You may remember her from MTV's Awkward, many Hallmark movies, and as a member of the popular 90's cult classic show “The Mickey Mouse Club” alongside Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera, to name a few of the iconic cast. I had the pleasure of meeting her at 90's Con.In this episode, Nikki and I reconnect over parenting, caregiving, the healthcare system, and her advocacy efforts with Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Mind What Matters, and The Alzheimer's Association. Nikki has been in the business for decades, from her early days in The Mickey Mouse Club to her girl group Innosense to now being a Hallmark leading lady. She is taking her experience and now writing and producing her own movies with Hallmark. Nikki is part of the new era Hallmark is creating. They are telling more stories that represent their diverse audience. The throughline for Nikki is to tell authentic stories.Nikki also shares her experience grieving her father's passing while working and how that has pushed her to a greater depth of authenticity in her work. She recently starred in A Gift of Peace, exclusively on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, which highlights grief in the midst of the holiday season. Nikki is SO REAL, and I am so appreciative of Nikki sharing her story and life experiences. I know it will encourage anyone to be more honest with themselves and with others.Follow Nikki @nikdeloach on Instagram and @nikkideloach on Twitter. Movie recommendations or comments for us? Text us here!Happy Halloween Eve, everybody! We watched the least spooky Halloween rom com imaginable this year. A Kind of Magic (aka You Cast a Spell on Me) is a 2015 romantic comedy starring Nikki Deloach and Ryan McPartlin. Matt is a witch. He is also part-owner of a successful juice business. He has money, looks, a yellow convertible and one really strong charm person spell that he uses in every non-witch interaction. The only thing Matt doesn't have is a wife, and that's a problem because if he isn't married to another witch by the time he turns 36 (which is apparently a few months away), he'll lose his powers. He has an arranged marriage to his childhood friend and business partner. He's okay with that plan until he meets a Halloween-loving lady at a party. Does he know her name? No. Does he know what she does for a living? No. Did they drink three bottles of wine together and kiss? Yes. Yes, they did.Now his powers are going haywire and he has no idea how to find the woman who stole both his magic and his heart.Listen to our thoughts today! Gregg Rossen has written a TON of Hallmark movies including The Professional Bridesmaid, The Winter Palace, The Santa Stakeout and more. Her next Hallmark film is the Tyler Hynes movie "Never Been Chris'd." It's a blessing to be able to celebrate with others when joyful things happen in their lives. But it's also an honor to be able to stand by someone when they are heavy with sorrow and joy seems nowhere to be found.  Popular Christian writer Karen Kingsbury and her son Tyler Russell help others celebrate the joy of their faith by writing stories for families through their Baxter Family children's books. Pastor David Emmanuel Goatley, the sixth president of Fuller Theological Seminary, has traveled all over the world as a minister and has been inspired at how Christians from all walks of life hold each other up and bear each other's burdens, no matter how much or how little they have.   Links, Products, and Resources Mentioned: Jesus Calling Podcast Jesus Calling Jesus Always Jesus Listens Past interview: Nikki DeLoach and Pat Bradley Upcoming interview: Cleere Cherry Reaves   Karen Kingsbury  Tyler Russell  Philippians 4 NIV NIV Bible  Strong's Exhaustive Concordance Los Angeles Daily News Baxter Family Children books Being Baxters John 16:33 NIV Colossians 3:23 NIV 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 NIV www.karenkingsbury.com A Thousand Tomorrows   David Emmanuel Goatley Fuller Theological Seminary   Interview Quotes: “The family that God puts you in are the ones who are going to be with you forever, so really foster those relationships and pour into those relationships.” - Tyler Russell “I had a beautiful relationship with the Lord, but I was still seeing pain. I was still seeing people going through hard things. And I just didn't think that Christian fiction would be able to handle that. I want to tell stories that are real and true.” - Karen Kingsbury “We really do both want to serve the Lord first. That's kind of our top thing in everything we do, we want to please God first.” - Tyler Russell “Prayer is an all day, everyday thing for me. I am so thankful to be able to walk through this life not alone, but with Jesus, and knowing that I have His presence beside me.” - Karen Kingsbury “I believe that we need to love and laugh often and look for the miraculous in the everyday and lean hard into our relationship with Jesus.” - Karen Kingsbury “My father's orientation was that you always talked about church and community together. You never spoke of church in isolation from the community because the church should be embedded in community, and the community was informing the life of the church.” - David Emmanuel Goatley “We were taught to be salt for the earth and light for the world, and so you have to engage the world that God puts you in so that you can bear good and faithful witness. I think that that kind of nurture helped to inform who I have become and how I see the world.” - David Emmanuel Goatley “I think it's important for students to listen to and learn from the testimonies of people in the global church.” - David Emmanuel Goatley “I don't recall ever feeling like the hard work of Christian leadership has not been worth it. There have been times where the weight of it has been heavy and wearisome and draining and fatiguing. There have been those times where it's been a headache, but I have not felt that it's not worth it. I've been fortunate to sense that I am where the Lord has sent me.” - David Emmanuel Goatley “If we don't try to get out in front of Jesus and we let Jesus lead us, then we'll make it through the sleepless nights and we'll make it through the anxious moments, and then we will be able to look back on it and say, ‘The Lord both led me through it and taught me something in it.' The Lord has been exceedingly kind. And for that, I'm grateful.“ - David Emmanuel Goatley ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! Today on Vulnerable, I get to chat with Nikki DeLoach. All of us have experienced what we like to call “gut feelings.” At various times in each of our lives, it's been that deep intuition that perhaps moved us to make a decision that was good for us—choosing one thing over, or avoiding a situation that didn't feel quite right. Other times, perhaps we didn't follow that quiet tug on our hearts, and pursued a different route—maybe ending up in a less than ideal result. However we view those gut feelings, the message is the same; God will always find a way to reach us. He is that "still small voice" that Elijah heard (I Kings 19:12), and in our lives often presents itself as that deep intuition about who we are and what we should do.  Our guests this week had those “gut feeling” moments that they ended up following that led to some pretty amazing things in their lives. Hallmark actress and producer Nikki DeLoach tells about her singularly-focused dream to become an actress and how she felt the pull to learn how to “tell stories” by learning how to produce projects as well. Pat Bradley worked for Crisis Aid International ministry for years, helping people all over the world. But it wasn't until he felt the unexplainable tug toward helping people in a place no one else wanted to go that he had to trust where his heart was leading him. They both found that the more time they spent in conversation with God, the more they could trust the “still small voice” of their intuition to lead them to the right place.   Links, Products, and Resources Mentioned: Jesus Calling Podcast Jesus Calling Jesus Always Jesus Listens Past interview: Emily Chang Upcoming interview: Kevin Olusola I Kings 19:12   Nikki DeLoach Ryan Goodell Hallmark Christmas movies Hallmark Channel Children's Hospital of Los Angeles The Gift of Peace   Pat Bradley  Crisis Aid International Open Doors International Christian ConcernColin Powell www.crisisaid.org   Interview Quotes: “I spent a lot of time looking up at God saying, 'Why, why not me? Did you forget about me? And what I didn't realize in those moments was that I was actually very deeply being taken care of by God because I just didn't know what fame would have done to me at such a young age." - Nikki DeLoach "I don't care about the color of your skin. I don't care about your gender. I don't care about your socioeconomic level. I don't care about what religious faith you're in. What I care about is; are you in need? Can I help you? Can I pray for you? Let's be in community together. That's how Jesus lived his life." - Nikki DeLoach "Christmas is really about remembering what's most important. Are we alive? Are we breathing? Are we honoring the ones we've lost? Are we being good to other people? Are we giving back? That's Christmas." - Nikki DeLoach "Somebody had to do something in these hopeless situations. God really did put it on my heart that doing nothing was no longer an option." - Pat Bradley "The 'no go' zones were areas where no one was going to help people. And we found ourselves to be the only ones in there doing something." - Pat Bradley ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel! Is it possible that Lacey Chabert is the actual queen of Hallmark Channel movies? According to ShowBuzzDaily, Lacey's movies are breaking Hallmark records. The Wedding Veil which premiered on January 8, 2022, was the most watched cable television program of the night outside of sports programming. The Wedding Veil Unveiled which premiered on February 12, 2022, was again the most watched cable television show outside of sports programming. While Lacey had little screen time in The Wedding Veil 2, she serves as Executive Producer for the trilogy. Lacey's Christmas movies over the last two years have far out performed Candace Cameron Bure's movies. So tell us, why aren't we giving Lacey Chabert the due she deserves? Or maybe Hallmark Channel is with The Wedding Veil event that she stars in, has an executive producer title, and handpicked the cast.
