Though men may argue and deny, the facts concerning the death of Jesus are laid out in the New Testament, and many of the facts are confirmed by non-Biblical writers into the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th centuries. We recognize that Jesus was put to death by agents of the Roman Empire, at the insistence of … Continue reading Who Killed Jesus? (1/28/24 Bible Class)
There has never been, in the history of the world, a more unjustifiable killing than that of Jesus Christ. It was so shocking, in fact, that historians have been speculating about how it happened and who was responsible for the last 2,000 years. But to John, the writer of the fourth Gospel, it was no mystery. The post Who Killed Jesus? first appeared on White Pine Community Church.
Who Killed Jesus? Obviously, the Romans ultimately crucified Jesus, but who were the few within Jerusalem that helped make the choice that Jesus, not Barabbas, should be the one crucified? It seems in the New Testament Gospels that Jesus had it out for the Pharisees and vice versa. However, Trevan Hatch, a Biblical Studies and Jewish Studies Scholar at Brigham Young University, says otherwise. We also cover the power dynamics of the major Jewish sects at the time of Jesus; the Sadducees, Pharisees, and Essenes, as well as Jesus' interactions with the former two groups. This Sunday is the finale of our sermon series on “Who Killed Jesus?” In this series, we've been trying determine who bears ultimate responsibility for Jesus' death, This week we'll examine the final suspect – a surprise witness who, it turns out, is ultimately responsible for Jesus' death. Can you guess who that surprise witness will be? Join us on Sunday as we finally solve the mystery.
This Sunday we continue our sermon series on “Who Killed Jesus?” Our goal is to determine who bears ultimate responsibility for Jesus' death, As we examine the various suspects, we've been thinking deeply and learning a lot. Although it sounds counterintuitive, this Sunday we're going to explore Jesus' role in his own death by asking: Did Jesus believe his death was inevitable and necessary? Did he somehow cooperate in his own death? If so, why? And why should I care?
This Sunday Pastor Jeff resumes our sermon series on “Who Killed Jesus?” The goal in this series is to determine who bears ultimate responsibility for Jesus' death. So far we've considered three rather obvious suspects: Pontius Pilate, Judas Iscariot, and Jerusalem's institutional religious leaders. Now our investigation takes an unexpected turn with a fourth suspect who will startle you -- and challenge us to think much more deeply about the meaning of Jesus' death.

In the Olympics athletes' battle for gold. Others settle for silver or bronze. Most athletes go home empty handed. But, win or lose they all make monumental sacrifices. John Carter, who has proclaimed God's Gospel around the world to millions, tells us how WE can all take hold of the gold. The most stunning sacrifice of all time is explored in today's program: “WHO KILLED JESUS?
When the Pope viewed Mel Gibson’s movie, The Passion of Jesus Christ, he is said to have remarked, It is as it was. The Vatican later tried to spin that remark to bring it back in bounds, but I have little doubt the Pope said exactly that—because that is the avowed object of the movie, to tell the story of the suffering of Jesus as it was. But that seems to be a real problem. And if the Pope is right, then it is not Mel Gibson’s movie that is the problem; it is the Bible. Few things I have read bring this into focus like an article in the February 15th Newsweek by Jon Meacham. In his article titled, Who Killed Jesus? he asks: Does the death, the execution of Jesus lie at the feet of the Jewish people? No. It does not. But making that simple denial does not tell the whole story.
Who Killed Jesus? #10 Why was Yeshua AKA Jesus executed? For claiming to be the Messiah? For claiming to be God? Who was responsible? And why should we care? Is this a Jewish issue? Actually, it is, because the charge “Christ-killers” was repeated across Christian Europe for the next two millennia, even to the present day. Dr. Kenneth Hanson http://drkenhanson.com/

Who Killed Jesus?
Who killed Jesus? The answer to this question contains many layers. This sermon will seek to peel back each layer and uncover the core reason why Jesus died.
Pastor Mike summarizes last weeks Palm Sunday message of Two Kingdoms - One King preparing for the Easter message today. Our text for today is Isaiah 53 as given 700 years prior of the crucifixion to the prophet Isaiah. It's hard for mankind to appreciate what happened in the Spiritual World that day other than to say that God was pleased. It was His plan and it came together perfectly to "crush" the power of death and evil for all time. We discuss three questions today: 1. Who Killed Jesus? 2. Did Jesus have a choice? 3. What's your choice today? Listen in as we discuss Easter in maybe a new way and new light... HE LIVES to make intercession for you and I today!

Why did Jesus die? Why was he tortured? Why was he crucified? Why was he murdered? To answer these questions, you must first answer this question: Who Killed Jesus? This much must be made clear: God did not kill Jesus! To suggest God tortured and murdered his Son is to malign the character of God. God sent his Son into a world founded on a sinful and satanic system of blame and violence to bear witness to divine love and to save us from death and the ways of death. Jesus sacrificially laid down his life, but it was not a suicide. At the cross, human religion and politics committed homicide. The sacrificial killing of Jesus is not what God required; it's what we required.
Upon hearing the truth of the gospel explained to them, those present in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost were cut straight to the heart. They cried out, "What then shall we do?" When you are truly hit with the power of the gospel, it should initially elicit a response that says, "Oh no! What can I do to be saved?!" Then the hope of the truth of what Jesus has done to save us can be fully preached, and true conviction, repentance, and salvation will be received.
This week we begin with a documentary called "Who Killed Jesus," for Easter. It's quite well done and may leave you with some questions. aAfter that we revissit that little island off the coast of Portsmouth only to find the lads are off to sea. Finally in honor of our dear friend Mr. Bales we present James Bond in "Dr. No." Enjoy and happy Easter.
