The Housewife of the Year competition ran for almost three decades, from 1969 to 1995. Thousands of women from all around Ireland entered, hoping to win a cash prize along with some home appliances, such as a luxury gas cooker. In later years, the competition was broadcast on RTÉ, featuring footage of contestants taking part in domestic duties at home, followed by a glitzy finale where the finalists were interviewed by Gay Byrne. Last month, the Housewife of the Year documentary was released in Irish cinemas. In the film, former contestants share their (mostly positive) experiences of taking part in the contest and speak about what Irish society was like for women during that time. In this episode, Róisín Ingle is joined by two former winners, Ena Howell (1992) and Margaret Carmody (1978). The pair share their own personal stories and reflect on what it was like to take part and eventually win. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This episode's subject was the result of a random generation of a year in the 90s to pick games from. Now, full disclosure, we were initially rolled 1992 but realised how many games from that year we'd already inducted, so we did another one and got 1996! 1996, as it turns out, was a year that some incredible things happened, and some iconic franchises were born. You can be sure we nominated a lot of those for the Hall of Fame. There's also a really thought-provoking question from Steve, two decent emails, and one from Shagger that ruined everything. Emails will never be the same again. Go vote for the game you want in the HOF over @VG_HOF, tell your mates to do the same, rate/review on your pod platform of choice, and tune in next time for Game of the Year Winners!

Shaun and Thala review week 2 of the Six Nations. We start at the controversial no try call at the end of Scotland v France and debate whether the officials got it right. We also discuss why all the Scotland losses against the better teams all feel the same and whether France played a lot better than most give them credit. Moving onto England v Wales, we look at the positives for the young Wales team for as they fought to a narrow loss in Twickenham and we discuss what are the other ingredients England need to play the pressure game Steve Borthwick and Felix Jones are trying to implement. Then we move to the Aviva and rave about another impressive Jack Crowley performance, how Ireland's rotated players stepped up in this game and we remain patient with Italy. Our First Phase question asked us to predict the World Rugby Player of the Year winners for the next 4 years and we discussed whether Antoine Dupont can still win it in 2024 even if he just plays Sevens.
