This sets the tone for an episode filled with witty banter and unexpected narratives. **Seattle Car Saga:** Rabbi Dave shares a frustrating yet humorous story about a trip to Seattle to retrieve his cousin's daughter's car. The adventure involves a series of complications with AAA, a faulty timing belt, and a journey involving a ferry. Despite the setbacks, Dave's tale is filled with humor, culminating in a poker game where he humorously bluffed his way through with a pair of nines. **Miss America Controversies:** The hosts then transition into a discussion about the relevance and controversies surrounding beauty pageants. They touch on the inclusivity debates, particularly the participation of transgender contestants, and the public reactions to these changes. This conversation highlights societal shifts and the ongoing debate about traditional versus modern interpretations of beauty and inclusivity. **Pride Month Observations:** Dave and Rod reflect on the subdued nature of Pride Month celebrations this year compared to previous years. They discuss possible reasons for this change, including the impact of past controversies and changing societal attitudes. **Stingray Update:** An amusing segment revisits a past story about a supposedly pregnant stingray at the Smithsonian, only to reveal that it was a medical misdiagnosis. The hosts use this as a springboard for more humorous commentary on unexpected developments. **French Linguist Claim:** In a lighter segment, Friar Rod discusses a French linguist's controversial claim that the English language is merely poorly pronounced French. This leads to a humorous exploration of the linguistic connections between English and French. **Cricket and Cultural Observations:** The episode concludes with an intriguing discussion about cricket, a sport that remains largely incomprehensible to the hosts despite their efforts to understand it. This segment also highlights an unexpected triumph of the US cricket team in a global tournament, adding a note of national pride to the episode's conclusion. #### Conclusion This episode of "What the Frock" exemplifies the show's ability to blend humor with insightful commentary on a wide range of topics. Rabbi Dave and Friar Rod's dynamic chemistry and sharp wit make for an engaging listening experience that leaves the audience both entertained and reflective. Whether discussing personal anecdotes, societal issues, or quirky news stories, they manage to keep the content fresh and captivating. Tune in to this episode for a delightful mix of humor, personal stories, and thought-provoking discussions.

Close your eyes. Imagine waking up tomorrow with no car, no clothes, no money and no family members to call. How does that feel? You and I probably can't come close to knowing-- unless we actually go through it--what it's like, but many women who've just been released from prison know that exact reality. Imagine being a single mother trying to get to work but you don't have money to put gas in your car because you spent the last of your money on asthma medication for your daughter and on rent. While it's sad that this reality exists, it is hopeful to know that people like my guest this week Linda Armstrong Loop are advocating for and helping to empower these women to work toward their own independence and success. Linda is the executive director of Dress for Success Luzerne County that is helping women, not only with clothing for job interviews and living, but the skills they need to secure and keep a job. And through their Project Clean Break, they are helping women in prison with workshops on life and professional skills and necessities for when they're released from prison. Forget the frocks from the back of your closet, Linda recommends new or only gently used clothes from the past year or two, or a monetary donation to help the nonprofit pay expenses and keep doing the work they do. Follow Dress for Success of Luzerne County on Instagram and Facebook for more news and to learn about upcoming fundraising events! This is Part Two of my chat with Sam Baines, my first guest for Season 6 of the podcast, and a woman that I've know for a few years after she was shortlisted at the inaugural International Women's Podcast Awards back in 2021. It's fitting that she's first this season, because she's been the first woman to do a few other things too. Sam is an award-winning comedian, podcaster, author, actor, broadcaster and general legend. In 2014 she won the Funny Women Awards, and subsequently went on to scoop of the 2015 ‘What the Frock' Best Newcomer Award. But that's not all. As an adult, Sam experienced hearing loss, and is now a deaf activist, hearing aid wearer, and an ambassador for the RNID.She's written two children's books, Harriet Versus The Galaxy and The Night The Moon Went Out, and she tells me in this conversation about how she got her first book deal (spoiler alert: she wrote it without an official offer). Her new book, Living With Hearing Loss and Deafness, is available to pre-order now. As well as all this, she's got an award-winning podcast, The Divorce Social, discussing, surprise, surprise, divorce, and her acting credits include The Crown, Call the Midwife, and Magic Mike Live in the West End. There is nothing this woman can't do.We covered SO much ground in this chat, which was recorded aaaages ago live at The Podcast Show - basically I had to give myself a good kick up the arse to get the podcast moving again in 2023, so that's entirely on me. There was so much good stuff that I cut it in two. This is part two. Enjoy.
