Thank you for tuning into the SeaBros Fishing Podcast! On this episode we were excited to host Captain Brett Wilson of Hindsight Sportfishing based out of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.Over the past few years, we have had the pleasure of becoming friends with Brett both on and off the water. Brett is a great captain with decades of fishing experience under his belt. In our opinion, he runs one of the most professional and well respected charter operations in the Northeast.Brett is a second generation fisherman. His father had a fishing charter boat out of Rock Harbor, MA for over 20 years. He started as a mate on his father's boat at the age of 10 and progressed to working on several different charter boats as a kid. At the age of 18, Brett received his captain's license. With his license in hand, Capt. Brett headed to the Florida Keys, where he furthered his career mating for some of the best captains in the world. In 2010, Brett started Hindsight Sportfishing Charters aboard his 42' Duffy downeast boat. He runs over 150 trips a year with a stacked roster of returning clients and anglers. Overall, Brett puts in over 200 days per year on the water. During the winter months, he captains fishing charters in Florida and is also hired to run several sportfish boats in the sailfish tournament circuit.Brett is a savage. Taylor and I have admired his approach to charter fishing and tuna fishing since we were young. In this conversation we discuss some great topics and Brett shares some incredible stories. Everything from hand-feeding grander bluefin tuna on Georges Bank, tournament fishing for sailfish down in Florida, scary experiences and lessons learned on the water, hunting stories, and much more. FrontStage BackStage with Jason Daye - Healthy Leadership for Life and Ministry
As pastors and ministry leaders, we give consideration to the value of incorporating healthy rhythms into our lives and ministries, but we oftentimes struggle with making those rhythms a reality. In this week's conversation on FrontStage BackStage, host Jason Daye is joined by Holly and Glenn Packiam, who serve at Rock Harbor in Costa Mesa, California. Glenn serves as the lead pastor and Holly earned her master's degree in counseling at Colorado Christian University, and has served as pastor of parenting ministries. They are the authors of The Intentional Life, and the follow-up companion to that book, The Intentional Life Journal. Together, Holly, Glenn and Jason explore the importance of incorporating these rhythms into our lives. Holly and Glenn share from a personal experience simple ways to not only talk or think about these rhythms but to actually implement them in our daily lives.Dig deeper into this conversation: Find the free Weekly Toolkit, including the Ministry Leaders Growth Guide, all resource links, and more, at http://PastorServe.org/networkSome key takeaways from this conversation:Holly Packiam on the struggle and effort to adopt and maintain intentional practices: "These practices of intentionality… I don't actually feel like it's natural to me. I've had to work really hard, and I've had to come up with systems… to kind of keep me on track."Glenn Packiam on how self-care goes beyond personal benefits and is instead motivated by the well-being and needs of others: "This isn't self-care as in, it's only for my own sake and ends with the self. No, this is for the sake of others."Holly Packiam on recognizing and embracing one's identity as a son or daughter of God: "Your identity comes from that foundation that you are a son or daughter of God… if we could really live out of that confidence, that love… we would live in more freedom."----------------Looking to dig more deeply into this topic and conversation? In this episode of We Are Vineyard, Jay chats with Todd Proctor about the shaping effects of worship on his life, how the changing worship culture intersected with his discovery of the Vineyard, and his first experience with prophetic prayer ministry. Todd shares about the mentoring he received from Don Williams, and his belief that impactful relational moments are key for investing in the upcoming generation of leaders. Jay and Todd talk about their shared love of Alpha, some interesting things Todd is noticing happening through the ministry right now, and the surprising community impacts that churches are seeing as Alpha becomes part of their church culture. As Executive Vice President of Strategic Church Engagement, Todd Proctor has served on Alpha USA's leadership team for seven years. He is passionate about creating experiences and facilitating conversations that help key leaders reposition their communities for evangelistic impact in an increasingly post-Christian reality. Prior to joining Alpha, Todd founded Rockharbor Church in Costa Mesa, CA, where he served for 15 years as Lead Pastor. He experienced Alpha's impact firsthand, as Rockharbor became a pioneering hub church for the organization in the Southern California region. Todd watched as Alpha created a safe space for members to openly discuss matters of faith, as well address needed cultural shifts in the church in areas such as hospitality, relational evangelism and dependence on the Holy Spirit. A natural networker, Todd has had the opportunity to build bridges with leaders and communities across the nation. In collaboration with the Exponential Conference, Todd co-authored the book, “Empowered,” which offers pastoral perspectives on life and leadership in the Spirit. Todd received a bachelor's degree in Communication from Biola University, where he met his wife, Lisa. They have been married for almost 30 years, and have four children. As many of you know, we have been searching for a new Lead Pastor since February 2021. Through an extensive search process led by a diverse volunteer team, countless hours of prayer and fasting for wisdom and discernment, the Lord has made clear who the next leader of Rockharbor would be. In early July, the search team alongside the elder board unanimously invited Glenn Packiam to become our Lead Pastor, which he has graciously accepted alongside his wife Holly and their four kids Sophia, Norah, Jonas, and Jane. For the past 22 years Glenn has served at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, first as a worship pastor and, most recently, as Lead Pastor of the Downtown congregation. He has become a respected theologian, receiving his doctorate from Durham University in the UK. As a Senior Fellow at Barna Group, Glenn is a frontrunner on the intersection of research and ministry, guiding pastors to navigate our current cultural moment. He is an accomplished musician and author whose primary aim is building up the Church in following Jesus. He has written several books, the most recent being The Resilient Pastor, aimed to encourage and develop longevity in pastors. We could not be more excited about what God has done in bringing the Packiam family to Rockharbor and about what God will do under Glenn's leadership in the future. This has been a long-awaited announcement, and we are grateful for your prayers and patience, the hard work of the search committee, and the faithfulness of God. Please continue to pray for the Packiams as they transition. Pray for Todd, Kit, and the rest of the staff as they continue to lead into the fall. And above all else praise God! He has answered our prayers. He is always faithful.

What is a mission? An assignment to be carried out to fulfill your purpose. I. What is God's mission for your life? (Hosea 6:6, Ephesians 1:5,11; Hebrews 11:6, 1 Corinthians 2:7) To love and please Him.II. How can you fulfill your life's mission? Surrender your life to Him (Gen. 18:19, Mt. 28:18-20, Ps. 37) Start living for God (Acts 20:24, 2 Corinthians 5:17-20) Consider joining in the mission of Viewpoint ChurchThe Mission of Viewpoint Church is to inspire and guide people of all ages to make a difference in their community and on their campuses by knowing God better and discovering His purpose for their lives.Brief History Viewpoint Church originated out of a small group of people who met every Friday evening for fellowship and Bible Study. There was a sense that God was calling the group to pray about planting a church in Newport Beach. ROCKHARBOR Church confirmed our call in January of 2013 and we began to ask others to join us. A group of about 30 students and adults began to organize and meet regularly. By summer, we met on the beaches of Balboa Peninsula for PRE-LAUNCH SERVICES for several months and then at ROCKHARBOR offices for six months. ROCKHARBOR officially commissioned Viewpoint Church on March 30, 2014. Our first official service (or the birthday of Viewpoint Church) was April 20, 2014 (Easter Sunday) at Old City Hall on Balboa Peninsula.Values BIBLE-BASED – Viewpoint is a church that will teach from the Bible and encourage all members to read through the Bible each year. We believe the Word of God is where we can learn and teach God's viewpoint on all aspects of life. Hebrews 4:12GOSPEL-CENTERED – Viewpoint believes that the Gospel is the message that will change culture. We are a church that is committed to regularly delivering the Good News in relevant and powerful ways. Mark 16:15FAMILY-FRIENDLY – One of the ways Viewpoint can change culture in a community that is over-committed is to offer a Sunday morning family service that lasts 1 ¼ hours that is geared for and includes students 8th grade and older. I Timothy 5:8SPORTS & ACTIVITY MINDED – Viewpoint enjoys and engages, as a church family, in the unlimited activities that our community offers; from the film festival, running clubs and through developing teams and hosting events that access the beach and its surroundings. Luke 2:52RECOVERY-SENSITIVE – Viewpoint is sensitive to the many men, women and students in our community and church who can benefit from a safe place to sustain their recovery from drugs, alcohol, etc. All church activities, meetings, events, or gatherings will be alcohol-free. Our leaders will also be asked to abstain from alcohol use in public. Parents will be asked to consider having alcohol-free homes during the years their students are under-age. II Corinthians 6:3, Romans 14:13PRAYER FOCUSED – Prayer is both a personal and corporate spiritual discipline that allows men, women and students to grow in their relationship with God. At Viewpoint, we value prayer and its power to change our lives and our community. I Thessalonians 5:16-18MISSION & MINISTRY MINDED – We believe that we are all ministers. We are each called to use our gifts, both in our church (ministry) and in the world (missions). Our goal is to develop leaders of all ages to love God, themselves and others in order to change culture for the next generation in the City of Newport Beach and throughout the world. Acts 1:8, II Tim. 3:16-17FUN – Joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Laughter and fun should be a high value for all of us. Romans 15:13, Psalm 126:2, Ecclesiastes 3:4
