On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Aaron Quinn from Cover 1 for a final Buffalo Bills seven round mock draft. less than two days before the actual NFL Draft commences on Thursday night. As is the case every year, injury reports are emerging on a handful of top prospects just days before the draft, which could push down guys who've been pretty to very high in a lot of mocks. These prospects include defensive tackles Derrick Harmon and Alfred Collins and cornerback Will Johnson. Aaron also shares how he's feeling about wide receiver Keon Coleman going into his second year and what, if anything the signing of Tre White means as it pertains to this year's draft.Kicking the draft off and things mostly go the way the guys want leading up to the Bills pick at 30, at least in terms of cornerbacks. Both Harmon and Derrick Grant are available but go off the board within five picks of Buffalo, showing it's likely Brandon Beane would have to move up for one. Aaron doesn't and is happy take a cornerback with question marks but a very high ceiling. They take what Aaron calls a bit of a luxury pick with their first of two round selections and grab defensive Joshua Palmer at pick No. 62.From there they try to wait on making a trade for specific players a few times that proves to be unsuccessful. The guys end up taking a speedy wide receiver and doubling down at defensive tackle in the fourth round before selecting a bunch of flyers on guys Aaron admittedly doesn't feel great about, lamenting not trading up and having less picks. In all though, it's a haul that both guys seem to like with a heavy emphasis on improving the talent in the secondary, with defensive end being the sacrificial lamb for it. Most Bills fans would surely be satisfied with this draft. Summary: This episode discusses the final draft of the BLM landscape health and conservation rule, which aims to flood money into the public land system to control management. The rule introduces new types of leases, such as restoration and mitigation leases, and prioritizes areas of critical environmental concern (ACECs). The hosts express concerns about the rule's lack of statutory authority and its potential impact on motorized recreation. They also question the need for the rule, as many of its provisions are already covered by existing laws and programs. The conversation discusses the proposed conservation rule and its potential impact on public lands. The hosts argue that the rule is a power grab by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and gives unilateral authority to state directors to designate Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs) without congressional approval. They highlight the potential consequences for grazing allotments and the transfer of wealth from public land users to environmental groups through mitigation funds. They emphasize the need for congressional oversight and support for the West Act. Takeaways The BLM landscape health and conservation rule aims to flood money into the public land system to control management. The rule introduces new types of leases, such as restoration and mitigation leases, and prioritizes areas of critical environmental concern (ACECs). There are concerns about the rule's lack of statutory authority and its potential impact on motorized recreation. Many of the provisions in the rule are already covered by existing laws and programs. The proposed conservation rule gives unilateral authority to state directors of the BLM to designate ACECs without congressional approval. The rule could have significant consequences for grazing allotments and other public land uses. Mitigation funds created through the rule could result in a transfer of wealth from public land users to environmental groups. The criteria for ACEC designation are vague and could be subject to abuse. Congressional oversight and support for the West Act are necessary to address the concerns raised by the rule. Sound Bites "The BLM landscape conservation rule will only affect BLM land. The Wall Street rule would have affected everything." "There is an organized political movement that is doing everything it can to remove roads off the landscape so that it can create wilderness." "This is a land grab. This is them saying, we no longer need presidents in the antiquities act. We no longer need Congress and wilderness designations." "Once they get it designated as an ACEC, then it's going to be nearly impossible to remove that ACEC designation." NMiF Senior Producer Lou DiVizio introduces the show this week with a recap Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's decisions on proposed legislation from the Roundhouse. The Governor made some serious changes to HB 547, what had been a wide-ranging tax passage. After the Governor's line item vetoes, the package was pared down to a $500 per-person tax rebate, an expansion to the state's child tax credit and film tax credit programs, and a gross receipts tax deduction – specifically for health care practitioners. Then, Our Land Senior Producer Laura Paskus speaks with Jerry Redfern, reporter at Capital and Main about some recent methane pollution fines and the role his reporting played in making the EPA aware of those infractions. Gene Grant and The Line Opinion Panel react to Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller's announcement that the city's police force will be smaller than promised. Gene asks our panelists whether we should be focused on the number of officers, or how they're being used. Gene and the panel also dissect the Santa Fe District Attorney's decision to withdraw from the deadly Rust filmset shooting case. JP Morgan ‘criminal enterprise precious metals desk' RICO trial update…. While silver sits at half of its 1980 high, in the midst of 8% inflation prints, an increasing global war, financial sanctions, keep in mind that several JP Morgan and LBMA executives are still awaiting trial and facing RICO charges. These are the charges that the Justice Department brought forward after labeling JP Morgan's precious metals trading desk a ‘criminal enterprise.' Although if it feels like the same paper smashes that JP Morgan got fined $920 million for are still happening, and you're wondering if this new trial is going to go anywhere, you may be stunned by the news in today's video. It's actually become quite a fascinating case in its own right, especially for precious metals investors, given that the ultimate ending to this situation has still not been written. Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in to our first episode last week. We are so grateful for all of your feedback. In this episode, Matt and Zoe are back once again with guest Susanna Klein, professor of Violin at Virginia Commonwealth University and Section Violinist with the Richmond Symphony. Susanna shares her experience as a musician, teacher, researcher, writer, and “practice guru”. The team then takes a deep-dive into Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, “Eroica” just in time for RSO's upcoming Masterworks concert: Beethoven in Vienna. Highlights include what musicians can learn from sports psychology, the time Susanna broke her finger before her first recital, and how Beethoven would have saved files on his computer if he was alive today.
