This week Liz & Vince tackle the art of saying ‘no’. As highly ambitious and driven individuals, it can be tempting to say yes to every opportunity that presents itself. The downside to saying yes, especially when we really mean no, is that we end up stretching ourselves too thin causing long term resentment and burnout. While it can seem selfish to say no, being choosy with where you invest your limited time and energy is the secret to being available for bigger and better opportunities. In fact, what is selfish is when we know we want to say no but instead opt to repeatedly push things out, even though we have no real intention of ever following through. Gary Vaynerchuk himself identifies his own difficulties in saying no as The Yes Virus, which “is when you want to say yes to everything, when you feel like you can do everything, and most of all you don’t want to let people down, or you just want to check off a lot of boxes or accomplish a lot of things. Maybe you just wanna call it “big eyes”; you feel like you can consume all the chocolate cake.” Liz & Vince know The Yes Virus well, but both are learning the importance of saying no and the amazing impact it can have on productivity and mental wellbeing. In today’s episode you will learn: The pitfalls of over-extending yourselfThe impact that goal-setting has on time, energy managementHow to determine when to say NO…...and when to say YES!
