Hello New Paradigmers! As I let activity come to its natural end, Sit still and feel the breeze, I experience the joy that naturally springs forth, In a life lived with grace and ease.☉Happy Summer Solstice (in the northern hemisphere)!  It's a big turning point, the height, weight, and power of the light, masculine energy has reached its peak.  Will we voluntarily give up our striving, achieving, conquering, and competing for individual excellence and, in a way, succumb to the unifying principle of the feminine inviting us into community as days now begin shorten?  Will we surrender to the collective will, society and its norms or do we want to fight it, go our own way, though it may lead to isolation, irrelevancy, or expulsion? With Venus having entered Leo, Jupiter close behind, and the Moon coming along today, it's time to get the party started!  The mantra this week lays out the pure simple joy that we can experience at this beautiful time of year.  I'd say the only "fly in the ointment," is the Pluto opposition to Venus now coming to a close.  You see, Pluto up there in Aquarius symbolizes very powerful social norms, expectations, laws,, rules, judgements, and consequences levied against those who "stand out."  You may receive some backlash, not just from society or the law but friends, acquaintances, and loved ones when you express your personal opinions, tastes, and desires. In some ways, the Sun transitioning from Gemini to Cancer is like moving from our head to our heart.  As we feel and acknowledge our personal needs, tastes, and feelings we can go one of two ways.  The "lower" expression of Cancer is the hard shelled crab that withdraws, goes inward, and contracts, seeks safety, and goes down into its little hole in the sand.  The "higher" expression of Cancer is the mothering force that cares for and nourishes the hopes, fears, and needs of the family, others, and protects nature and the world at large.  A key word these days is our great need for both TOLERANCE and UNITY IN DIVERSITY.  In order to get there some big old walls and ways need to be broken down, and that's done most beautifully by being an example, a light, and an inspiration to others through our own joy, ease, grace, and care.  Let's all join together with our family and friends to make the most out of this changing of the seasons.  Make a circle, go to the river, sit around a fire, and feel the joy of connection.  It's time to relax, enjoy, give thanks, and love our lives!Which song for this week is your favorite?Yellow Submarine? https://youtu.be/m2uTFF_3MaA?si=dV14Ujt8qBeHH4V6or"Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me?"  https://youtu.be/ECN_wgw55lc?si=P7scEzXNiX4tvDUjSo Much Love,Kaypacha

Switched on Pop
How Charlie Puth honored Whitney Houston for 125 million people (live at Berklee NYC)

Charlie Puth joins Switched On Pop in Studio A at Power Station at Berklee NYC, live before a room of current students, ten days after performing the national anthem at Super Bowl 60 and weeks before releasing his fourth album, Whatever's Clever. The conversation is grounded in one question: how do you absorb the music you love and turn it into something that actually sounds like you? Puth traces his national anthem arrangement through a lineage running from Jose Feliciano's 1968 World Series performance to Marvin Gaye's 808-driven 1983 All-Star Game version to Whitney Houston's 1991 Super Bowl rendition. The through-line: citation is letting your influences dissolve into your hands until they become unrecognizable. That principle runs throughout the new record, from the Quincy Jones guitar tone on "Cry" to the Chick Corea quotation buried in "Boy" that Puth didn't realize was there until after writing it. Nik Kershaw exploded onto the UK pop scene in 1984 as a solo artist. A string of global hit singles – including ‘Wouldn't it Be Good', ‘The Riddle' and his biggest hit, ‘I Won't Let the Sun Go Down on Me' – helped to propel him to 62 weeks on the UK Singles Chart through 1984 and 1985 – beating every other solo artist, together with performing at Live Aid. After stepping out of the limelight to concentrate on writing and producing, Nik wrote Chesney Hawkes's ‘The One and Only' and has collaborated with Elton John (including writing and producing one of the songs on the Duets album), Sia, Gary Barlow and Bonnie Tyler, whilst continuing to release his own well-reviewed studio albums, featuring his distinctive voice and highly personal lyrics. He also regularly plays festivals and performs live to his loyal and fervent fanbase.

Family Theater was a dramatic anthology radio show which aired on the Mutual Broadcasting System in the United States from February 13, 1947, to September 11, 1957. The show was produced by Family Theater Productions, a film and radio studio extension of the Family Rosary Crusade founded by the Holy Cross Priest, Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, to promote family prayer. The motto of these Holy Cross Family Ministries is, "The family that prays together, stays together." The program had no commercial sponsor, yet Father Peyton, CSC arranged for many of Hollywood's stars in film and radio at the time to appear. In its ten-year run, well-known actors, and actresses, including James Stewart, Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Raymond Burr, Jane Wyatt, Charlton Heston, Bing Crosby, Jack Benny, Gene Kelly, William Shatner, and Chuck Connors, appeared as announcers, narrators, or stars. A total of 540 episodes were produced. The program featured not only religious stories but half-hour adaptations of literary works such as A Tale of Two Cities, Moby-Dick and Don Quixote Listen to our radio station Old Time Radio https://link.radioking.com/otradio Listen to other Shows at My Classic Radio https://www.myclassicradio.net/ Podcast Service I Recommend https://redcircleinc.grsm.io/entertainmentradio7148 Remember that times have changed, and some shows might not reflect the standards of today's politically correct society. By Paul Moody in Clearwater Valley, ID, Kennewick, WA, Kettle Falls, WA, Spokane, WA - December 10, 2022 - While being angry is not a sin, all too often our reactions to anger are sinful or lead to sin. God and Christ set an example of what godly anger looks like - they are angry when there is evil and injustice, and their anger is "for a moment" - they don't allow it to fester. Allowing anger to reside in our minds leads to bitterness and other negative, ungodly results.

Mark, Bryson and Jacob discuss their feelings about the lack of movement and if it's a real problem for the Blue Jays. How has the signing of Brandon Nimmo and Cody Bellinger changed the oufielder market? Should the Blue Jays move a catcher for Bryan Reynolds? 1992 - January: Nirvana “Nevermind”

The album that would bring grunge into the mainstream is Nevermind by Nirvana.  While it was Nirvana's second album, it would be their first on a major label.  It would also see the introduction of Dave Grohl to the band as drummer joining Krist Novoselic on bass, and the iconic and troubled Kurt Cobain who was front man, guitarist, and songwriter for the band.“Troubled” could be a good description of the album as well.  While more polished than their debut album, the songs exhibit a raw emotion, often dark, disturbed, or alienated, but also containing some humor and self-deprecation.  The tracks were more melodic than the first album as well, reflecting Cobain's influences - he was listening to groups like the Pixies and R.E.M. at the time that Nevermind was being recorded.  The album was a surprising success both commercially and critically.  It was nominated for three Grammy awards across two awards ceremonies.  It hit number 1 on the Billboard 200 list in the U.S., hit number 2 on the Australian charts, and number 7 on the British charts.Nevermind was released in September 1991, and friend of the show John Lynch is featuring it as our album pick for January 1992 when it was on top of the charts, knocking off Michael Jackson's Dangerous.  LithiumLithium is a drug used to fight depression and bi-polar disorder.  The lyrics discuss a person trying to fight loss of relationships, wide mood swings and feelings, deciding that he needs to find God before he kills himself.  The alteration between soft and loud sections would become known as emblematic of Nirvana's sound.   PollyThis dark song was inspired by the abduction, torture, and rape of a 14 year-old girl in Tacoma, Washington.   She escaped from her kidnapper at a gas station.  Cobain wrote the lyrics from the perspective of the perpetrator.  Former percussionist Chad Channing is the drummer on this piece.Something in the WayThis song was inspired by a four-month period of homelessness that Cobain experienced around his hometown of Aberdeen, Washington.  It is one of the few autobiographical songs Cobain wrote, as he more typically wrote lyrics inspired in stores from others.  It is featured in the 2022 film, “The Batman.” Come As You AreThis hit single almost resulted in a lawsuit from a band called “The Killing Joke” which had a very similar chord structure.  The lyrics are about the expectations people put on themselves and others, and it encourages people to be themselves.   ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Theme from the television comedy series “In Living Color”This comedy variety production from the Wayan brothers would introduce the world to sketches “Men on Film, “Homey the Clown,” and “Fire Marshal Bill” which launched Jim Carrey's career. STAFF PICKS:There's No Other Way by BlurWayne starts us off with London based Blur exhibiting the “Manchester” sound.  The song lyrics highlight the irritation the band felt at having to follow the Manchester trend at the behest of the record company.  “You've taken the fun out of everything.”   This song was Kurt Cobain's favorite song of the year from Britain.Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me by George Michael and Elton JohnRob brings us George Michael's live cover of Elton John's 1974 hit.  John joins Michael on stage in the second half of the song during this performance in Chicago.  They had originally performed the duet for Live Aid, and Michael liked it so much that he incorporated the cover into his show.  The original version made it to number 2 in the U.S., and this cover made it to number 1.Diamonds and Pearls by Prince and the New Power GenerationBrian's staff pick is a love song.  It is also the title track to Prince's album with the backing band which was originally named on the 1990 film “Graffiti Bridge.”  The female voice in this song is performed by Rosie Gaines, who tragically suffered from an insulin overdose in 2009, and has experienced a number of diabetic issues over time.No Son of Mine by GenesisJohn Lynch features the final Genesis album with Phil Collins as lead singer, "We Can't Dance."  The lyrics discuss domestic violence.  It is about a man who is a monster to his family.  The song describes a child who runs away from an abusive family situation, and is rejected by his father when he attempts reconciliation later on. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:New Recruit by Eric ClaptonThis instrumental track is from the motion picture "Rush."
