Livet är fullt av uppoffringar att jobba för att försörja familjen istället för att vara med familjen, eller att ta hand om barnen och sedan stå där med noll kronor i pensionskassan. Vad det än är kokar det ner till ett val man gjort en gång i tiden. Vi frågar oss: Var det värt det? Prästen Ted Harris menar att uppoffringar i vissa sammanhang är nödvändiga, men att det inte behöver betyda att man inte ångrar dem senare. Jag växte upp i ett traditionellt, frikyrkligt, bokstavstroget, kristet hem. Jag upptäckte att den världen var inte en värld där jag ville vara kvar, det var för begränsande. Men för att komma vidare var jag tvungen att lämna det sammanhanget, komma bort från min familj, min mamma mina syskon och ge mig själv rymd att bli Ted. Det var en uppoffring, säger han. Martin Bengtsson är fotbollsproffset som la av. Att bli fotbollsspelare var något han valde redan som 8-åring. Men det var ett val som innebar att han även valde bort barndomen. Redan som 17-åring skrev Martin på kontrakt för den italienska proffsklubben Inter. Till en början var det väldigt roligt, men sedan börjar det gå utför. Tillslut blir det så illa att han kommer att ta ett drastiskt beslut. Den här berättelsen har två nivåer för det ena handlar om hur miljön ser ut i den här klubben och hur spelare behandlas, men den andra delen handlar ju ganska mycket om att i samma veva hände något existentiellt i att befinna sig i den här drömmen och successivt inse att man var en tonåring som var sökande, berättar han. Dr. Swanson is known as the founder of "Swanson's Analysis Systems" in 1970; the company that would later be known to the public as Ansys Inc. He also wrote the original Ansys program in his home, and since leaving the company has gone on the work in philanthropy and alternative energy. A John Fritz Medal winner, and member of the National Academy of Engineering, John is considered an authority and pioneer in the application of Finite Element methods to engineering. We are incredibly thankful that John was able to join us for this interview, and we hope you enjoy learning a little bit about the history of Ansys from the founder himself. In episode number 22 we look back on the teams and players who were the Rangers fans most hated rivals during the '60s,70's and 80's * During the '60s the Montreal Canadians tormented Rangers fans with rough and tough players like John Ferguson, Terry Harper, and Ted Harris. * How about the Physical Battles with the Boston Bruins during the '60s and '70s with players like John MacKenzie, Teddy Green, Bobby Orr, Wayne Cashman, Phil Esposito, Derick Sanderson, and Don Marcotte. * Can we ever forget the rath and fury directed at the most penalized and aggressive team in NHL History during the '70s and '80s..the Philadelphia Flyers with Bobby Clarke, Dave The "Hammer" Shultz, Moose Dupont, Hound Dog Kelly, and Don Saleski. Later in the '80s, it would be Behn Wilson, Glen Cochrane, Paul Holmgren, Mel Bridgeman, Dave Hoyda, Kenny Linseman, Brian Propp and Rich and Ron Sutter * The New York Islanders of the mid 70's who shocked the Rangers during the 1975 playoffs and then winning four consecutive Stanley Cups with tough, gritty and elite players like Gary Howatt, Bob Nystrom, Billy Smith, Dennis Potvin, Mike Bossy and Bryan Trottier. Later in the '80s, it would be the Sutter brothers Duane and Brent along with Pat La Fontaine, Pat Flatley, and Mick Vukota. * John Ferguson would later become GM of the Rangers * Moose Dupont drafted by the Rangers would go on and torment his former club for years while winning two Stanley Cups with the Flyers * Phil Esposito would later be traded to The Rangers and while also Coaching, announcing and leading the organization as GM * Derick Sanderson would also go on to play briefly for the rangers * Wayne Cashman would go on to be an assistant coach for the Rangers * Bryan Trottier would go on to coach the Rangers for a short stint * Pat La Fontaine would go on and play for the Rangers * Dennis Potvin chants are still heard today at MSG ** Let us know who you believe were the Rangers fans most hated, teams and players.
