear what's shaping the deals behind tomorrow's cybersecurity innovations.Note: This story contains promotional content. While Hamas's massacre shattered Israelis from all walks of life, those from the kibbutzim near the Gaza border — many of whom lifelong advocates for a Palestinian State — were among the hardest hit. Though stark divisions in Israeli society remain, there now seems to be a broad consensus among the people of Israel and their political parties on one conclusion: the two-state solution is all but dead. Yet one Israeli leader - one of the very few who battled terrorists in Southern Israel and rescued Israelis on October 7 - continues to hold out hope. Yair Golan is a decorated general, former IDF Deputy Chief of Staff and head of the The Israeli Democrats Party. We sat down with General Golan to discuss Israel's future, the misconceptions that led to October 7, and the unique role he played on that darkest of days. Hear Yair Mozes, the son of Gadi Mozes, speak about his father who was held hostage by Hamas terrorists who abducted him during the October 7, 2023 assault on Kibbutz Nir Oz, when his wife, Efrat Katz was murdered on that day in their home. Gadi was a hostage for 482 days. As a hostage, Gadi was left alone the entire time; he paced seven kilometers a day in his two-square-meter room, counted the tiles on the floor and solved math problems to pass the time and keep his mind sharp. His glasses were broken during the kidnapping, but after two months he managed to get new ones from his captors and was able to read two books. Once every five days or so Mozes was given a bowl of tepid water to shower with, using a cup to pour the water over his head. He insisted on shaving himself, despite it being a messy and painful affair. This is a fascinating conversation with a son who loves and is devoted to his dad, a former hostage in Gaza. And by the way, while his father was imprisoned, Yair did not shave. Upon his return from Gaza, Gadi shaved his son's beard.

Mijal and Noam dive into the complexities of religious Zionism in Israel with renowned journalist, Yair Ettinger. They explore the historical roots of the movement, from the pragmatic vision of Rabbi Reines to the messianic approach of Rabbi Kook and discuss how these ideologies helped shape modern Israeli society. They ask tough questions, including why figures such as Meir Kahane are resurfacing in popular discourse. With the rise of hardline religious Zionist factions, Mijal and Noam delve into what religious Zionism means today, its diversity and its role in Israel's security, politics, and peace efforts. Frayed by Yair Ettinger Click here for Yair Ettinger's full bio. Yair Ettinger is a former Kogod Research Fellow at Shalom Hartman Institute of North America and an Israeli journalist whose work focuses primarily on religious affairs, the religious and Haredi communities, and their politics. This month's learning is sponsored by David and Ariella Merklin in loving memory of their grandparents, Liebe and Abraham Merklin, Jack and Tora Dabrosin, Ethel and Arthur Rosenthal, and Helen and Julius (Jack) Herman. The story of Achan teaches an important principle: even when the Jewish people sin, they retain their status as Israel, as shown in Joshua 7:11. From this same verse, the rabbis derive that Achan's actions constituted violations of all five books of the Torah. Various rabbis identify specific transgressions based on their interpretation of the verse. During Achan's execution, both his family and the entire nation were present as witnesses. This raises the question: why was such a public display necessary? Following his death, all his possessions were either burned or stoned. Among the items Achan stole was an aderet shinar, though its exact definition is debated. When Achan was ordered to produce the stolen items, Joshua displayed them before God. The rabbis interpret this as Joshua demanding an explanation from God for the deaths of thirty-six people, equivalent to half a Sanhedrin. An alternative view holds that only one person died - Yair ben Menashe - but his importance equaled that of half a Sanhedrin. Joshua's bold confrontation with God was viewed as inappropriate. This raises another question: why was Joshua's boldness considered worse than similar instances of forthright speech by Pinchas and Moshe? Rabbi Shila and Rav offer different explanations for Joshua's culpability in the deaths of the thirty-six: one faults him for delaying the erection of stones upon entering the land, while the other criticizes his prohibition against taking spoils from Jericho. The text also references another incident where Joshua encounters an angel of God and, according to the Gemara, is rebuked for preventing the people from studying Torah. Building on the previous section's discussion of angels, another verse from Proverbs is extrapolated. It is understood to be connected to a story told of the angel Piskonit as the supreme guardian angel of the Jewish people. If a person being executed claims innocence and calls upon the witnesses to bear responsibility, the execution proceeds regardless, even if the witnesses explain why they lied. This is illustrated by a case involving the son of Shimon ben Shatach, which Rashi discusses though it isn't detailed in the Gemara itself.

“I belong to the race that in the Middle Ages was blamed for all the plagues and such experiences have a sobering effect, and they do not arouse the tendency to believe in illusions. Much of my life has been devoted to trying to shed illusions. But if there is an illusion worth believing in, at least partially, this is the illusion: that we learn how to divert the impulse of destruction from our own kind, how to stop hating each other because of trivial differences, and stop killing each other for profits. That we stop taking advantage of the achievements of progress to control the forces of nature in a way that will lead to our destruction. Without this illusion, what future awaits us?” Sigmund Freud, Letter to Romain Rolland, 1923 “I found [this letter] in the collection that Eran Rolnik translated into Hebrew. I met it in the Hebrew version, and when I got back to the German, something else happened. In the Hebrew translation it was talking about the ‘hope'. But then the people in Vienna told me in German this is not ‘hope', this is ‘illusion'. I thought it is even more powerful that he speaks about the power of illusion, the needed illusion. It also brought me back to the beginning of my journey when a friend said the main purpose of the film is to have Freud telling us something like the ‘big father', how should we live today? A tip and insight from Freud. So this is an insight from Freud, a message from Freud over time to us now. I'm not sure it's prophetic. I think there's no prophecies, but it speaks to us now. It speaks to us now.” Episode Description: We begin with an opening quote from Freud that characterized his sense of being an 'outsider'. Yair then shares with us his own personal journey of discovering Freud as distinct from his father. Having some analytic exposure awakened in him the capacity to, like Freud, ignite his creativity and discover Freud anew. Unique among the many Freud documentaries, Yair utilizes 3D animation techniques as well as dreamlike imagery, newly uncovered archival film and evocative music to invite the viewer to regressively experience the possibilities of the unconscious. We go through four periods of Freud's life which include his struggles with Viennese antisemitism, his discovery of the role of childhood sexuality, his illness and the deaths of his father, daughter, granddaughter and mother and his exile to London. We conclude with his 1923 letter to Romain Rolland where he pleads "that we stop taking advantage of the achievements of progress to control the forces of nature in a way that will lead to our destruction.” Our Guest: Yair Qedar is an Israeli documentary filmmaker, social activist and former journalist. In his project "the Hebrews", he had been chronicling the lives of Jewish and Israeli figures of the modern Hebrew literary canon. Qedar's 19 feature length documentaries have all premiered at film festivals and have won the director over 30 prizes. What's it like to grow up as the son of a man who dedicates his entire being to his people and country? Prime Minister Yitzḥak Shamir was a Jewish national hero. When the British ruled Palestine, he served as a leading figure in the anti-colonial struggle to free the country. After the State of Israel was established, he was recruited into the Mossad. Later he entered politics and became Israel's seventh prime minister - where he still saw himself as a fighter for Israel's freedom. In anticipation of the new documentary, Shamir: War, Peace & [a] Dream, Yehuda HaKohen is joined by former Minister of Agriculture Yair Shamir to discuss his father's life and legacy, as well as his own experiences growing up as the son of a national hero.

As of this episode's recording, 461 days have passed since Dalia Cusnir last heard from Yair and Eitan, her brothers-in-law who have been held captive in Gaza by Hamas. In the most important Adapting episode yet, David Bryfman speaks with Dalia about her personal journey, and the educational and moral imperative of pidyon shvuyim (redeeming the captives). At a time when compassion fatigue feels all too common, this episode reminds us of the importance of hope and not giving up. As Jewish educators, we must continue to stress that the freedom of the hostages is a human issue and not just a Jewish issue. When the history of October 7th is written, educators will not be judged by the events of that horrific day and its aftermath. We will be judged on how we respond. For a more in-depth understanding of why this is the educational imperative of Jewish education today please read David Bryfman's latest article here. This episode was produced by Dina Nusnbaum and Miranda Lapides. The show's executive producers are David Bryfman, Karen Cummins, and Nessa Liben. This episode was engineered and edited by Nathan J. Vaughan of NJV Media. For the new documentary, The Bibi Files, director Alexis Bloom uses hundreds of hours of leaked, previously unseen interrogation footage of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his wife Sara, his son Yair, his staff and inner circle – to trace how the corruption charges against Netanyahu and Israel's war on Gaza have converged. On this week's midweek podcast, we re-air a conversation between Brooke Gladstone and Israeli journalist Raviv Drucker, one of the main guides through The Bibi Files, to discuss his role in the documentary and how Netanyahu's corruption cases act as the “engine” that drives the wider conflict in the region.
