For this weeks episode of the Warships Podcast, we have a bittersweet one. This is the final episode for KamiSamurai who is leaving the podcast to go work for Wargaming North America in Austin, TX. There are many goodbyes from fellow Community Contributors and Kami took a moment to reflect on his time on the show. The show introduces Aerroon, who is now officially a full time crew member of the Podcast and will help the team going forward. The Community Contributor Program giveaways are also discussed as the crew explains the process. Sailing into the heart of our show topics, the podcast crew discusses the new Admiral Halsey Campaign. Similar to the Yamamoto Campaign, this is a permanent commander that has special abilities and special rewards for achieving in match combat actions. Parts of the new USN Cruiser line split have happened and a new supply shop and feature is coming called “Arsenal”. Discussion about the USS Salem being the first ship earned by a new resource type called “Coal” is debated, as is the other resource “Steel”. Which will only be earned via modes like Ranked or Clan Battles. Arsenal may also include consumables like Signals, or Free XP, but these have yet to be finalized and as always, subject to change. Kelorn and Aerron starts the show off reflecting on their trip to St Petersburg to visit the World of Warships main development studio. Sharing experiences and funny stories, we get a good look into the great time they had with everyone and the great success Wargaming had in doing this Community Contributor Summit. Venturing into the heart of the main show's theme. The cast and crew discusses the next Ranked Season to come. This upcoming season will feature many changes including the introduction of Tier 10 category ships as the main focus from battle ranks 10 to 1. The crew begins discussing each category and starts with Carriers. Unlike recent Clan Battles rule sets, this season of Ranked will indeed have Tier 10 Carrier options. Many changes are coming to the top tier carriers USS Midway and HIJMS Hakuryu, and the podcast reflects on what the changes will bring to the meta. Continuing right along the podcast gets into the next category, destroyers and the ever ominous present of radar that Tier 10 ships can bring. Discussion on game play and meta is hashed out in depth with focus on radar and counter radar tactics. Further talk on what destroyers will be viable in this meta as well as speculation on future ships that may or may not be available soon. All the destroyers are discussed and debated and tactics are hashed out giving the looming presence of effective radar. The crew also bring up the Tier 8 category of play that is required before reaching Rank 10 and what ships would be viable in this meta. Bridging from the Destroyer discussion and the topic of radar, the cast and crew cover the Cruiser category. Which the podcast believes might be one of the more effective category types over previous Ranked Season rule sets due to the utility and power of many Tier 10 Cruisers. Reflection on how effective Cruisers are in Clan Battles is discussed and correlated to the possible meta for this coming Ranked Season. Key cruisers of note in this debate are; USS Des Moines, KMS Hindenburg, HIJMS Zao, VMF Moskva, and HMS Minotaur. Speculation is also briefed, bringing up the upcoming USN Cruiser split and what radar focused USS Worchester might be like in this Ranked setting. Radar Minotaur is also a topic of jokes and serious discussion. The crew finishes this category with a quick run down of the Tier 8 category of cruisers. Cruisers of note are; HIJMS Atago, VMF Kutuzov, and KMS Hipper and KMS Prinz Eugen. From Cruisers to Battleships the podcast crew gets into the heavy metal. Battleships, a popular category among many players, and the cast and crew go through the ins and outs of the many options for this category. Discussing the effectiveness and principles of overmatch for armor and the giving ranges of some engagements. Speculation is had as to what maps will be present and how those maps will handle objective wise and game play wise verse the other category of ships. The classic HIJMS Yamato vs USS Montana debate is continued as well as the new entrant, Republique which has been popular as of late even showing an uptick in use in Clan Battles. KMS Großer Kurfürst and the secondary build is debated and the crew explains why this ship might have issues in the possible meta for this Ranked Season. The topic of battleship AP rounds vs destroyers is brought up and discussed in relation to the popular destroyers that might be seen in the meta. Hi listeners! For this weeks episode of the Warships Podcast, we have the return of EU Contributor Aerroon. Normally the podcast would have Aerroon on for a pre Ranked Season break down, however this time he is joining us for post Ranked results. The cast does a quick interview to catch up with Aerroon, and see what he has been doing since the last time he was on the show before diving straight into our topics. Our first topic of discussion is a plethora of new premium ships including the USS Monaghan, HIJMS Asashio, Gasconge, as well as Dev Blog ships Z 39 and Kronstadt. The USS Monaghan and HIJMS Asashio are both new destroyers being tested and the cast members give their current opinions on the work in progress ships. Moving on to the Gasconge, a ship that was previously discussed on the show. The crew talks about the changes and whether it is enough to make it a better or more competitive ship than it was in its previous iteration. The podcast crew also discusses the latest information shown form the World of Warships Dev Blog which showcased two new ships. The German Destroyer Z 39 and the Russian Cruiser Kronstadt. Both ships are debated but the Kronstadt in particular drew speculation and discussion towards another ship the cast would like to see, the USS Alaska and/or USS Guam. Sailing right along, the show gets into the post Ranked Season discussion. Debating and parsing the Tier 8 Ranked Season and each member going over how they felt and what observations they had while playing. The noted differences between all the servers and the strengths and weaknesses of some ships played through, which in particular were ships, HMS Edinburgh, VMF Chapayev, USS New Orleans, and Lo Yang. Talk on the topic of radar and sonar is held and a discussion about the frustrations players had this season was also noted. The podcast finishes the show by discussing the next Clan Battles season. Which will have very similar rules and match sets as the previous first season. Kami and Notser give their opinions and experiences from recent play and set the picture for what players might expect should no major changes occur. Vanessaira recount more experiences and the show debates the play style of the battleships. The Cast goes into details about the concealment and gun calibers changes through the tiers as well as differences from play style of other line battleships. The Tier 8 Battlehship HMS Monarch is brought up with regard to competitive play and we debate the possibilities giving its advantages and weaknesses. Other battleships are again discussed including HMS Warspite, HMS Queen Elizabeth, as the sister ships are different, as well as the play style of HMS King George the V. Drawing similarities to the Scharnhorst, KGV users need to utilize different shell ammunition types and the Cast talks about how to use this to a players advantage. Another battleship that was added to our topics was the new Imperial Japanese Navy Battleship. HIJMS Kii, a tier 8 battleship that will be similar to HIJMS Amagi but more dispersion, better AA, and torpedoes! While on the subject of IJN, the cast talk's about the Yamamoto Campaign and what challenges will be present in trying to complete it. Wrapping up our show, we discuss the newly announced Pan Asian destroyer line. This line is said to be testing a new type of torpedo for the game that would run deep, and not be able to hit destroyers or light cruisers. Greetings listeners! In this weeks episode of the Warships Podcast, we crank up our epic sounds systems to full, as we jam to the likes of Yuro'Beat! Famous YouTuber and comedic World of Warships entertainer. Kelorn interviews Yuro beginning with how he got his start into creating his totally awesome YouTube content, and his love for the anime series Initial D. The cast continues the interview talking about cars, music, and how Yuro has almost single handedly been reviving the Eurobeat music genre. We bring up some differences between the SEA and NA servers and the communications barriers that exist, as well as talking about how communications effect things like Ranked game play. The cast also inquires about the importance of content like that of ARP and High School Fleet, and what that means to the SEA region for its player base. While getting into the heart of our show topics we quickly ask Yuro for his picks for the upcoming Ranked Season. He breaks down what he might use and talks about his outlook of this next season and Ranked in general. We discuss the HIJMS Kaga and USS Enterprise (CV6), as the new carriers on the block, the game play that these carriers bring, and impact they have been having on the game. The cast also gets into all the changes that Enterprise has received and what this ship is going to look like in its final form. Continuing on the topic of Enterprise, the cast brings up the prospects of competitive play in places like Supremacy League. How might she fare and will teams use this ship? Yuro speculates on KMS Graf Zeppelin another carrier that will most likely join the Tier 8 line up Soon™, as well as speculation on the High School Fleet Event and when that might hit the NA servers. The cast talks about HSF Harekaze. A Tier 8 destroyer which is an incredibly fun ship play and is one that brings a great set of options to Tier 8 destroyer gameplay. We round out the show talking about changes to this upcoming Ranked Season. Changes have been made in the rewards per rank, and the cast discusses the likes and dislikes of the system.
