On today’s episode of This is Austin, I’m speaking with Gertie Wilson, founder of the Austin-based, non-toxic beauty and skincare line, Elevé Cosmetics. As a makeup artist, Gertie has transformed the faces of hundreds of people including actors, models, singers, the occasional reality TV star, and many an Austin bride. When she noticed a lack of quality makeup options that were free of harmful ingredients, Gertie set out to create her own line and Elevé Cosmetics was born. Gertie and I discussed growing up in West Texas and the culture shock she experienced moving to Austin, her experience doing makeup for celebrities at SXSW, along with why it is important to switch to “green” beauty and skincare.
