For about 2 decades, the Steelers had no concern at QB and WR. For the last 5 years, they have had big concerns at both. Rumors are running rampant at the NFL Combine this week, which is oftentimes a spot for that sort of thing. One of the big rumors is the Steelers looking into Brian Thomas Jr., who saw a decline in his second season after an electric rookie year. What would that price be and can the Steelers afford it? KDKA TV's Bob Pompeani joined the show. Bob doesn't want to leave any stone unturned when it comes to the Steelers and quarterback – saying he would deal a day three pick for Anthony Richardson, but no way it could be better than a 5th round selection. The guys were distracted quickly because Pomp is on an afternoon walk. What were Pomp's worst subjects in school? Pomp is perplexed as to why the Penguins are having issues selling out the arena. He thinks the team not being a true contender in a bit could be a reason even though they are a great story this year. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Chris wanted to ask Mike about the reports of collusion in the NFL in regards to guaranteed contracts. Mike said a lot of it was about the Deshaun Watson contract, in which the Browns gave him $230M guaranteed. Mike explained how just days after the Watson deal was signed, the NFL and the owners wanted to work together on not making the high-level guarantees the norm. Mike dove into some of the other details and how Russell Wilson is involved. Mike drew a comparison between an NFL collusion case and pro wrestling when it comes to fan impact. Mike hopes that people understand this is a pretty big deal – the biggest collusion case in pro sports in about 30 years. Mike said it will only become a bigger deal if the players make it that way. On the heels of the Aaron Rodgers comments yesterday, Mike doesn't think it would be smart to do his weekly Pat McAfee Show hit this year if he isn't interested in attention. Mike said Rodgers knows that his mystique will get people talking about him.

Today, it's the available upgrades for the team at the wide receiver position -- and what's lacking from that group. The Steelers have been linked to San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel over the last few days, and many fans have expressed frustration at the team once again finding an older, less-expensive option instead of landing a true No. 1 wide receiver. The only problem with that frustration is that the Steelers do not have a true No. 1 wide receiver available to them. The Cincinnati Bengals are almost certainly not going to let Tee Higgins come here, and after him, it's a steep drop-off in terms of who is available. Chris Godwin, coming off a major knee surgery, is the only other top free agent set to hit the market, with second-tier options like Amari Cooper, D'Andre Hopkins, Stefon Diggs and Keenan Allen all aging, coming off poor seasons, injuries, or all of the above. The 2025 NFL Draft has no sure things in terms of top wide receivers. Ohio State's Emeka Egbuka appears to be a can't-miss prospect, but has a lower ceiling than most players considered in the first round. The rest appear to be dart throws of varying levels of risk or smaller receivers that duplicate what the Steelers already have in Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III. In this Wednesday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the ever-dwindling list of free agent wide receivers now available on the heels of recent signings around the NFL. We then look at the state of the wide receiver depth chart that the Pittsburgh Steelers currently have and debate if that group is still one significant player short. Are the Steelers still attempting to maybe trade for a wide receiver? If they are, who would their trade targets be and why? We get into that discussion in the middle of this show.
