Penn State football is on a bye, but the team is still hard at work getting better for the second half of the 2022 season. In recruiting, the team is using this week to visit important players and commits. The BWI Daily Recruiting show discusses that and the recruiting weekend visitors from Northwestern. Subscribe to the BWI Daily Edition on YouTube, so you never miss the show. https://bit.ly/3KzEcqK Recruiting insider and host Ryan Snyder starts the show discussing the Northwestern visitor list with Sean Fitz, publisher of Blue White Illustrated. They go through the important players that made the trip to Happy Valley, including Jaylen Harvey, Eric Lee, and Rodney Lora, whom they discussed last week. Hear what they had to say about the impression Lora made and how the visit went for those recruits on a lousy weather day.  Next, they dig into the Penn State coaching travel schedule. The Nittany Lions have augmented the bye week schedule this year, which Fitz describes. After that, he and Snyder discuss which coaches will visit players this week, including several essential prospects committed to other schools. Can Penn State flip Cam Seldon? They detail which coaches will see Seldon and what other important players will take priority this upcoming weekend.  The conversation about Seldon and West Virginia commit Rodney Gallagher spins into a discussion about the coaching movement in college football, with several coaches already losing their jobs this past weekend. Lastly, Snyder and Fitz discuss a recent update by On3 national recruiting reporter Chad Simmons. Simmons caught up with key uncommitted prospects in the Northeast region. Friday is an important day on the Penn State recruiting calendar. Four-star linebacker from Pittsburgh, Ta'Mere Robinson, makes his college decision between Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Miami shortly after 6:15. How will that decision play out? Recruiting reporter Greg Pickel and host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr, preview the evening's event.  First, however, they start with a recap of Tony Rojas' decision to join Penn State one day prior. A fellow four-star linebacker, Rojas chose Penn State over similar schools. So how significant was his recruitment? Pickel and T-Frank discuss.  Next, they get into Robinson's preview and explain how confident Penn State fans should be in the outcome later in the evening.  From there, T-Frank asks Greg to give him the short-list of players he'd choose to pursue for Penn State if he were in charge of recruiting. He mentions the most elusive prospect this month, offensive lineman Evan Link, who has gone silent in communication with media and coaches, according to Pickel. He also birngs up Virginia linebacker Kevion Keys and receiver Carmelo Taylor.  T-Frank follows up that list by asking if Pickel thinks it's wise to hold off on taking a wide receiver in case the Nittany Lions can flip a commitment from a higher-ranked recruit. Both Pittsburgh-area receiver Rodney Gallagher and top-150 athlete Cameron Seldon are players that T-Frank would target first.  Lastly, T-Frank brings up a question from Thursday's BWI Daily Mailbag show for Pickel to answer. A Lions Den member wants to know if four-star offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier will get a fifth-star from On3 and if any players in the class will jump from three to four-star profiles. Pickel chooses receiver Yazeed Haynes and explains why.  Next, they shift their focus to Penn State wrestling. Head coach Cael Sanderson received a new contract this offseason. How does that impact the program's stability? How dominant can they become in the future? And how doe NIL add to that already sizable lead? Pickel and T-Frank discuss that at length before turning the conversation to NIL at Penn State and the lack of enthusiasm to contribute to football.  From there, they take a quick look at the 2022 Nittany Lions for a preview of the season. Which underclassmen will take a step forward and jump up the depth chart? T-Frank and Greg give their thoughts.  Finally, they close out the show discussing Bo Nickal's MMA career and a big moment coming up in the near future.  Learn more about your ad choices. It was a jam-packed weekend for Penn State recruiting and host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr, recaps all of it on the show. He gets into the good and bad news before looking ahead to the rest of the summer with his preview. T-Frank starts with breaking news this afternoon that three-star offensive lineman Joshua Miller de-committed from the program and flipped his commitment to Georiga. T-Frank breaks down what happened and gives his opinion on what might have enticed Miller from a positional and schematic standpoint. Next, he gives an overview of the good news. Rising three-star prospect Yazeed Haynes committed to Penn State Sunday night. So, T-Frank gives a quick scouting report of the uber-fast wide receiver. He also gets into some of the ways that Haynes mitigates the loss of four-star target Rodney Gallagher. From there, he transitions into the show's main topic, looking ahead to the rest of the uncommitted players in the Class of 2023. He picks out three offensive players and six defenders that he thinks are must-gets for Penn State. Of course, the Nittany Lions don't need to get all of them, but they represent positions or skill sets that Penn State needs to fill out its class. He starts with the offense and then transitions to the defense to finish the show. Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts. It's coming down to crunch time for Penn State football with several top prospects as May draws to a close. The BWI Daily Edition Recruiting show focuses on two top prospects who have been in the news lately. Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder and reporter Greg Pickel tackle that and other notable news items from the last week.  They start with the news that four-star receiver Rodney Gallagher moved up his commitment date from July 4th to May 25th. This news comes just days after reports in the recruiting world surfaced that Gallagher was leaning towards committing to West Virginia. What's going on? Snyder explains what he's learned and what factors play into the Laurel Highlands receiver's situation. Also, where does Snyder think that Gallagher will choose Wednesday? He gives his thoughts.  Next, they discuss another Penn State prospect that was supposedly a lock for the Nittany Lions in three-star defensive end Mason Robinson. But, like Gallagher, there were rumblings recently that Penn State's lead wasn't only slipping but that the defensive lineman planned on committing to Northwestern after a visit earlier this month. Pickel and Snyder discuss the situation there and dissect what has transpired since then. Finally, they wrap up with a discussion about elite prospect Kadyn Proctor, the 31st player in the nation, according to On3's player rankings. He's set an official visit to Penn State for the summer. Does Penn State have a chance? Snyder gives his thoughts on why the Nittany Linos are hosting Proctor. Penn State spring recruiting is in the books as the team looks ahead to the critical summer months and official visits. But, before turning the page, The BWI Daily Recruiting show looks back at what happened over the month and a half of spring football and just how many prospects came through campus in the first return to typical spring recruiting since the COVID-19 Pandemic started. Before that, host Greg Pickel and recruiting insider Ryan Snyder start the show looking forward to the summer calendar and important dates for Penn State official visits. They discuss the importance of announced visitors like four-star safeties Cam Seldon, Dakaari Nelson and linebacker Ta'Mere Robinson. They'll also discuss the importance of getting critical in-state prospect Rodney Gallagher on campus for a visit this past weekend. Finally, they'll round out the show by discussing four-star linebacker Tony Rojas, where Snyder adds a foreboding warning about the end of this cycle. They close the show discussing April recruiting under Penn State head coach James Franklin. Snyder explains why it's such an important month for commitments and why it will continue to be that way. It was a successful Blue-White weekend for Penn State football, with around 80 prospects on hand to see the event. Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder and reporter Greg Pickel discuss what went down this weekend, their observations, and more on the BWI Daily Recruiting Show. They'll also share what they know about Penn State's latest commit in the Class of 2023, Conrad Hussey. Finally, they'll finish the show and discuss key recruits in '23 who have released or will release their top schools shortly. Pickel starts the show with Penn State's newest Nittany Lion. The three-star defensive back chose the Nittany Lions in a surprise move on Monday, and since then, BWI has had a chance to talk to Hussey and his advisors. Pickel gives his impressions of Hussey from his interview earlier in the week, and Snyder tells the audience what he learned from Hussey's step-father and coach. So how well will a Florida player who commits after one visit stick? Snyder and Pickel give their thoughts. Finally, Pickel explains why Hussey wanted to commit to a school so far from home. Next, they discuss the Blue-White game and the weekend recruiting effort. Before getting to the list of names present on Saturday, they discuss the misconceptions about the event. For example, Snyder tells the audience why top recruits for the current cycle were not in attendance this weekend. Outside of a few players, the list of visitors focused more on the Class of 2024. Snyder also explains some of the hiccups and pitfalls with so many recruits on campus. He also explains the subtle ways he can tell which players are the priority recruits in attendance. Of those names, though, Snyder mentions linebacker Ta'Mere Robinson. The four-star defender out of Pittsburgh was open with him about how close he was to committing to Penn State and why he didn't. To get the complete list of players, check out the video. After discussing Cass Tech defensive end, Jalen Thompson, Snyder, and Pickel break down several 2023 prospects that have released their final list of schools. Pittsburgh receiver Rodney Gallagher and Alabama safety DaKaari Nelson had Penn State in their final eight schools. Meanwhile, linebacker Tony Rojas should have his out soon, and Snyder gives you his prediction on which schools are on that list. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: http://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. After a hot start to the year, Penn State football went dark in recruiting but came back in April by flipping tight end Andrew Rappleyea from Michigan. Now that they've secured one spring commitment from the four-star tight end, who is next? That is what the host of the BWI Daily Edition, Thomas Frank Carr, on today's edition of the show. He uses Penn State's top prospects and their announced unofficial visits to give a barometer of when a commitment might come. Finally, T-Frank looks at the class breakdown and examines where Penn State needs to land a commitment. Three Penn State prospects to watch this spring. The first prospect that T-Frank mentions is four-star receiver Rodney Gallagher. The Pittsburgh native announced five dates this month where he'll visit some of his top schools for unofficial visits. From that list, T-Frank points out the schools that Penn State will have to compete the hardest against to earn Gallagher's services. From there, he explains why Gallagher is such an essential prospect in this class and why T-Frank thinks he's a "must-land" for the Nittany Lions. The second prospect that T-Frank shows is four-star linebacker, Tony Rojas. The speedster linebacker has an impressive list of unofficial visits lined up for the coming month, many of which are in short order. T-Frank notes that several are early NIL heavy-hitters, and one is a perennial powerhouse. Finally, he tells you and then mentions a common thread between Rojas and Gallagher about how their visits line up. The third and final prospect is an under-the-radar player in McDonough defensive end, Mason Robinson. The unranked edge rusher has an offer from Penn State, a short list of schools, and a high track record visiting the school. Is he the most likely player to commit? T-Frank gives a quick scouting report on Robinson because fans might not be familiar with him in a crowded class of edge rushers in the region. Finally, T-Frank brings up a dark horse candidate to commit to the Nittany Lions. Check out the show to hear which player was on campus Wednesday and what that player could mean to the Class of 2023. Finally, T-Frank examines the class by position and side of the ball. Where does Penn State need to secure a commitment? Howx do their class numbers and ranks stack up? Lastly, he gives an outline to end the show. Every Friday, the BWI Daily Edition looks at the key visitors on the weekend for Penn State recruiting. Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins the show to break down the names to know for April 1-3. He and host Thomas Frank Carr also discuss the receiver group for the Class of 2023 and the players who made their way to Happy Valley over the last week as well. Snyder starts the show by discussing the players making their way to Happy Valley over the weekend, comprised chiefly of standouts in the Class of 2024. The first name he brings up is offensive line prospect Kyle Altuner. Last weekend, the Good Counsel offensive lineman was a standout at the Under Armour camp in Baltimore and now visits the Nittany Lions a week later. Snyder explains what he saw at the camp and his strengths as a prospect.  The next important player in the group is Mekhai White, a 6-3 receiver from King George, VA. Once again, White is a player that stood out at the Baltimore camp and has multiple offers from schools in the region. So, where does he stand with the Nittany Lions? Snyder explains that and the other schools vying for his services.  After discussing several other prospects in the Class of '24, Snyder brings up two names for the weekend that will be significant factors in the Class of 2025. Check out the video to hear who they are.  Finally, T-Frank wants to get Snyder's perspective on how spring practice plays into recruiting at this time of the year. Snyder explains that it's not just the on-field work that is important but also the meetings for players. Next, they move on to the players that visited Penn State this previous week and Snyder's conversations with them. T-Frank starts with Texas wide receiver Kyle Parker, who has an interesting and unique recruiting story with the Nittany Lions.  From there, they transition from Parker to offensive lineman Amir Herring, a four-star prospect from Michigan and a part of the On300. Penn State already has four offensive linemen, so why are they still courting Herring? Snyder explains.  Finally, they discuss the wide receiver board. That's because four-star receiver and in-state product Rodney Gallagher announced that he would visit the school on April 30th. How important is that visit? Snyder says it's not about the visit to Penn State but other critical visits to advance Gallagher's recruitment. T-Frank and Snyder then discuss Gallagher's importance to the Class of 2023 and the receiver board this cycle.  Lastly, they preview the month ahead and what happens when the NCAA calendar flips from the quiet period into the evaluation period in the middle of the month.  JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual   SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation   Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/   Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: http://bluewhiteonline.com   Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394   Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/   Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3   Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. This week, Penn State recruiting ended their "extended dead period," as recruiting insider Ryan Snyder called it. The BWI Daily Recruiting Show is here to give you the scoop on what's new and what names are important as the Nittany Lions get into the quiet recruiting period, where players can take visits to Happy Valley. Reporter Greg Pickel and Snyder run down the information of the week. Before getting to Penn State's first visitor of March, they start with the Nittany Lion's camp schedule for the summer. First, Snyder points out two key differences with Penn State's camp schedule and plan over the last several years. He explains why they're essential to understanding and then contextualizes the change. Next, he runs down the camp dates and the critical things to know about most of the schedule. After that, Pickel gives his thoughts on why it's crucial to have high school teams, not all-star teams at camps. From there, Snyder discusses Penn State's first visiting player for the Class of 2023 in March, Cameron Lenhardt. How did things go for the IMG Academy defensive end? Also, why was he up north this week? Finally, Snyder fills in those details from his conversation with the four-star edge rusher earlier in the week. Next, they get into the key players in the Class of 2023 on the offensive side of the ball. Snyder has paired down his hot boards for the class and shares the key names for this spring. They start at quarterback, and while Dante Moore is on the list, the key names are JJ Kolh out of Iowa and Marcus Stokes out of Florida. So what makes those players the standouts? Snyder fills in what he knows and gives some personal thoughts on what Mike Yurcich is looking for in a quarterback. From there, they discuss the Penn State running back board, which includes a recent offer in Scranton Prep's London Montgomery. He and Florida rusher Treyaun Webb seem to be the clear-cut favorites to land at Penn State, but Snyder throws in other national names. At tight end, there's really only one name to know. Michigan commit Andrew Rappleyea wants to visit other schools after changes on the Michigan staff, and Penn State is one of his destinations. From there, they head to receiver and start with Penn State's top targets. Four-star receivers Rodney Gallagher and Noah Rogers remain the teams' highest priority targets while others stay in the mix, like Dallastown's Kenny Johnson. Finally, they head to the offensive line room to see who else Penn State might fit into its already loaded class. Several interior players come up on the show and are possible targets despite Penn State's depth inside players. Yet, the top two players remaining are tackle prospects Samson Okunlola and Evan Link. Snyder explains why each, but especially Link, is key. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: http://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. The Penn State recruiting class of 2023 is off to a hot start with several top 100 players this cycle. One key recruit in those efforts is four-star receiver from Laurel Highlands high school, Rodney Gallagher. The uncommitted Pittsburgh native joins the BWI Daily Edition to talk about his recruitment, what he wants in a school at the next level and more. Host Thomas Frank Carr starts the conversation with Gallagher off with basketball. The two-sport star recorded the show with T-Frank days before the WPIAL 5A Boys Basketball Championship game against New Castle. Gallagher and T-Frank discuss the WPIAL tournament to that point, the game, which Laurel Highlands won, and how basketball makes Gallagher a better football player. After that, they shift over to Gallagher's recruitment. He tells T-Frank which schools he's been in contact with the most and how he feels about the process during the middle of basketball season. In a previous interview, the do-it-all athlete had stated that he's not thinking about official visits during his basketball season. Still, he does understand the process and explains how he tries to keep in contact with schools. Next, they discuss Gallagher's game on the field instead of the hardwood. Gallagher has played multiple positions for Laurel Highlands over several seasons but has spent most of his time at quarterback. He explains how that situation came to be and then gives a definitive answer after T-Frank asks what position he sees himself at most. He feels so strongly that one school has switched up its recruitment to suit his vision, it seems. Once they finish talking shop, they discuss what's next for Gallagher. He tells T-Frank what he plans to do differently this fall and then details how he's planning on going all-in on football this offseason. Aside from camps, he plans on going after one area of his game very hard this spring and summer. While he doesn't give a firm timeline on his recruiting process, he is adamant on one key thing. From there, they discuss what's important to Gallagher in a fit for the next level. What does he want from the situation? He gives a clear vision of what he is looking for in the school and the playing situation at the next level. They wrap up with a fun “get to know you” segment before Gallagher's answers spark a question about NIL. Penn State's recruiting efforts for the Class of 2023 came into sharper clarity this week with the release of the On300 from Blue White Illustrated's parent company. The BWI Daily Edition, Recruiting show focuses on that list and details where Penn State's commits and targets ended up in the new rankings. Then, host Greg Pickel and recruiting insider, Ryan Snyder, go through the most important players. First, they start with Penn State's top committed players. Five-star offensive lineman Jven Williams cracked the top 15 players in the nation, while four-star interior lineman Alex Birchmeier is outside that five-star group. So, could Penn State have two five-star linemen in the same class? Snyder gives his thoughts. Next, they look at the top 100 players in the nation and detail the targets that Penn State has a chance to land. Snyder starts with Thayer Academy tackle Samson Okunlola, who clocks in at 59th nationally. Okunlola has an even split between Penn State, Georiga, Rutgers, and Virginia in the On3 RPM Prediction Machine. So Snyder fills in the context of Penn State's standing with the four-star tackle prospect. He also highlights tackle Kadyn Proctor and receiver Noah Rogers. From there, Snyder singles out Florida defensive tackle Derrick LeBlanc, who is the 71st player in the nation per On3's update. His relationship with a current Nittany Lion is a bonus for Penn State recruiting. How much? Snyder relays which player he's close with and how realistic the possibility is. Later in the podcast, they discuss LeBlanc's teammate, John Walker, who went from unraked to 125. Other players that Snyder goes over include Maryland defensive tackle Jason Moore (89th overall) and 2nd ranked safety in the country, Cameron Seldon, as potential targets in the top 100. From there, they discuss the following 100 players and Penn State's targets in that group. Gonzaga's Evan Link leads this group. The 6-5 tackle jumped 75 spots in the rankings, and Snyder gives the story on how Link made such a giant leap. Linebackers Ta'Mere Robinson, Tony Rojas, and receiver Rodney Gallagher are regional prospects with which Penn State sits in a strong position. Pickel details their movement on the list and gives his thoughts on their Penn State recruiting fit. Penn State commit Neeo Avery also checks in at this part in the list. Finally, Snyder highlights physical freak Joseph Mupoyi from Archbishop Carroll at the defensive end position. Lastly, they look at the final third of the group from 201-300. According to Snyder, quarterback JJ Kohl is a hot name, as is Florida QB Marcus Stokes. Check out the show to hear more about the quarterback situation. They also touch on the running back situation with London Montgomery from Scranton Prep. The 5-9 tailback made the 300 list, but Penn State is seemingly looking elsewhere. Will he get an offer? Again, Snyder gives some details on the situation. Finally, Snyder highlights dark horse defensive end, Jameial Lyons, from Roman Catholic in Philadelphia. Penn State football wrapped up the Class of 2022 earlier this week so it's on to the next cycle. That's not just true for the Nittany Lions, but also Blue White Illustrated recruiting insider Ryan Snyder and the rest of the recruiting world as well. He joins host Thomas Frank Carr to give you Penn State's top targets at each position in the upcoming Class of 2023.  They start, as you always should, at the quarterback position. So what's the update with the Nittany Lions' efforts to land their top target, Dante Moore, out of Martin Luther King high school in Detroit? Why are they offering more quarterbacks like Florida prospect Marcus Stokes? Snyder gives his impressions on offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich's efforts to find his next signal-caller.  After that, they dip into the equally murky waters of running back for 2023. Is Treyaun Webb the most likely candidate to land in Happy Valley? Can JaJuan Seider work his magic in Florida and get the four-star runner to Pennsylvania? Or will more players emerge and this list expand? Bauer and T-Frank discuss the state of this position before moving on to tight a much clearer position.  Receiver has an apparent leader for the Nittany Lions in four-star wideout from the Pittsburgh area, Rodney Gallagher. How many players can Penn State take in this cycle? Snyder gives his thoughts on four-star prospects Noah Rogers, Ejani Shakir, and local Dallastown product Kenny Johnson. Tight end is another set position for Penn State after the commitments of Exeter Township's Joey Schlaffer and four-star prospect Neeo Avery from Good Counsel. It's also the position that's had the most change, with players like Mathias Barnwell likely switching positions and Avery showing great promise as a defensive end. So could Penn State add another player here? Snyder gives his thoughts.  The offensive line is not as set as the tight end but already has three committed prospects. Penn State has already secured commitments from two interior players in high four-star talent Alex Birchmeier, Trinity Christian guard Josh Miller and tackle/guard prospect Anthony Donkoh from Alide, VA  So, as always, who are the tackle prospects? Snyder mentions several, including national candidates like Luke Montgomery and Chase Bisontis, but Gonzaga's four-star tackle Evan Link is his top target. He explains why. He also brings up several other important players like Thayer Academy's Samson Okunlola but has reservations about where they stand at the moment.  The defensive line is chocked with talent, so T-Frank and Snyder start at edge defender and work inside. Five-star edge rusher Nyckoles Harbor leads the list but is joined by his teammate at Archbishop Carrol,  Joseph Mupoyi. It's a deep list that includes Top 250 players David Ojiegbe, Dylan Gooden and  Desmond Umeozulu. But the list also includes under-the-radar candidates Mason Robinson, and Michael Kilbane. Snyder gives viewers a sense of their possibility, interest level in Penn State and vice versa.  The defensive line is not short on talent as we switch to defensive tackle. Penn State already has athlete Mathias Barnwell verbally committed, and the 6-6 athlete prospect recently told Snyder that he'd like to play tackle. Throw on top of that Dematha Catholic standout Jason Moore. The list is already strong before getting to four-star prospects Jason Moore, Derrick LeBlanc, Will Norman, John Walker, Joel Starlings, Justin Benton, and Sydir Mitchell. How many can the Nittany Lions take? How many will they want to take? Snyder gives his thoughts about the group.  Finally, T-Frank and Snyder wrap up the show discussing the most important players and positions mentioned that are "can't miss" players for Penn State in this cycle.  Learn more about your ad choices. We're into the final stretch of the Penn State football season, and with that comes the early signing period in recruiting. With less than a month until the deadline, On3 recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins host Thomas Frank Carr on the BWI Daily Edition to update the status of some final 2022 targets for the Nittany Lions.  They start with an update on four-star linebacker Jaishawn Barham, a 2022 prospect that Penn State fans have followed for quite some time. This week, Snyder has an update on the St. Francis Academy product that is the 149th player in the nation, according to On3. The ordinarily quiet Barham still isn't talking, but there is a new development in his recruiting.  The Nittany Lions are still interested in adding another tackle to the class of 2022 as well. Snyder says that after the commitment of Aamil Wagner to Notre Dame, the focus has shifted to a different player, but not the one that Penn State had pursued in the days around Wagener's commitment. T-Frank brings up the obvious issue of adding more players to this current class and asks how much getting a transfer lineman plays into the overall approach to the remaining scholarship spots Penn State is holding.  The last name to know this week is 2022 linebacker Moses Walker. The current Rutgers commit is someone that Snyder has learned more about in recent weeks and tells T-Frank what the updated situation is with the Erasmus Hall four-star defender.  With less than a month remaining, T-Frank asks Snyder how confident he is that Penn State can get the Class of 2022 to the finish line of the early signing period in December. Earlier this week on the recruiting podcast, Snyder noted that Kaytron Allen took an official visit to Florida State. He gives context to that again on the show.  After that, they move on to the Class of 2023 and some key names in that group. Snyder wrote an article recently about Life Christian Academy offensive lineman Joshua Miller, so he fills the audience in on what he learned. The four-start lineman at On3 opened up about just how close he was to committing early this month and to which school.  Another high-priority target in the class of 2023 will make an announcement early next month, and Snyder gives his impressions of what Rodney Gallagher will have to say at that time. The four-star two-sport athlete isn't expected to commit for several important reasons that Snyder highlights, but he does paint a good light for Penn State when it comes to the top-100 player in the class of 2023.  They wrap up the recruiting section of the show discussing the recruit list for the final home game of the 2021 season against Rutgers. Snyder notes that it won't be a list heavy with key names, but several players, including 2024 athlete Quinton Martin, are necessary to watch. He says he's gotten high praise for the Pittsburgh athlete from his sources and should be a name for Penn State fans to know.  Finally, Ryan Snyder's Best Bets returns with a 37-27 record. Host Thomas Frank Carr and recruiting analyst Ryan Snyder talk about five Class of 2023 recruits that you should be following in the months ahead. These players aren't ranked, nor are they the most-likely players to sign with Penn State in the next class, but they are critical pieces to the puzzle for next cycle. T-Frank and Ryan start with Lamont Payne, a four-star defensive back out of the Pittsburgh area and how he fits not only into the 2022 class, but also into 2023. From there they head back into PA to check out a two-sport standout in Rodney Gallagher, a receiver and basketball prospect from Uniontown, PA. T-Frank gives a quick overview of his first impression of Gallagher on highlight tape as well. Next they discuss a hotly contested prospect in four-star linebacker Josiah Trotter and how his brother Jeremiah's recruiting plays into the process this year. Both are the son of former Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Sr. After that T-Frank and Ryan discuss Luke Montgomery, another high profile Ohio native who plays for Finlay High School in Ohio. Finally they wrap up with track star, and four-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor out of Washington, DC. T-Frank and Ryan discuss why Harbor is being called 'a diamond' in the 2023 class.
