--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/madmike3/message

'Top Gun: Maverick' Star Danny Ramirez Talks 'Tales of the Walking Dead' now streaming on AMC+ and Airing on AMC Sunday, September 18, 2022. Danny Ramirez claims to be lucky, but after having stared in Top Gun: Maverick alongside living legend Tom Cruise and now co-staring with the incredible talents of Terry Crews, Poppy Liu, Jillian Bell, Jay T. Usher, Anthony Edwards (Goose from the original Top Gun) and Daniella Pineda, 'Tales of the Walking Dead' is shaping up to be one of the most exiting casts in 'The Walking Dead' expanded universe. The weekly one-hour episodic anthology series follows our ensemble cast through various haunts as they survive in this world. Ramirez, who plays Eric sings the praises of his castmates, including Terry Crews, who he met at San Diego Comic-Con this year. Crews' passion for the craft and performance felt infectious to Ramirez, only adding to the excitement. Each episode of 'Tales of the Walking Dead' has its own distinct tone and point of view – but the stakes are high in each story, pushing new, indelible characters with relentless, life-threatening choices and situations. We get to see the apocalypse through different eyes, discovering more worlds, mythos, and mysteries of 'The Walking Dead.' Ramirez and I joked that later in the season there will be a musical episode to cover every trope known to television. Somehow, creators Scott M. Gimple and Channing Powell have been to keep 'The Walking Dead' alive and interesting, something we though would have long lost its luster after the original series had come to an end. Thankfully, 'Tales of the Walking Dead' allows fans of horror and the zombie genre a fulfilling series that will keep them coming back for seasons to come. Gimple and Andrew Chambliss! Are the helicopters related to the ones we see in The Walking Dead? Will the group settle down or stay nomadic? You have to listen to find out! Leave your iTunes comments! 5 stars and nothing but love! Also, get a hold of us!   Thanks for listening!

Talking Through What Comes After!!! On this (longest ever) episode 87 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Mark and I are joined by Mark’s co-host on Panels to Pixels, Steve, as we talk through The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 5, which is titled What Comes After. The teleplay was written by co-executive producer Matthew Negrete, based on a story by TWD Chief Creative Officer Scott M. Gimple & Matthew Negrete, and directed by executive producer Greg Nicotero. We all loved this episode, though we also admit that it has some faults. SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! The rest of this blog post requires a SPOILER WARNING!!! If you haven’t watched this week’s episode, then you probably should stop now. Visitations from departed friends… and one soon to be A good portion of this episode is seen in hallucinations. Thankfully, we see three people he needs to see. The scene with Shane was priceless. Jon Bernthal was so good in this show in the first two seasons, and seeing Rick and Shane together again, even if only for a short minute, was great. The next hallucination was Hershel, played by the late Scott Wilson. This one really made me cry, both in the joy of seeing Hershel again, and sorrow over Scott Wilson’s recent passing in real life. The third was Sasha. You could argue that Sasha’s character was the only one that probably wasn’t the first choice, but seeing Sonequa Martin-Green’s character again probably hit me the hardest of all. I think that was mostly due to me being attached to because of her portrayal of Michael Burnham on Star Trek: Discovery. One could argue that one should have been Glenn, Abraham, or even Carl, but I think Sasha worked nonetheless. The last vision is with Michonne. I said soon to be, not because she is leaving, too, but because Rick is leaving, and Michonne will lose her partner. Maggie vs. Negan!!! Maggie reaches Alexandria, intent on killing Negan, but Michonne stops her. I thought this would be a standoff between them, but Maggie ultimately convinces Michonne to let her see Negan, despite knowing what would probably happen as a result. Maggie ultimately decides not to kill him, as that would give him the release he does not deserve. How is he not dead? Rick was bleeding throughout the episode, yet does not succumb to his injuries. The bridge explodes, and it seems that Rick somehow escapes without a scratch? How did that happen? He somehow survives both his rebar injury and the explosion and is taken via helicopter to who knows where. These helicopter people!!! We still don’t know what an A or a B is, but we do know that Rick is a B. I guess we may not know more until the first TWD movie comes out. Walking Dead: The Next Generation? In the final scene, we see that there’s been another time jump, as a new group of survivors being surrounded by walkers, only to be rescued by the 10-year-old Judith Grimes! This looks interesting, and we’ll see where the story goes from here! As expected, ratings are up… As you can see from these rating and viewer charts, created by me, you’ll see that ratings were up again, with 2.07 in the 18-49 demographic, slightly above the 1.95 from last week, and 5.414 million viewers, slightly up from 5.095 million last week. What ratings will do after this episode is anyone’s guess. They could go up again, or take another nosedive. Only time will tell.

Mark, my TWDTT co-host and I are joined by Kristin, who also was able to participate in the Season 8 finale roundtable (TWDTT #80 on the feed) earlier this week, and Malika, who was a guest host on TWDTT #67. Unfortunately, my co-host for Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through, Kyle, tried but was tied up and could not participate. He returned for the feedback episodes, though, that you’ll hear in the next couple of days. What’s Your Story? was written by Scott M. Gimple & Andrew Chambliss & Ian B. Goldberg, and directed by John Polson. The Big Survival Sunday Crossover!!! This was the big crossover episode that we’ve been expecting for months since this was first announced. This story tells the story of Morgan’s journey to Texas after All Out War, and meeting gunslinger John Dorie and later journalist turned badass Althea. We also see a few of our beloved characters from The Walking Dead take part in the story: Rick, Carol, and Jesus. We all really enjoyed this first episode in the new era of Fear, and can’t wait for the next episode. A few more episodes are still coming your way! We will be releasing two feedback episodes in the coming days that were recorded Thursday night, one for The Walking Dead season finale, and one for this episode. You can find the feedback episode for What’s Your Story, feedback for the TWD season finale, and the TWD season finale roundtable. Ratings were up! Ratings were up considerably from the last season finale. Fear got a 1.63 in the 18-49 demographic, with 4.090 million viewers. That’s up from 0.80 and 2.230 million viewers last year. I think you’ll agree that, yet again, both guest hosts did a fantastic job discussing the mid-season finale! We were warned by AMC that we would be shocked by something that would happen at the end of the episode, and most of us were, although that wasn’t our primary emotion. On the Facebook group, the majority of respondents in our poll were feeling sad after this episode, many were confused, some mad, some were indifferent, amazed and even happy and a few of us were all of the above. I felt many emotions about it, which I share in the episode. STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE EPISODE!!! Initially, I LOVED this episode, but after repeat viewings and thinking about the episode more, some of that love has faded. This episode has a lot of plot holes, some things I did not like, and some real head-scratchers. I’m more positive than many, but I can’t help but criticize this episode, and much of the season so far. I still love the show, but I can’t help but wonder what I would have done differently if I had my writing cap on, and I think a lot of people are there with me. In this episode, we learn that the Saviors were able to escape the Sanctuary. They attack Alexandria, The Kingdom and the leaders of The Hilltop. I believe Maggie and the group were heading to The Sanctuary relatively simultaneously. It completely changed the course of the war. I didn’t get into it too much during the recording, but exactly how many Saviors are there? The “AHK” or like I say in the podcast, “HAK” (for Hilltop, Alexandria and The Kingdom) wiped out all three outposts. Well, the Saviors don’t know The Hilltop has 38 POW’s, but they are effectively out of the war for now. Yet, it seems that The Sanctuary STILL has enough “Negans” to take over all three at the same time! How? And how quickly did they come up with this plan? Burying the lead… OK, I’m burying the lead. We learn that Carl has been bitten, and in a place that can’t be amputated. Both by going back and re-watching the episode more than once, and by listening to showrunner Scott M. Gimple on Talking Dead, he was bitten while helping Siddiq “release souls” in S8E6, which is something that was mentioned during our episode 69 as a possibility. I am sad to see the character go, but the show has always done well when departing from the comic book. The imminent death of Carl, which will probably happen next episode, will pull the story in new directions and not follow the comic book. We can only hope things get better. Ratings are up! How It’s Gotta Be got a 3.36 in the 18-49 demographic, with 7.885 million viewers, up from 3.28 and 7.468 million that S8E7 Time For After got last week.

Hey, you know what we never talked about on the actual podcast? The repeated use of dialogue that had sexual overtones. There was a LOT of it, you guys.Timothy: There was, and it was very, very weird. It seemed like it had to be on purpose, and yet what that purpose could be isn't remotely clear. Dustin: Which is really what it all comes down to, even if we would have said probably a lot of things you'd have to bleep out as we laughed uncomfortably about it. Instead we talk a lot about how this episode is kinda filler, even if we get Negan in a kinda-tolerable way and the Rick and Daryl comedy hour.Timothy: And we get the joys of board meetings. Talking Through Start to Finish The season 6 midseason finale is finally here with the 8th episode, Start to Finish and what a doozy! While perhaps not as strong as past mid-season finales, this episode ended on what appears to be another huge cliffhanger. The show begins and ends with poor Sam, who is not adapting to this new world as fast as his mother. After spending all of his time since the wolf attack upstairs, his first venture downstairs will be to walk through a huge herd of walkers wearing a guts poncho. Understandably, he is unsure of himself; and in his moment of uncertainty, he calls out for his mother. But that’s just the end! In this episode of TWDTT, we discuss all of the many other juicy, intense, and crazy scenes that are in Start to Finish. Only one death? Surprisingly, only one person died in this episode, but based on past experience, we won’t believe Deanna is dead until we see a body. Will everyone else make it through the mid-season premiere? Other characters also end the episode in peril, and we have to wait until February 14th to find out their fates! In the meantime, we can contemplate what went wrong with the first half of season 6, and what went right. There are grumblings on the internet about our favorite show, and some fans are calling for Scott M. Gimple to be sacked as showrunner. Others chastise the show for lazy writing, and I have to say, I’m glad that I’m not the only one who has noticed it! Are the problems that some see with the show really problems, or are they little hiccups along the way? What did you think? Tell us what you think about this and anything else on our feedback page. We plan on having some hiatus content, including a recap of the first half, and we want to know what you all think. Gimple who is also the current showrunner for AMC's The Walking Dead.  We're not sure if we can say enough good things about this show.  Enjoy us closing out the final episode of our "Back to School" month.  Next week is Jem and the Holograms!

Attack of the Killer Soundtrack #11 - Attack of Ookla the Mok!  This week we are coming to you “live” from ConGlomeration, where we hang out with Rand and Adam, otherwise known as the band: Ookla the Mok! They are a musical duo with an interesting history in the business as well as mass amounts of geek knowledge that make them fit right in on our show. So we not only discuss pop culture references in music and movies, but along the way… we also build a terrific soundtrack. And as we all attempt to keep from getting Garfunkel-ized, we also mention… Fillmore!, sci fi and comic book conventions, The Police, Gym Class Heroes, my father imposing his taste on us, Medieval Evil Knievel, James Gunn, Bite Me Fanboy, The Big Bang Theory, two frontmen, an action figure of the guys that wrote the theme song, The Toy Collector, finding your tribe, oh Sting where is thy death, working with Disney, when they cut the song... they cut the whole scene, pretentious progressive bands, Marillion, my fingers don't stretch wide enough to play the gap that he's doing, Captain America: Winter's Soldier, Barenaked Ladies, I definitely don't remember a time when I wasn't a nerd, playing the bar and club scene, The Who, music rights on DVD, WKRP in Cincinnati, ok... we'll hire someone to rip that off, pop music, double-length concept albums, the music is serious even if the concept is funny, the legally distinguishable version, Because You Demanded It!, Full Frontal Nerdity, he doesn’t make movies with villains, The Specials, They say you should write about what you know... and we were college students. What the hell did we know?, playing me Frank Zappa when I was 4 years old, They Might Be Giants, Daria, Scott M. Gimple, who's the next Martin Scorsese?, The Eels, Cupid's Chokehold, not allowed to listen to the radio, fighting over song writing credit, giving up your likeness rights, Lawrence Kasdan, Chinese food and live-action heroes, the filk community and keep your money... just let me punch you in the face every couple of weeks. "I'm not gonna NOT be the lead singer..." For more on Ookla the Mok, go to: http://www.ooklathemok.com/ For more on ConGlomeration, go to: http://www.conglomeration.info/

With only one Season 3 episode to go, Ricky, Kate and Simon are joined by SoS regular Dan Heaton for a typically heated discussion of “This Sorrowful Life,” penned by new showrunner Scott M. Gimple and directed by effects whiz Greg Nicotero. Discussed: trusting in showrunners, Rick’s decision-making skills, Andrew Lincoln vs. Norman Reedus, marriage, ...
