The KwaZulu Natal Political Killings Task Team has taken over the investigation into the fatal shooting of an ANC councillor in Durban. Sibusiso Khwela, who represented Ward 17 in eThekwini, was killed in Klaarwater yesterday. The Acting National Commissioner, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane says specialist detectives are already on the ground. Authorities say their priority is to identify and arrest those responsible. We spoke to Thabani Nyawose, Speaker of the eThekwini Municipality Council and ANC Regional Convenor.

Three people are dead after a shooting in Cote des Neiges yesterday, including a 34-year old police officer and a civilian. The gunman, whose identity has not been released, has been killed as well, according to police. In the immediate aftermath, rumours were FLYING online, a lot of them unsubstantiated. Brian Kangas, 34, of Battle Ground was arrested for the alleged murder of 73-year-old Gary Bender after deputies responded to reports of gunshots on NE Davis Road. Witnesses saw Kangas leave the scene on bicycle before deputies located him with a handgun near NE 182nd Avenue.
