We're switching/SWISHing it up this week, with our mini-sode today and our main episode out on Thursday, because there is just so much rolling news right now. Today, Sami and V are joined by Kara Swisher, tech journalist, Pivot co-host, co-founder of Recode, and New York Times bestselling author of Burn Book. Her memoir chronicles her decades-long career covering the rise of Silicon Valley, what they're like up close, how they've helped and how they harmed us.Topics: Congress is finally starting to move into action to regulate big tech companies, but will it be effective? A look into why these companies have become too rich and too powerful to regulate properly. Earlier regulation for apps like TikTok could help prevent total bans. Kara emphasizes that despite its popularity, TikTok must adhere to American regulations and values the same as any other broadcast network. The consequence of dominance in the industry by a few huge companies has led to the demise of traditional news outlets and the spread of misinformation. Man, we're constantly moving about, rolling form one task to another, bouncing from one achievement to the next. Swishing between this task to that one. Non-stop. There's always something we gotta do. Something that must be done. I gotta do this at work then I gotta go home and do that, but before I get home I gotta make sure I pick up that one specific thing and run it to so and so. I also gotta make sure I pick up that thing I need from the store. Oh and while I'm there I gotta fill up on gas. Which reminds me! I'm due for an oil change. Speaking of which, we're out of cooking oil too. Oh I gotta prep meals for the week. Shit, wait, should I pick up bread too? Oh no I gotta run to the bank first and deposit my check. I forgot to do that. Oh and speaking of paycheck, II also have to call my boss tonight and prepare for the meeting tomorrow morning. Boom, boom, boom! Quick pace. Go, go, go! Speed is the main stress inducer in life. Moving fast is what causes us to feel so overworked and so overwhelemed. Man, ya gotta take it easy. I mean that. Yeah, the holidays is over, but that doesn't mean you stop resting, In fact, your performance is best when you are at rest, contrary to popular belief. Being tired and running on coffee to keep you functioning is okay in society, but stopping to take a break, actually giving yourself the time you need to rejuvenate? Well you better re-think yourself you lazy son of a bitch! Get off your ass! We need to slow down. Stop once in a while, when we need to. We're gonna reach burn out if we're constantly pushing ourselves to make more, do more, be more. Do less. Live more. Do less with more focus. Do less. And be sure to rest. Take time to listen to this episode and take it easy, man. Not only that, there is an increasing number of brands and organizations actively working towards change. Today we're back with another installment of our series on the impact of fashion. Joining us is Lucy Shea, CEO of the change agency, Futerra, to talk about sustainability in the fashion industry and why the fashion industry matters. Lucy is an expert in the business of climate action and sustainable lifestyles and has advised clients such as Tommy Hilfiger, Unilever, Sky, and the World Wildlife Foundation. She radically reimagined garment recycling over a decade ago by creating the global clothes swapping movement, Swishing. In our conversation with Lucy, She shares her thoughts on what she believes to be the most effective and respectful route towards change, and why she considers a living wage to be an absolute necessity for the future of our planet. -- --

I have a variety of plant materials to play with today to create a variety of sound experiences. I mostly keep things slow and soft (a few crunches here and there in the beginning) for those of you who like to use these for getting to sleep like I do. There are some dried stems that I run across a plate for very light tapping sounds, some crunchy leaves that I slowly roll around, some seed heads that make a nice rattling sound as well as a good rustle, a hollow stem, and some stalks of grain and grasses. The last ten minutes are extra slow and quiet to help you drift right off. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tessa-tingles/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tessa-tingles/support

If I sit here, very still, so as not to scare the water birds, might they come back? I hope so. They've wheeled away again, like they do. It's their drifting altitudinous song that I most want to hear. Sparse clouds are hurrying by. When the sun is out, it's surprisingly strong. It makes the air smell of warm grass. A sea breeze is blowing. Swishing in, from left to right through the tall stems. This spot is only a few hundred yards from the crashing waves of the sea, but a steep shingle ridge softens the sound into almost nothing. It's quiet. Birds are all around, mostly in the mid-distance. A wader that's been sploshing along the shallow edge searching for food has come closer. It seems unperturbed. Does it know I'm here? As I wonder I start to hear them. It is them. They're coming. The skylarks are wheeling back, beginning to unfurl their cornfield-yellow string of audible bunting across the sky above me once again. I drink their sound in. The simple timeless beauty of them. My body eases into a state of complete rest. From somewhere behind, on a track that bisects the nature reserve a car bumps slowly by. A minute later a heavy truck follows. Clanking metalwork over deep ruts. It sounds like it's out of a film set in the Australian Outback. It stops, turns around, then clanks back off into the distance, the way it came. As it goes it draws a long and dusty spatial line across the sound landscape, reminding me this is a vast land, on the edge. The skylarks continue to wheel. Two geese fly by. A migrating swallow makes landfall. ------- Follow us on Twitter to see more pictures from this special place.

Guys, for the love of Pete...floss your teeth. Not only is your oral health tied to your heart health let's face it...bad breath is a buzzkill. If you don't floss - please start. And this is gross...but smell the floss after you use it. If it's stinky, well that's the way your breath smells. I floss on the daily. Swishing for a full minute with water after. I'm not above using a non-flouride wash like Listerine if I see a little gum bleeding or notice the floss stink. Im a fan of the Oral-B Glide floss...it's thicker than that usual dental floss which means it covers more surface area. Maybe you'll try it? Get it on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/2D6qPOU Oral health, it's important.

Last weekend, we took the Swish Mobile Studio to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania for CAMP 2011 and we've brought you all the gays-in-the-woods craziness on this very special on-location episode. After the boys share some juicy tales from the scene (there's a list below) we chat with Camp 2011 organizer JAMES TATE. He runs down all the weekend events and offers up a bit of behind the scenes 411, too. His segment kicks in at the 23:35 mark. Next up, DJ ESCAPE stopped by to chat with Scott, Dale & Steve while our own DJ Jason Royce was busy warming up the campers over at the party tent. Escape--who is straight--is one of the top deejays and remixers in the world and a favorite at gay clubs from New York to Ibiza. He chats about his personal style, his favorite artists on the scene now and tells us how he got started spinning in the first place. Hear Escape at the 31:45 mark. Immediately after that, the crew welcomed Cole & Hunter from MAVERICK MEN fame to our RV parked just a few steps from all the fun. Cole & Hunter were recently voted the #1 couple on XTube.com and they've had over 90,000,000 views! Their homemade brand of erotic gay videos are some of the hottest the Swishers have found online and the guys bowed down in their presence. Cole & Hunter couldn't have been more friendly and candid as Scott & Steve chatted with them over beers about how they find their guest stars, about their book, and so much more. The Maverick Men start at the 44:20 mark. Also on this Camp 2011 episode... We'll tell you what happens when seven fags and a black woman show up for lunch with the after-church crowd of local Pennsylvania mountains townspeople; Mud: Our shoes and flip-flops will never be the same; Twinks running wild? Yes...oh yes; We got a kick out of watching naked twinks slip and slide and end up in a giant puddle of mud; Naked and cockringed "perms" just go about their business...and keep cute, funky compounds; Scott & Steve go on a late-night date; We saw some hot and heavy sex lakeside in the broad daylight; Shenanigans in CODE's Playhouse barn; Scott embarrasses himself--and upsets the locals--when he mistakes a "come here" gesture from a major porn star as a wave hello; and, Rubber Buckets! Episode 148 is called, "Tales from Gay Camp aka All Dicked Out." Simple as that, people.
