What do you do when your ex comes back into your life like a ghost from the past? Well, James is being haunted by the ex of all exes—the one who inspired this very podcast! To help him unpack this unexpected twist, he's calling in backup from his sista friend, Mackenzie Green. Together, they dive into the big questions: Do you respond? Do you block? And most importantly, how do you trust your gut when the past comes knocking? Whether you're facing your own Michael Myers situation or just curious about why this keeps happening, James and Mackenzie have you covered with laughs, wisdom, and a few petty confessions. Our guest this week is Mackenzie Green (she/her): Vice President of Social at Future Media and co-host of The Taylor Strecker Show. With over a decade of digital marketing experience, Mackenzie is also a proud blerd, dog mom, marathon runner, and advocate for women and girls through her work with organizations like the Shoebox Project and the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles. Poverty is like a punishment for a crime you didn't commit… especially when we look at the children who suffer these circumstances. Every child deserves to be loved, taken care of, and enjoy Christmas time. Every child deserves a Santa Shoebox!  The Santa Shoebox Project was started in 2006 as a way for people to provide gifts to children who often go without during the festive season. The first roll-out saw just 180 gift boxes distributed to children in need. In 2020, that number crossed the 1 million mark. The Project, which is now in its 16th year, is an inspiring community initiative that collects uniquely personalised gifts for underprivileged children. Equally, the project is about parents teaching their own children the Joy of Giving. “When a donor pledges a Santa Shoebox, they promise a child the gift of self-worth and fulfilled potential. These are so much more than “just” a shoebox; each donor fills a decorated shoebox with 8 required items – a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and a facecloth, school supplies, a toy, sweets and an outfit of clothing.” The Santa Shoebox team joined the Good Things Guy Podcast to discuss the awesome initiative as well as this year's theme: Let the haves share the love!

On this week's episode of The Diet Obsessed Podcast, I had the honor of interviewing MacKenzie Green, my first celebrity interview! Mackenzie is an incredibly accomplished woman, she is the Vice President of social media for Who What Wear/Clique Brands. She is a graduate of Columbia Business School and the University of Miami.  She serves as president of the University of Miami Young Alumni Council, board member of the US chapters of the Shoebox Project, University of Miami alumni board of directors, and Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles board member. A proud graduate of the UCLA Riordan MBA Fellows Program, she holds two SunCoast Emmys, served as the former vice-chair of the National Council of Negro Women (for which she was awarded the Legacy Award by the Southern Youth Leadership Development Institute), a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and held the title of Miss DC USA in 2010.  I first heard MacKenzie as a co-host on The Taylor Strecker Show, which is a podcast I review quite often and I wanted to have MacKenzie on for a few reasons:1) Mackenzie and Taylor had a conversation about diet culture, the patriarchy and basically, how many of us women are messed up in the head, because of what society has taught us.  2) In a past episode of this podcast, I reviewed a book called "Fearing the Black Body, The Racial Origins of Fat Phobia" by Sabrina Strings.  It's a fascinating book and not being a woman of color myself, I didn't feel right delving into this topic alone.  Mackenzie was gracious enough to join me to discuss her thoughts and share her knowledgeable  perspective.3) MacKenzie was a pageant queen and is also an athlete, so I was very curious about how she prepared to win Miss DC USA and her current regimen now.If any of these topics interest you or you're just a fan of MacKenzie, you will love this show!Download The Diet Obsessed Podcast and don't forget to rate, review and subscribe! Follow MacKenzie on Instagram @missusatomba and follow me on Instagram @thedietobsessedpodcast

The esteemed gentlefolks behind the Shoebox Podcast want to do a quick check in during tough times. First: We hope you're doing well, staying healthy, and keeping afloat during the pandemic. We want you all to know that we love you and are thinking of you. These times are tough, there's no getting around that. Please wash your hands, wear masks, and be extra kind. If you are struggling, we send you love.   Beyond that, we feel it imperative to stress that Black Lives Matter and always have. We are individually doing what we can to support the uprisings - protesting, donating, emailing, calling friends and family in and out, and overall attempting to hold employers and retailers and organizations accountable for their actions. We are all of us also looking inward and considering our part in the white supremacist patriarchy that we live in. Again, we send our love to everyone who is struggling right now.    And, of course, as a Harry Potter podcast, we felt it our duty to stand up and speak against the most recent hateful and transphobic statements from JKR.    It feels important to repeat the words of Bonnie Wright: if HP is a source of love and belonging to you, that love is infinite and there to take without judgement or question. That said, if your heart feels broken and you do not feel safe in this world, we understand. We behind the Shoebox Project Podcast want to make it very clear where we stand: Trans women are women, trans men are men, and non-binary and genderqueer people are cool as fuck. We love you all and welcome you to express yourselves as you feel is right to you and is within your power.   Shoebox Project has always been unapologetically queer. Jaida and Rave, the writers, have both spoken out on social media (along with most of the cast) against JKR's hateful rhetoric. In December, Rave tweeted: anyway, in the shoebox project remus is trans. we never talked about it because it was so obvious, next.    That is straight from the author's mouth, it's canon, folks. As always, you can reach us on twitter @shoeboxpod or by emailing shoeboxpod@gmail.com   Take care of yourselves and take care of each other.

A chat with entrepreneur Jenna Herbut, I fill listeners in on the Frock Box subscription box, and tips for getting kids involved with giving back, including The Shoebox Project.   You can find Jenna Herbut at her site and on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Jenna's excellent new book is Make It Happen: The Creative Entrepreneur's Guide To Transforming Your Dreams Into Reality. The clothing subscription box I talked about is Frock Box. Remember to use code THISMOMLOVES (uppercase) to save the styling fee off your first box! (I get a bonus if you do, so thanks!!) Here are a couple of photos of items I've received in my first two boxes.   Kept the dress - and the tie actually goes to the back!   Kept the top and cardigan and I love them!   Click for all of the information you need about The Shoebox Project. And here is the video of Olivia's speech on how kids can give back.     Thanks to my podcast editor, Lukas Wojcicki!

Incluye opiniones no populares sobre personajes e historias, si usted es muy conservador con sus gustos, puede que tampoco le guste.
