How do you feel about snakes? Not a fan? Well, while we believe snakes are friends, not foes, we recognize it may be comforting to know that the vast majority of snakes in Florida are non-venomous and largely cannot hurt you or your family. On today's episode, we go on a deep dive about Florida's venomous snakes. Learn more: Read about identifying the water moccasin and the banded water snake (non-venomous) OR watch this video Need a refresher on 3 common snakes in residential areas? Listen here: Three Common Snakes in Residential Areas (Podcast Episode) Dealing With Snakes - Emergency Planning Preventing Negative Encounters with Snakes Florida Snakes (Youtube Video) Calls to action: Spread the word! Snakes are friends, not foes. They provide a critical link in our food web and are both predator and prey. MOST snakes you see are non-venomous. Avoid Snake-bite Kits: The only snake-bite kit you need is your cell phone! If you are bitten by a venomous snake OR a snake you can't identify, call 911. Put your chaps on, as this week noted herpetologist Jimmy Stiles busts into the Gamekeeper studio with five venomous snakes that any of us could encounter. It's an amazing podcast of information and education. Jimmy knows snakes, and his explanations help us understand these reptiles a bit better. It's a fascinating look into something that strikes fear into most people. We learned Jimmy was a big turkey hunter and watches for snakes just like we do. As a professional herpetologist, he demonstrated safety and preached respect while answering the many questions we fired at him. Listen, Learn and Enjoy. Snakes are one of the most feared and misunderstood animals around. But snakes, venomous or not, generally just want humans to leave them alone. Over half of all bites from venomous snakes in the United States are completely avoidable. Snakes occupy a very important place in the ecosystem. In this episode I'll tell you why snakes - even the ones with medically significant venom - are not nearly as dangerous and scary as most people think - and why they are worthy of your respect.

What's the weirdest correlation you've heard all day?Today's episode ditches the themes and returns to a random grab bag. First, Michael regales us with strange data sets that seem to correlate, despite a total lack of logical links. Then Ian takes over, telling us first about a small town's bullying problem, and then tells us one of his favorite hilarious stories about the single most incompetent naval deployment of all time.As usual, let's get weird.#JoinTheTalk: https://linktr.ee/Culttalknet
