A couple of nerdy brothers discuss the latest episodes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows.
The Marvelvision podcast, hosted by the Faraci brothers, is a truly insightful and engaging deep dive into the MCU's foray into weekly television. With their extensive knowledge of all things Marvel, these brothers provide a phenomenal analysis of each episode of WandaVision and other Marvel shows. As someone who has always admired Devin's writing, I was thrilled to discover that his expertise translates seamlessly into the world of podcasting. The chemistry between the brothers is palpable, making each episode feel like you're eavesdropping on a fascinating conversation between two passionate fans.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the brothers' deep knowledge and understanding of the Marvel canon. Their ability to connect various elements from the comics and previous films to what is happening in WandaVision is truly impressive. They provide valuable insights and interpretations that enhance the viewing experience and make you appreciate the show even more. Additionally, their banter and camaraderie create an enjoyable atmosphere that keeps you hooked throughout each episode.
However, it should be noted that one downside of this podcast is its tendency to take a while to get to the meat of the discussion. Like many podcasts, there is often an introductory segment before diving into the main content. While it can be interesting to hear some personal anecdotes or updates from the hosts' lives, it can sometimes feel like unnecessary filler before getting to the analysis of WandaVision. This could potentially deter listeners who are looking for a more direct approach.
In conclusion, The Marvelvision podcast offers an exceptional deep dive into WandaVision and other Marvel shows with its knowledgeable hosts and engaging discussions. Despite occasional delays in getting to the main content, this podcast provides valuable insights that enhance one's appreciation for these shows. Whether you're a die-hard Marvel fan or simply enjoy thought-provoking analysis of popular television series, The Marvelvision podcast comes highly recommended.
Breaking news: trailers for Superman and Ironheart have been released. We talk about 'em. What else do you need to know?
We got a few weeks before Ironheart starts up so we're dipping over to the DC Universe to check out Justice League Unlimited. We'll be covering "The Cadmus Saga," starting with this episode where Batman harasses Amanda Waller. Also: why is Ice just hanging out when a volcano is erupting? Is that guy Dirk the Daring from Dragon's Lair (and do I call it Dragon Quest on the show?)? Derek gets deep on lore and we wonder why Doomsday can't break out of some hardened magma. We will return next week with the next chapter: "Task Force X"!
With the next MCU movie about to hit theaters we thought it would be a good time to read the first appearance of the team that is coming to the screen, The Thunderbolts. Or rather the team that is not coming to the screen, since the original T-Bolts have just about nothing to do with the characters in Thunderbolts*. That's okay, because the buzz on that movie is good, and we'll always have the OG group. They made their first appearance smack dab in the middle of a Hulk storyline, and knowing the big reveal of Thunderbolts #1 - this team is not a bunch of superheroes but rather the Masters of Evil in disguise and running a long con - it's shocking how obvious the truth is when looking back at this comic. These guys seem like obvious villains! But everybody was fooled. Before that we have some news, and you get a chance to hear me get the name of every comic creator I talk about wrong. Like, totally wrong, I keep wanting to credit Mark Waid with everything ever written. It's a mess, and thankfully Derek knows his stuff and can correct me. There will be no Marvelvision next week! We're taking the week off because we will have two episodes of The Bad Batch and a new Marvelvision that week, and we just don't have the energy or time to do four shows. What will we do when we come back? We're going to be watching the Cadmus Arc from Justice League Unlimited. Where do we start? I'll let Derek figure that out - I'll send out a little post about it in the days ahead. Thanks for listening! See you next time.
The first season of Born Again comes to a close - does the finale work? Considering we are Netflix Daredevil haters turned Disney+ Daredevil lovers will we be satisfied with how things are wrapped up? And did Jon Bernthal come back to the show only after a change was made that kinda ruins the Punisher? All of this and more is discussed on the show. Before that we talk yet again about the unsmiling Superman, we discuss an eternally underrated X book and we reminisce about getting mugged in New York City back in the day. Next week: We'll be reading the first appearance of the Thunderbolts in Incredible Hulk Vol 2 #449. And coming soon: our Watch Men episode about the next MCU film, Thunderbolts*!
Matt's kind of a jerk this week, but he also does a big heroism so maybe the scales balance. Should he tell Heather his secret? Could you really kill a dude by spitting a tooth at his eye? This week's episode goes all Creepshow in a very fun way. Before that: some movie talk, the experience of seeing the Fantastic Four trailer and the Superman extended scene back to back on the big screen and audience questions I can barely answer. Next week: the season finale!
The Muse storyline comes to a big end this week in an episode that feels like it's got a couple of weird logic gaps. Still, we're really enjoying this show, a total shocker to us. Of course the last few weeks have all been using the OG version of the season, before major reshoots - next week begins the two episodes that are completely new. Will it still be for us? Before that: why release an extended sequence where Superman is all beat up the whole time? Is A Minecraft Movie saving cinema as we know it? And will Robert Downey Jr's Doctor Doom get-up look as crummy as the image on his birthday party invitation? Thanks for listening! See you next week.
This week we have a bottle episode where Matt gets tangled up in a bank robbery hostage situation and we get the episode where Daredevil finally returns. Was it worth the wait? Will we ever see Matt having dinner with the Khans? And does Muse have powers or what? Before that: gym influencer Joey Swoll! Will Doomsday end with a white screen, a la Crisis on Infinite Earths? Will Spider-Man ever grow up? And who is the villain anyway? The Kelce Brothers of movie podcasting answer all these and more! Thanks for listening.
We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for this news bulletin: Today Marvel held a very strange (and very successful) event to announce the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which is shooting right now. There are a bunch of names you might expect and there are a few left field characters showing up, but maybe the most intriguing aspect is who is not going to be in this movie. We discuss it all!Plus, we kind of get distracted by talking about The Studio, the new Seth Rogen show on AppleTV+.
Frank's back, folks. And he's the maintenance man. This week on Daredevil still no costumes but the drama and character stuff is simply terrific, plus we get two renditions of a Jefferson Starship classic. Before that we have some news, including the rumor that Kevin Feige is feeling iffy on the Russos after Electric State and that the fourth Spidey movie may be adapting Spider Island, a storyline where everybody in New York City gets Spider-Man powers. Is that a good idea? Eh.We just published the latest episode of Watch Men, where we talk about the Josh Trank Fantastic Four. It's available only for subscribers at the $5 and above levels at the Patreon. What are you waiting for?See you next week!
Will Secret Wars have the Hulk holding up a mountain? Should you film elder abuse and not do anything about it? And could there be a multiversal Mary Jane in Spider-Man 4? We discuss all of this and more before diving into this week's Daredevil Born Again. Which, for the record, we liked! It's an all-trial episode as Matt Murdock tries to keep White Tiger out of the clink, but courtroom shenanigans make a mess of everything, and that's before Matt does something to really make the judge angry. Thanks for listening, see you next week!
The Man Without Fear is back, and we're covering the first two episodes of his new Disney+ show. Which, by the way, offers absolutely no information for folks who may have not watched the original Netflix Daredevil. Thankfully you have us, who half-remember some stuff from the first two seasons. Speaking of us, this is a special episode - we're together in person! Derek flew to LA for the weekend and we took a road trip, but first we recorded this. That's why the sound is a bit off this week. Also, there are a couple of visual moments, and if you'd love to see them in action, simply head over to the Patreon or our YouTube channel .Next week we'll have the next episode, for which I am hopeful, Derek less so. What do you think of the show so far? Come join our Discord - for Patreon subscribers only - and tell us!
The first season of this alt-universe MCU Spidey show comes to a close with a huge surprising reveal about Spider-Man's origin, a visit from symbiotes and the Scorpion getting his face smashed in. The first act is over and the stage is set for season two, and we can't wait. Before that: Grand Theft Hamlet, the V miniseries and a whole buncha news this week. And by the way, stick around at the end of the show because we go pretty far afield after the recap is over. Just letting you know! We're off next week but we will return in two weeks with the first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again.
It gets real in this trio of episodes, as the traditionally kind of lame villain Scorpion proves a bit much for a young version of Spider-Man. When we say we gasped...Also: Brave New World gets the worst MCU Cinemascore, they may have a Dick Ryder ready for the Nova show and there's cursing in a promo for Superman. If you want to hear us talking about Captain America: Brave New World join the Patreon! Subscribers at the $5 and above levels get access to Watch Men, our monthly superhero deep dive podcast. BTW: If you get to the part of the episode where we start talking about Max's The Pitt and you don't watch The Pitt... you can just turn it off. That's the end of the show but we do go a teeny bit long there. See you next week for the conclusion of season one of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!
They're tossing a whole bunch of Spidey at us each week, but at least the show is good! This new take on young Spider-Man is having a blast playing with Marvel Comics lore and using real bottom of the barrel villains like Speed Demon and Unicorn. But Doc Ock waits in the wings, so maybe Spidey will be facing a real threat soon. Before that: the Super Bowl! There's a new Thunderbolts* trailer, but nothing for Superman. Does that show weakness on the part of WB or am I talking out my butt? Next week: three more episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!
We interrupt your week to bring you breaking news about the Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer and also Post Malone Oreos.
It's a new show as Marvel debuts their latest Spider-Man cartoon, the one with the impossibly long name. It was originally going to be set in the MCU but they changed their mind, and now it's taking place in its own little continuity with plenty of nods to what came before but some major changes and big swings. But is it any good? Before that: lots of news, including the fact that Harrison Ford will say the word "adamantium" in theaters in just two weeks, and also Derek talks about how much he loves and misses smoking. Not interested? Skip to 1:07:00. Next week: three episodes of YFNSM. Yes, three. Also: I forgot we were gonna do Captain America #119 so maybe we'll catch up with that as well.
It turns out Falcon's first appearance in Captain America #117 left us hanging, so we're back this week with the next issue, where the Red Skull does the ultimate evil of telling a group of Cap stans to go eff themselves. Technically the story doesn't end here, so we will be talking about #119 in the intro to next week's episode!Speaking of intros: Derek gets a new camera and is traumatized by the new Star Trek TV movie, I go long on The Love Boat (I was asked. Seriously!) and the showrunner of Daredevil: Born Again acknowledges that maybe the Netflix show was kind of dull as hell. Don't care about this? Skip to 53 minutes. Next week: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episodes 1 and 2!
Let's go back in time to when Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, first entered the Marvel Universe. You know him as a Harlem social worker, so of course Cap meets him... on an unnamed tropical island populated by WWII war criminals? You know how the comic books are. Before that we have some news and another installment of listener mail. You want your questions answered? Simply email us at ask.cinema.sangha@gmail.com and put the name of the show you want your question to appear on in the subject line. Easy as that!Don't miss out on our deep dive into 2020's Bloodshot, over on Watch Men. In February we'll be covering Captain America: Brave New World on that show, which is why we're hitting Sam's original origin this week. Next week we'll have part two of that origin in Captain America #118! Subscribe to Watch Men right now!
Our first look into the new DCU comes to a conclusion, but does it stick the landing? Can James Gunn bring it all together and make it work? And why doesn't Nina Mazursky get a lawyer anyway? Before that we go wide ranging on the LA fires, the news (what little of it there is), the It's Always Sunny/Abbott Elementary crossover and we answer listener mail. Find out what our least favorite comic book retcons are! Don't care? Skip to 58:58.As we wait for our next show, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, to begin, we will be reading some old comics. Come back next week to hear us discuss the first appearance of The Falcon in Captain America #117.Thanks for listening!
This episode sees a big change for us: we're also doing it on video! This audio version will remain forever, but you can also watch us if that's the kind of weird thing you're into. We're going to be uploading these to YouTube moving forward, and the videos will also be here on the Patreon. In the meantime: this week we get the origin of Dr. Phosphorus and if you were worried he wouldn't turn out to have a tragic past, I have good news for you. Also: Jason Momoa is Lobo, The Brave and the Bold is not delayed, and the final episode of What If...?. Thanks for listening, see you next week.
It's the best episode yet as Frankenstein takes center stage. And this episode of MarvelVision is certain to be the only podcast you hear this week where the conversation ranges from the origins of some racial slurs to the nature of evil with stops along the way to discuss robot vacuums, the global reaction to The Wizard of Oz and whether it's sad when an old person dies. In the intro we talk about the third season of What If...? and kind of skim through the episodes, as well as talk about the latest comic book movie news. If you don't care about that, skip to 1:10. Yes, one hour and ten minutes. This one's lengthy. We shall return next week with the next episode of Creature Commandos and the final episode of What If...?. Thanks for listening!
This week we get a flashback to Weasel's supposed crime that landed him in Belle Reve. But is Weasel even capable of understanding that he's in prison? And does everybody need to be a misunderstood monster? Also, we somehow get into a discussion about who won WWII. Before that there's news, including some good Superman news and some possibly troubling rumblings about that same movie. Also: lots of rumors! Are any of them true? If the ones about Spider-Man 4 are all true that is going to be one wild movie. Also: a little bit about the new season of What If...? Don't care about this? Skip to 38:32. Thanks for listening! See you next week for the next Creature Commandos and discussion of the final season of What If...?.
This morning James Gunn dropped the first teaser trailer for his Superman reboot on us, and we knew we needed to get on the mic and blather on with our impressions, insights and opinions. And so here that is, a quick episode devoted entirely to this trailer which - spoiler! - we both quite like!See you next week at the usual time.
It's Nazi killing time on Creature Commandos as we get GI Robot's origin story. But am I being too nitpicky with this show? And if so is it because of bias or because I expect something more from James Gunn? Also: some news! Perhaps too much discussion of Better Call Saul! And some tough trivia. If you don't care about any of that skip to 28:35.If you want to hear more of us talking comic book stuff, check out the latest episode of Watch Men, where we go in on the latest Sony superhero disaster, Kraven the Hunter. Available only to subscribers at the $5 or above level on the Patreon!
It's our first look at the new DCU, spearheaded by James Gunn. Is the view good or are we a bit concerned about what we're looking at? You'll have to listen to find out as we break down the first two episodes of this very adult-oriented cartoon that may be a remake of Suicide Squad (the first one). Before that: where in the world should Devin go? When is the Superman trailer coming? And did Marvel just abandon a bunch of film equipment in a cave? All that and more, but if you don't care about it, jump right to 34:08. Next week: more Creature Commandos. And coming soon: Kraven the Hunter, only on Watch Men. Join the Patreon at the $5 level to hear us dissect the latest Sony Spiderverse picture! Thanks for listening.
Why is my chair so squeaky? Is Derek burping? The only person who might know is The Watcher, who is introduced in this issue of Fantastic Four. A truly jam-packed bit of storytelling, this issue has dead cities on the Moon, a commie villain, a trio of super-apes, the winning of the space race and more. It's the kind of comic book fun that could only happen in the 60s. In the intro we chat a bit about robot vacuums and a mysterious picture of a pixelated man at the Fantastic Four wrap party. Plus: James Gunn answers a question about the Superman trailer. And I introduce Derek to the world of the Costco Guys. If you don't care about that, skip to 32:49. Next week: we start watching Creature Commandos, the first glimpse at the new DCU! Join us, won't you?
When does a criminal deserve leniancy? When they're very hot and have nice legs, according to Batman. Here's the first appearance of Catwoman, and it's a doozy. From Batman speaking directly to the kids at home to his immortal words "Be quiet or papa spank," this one has it all. Before that, some news, including a rumor about The Young Avengers becoming The Champions. Plus: the grisly origin of Wizard of Oz's Tin Man - and this is canonical. Next week: the first appearance of The Watcher in Fantastic Four #13. See you then!
This week we take a look at the first appearance of the next superstar of the silver screen, Kraven the Hunter. In his first appearance he fights apes, drinks a mysterious smoking brew and goes cruising in Central Park. Also: Peter Parker's love life is a mess, and we couldn't be happier about it. Before that we talk about a whole bunch of TV shows, including Rings of Power and Dune: Prophecy. There's news, and we welcome the new king scooper, Denzel Washington himself. Plus: trivia. If you don't care about any of this, skip right to 42:30.As we wait for Creature Commandos to start we shall keep reading comics, so join us next week as we read the first appearance of Catwoman, Batman #1. Thanks for listening!
It's the finale of The Penguin and good news: everybody ends up happy! Whew, I was worried for a minute there. Well okay, maybe that doesn't happen but wow was this a good final episode. We loved it. Before we get to The Penguin we have some news, including James Gunn personally humiliating me, new MCU trailers out of Brazil, and we discuss the ins and outs of Bluesky, the social network folks are fleeing to now that Twitter has gone full evil. If you don't care about any of that skip to 42:24.Next week: now that The Penguin is over we have some time until What If...? begins. We're going to fill at least some of that time with a return to reading comics, so join us next episode when we read Amazing Spider-Man #15, the first appearance of Kraven the Hunter. Thanks for listening!
It's the penultimate episode of The Penguin, and things get explosive. Plus, we take a look back at Oz's childhood and hoo boy do things get dark. Real, real dark. This show is not afraid to make this guy a true villain. Speaking of which, Sofia seemingly graduates to real supervillain status this episode, and we couldn't be happier. We recorded this episode on Election Day eve, so we have a little bit to say about that, but there's also a scoop that I drop about something coming up in Matt Reeves' "Batman Epic Crime Saga." You don't want to miss that, but if you do want to miss that, skip right to 32:46. Thanks for listening and see you next week for the finale!
It was Agatha all along after all. The show comes to an incredibly satisfying end, and lays groundwork for more yet to come in the MCU. This week Derek and I finally find a version of Aubrey Plaza that gets our motors humming, we discuss why Agatha ends up in the form she does, and argue about whether lemons were available in Massachussetts in 1750.Before that: we are recording on Halloween! There's candy talk, Ozempic talk and then we get into Marvel's entire 2025 slate, especially the recently revealed shows that are coming to Disney+. Are there real Wonder Man fans? We think so!If you don't care about that, skip right to 48:37. Thanks for listening and we will see you in a few days for the next episode of The Penguin!
Oz is up against the wall when the Maronis and Gigantes put the kibosh on his Bliss business, but he's always at his best when he's up against the wall. And when he's at his best he's a lying, cheating, backstabbing villain - this show does not hide just how awful its protagonist is. Before that: Zendaya is a goddess! James Gunn debunks more dumb rumors! And maybe the new trivia book we're using is a bit too hard. If you don't care about all of that skip right to 37:50 for the meat and the potatoes of the show. Meanwhile: we have a podcast up for Venom: The Last Dance! You can get it by subscribing to the Patreon at the $5 or above level or, if you don't want to do that, you can buy just the episode for $4 ($6 if you're on iOS because Apple takes a cut). Simply go to www.patreon.com/cinemasangha/shop to purchase! Thanks for listening and we will see you in a couple of days for the Agatha All Along finale.
It's a whopper of a Marvelvision as we go long on the excellent new episode of Agatha All Along. Is this the best Marvel TV episode? Is pre-trauma real? And has Derek ever had his tarot cards read? Find out! Before that: Blade disappears from the release schedule! Tom Holland talks Spider-Man 4! And does Venom: The Last Dance set up a Sony/MCU crossover in that fourth Spidey film? Plus more news and impossibly hard trivia. If you don't care about that skip to 52:38 to get to the recap/review. See you in a couple of days for The Penguin! Thanks for listening.
Can the show live up to last week's stellar episode? Hell yes, it turns out, as things get hotter and hotter for Oz (and some other folks as well). Homecoming is a packed episode where a ton of stuff happens and where the status quo changes in major, major ways, and we're here to break it all down. As part of that we ask questions like: does the Chief of Police think Sofia is the Hangman? Will Vic make it out of the show alive? And should The Penguin's villain lair be an abandoned cannery? Before that we have some news, and also some chatting about the movies. We talk about American Movie, Terrifier, Smile and more, and we debate whether or not Lanterns being "grounded" is a good thing. We do not debate the Creature Commandoes trailer, though - neither one of us are fans. Don't care about that? Jump to 40:04.See you next week, and also in a couple of days as we return for Agatha All Along!
It's the Teen backstory we've been waiting for, and even though we all knew who he was, it still lands! And we get to see his side of the interrogation from episode 1. Plus: did they sneak Hulkling into this episode? Before that we have a bit of news, including new Fantastic Four images and Tom Holland saying the Spider-Man 4 script still needs work. What does that mean? And what does Tom put first - himself or Spider-Man? If you don't care about that, skip to 28:41. We shall return in a couple of days with The Penguin!
What if we got an episode of The Penguin and it had almost no Penguin in it and it was still one of the best episodes of the show so far? This week's installment has Sofia's backstory and really heightens the so-called grounded show to a level that is thrilling and fun. Before that we have a little bit of news and Derek relays the story of his visit to the Winchester Mystery House. And when you get to the end of the episode... it's not the end! We ended up going on a couple of diversions just as we were trying to sign off. Heads up. If you don't want the news and spooky Mystery House action, jump to 21:35. We will return in a couple of days with the next episode of Agatha All Along!
It's a big reveal this week as Teen's true identity becomes known - well, to anyone who reads Marvel Comics, I guess. But don't worry, because we break down just what that crown means and who he is, as well as talk about what did and did not work in this Ouija-tastic outing. Before that we talk about some dumb life stuff, all the Lanterns news and whether we should be criticizing it already, and the wild flood of likely phony scoops we keep getting about Spider-Man 4. If you don't care about that stuff, skip right to 35:14.Thanks for listening! We're back in a couple of days with The Penguin. In the meantime, consider joining the Patreon at the $5 or above level to listen to our Watch Men episode about Joker: Folie à Deux (click here) or spend just $4 to buy the episode individually (click here).
Have you been wanting to get to know Vic better? This episode is for you, as it explores Oz's sidekick's past, including where he was when The Riddler flooded Gotham City. Meanwhile, as always, Oz is thinking on his feet but he also seems to keep getting himself into deeper and deeper trouble. Is there a faction in Gotham City he won't piss off? Before that we have news and updates, including Derek's adventure door knocking as a campaigner for democracy. Skip to 27:58 if you just want to get to The Penguin.Over on Watch Men we went deep on Joker: Folie à Deux. We had a split decision on this one. Want to know where we each came down? Become a $5 or above subscriber at the Patreon or click here to buy the episode on its own for $4!Thanks for listening. Agatha All Along is coming up!
It's a 70s spectacular... but no coke. I guess that was Kevin Feige's hard rule, as per Deadpool and Wolverine. On Agatha All Along this week we have the next trial, and it includes rocking out and a cool demon. Plus: gay stuff! Before that we learn that Derek has made a shocking decision, and we talk about the newly announced Dynamic Duo animated movie coming from DC. If that's of no interest to you, skip right to 32:54 and get to the episode recap and review!Next week we will have our Joker: Folie a Deux review, available only to subscribers at the $5 or above level at the Patreon, which you can find right here. And then in November we're doing Venom: The Last Dance. Come join us!Thanks for listening. See you in a few days for The Penguin.
Oz has really stepped in it and this week things just keep getting more difficult. The Penguin keeps ramping up the complications in a way that reminds us of Breaking Bad, but thankfully not quite that nerve-wracking. We talk about some news and some new movies, including The Apprentice and Megalopolis, and if you don't want to hear all that just skip right to 26:59. Also: our Watch Men episode about Blade is up, and serves as an unexpected memorial to Kris Kristofferson. We recorded it right before he died, but we say such nice things about him that we feel pretty good about it. You can get that by subscribing to the Patreon at a $5 or above level or, if you don't want to subscribe, you can purchase this episode all on its own by clicking here.
Good news everyone - Marvel listened to Derek's complaints last week and over the past seven days totally fixed Agatha All Along to his liking. This week's episode is clever, spooky, fun, and best of all, episodic. There's a whole story in here! Before that: news! Including who is playing Hal Jordan, what Marvel movie Jordan Peele might direct and the tuna fish sandwich I had for lunch. If none of this appeals, please skip right to 38:36 to get into the recap/review.In a couple of days: The Penguin episode 2. We're giving you so many podcasts this month! Please show your appreciation by rating and reviewing us on your favorite podcast app. It helps a lot!
So, heads up: we had some technical difficulty with this episode. This required a lot of stitching things together, which I'm not exactly the best at, and as a result you may find the episode to have a certain delightfully herky jerky feel to it. We begin our coverage of The Penguin, the spin-off from The Batman, and boy oh boy do we like this one. A bunch. A mob show set in the Gotham of Matt Reeve's Batman, this is a grounded and gritty take that actually works. Because we released an episode just a couple of days ago we don't have much news this time, so if you don't want to hear us talk about Ronald Reagan go to 15:08. Thanks for listening! We'll be back in a couple of days with the next episode of Agatha All Along and then again next week with episode two of The Penguin.
It's a fight! This week we throw down over Agatha All Along, the latest MCU show on Disney+. A spin-off of Wandavision, this show forces us to ponder just what an episode is, and also gives us a very good song. But like I said, there's a tussle in there. Before that we have a little bit of news, the ants are back, and a trivia question stumps both your hosts. Don't care about that? Jump right to 25:13.We'll be back before you know it - Marvelvision is going twice a week as we cover both Agatha All Along and The Penguin on Max. Expect our next episode on Monday as we talk about the first episode of the Colin Farrell-starring spinoff from The Batman. Until then: thanks for listening!
This week we're diving back into the first appearance of Agatha Harkness, whose new show Agatha All Along debuts on Disney+ in the coming days. We'll be covering that show, so it made sense to look back at where it all started. And it started kinda weird! This comic is at the end of the historic Lee/Kirby run, and it's a light and odd story that finds The Thing in full Lou Costello mode. In the intro: we have a bit of news, including the Venom 3 trailer. If you don't care about that stuff skip right to 30:24 for the comic review!Heads up: we will be covering both Agatha All Along and The Penguin, which means this show will be coming out twice a week for the next month or so. Don't ever say we never gave you anything. Thanks for listening!
This week and next we prepare for September's new comic book shows, The Penguin and Agatha All Along. Up first: the first appearance of The Penguin in an early Batman adventure that shows just how much Bats was not a grim avenger of the night for very long at all. That starts at 1:02. Yes, one hour and two minutes. But if you skip to there you'll miss all the news that hit this weekend, including a bunch of rumors, the question of whether we need anymore Falcone in Batman stuff after The Penguin and me discussing how I personally, and with my own power, destroyed the Zack Snyder DCEU. Exciting stuff. Next week: Fantastic Four #94, the first appearance of Agatha Harkness! Thanks for listening!
We wrap up the first season of Caped Crusader with a Two-Face two-parter, and it's a doozy. Stick around until the very end to hear us talk about where this show stacks up in the history of adapted Batmen and our relationships with Batman adaptations over the years. Before that: Derek goes to a concert! The Thing is seen on the set of Fantastic Four! This week's trivia is really, really hard. Interested in the Superman piece I recollect fondly in this episode? Read it right here. If you don't care about any of that stuff skip right to 40:00 to get to the meat of the episode. This week's music is Two Faces Have I by Lou Christy. Next week: we will read the Penguin's first appearance in Detective Comics #58 as we prepare for the upcoming Penguin TV show. Thanks for listening!
We're back from our trip, which means it's back to Gotham as we get to the penultimate episode of our series on the newest Batman cartoon, Batman: The Caped Crusader. This one gives us an LA Confidential-tinged cop story and a vampire tale filled with special guest stars who go unremarked upon in the show. Sneaky! We don't have as much intro this week as usual, but our theme song is by Todd Rundgren. Thanks for listening!
This week the Faraci boys did something we rarely do - we got together! We took a family road trip to visit the home of Jerry Siegel, where Superman was created. And we went with our father and our sister. This episode was recorded by a single mic on the dining room table of a rented AirBnB, and our father Joe joins (Ariel declined). This one is all-intro, no meat, but the real ones have been waiting to hear from Joe!We'll be back soon with our regularly scheduled program. Thanks for listening!
On this week's Batman: The Caped Crusader episodes we get the introduction of a classic Batvillain. That's right, King Tut! Also, Harley Quinn and a Scooby Doo episode that blows open the boundaries of what this show can be. Before that we have some news and chat, including information about why upcoming episodes of our podcasts will be delayed (like this one was) and why you might see a special episode in your feeds in the days ahead. Have you heard there's a new Batman cartoon and it's about crime, and also Jim Gordon's old beat is heavily featured? This will make a lot more sense after you listen to this episode of Marvelvision, where we talk about two more episodes of Batman: The Caped Crusader, specifically Kiss of the Catwoman and Night of the Hunters. Spoiler: we like 'em A LOT. Before that, it's time to see what came out of D23. Is it weird that there's still no date announced for Ironheart? What did we think of the Agatha All Along trailer? All this and more revealed. If you don't care about that news, skip to 40:12. Meanwhile, looks like our next episode of Watch Men will be The Rocketeer. Join our Patreon at the $5 or above level to get access to our episode talking about this underrated early modern superhero movie - does it hold up? Next week: two more Batman: The Caped Crusader episodes. See you then!
Amazon has dumped 10 episodes of the new Bruce Timm Batman cartoon all at once, but we're going to be taking these two by two over the next few weeks. Let's be upfront: your hosts were not very psyched about this show in advance and then we watched it and are forced to eat our words. Not unlike how RFK Jr was trying to eat some bear. We don't mean to get political, but the news right before we recorded was so wild we had to talk about it. If you'd rather get straight to Gotham City, skip to 45:57. If you're a Watch Men subscriber look for a new poll very soon! If not, why not? Come join at www.patreon.com/cinemasangha. Thanks for listening!
