At one point, David pleaded with the king to give up this pointless manhunt, saying, “Why is my lord pursuing his servant? What have I done, and what wrong am I guilty of?” (1 Samuel 26:18). Although the king relented that day, it would still be some time before David could settle down in one place. How exhausting it must have been to be constantly hounded that way for so many years! You likely do not have a mortal enemy like young David did. But maybe you have felt chased in a more metaphorical way—constantly pursued by memories of past mistakes, of words or actions that make you blush or inwardly moan just to think of them years later. Hounded by a guilty conscience, we may even begin to doubt whether God will forgive us. David had that experience too, after making some terribly sinful choices later in life. He wrote in Psalm 51: “For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.” In the closing verse of what is probably David’s most famous psalm, he writes of a very different kind of chase: “Surely your goodness and love will follow me [literally, pursue me] all the days of my life.” David had learned that no matter how great our sin, the Lord’s love for us is even greater. Scottish poet and writer Jenny Lindsay's artistic career was derailed when she spoke out against the violent tactics used by gender identity activists. Today, Jenny is the author of "Hounded: Women, Harms and the Gender Wars," and her story illustrates what she calls the "secondary harms" of gender ideology - the ripple effects that occur when competent voices are silenced through systematic harassment campaigns.We explore how Jenny went from being "one of Scotland's leading performance poets" to being completely ostracized from the Scottish arts scene, not for discussing gender issues directly, but simply for defending women's right to meet and discuss proposed legal changes. Her experience reveals the parasitic nature of this ideology as it hollows out liberal institutions from within.Jenny breaks down what she identifies as the three core beliefs that get women labeled as "TERFs": that women are a materially definable category, that we have rights based on this reality, and that we deserve freedom of speech on matters affecting us. When actor Clifton Duncan dared to go against his industry's orthodoxy on COVID-19, he found out the hard way that the expectations for conformity can be unforgiving. Hounded out of his profession, he took comfort in discovering the work of another celebrated nonconformist, economist Thomas Sowell. While Sowell's peers were arguing for socialist economic policies to address the alleged injustice of institutional racism, Sowell boldly stood up for free markets and personal responsibility. GMTD babies! We're energized yet traumatized this week because we watched “Hounded”! And here to trauma bond with us is Myke Thompson (whose life eerily mirrors the exact plot of this movie???). If we're being honest, this movie is mostly about a possessed pomeranian who absolutely ruins the lives of two separate families. It is one of the most insane and hard to watch DCOMs these humble hosts have ever had to sit through. The DESTRUCTION of a house, the DESTRUCTION of a man, and the DESTRUCTION of our will to live is a testament to what kind of film you're in for. It's hard to really understand what kind of torture this movie is, but just know there is a stolen speech, the threat of military school, a DICK older brother (hot though), EXTORTION, bowling balls to the face, a bag full of turkeys, and a dog with 20 lives.
