Happy fa la la la holidays everyone! Week 1 of the 2023 Christmas Around the Channels recap is here and what a strong start it was for Hallmark! Technically the season kicked off with GAC trying to start Christmas a week early, but Destined 2: Christmas Once More wasn't worthy of early airtime. But kicking it off for Hallmark, Checkin It Twice with Kevin McGarry and Kim Matula, followed by Where Are You, Christmas? on Saturday starting Lyndsy Fonseca and Michael Rady put the channel firmly into ratings first place. Both storylines were fun and the pairing was great for both. Twas The Text Before Christmas on GAC Saturday starring Merritt Patterson and Trevor Donovan was a definite step up for them garnering them a 3.75/5, and rounding out the week on Hallmark was Under the Christmas Sky featuring Ryan Paevey and Jessica Parker Kennedy. Unfortunately that one didn't have a lot of chemistry or a strong plot, but every other part of the movie kept it fresh enough for a 3.5/5. Listen now for all the best and worst parts and let's kick off the 2023 Christmas movie season together!
We welcome you back to the Hallmark Cafe for season two with two movies from the first weekend of the 2023 'Countdown to Christmas' on Hallmark. Will Kevin McGarry and Kim Matula get their debit cards back in Checkin' it Twice? And will the stars align for Jessica Parker Kennedy and Ryan Paevey in Under The Christmas Sky? As always, your table is ready!

Ho ho ho the week 7 2022 Christmas movie wrap up is here bringing lots of drama and good cheer with it! On the heels of Neal Bledsoe announcing his departure from GAC Family we have a lot to discuss with this week's movie lineup. Hallmark and Lifetime went back and forth this week on the best of. Lifetime's Thursday movie, Serving up the Holidays was not a watch, while Cloudy with a Chance of Christmas on Friday was a redemption chemistry movie for Brandon Quinn, A New Orleans Noel on Saturday took the top award, and they rounded out with Merry Textmas that had a great title and plot but again - the chemistry just wasn't there for me. Hallmark started with A Big Fat Family Christmas which was good but slow to help the main character, and then moved to a magical storybook movie with A Fabled Holiday starring one of my favorites, Ryan Paevey. Their HMM movie The Holiday Stocking once again left me in absolute shambles and they finished strong winning Sunday with Undercover Holiday. UpTV proved why I could really do without their movies most of the time with absolute train wrecks both Friday and Saturday with Christmas in the Wilds and Christmas on the Slopes. Their Sunday movie Christmas on the Rocks which featured another Sarah, actually earned a high 4 despite their terrible movie poster. That leaves us with GAC Family again. Candace Cameron Bure had another feature film with her good friend Andrea Barber in the lead role in Candy Cane Lane, but what is with all the marriage problems this year?? Sunday they had B&B Merry featuring a typecast Jesse Hutch and Jen Lilley and it was the first movie of hers I didn't want to turn off in the first five minutes so that says a lot for both films. All that plus more laughs now! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Others include “Planning for Joy” also from 2022 and “A Mrs. Miracle Christmas” from 2021 which premiered on the HM&M channel. E.S. Dolan Dix is credited with the story and only has this one title and nothing else on IMDB. The teleplay was written by Samantha Herman who has 12 writing credits including “Our Italian Christmas Memories,” “A Christmas Tree Grows in Colorado,” and a bunch more. My least favorite being “Mingle All the Way.” Related: Listen to our review of "Mingle All the Way" Filmed in British Columbia, mainly in Vancouver, Abbotsford, and Pitt Meadows. Clayburn Village Store in Abbotsford was used for a few scenes. The store has also been used in several other Hallmark movies including “Open By Christmas,” “A Glenbrook Christmas,” and “Christmas in Evergreen.” Lindsay Stirling is an American violinist. Where she meets Dylan, played by Ryan Paevey, who has been tasked to buy the lodge Paige loves so much. We are in the final episode of April's Learning How to Love and are recapping Don't Go Breaking My Heart, starring Italia Ricci as Miranda and Ryan Paevey as Ben. Miranda is the founder of a popular boot camp for the recently broken hearted. Ben gets roped into joining and sparks fly as both Miranda and Ben navigate their feelings and attempt to mend their broken hearts. In this episode we analyze why Hallmark movies are so weenie heavy (hot dogs not man meat), How calling someone 'Bro' should be a punchable offense and how we reeeally must want the movie to take place in Seattle instead of Portland. The geography is horrible in this movie but the love advice is pretty decent in Don't Go Breaking My Heart.

We've been hard on the Hallmark Channel this year for their baby steps towards inclusivity in their original movies but at least they are making forward progress and we can appreciate that. We'd love to talk with Paul Campbell or Emilie Ullerup, or any Hallmark actors, writers, or directors who have feelings about the GAC Family mission and on taking future work with that company. News and Notes Filming started in August and wrapped in September. Filmed in and around Vancouver, British Columbia. Including Bridge Studios to film interior spaces. We SWEAR the interior of the Coyote Creek Inn was the same interior used in Janel Parish's last Hallmark film Right in Front of Me though we cannot find anything to confirm - other than our eyes say so. Cameron Bancroft plays Rick Parker, Paige's dad. Brancroft played college-student Joe Bradley in Beverly Hills, 90210. He is 54 years old. Janel Parish is 33. Yes, age-wise, he could be her dad. But, this dude was acting like he was ready to find a spot at an assisted living facility. Why is he taking super mature roles? No digital snow in the making of this Hallmark movie. This week, I am again joined by Kayla as we review 2 of the four new Christmas movies this week, titled Christmas in Harmony starring Ashleigh Murray and Luke James, as well as Coyote Creek Christmas starring Janel Parrish and Ryan Paevey. One theme we found occurring in both of these movies is "Sucky Parents and Misplaced Anger". Parents of the leading lady in both movies kept huge secret from their daughter and instead of being even remotely angry at the parents, she took it out on her love interest. In "Christmas in Harmony", we had a good laugh at the title, share our wish for more singing, and the disappointment that it wasn't like Sister Act movies, lol. "Coyote Christmas" was a bore. We both found the storyline just boring. The real star of the movie was Azriel Dalman who played Noah. He should definitely be in more Hallmark movies. A couple of things happened this week. Lol. Two Hallmark actors spoke publicly on their stance with GAC. Paul Campbell and Emilie Ullerup have put out statements along the lines of they will not be working for the company unless they see significant inclusion in the channel. We were also featured in a Heavy article about these very statements since these statements were prompted by Camille calling out these actors. https://heavy.com/entertainment/hallmark/hallmark-stars-speak-out-gac-family/ November is also Epilepsy Awareness Month. Kayla has epilepsy. Guys, I can't lie (seriously I'd be off Santa's nice list) Hallmark absolutely CRUSHED it this week in the 2021 Christmas movie line up. Okay, Christmas in Harmony wasn't my favorite, but Coyote Creek Christmas with Janel Parrish and Ryan Paevey? If there's not a sequel next year I swear…and HMM dominated the 10pm spot again with The Christmas Promise with a true American icon Patrick Duffy. Rounding it out was Christmas Sail and I wasn't expecting much but left crying so, you could say Hallmark nailed this weekend's movies. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Our last Octo-Bare Chested episode is also our Halloween episode, full of magic and kisses as dry as a witches broom. We are covering A Kind of Magic aka You Cast a Spell on Me. It stars Nikki Deloach as Sara and Ryan McPartlin as Matt. Sara, a 'regular' girl, inadvertently steals the warlock Matt's powers when they kiss and mayhem ensues. In this episode we discuss what we would do with magical powers (hint: it involves Ryan Paevey and ice cream sandwiches). Corinne does some Jesus math and we promote our new, fake party planning business, complete with mediocre decorations and us running in sprinklers. We are stirring our potions and hope you join us for A Kind of Magic aka You Cast a Spell on Me.

We are deep into our Octo-bare chested month with Unleashing Mr. Darcy starring Cindy Busby as Elizabeth and the very fetching Ryan Paevey as Mr. Darcy. This Hallmark movie is very loosely based on the book Pride and Prejudice and we are not proud that we loved it so much. In this episode we discuss: how the batteries are dead in our biological clocks, the art of styling an anorexic ponytail and how macaroons definitely aren't cake! We were begging for more shirtless action and we got it with this movie.

Countdown to Christmas begins on Friday, October 22, 2021 with new movies expected to premiere every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It was recently announced that there will be 41 original movies this holiday season premiering across many of Hallmark's entertainment platforms, including Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and the Hallmark Movies Now app. Will the Hollywood Strike Affect Hallmark Movies? According to Heavy.com, the impending IATSE strike could possibly affect the production of new Hallmark movies either not filmed yet or not completed with post-production. It will be interesting to watch this unfold over the next few weeks. What Movies are in 2021 Countdown to Christmas? Of the 41 original new movies, Hallmark has released the titles, cast, and synopses for only nine movies. We know the turn around time on these movies is really tight. Some movies on the schedule are likely not even in production yet. On September 30, 2021 @SleepyKittyPaw shared this list of movies expected to premiere during Countdown to Christmas. This person says they are 99% sure the 19 movies listed under "Not Yet Officially Announced" are all for the Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas. Now know of 41 new, original holiday movies produced, or soon-to-film, for Hallmark, with NO acquisitions—a first for the network. This week I review the fourth movie of the second wave of the Summer Night series titled "A Little Daytime Drama" starring Jen Lilley and Ryan Paevey. I didn't like this movie. There were several things I had issues with. Too many storylines, there was no flow and the romantic angle was weak. But I do have to say this is the most relatable character Ryan has ever played for Hallmark and love the shoutouts to soap opera tropes. I gave it 2.5 stars. Where do broken hearts go? To Miranda's Breakup Boot Camp, of course! But when a hunky but cynical journalist stumbles in looking for a scoop, will he find himself hot for teacher? If teacher is the gorgeous Italia Ricci and he is dreamy Ryan Paevey, they just might have to throw ethics to the wind and take a ride up to Makeout Point. Mary and Charlie loved this movie, but we still have some questions: * Who did the amazing score/soundtrack? * Is Bink really a name? * Why won't Miranda hire someone who is actually qualified? * Since when is Portland so spotless? * How come no one touched the chocolate-covered strawberries? * Can everyone stop with escape rooms? * Did Romy and Michele inspire one of the scenes? And if you listen to the very end, you'll learn a new dating rule that could help you find your own Hallmark love story.
Today, Stephanie and Kerrie review Hallmark Channel's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart". Listen in to find out what they liked, didn't like, and where they thought Ryan Paevey maybe didn't fit the criteria for the role. This week we review the second movie of Hallmark's Spring Fling series "Don't Go Breaking my Heart" starring Italia Ricci and Ryan Paevey. Dr. Miranda Faraday (Ricci) owns a boot camp to help people heal from a broken heart. Mary and Sarah invite their friend Matt to help rewrite the clever Back to the Future-esk story, A TIMELESS CHRISTMAS. Charles Whitley travels from 1903 to 2020 where he meets Megan Turner and experiences a 21st Century Christmas. Starring Erin Cahill and Ryan Paevey.
In this week's Girls Gone Christmas episode, Megan and Wendy recap Hallmark Channel's "A Timeless Christmas" starring Ryan Paevey and Erin Cahill. Listen in as the girls recap and review the tale of Charles Whitley (Ryan Paevey), who mysteriously disappears in 1903 and awakes in a non-pandemic 2020. Will Megan Turner (Erin Cahill) fall for this time traveler and will they experience the true joy of the Christmas holiday? Does A Timeless Christmas stand the test of...time? Fun facts about A Timeless Christmas A Timeless Christmas was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This article from Heavy.com talks about the set location at historic Hycroft Manor. Though filmed during the late summer of 2020, this movie which takes place in 2020 does not depict any of what we know 2020 to be. This Hallmark Channel Christmas movie was first a book written by Alex Stanton. We think this explains why there is one through-line with the plot, instead of 10 as seen in Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater. You can expect a brand new, bonus podcast episode each Thursday! Congratulations to Orchard Hill Inclusive, who won best of breed for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels at the 2020 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. We're dedicating this show to him. We're going to be the judges of this movie, but unlike the dog show, the judging guidelines are easier to understand. And Happy Valentine's Day to all.
