Penn State football recruiting finished July on a down note heading into the final month before the start of the 2022 football season. The BWI Daily recruiting show is back to look back at the news about Evan Link and Stanton Ramil and to look ahead at what's next for the class of 2023.  Host Greg Pickel starts with the news from Monday, which hits hard for Penn State fans. First, four-star tackle Evan Link chose Michigan in a surprise upset during his recruitment. The Gonzaga left tackle took an official visit to Penn State during June and then went silent for the rest of the month. Experts expected him to choose between Stanford and the Nittany Lions, but he ultimately ended up a Wolverine.  So how did all of that go down? Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder does his best to unpack the situation from the very quiet Link. More importantly, where does Penn State go from here? Fellow offensive tackle Stanton Ramil also chose a different school, selecting Michigan State over the Nittany Lions. So with the top players off the board, Penn State once again misses on an elite-level tackle prospect. Pickel and Snyder discuss that impact and what it will take for the Nittany Lions to recover.  Next, they review the Lasch Bash, Penn State's last big recruiting event of the year before game visits in the fall. They give a rundown of the names in attendance but also which high-level players didn't show up for the weekend. Penn State football filled several significant holes in the past four days with a commitment in recruiting and one in the transfer portal. That's the main focus of the BWI Daily Recruiting Show, hosted by Greg Pickel and Ryan Snyder. They'll discuss the stories of Demeioun Robinson, the former Maryland defensive end that committed to Penn State on Tuesday, and Class of 2023 quarterback Marcus Stokes, who announced his commitment on Friday. Finally, they'll dig into two more players that have Penn State in their top groups for the 2023 cycle. They start with the breaking news on Tuesday. Former four-star commit for the Class of 2021, Demeioun Robinson, chose Penn State fairly early in the process after entering the transfer portal late last month. The former top-50 player in the nation spent one season at Maryland before deciding to leave. Snyder fills in the gaps in his recruiting process, which the COVID-19 Pandemic derailed. He also provides some context about Penn State's contact with Robinson during that time and how that may have expedited his recruitment this spring. Pickel backs that conversation up with quotes from head coach James Franklin about how important Robinson's position was for Penn State in the portal. From there, they rewind the clock to Friday evening to discuss three-star quarterback Marcus Stokes' commitment to Penn State. The Ponte Vedra Beach, FL native, chose Penn State reasonably early in his recruiting process, and Snyder explains how that came about and how Stokes talks about the Nittany Lions. He also gives insight into where the currently unraked Stokes might land in the next update of On3's recruiting rankings. This weekend, Penn State football hosts several key recruits from both the portal and the following several recruiting classes. Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder joins the BWI Daily edition to discuss the critical names and positions Penn State is hosting over the next few hours. Host Thomas Frank Carr starts the show by addressing Penn State's immediate need, edge rusher. The team hosts former Maryland edge rusher Demeioun Robinson on Friday as they continue to seek help at that position in the portal. But, is he the answer that they seek? Yes, according to T-Frank. He explains what skills the former top 100 recruit has and why he might be the best option left after Penn State missed out on their top targets earlier this year. They start at quarterback, and while Dante Moore is on the list, the key names are JJ Kolh out of Iowa and Marcus Stokes out of Florida. So what makes those players the standouts? Snyder fills in what he knows and gives some personal thoughts on what Mike Yurcich is looking for in a quarterback. From there, they discuss the Penn State running back board, which includes a recent offer in Scranton Prep's London Montgomery. He and Florida rusher Treyaun Webb seem to be the clear-cut favorites to land at Penn State, but Snyder throws in other national names. At tight end, there's really only one name to know. Michigan commit Andrew Rappleyea wants to visit other schools after changes on the Michigan staff, and Penn State is one of his destinations. From there, they head to receiver and start with Penn State's top targets. Four-star receivers Rodney Gallagher and Noah Rogers remain the teams' highest priority targets while others stay in the mix, like Dallastown's Kenny Johnson. Penn State football wrapped up the Class of 2022 earlier this week so it's on to the next cycle. That's not just true for the Nittany Lions, but also Blue White Illustrated recruiting insider Ryan Snyder and the rest of the recruiting world as well. He joins host Thomas Frank Carr to give you Penn State's top targets at each position in the upcoming Class of 2023.  They start, as you always should, at the quarterback position. So what's the update with the Nittany Lions' efforts to land their top target, Dante Moore, out of Martin Luther King high school in Detroit? Why are they offering more quarterbacks like Florida prospect Marcus Stokes? Snyder gives his impressions on offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich's efforts to find his next signal-caller.  After that, they dip into the equally murky waters of running back for 2023. Is Treyaun Webb the most likely candidate to land in Happy Valley? Can JaJuan Seider work his magic in Florida and get the four-star runner to Pennsylvania? Or will more players emerge and this list expand? Bauer and T-Frank discuss the state of this position before moving on to tight a much clearer position.  Receiver has an apparent leader for the Nittany Lions in four-star wideout from the Pittsburgh area, Rodney Gallagher. How many players can Penn State take in this cycle? Snyder gives his thoughts on four-star prospects Noah Rogers, Ejani Shakir, and local Dallastown product Kenny Johnson. Tight end is another set position for Penn State after the commitments of Exeter Township's Joey Schlaffer and four-star prospect Neeo Avery from Good Counsel. It's also the position that's had the most change, with players like Mathias Barnwell likely switching positions and Avery showing great promise as a defensive end. So could Penn State add another player here? Snyder gives his thoughts.  The offensive line is not as set as the tight end but already has three committed prospects. Penn State has already secured commitments from two interior players in high four-star talent Alex Birchmeier, Trinity Christian guard Josh Miller and tackle/guard prospect Anthony Donkoh from Alide, VA  So, as always, who are the tackle prospects? Snyder mentions several, including national candidates like Luke Montgomery and Chase Bisontis, but Gonzaga's four-star tackle Evan Link is his top target. He explains why. He also brings up several other important players like Thayer Academy's Samson Okunlola but has reservations about where they stand at the moment.  The defensive line is chocked with talent, so T-Frank and Snyder start at edge defender and work inside. Five-star edge rusher Nyckoles Harbor leads the list but is joined by his teammate at Archbishop Carrol,  Joseph Mupoyi. It's a deep list that includes Top 250 players David Ojiegbe, Dylan Gooden and  Desmond Umeozulu. But the list also includes under-the-radar candidates Mason Robinson, and Michael Kilbane. Snyder gives viewers a sense of their possibility, interest level in Penn State and vice versa.  The defensive line is not short on talent as we switch to defensive tackle. Penn State already has athlete Mathias Barnwell verbally committed, and the 6-6 athlete prospect recently told Snyder that he'd like to play tackle. Throw on top of that Dematha Catholic standout Jason Moore. The list is already strong before getting to four-star prospects Jason Moore, Derrick LeBlanc, Will Norman, John Walker, Joel Starlings, Justin Benton, and Sydir Mitchell. How many can the Nittany Lions take? How many will they want to take?
