Recently, buzz has erupted among Bad Bunny fans and music enthusiasts following the leak of a photograph seemingly captured on the set of NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series. Although the acclaimed Puerto Rican artist, known for his genre-bending Latin trap and reggaeton music, has not yet graced the renowned platform, the image has fueled speculation that a performance may be forthcoming. The NPR Tiny Desk Concert is a celebrated series that showcases intimate performances by artists from around the world. It is known for its up-close-and-personal format that strips down musical acts to their core elements, often leading to refreshing and unique reinterpretations of popular songs. The leaked photo in question features a setup reminiscent of the Tiny Desk environment, complete with an assortment of instruments and cozy, eclectic decor that aligns with the program's aesthetic. While there is no official confirmation from NPR or Bad Bunny's team, the image has rapidly circulated on social media, tantalizing fans with the possibility of witnessing the global icon in such an intimate and acoustic setting.Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has experienced meteoric success and visibility, transcending the Latin music scene to become a global sensation. His distinct style, characterized by his eclectic fashion sense and introspective lyrics that often tackle themes of love, heartbreak, and social issues, has resonated deeply with audiences worldwide.A potential Tiny Desk Concert featuring Bad Bunny would follow a host of landmark moments in his career, including his historic achievement as the first all-Spanish language album, "El Último Tour Del Mundo," to top the US Billboard 200 chart. Such a performance could offer fans a new perspective on his music, highlighting his vocal prowess and charismatic presence sans the heavy production typical of his high-energy live shows. This isn't the first time NPR has featured major Latin artists, but a set by Bad Bunny would undoubtedly be a notable entry in the series, further showcasing the growing impact and popularity of Latin music across global markets. As fans eagerly await any official announcements, the speculation continues to build, driving excitement and anticipation for what could be one of Tiny Desk's most memorable performances yet.

The story of Fantastic Negrito is one of those stranger-than-fiction tales – born Xavier Dphrepaulezz and raised in a strict Muslim home, he had an aborted career as an R&B star under the name Xavier, a near-fatal car accident, a seven year break from music, and then came roaring back with what he called “Black roots music for Everyone.” As Fantastic Negrito, he won the first NPR Tiny Desk Concert and then three Grammys for his stomping, blues-rockin' albums. But the story has taken another unexpected twist, and that has led to Fantastic Negrito's new album, Son Of A Broken Man. During the quarantine part of the pandemic, Fantastic Negrito dug into his family's past on one of the ancestry sites. He'd found that he was the son of a “yarn-spinning” father who claimed roots in East Africa, but whose lineage actually went back several generations to a tobacco plantation in Virginia. Between the large number of siblings and the “punk rock story” of mixed marriage in his family, he uncovered a lot of inconsistencies with the stories of the past, and a whole lot of loving. Fantastic Negrito “hides behind the flashy jacket” and turns his trauma into art, playing some of his blues-stomp-and-roll music for everyone, in-studio. - Caryn Havlik Set list: 1. Devil In My Pocket 2. Crooked Road 3. I Hope Somebody's Loving You 4. Son of a Broken Man
OA1044 Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has used Georgia's RICO statute against everyone from public school teachers to environmental protesters to a former President of the United States. This week we examine Willis's massive 88-page RICO indictment of rapper Young Thug and 27 other associates of YSL, the Atlanta record label which her office alleges is also operating as a violent street gang. Matt shakes his geriatric millennial first at the scourge of mumble rap before breaking down what has already become the longest criminal trial in Georgia history and the injustice of prosecutors using an artist's lyrics against them in court. Finally, we break down this month's most listener-requested story: judge Ural Glanville's inexplicable decision not only to secretly meet with a prosecutor and one of the state's most important witnesses without defense counsel present, but to sentence Young Thug's attorney to 20 days in jail simply for noticing that he wasn't supposed to. What is going on here, and could there possibly be a good explanation for it? There's often a disparity between how men and women make sacrifices for their relationship. In a long-term partnership, it's normal and necessary to compromise, but how do we ensure that said compromises don't make us lose important parts of ourselves in the process? Dr. Alexandra Solomon joins us to talk about how to identify, communicate, and retain independent parts of ourselves as we embark on a life journey with someone we love. We talk about… - how to keep the “me” within the “we” - is dating objectively harder now than it was in the past? why or why not? - should we go through our partner's phones as a way to ensure honesty? Remember: when two individuals form a unit, there are parts of their individuality that may be pushed aside. It's not always a bad thing as long as we acknowledge each other's individualities within. Track 5: "Action" - Sweet What current accomplishment would your younger self be most proud of and why? Track 6: "Popular" - Nada Surf What yearbook style superlative would you give to your high school self and why? What superlative would you use to describe you now? This artist is known for his use of Auto-Tune and pushing the boundaries of music. As a child, T-Pain knew he wanted to leave his hometown of Tallahassee to pursue his musical talents. He eventually discovered Auto-Tune and created a remix of Akon's “Locked Up”, dubbed “F***ed Up”, which led to Akon recognizing T-Pain's potential. T-Pain pursued his music career and came out with his first single, “I'm Sprung” which became a #1 hit. Critics thought that T-Pain's signature Auto-Tune sound was a gimmick, however they were proved wrong when the single “Buy You a Drank” shot to #1. T-Pain marched to his own tune and what felt good to him, a genre he calls “Hard & B”. Now, he's a star with four Billboard top 10 singles and his own show “T-Pain's School of Business”. He even proved his natural singing ability by winning The Masked Singer and performing an NPR Tiny Desk Concert. T-Pain continues to represent his genre defining sound and has shaped the direction of pop music, all while building his legacy. Watch Behind the Music now on Paramount+.

"You don't have to be recognised as a Legend, to live like one." In this uplifting and emotional conversation Francesca Conate talks about dealing with a drawn-out diagnosis, dating with a disability and bringing beautiful energy into the world and the connection between our mind and body. From a coaching perspective there is so much to jump into - the twists and turns of life, taking responsibility WITHOUT BLAME for your situation, living life with a joyous and optimistic energy - living like a legend, even if you are not recognised as one. Having confidence from the inside out. She moved to Japan and spent 13 happy years working as a business English Consultant for Blue Chip Companies and started the Facebook Group African in Japan, where she shares the joy and stories of people and cities in all the countries of Africa. After 13 years in Japan, she returned to West USA to deal with health condition and entered a two-year period of uncertainty and heartache while waiting for a diagnosis. Although this was a difficult and emotional journey for her, it is through telling this story that she becomes life coach to us - advising how to navigate such a situation with skill and wisdom. And of course it applies to many other areas of life - not just diagnosis. Eldest of 3 children of an African American Mum, born in the 50's, and West African Dad, we talk about losing a parent very suddenly and very quickly when she was very young, and about disease, balance, blame, fear and how we are always trying to work out how we can stay well and live a long life. How she started to lose herself in her long diagnosis journey but them realised that Francesca was alive and well inside her. It didn't change - nobody, on her return to Japan was treating her any different because of her cane, her changed mobility and her adjusted energy levels Being your own best advocate and how she would invite us to go through the diagnosis process - this gets emotional from the heart as Francesca thinks about how it could help people from going through the same heartache she did when she was going through the 2-year diagnosis process. She talks about how she pushed back to Doctors and demanded diagnoses not guess-work, her approach to advocating for herself, her body and her health and how her Dad's logical approach is forever present in her daily life. Her Mum is the biggest influence in her life, having been a solo parent since her 30s, her Mum made her everything she is today and her Dad is ever present. She was and IS still 100% Francesca. One thing that strikes me about Francesca is her uncompromising presence. And her focus. As we talk about masculine energy, not allowing being a woman to silence her, and how to win at life, we also muse on how it is crucial to be happy for other people's winning. What a treat this one was - I feel like I just had a coaching masterclass in living fully with our mind, body and presence. And of course with our loved ones. Africa in Japan on Facebook Go and follow this to share in the joy of all the different countries of Africa and the amazing people, cities and culture. You can find information about MS here. Are you missing live music and the sense of community you feel when out on the town? Are you craving connection with the creative energy of your favorite musicians and artists? This week we’ve got the certified biggest voice in town plus our favorite guitar genius - in the HOUSE! Literally, in our house - don’t worry we stayed in our own corners. Grammy-nominated singer Candace Devine and local rock god Drew Hall join us for a no holds barred talk about creativity, re-invention, and community, as well as playing some music to lift your spirits. We used several of the fan-submitted questions to pry into the life and history and thoughts of our passionately creative guests. Candace has been a professional singer since her early 20s, working with Christina Aguilera, Styx, the Four Tops and many others in the recording studio and out on the road touring. In this episode, we find out that she is both a champion equestrian coach AND a cat enchantress. Also, she swears like a sailor, so proceed at your own risk #totally worth it. Drew is a former banker who defied the 9-5 life at his earliest opportunity, going on to be in every kind of band, teach guitar to young and old musicians alike, and curate exceptional music shows here in Prescott. In pre-Covid times, Drew could be spotted playing with the Cheektones, Summa Totius, THiS Trio with Slim Gamble of Lady Antebellum fame, Drew & Anton, and many many more! 3This podcast episode hits a lot of the superlative buttons: longest, loudest, biggest recording challenge, most cat input, most social media engagement, and definitely the most musical. Candace and Drew played two songs for us live, and we play you the recording of “Don’t Worry Child (Rosalyn)” their newest collaboration and entry into the NPR Tiny Desk Concert. “Don’t Worry Child is ostensibly about Drew’s daughter, but in our view, it’s really for and about all of us living through these stressful times. Everyone's taste in music changed over time, and the guys sat down today to map out their musical journey, starting with their very first favorite song, and how preference adapted and got more sophisticated as they aged. They also discuss the question that’s on a lot of twenty-something’s minds these days, is it okay to not emotionally attach to music like you used to? Walter Martin has seen a lot, and he's got stories to tell. These days, he's an affable, well-adjusted dad whose solo work explores art history, kids' songs about zoo animals, and a particularly lonely solo Australian tour, which he turned into a barber shop quartet extravaganza at a recent NPR Tiny Desk Concert. But the events that brought him here are a whirlwind three decades' worth of American rock 'n roll lore. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
On this episode of AMYLA's "Window Seat", singer/songwriter Maimouna Youssef (who recently spit a powerful and viral verse on Common/August Greene's NPR Tiny Desk Concert), chats with Stic Man of Dead Prez and shares an incredible story of how the two met at Dave Chappelle's Block Party and bonded over music.
"Detroit is a city much like my own," says Ball. "It's been through so much, but there's so many roses in the concrete."
Drive-By Truckers Explore Duality And Dirt - 1:20With their double-barreled live sets and searing lyrical craft, the Drive-By Truckers are an easy add to top-ten list of best American rock bands playing today. Formed in Athens, Georgia circa 1996, the DBTs have had a lot of volatile personnel changes — Grammy-winner Jason Isbell was part of the lineup for a few years —but they’ve settled in nicely with partners in grime, Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood, at the helm. Their most recent record, “American Band”, continues Hood and Cooley’s exploration of duality in American identity. The band played the entire record through last October for a special NPR First Listen, hosted by opbmusic.Tiny Desk, Big Sound - Tank and the Bangas - 14:17Thousands of acts entered this year’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert, but the winner blew them all away: The New Orleans funk/soul/spoken-word outfit Tank and the Bangas. They visited opbmusic during their nationwide victory lap. Tarriona “Tank” Ball cut her teeth in slam poetry — no surprise when you hear her rich lyrical wordplay and sheer joy in storytelling. The Last Artful, Dodgr Dips, Dives, and Delivers - 22:50One of the brightest voices on the Portland hip hop scene is Alana Chenevert, A.K.A. The Last Artful, Dodgr. With producer Neil von Tally, she released a delightfully trip, imaginative debut album on Martell Webster’s Eyrst record label. Dodgr and von Tally joined us for a studio session with tracks from the record, “Bone Music,” flexing both her rhymes and the singing voice that landed her a backup spot with Aminé, and helped launch her as a force to be reckoned with.Charles Bradley Keeps Going Forward - 33:06Charles Bradley, a crowd favorite at Portland’s Soul’d Out festival and MusicFest NW, cultivated his booming voice for years as a James Brown impersonator. It wasn't until he was 62 years old that he found mainstream success, singing his own music. In this NPR feature, he tells how his relationship with his estranged mother informed his 2016 record, “Changes.”From Bedroom Pop To SXSW - Jay Som’s Journey- 37:42opbmusic stumbled upon this Bay Area rock band two months ago in Austin, Texas at the SXSW music festival and were immediately impressed by their live show. The band is a project of 23-year-old Melina Duterte, who released her first music to the internet on whim, never guessing how people would hang on her painstakingly crafted melodies and broad grasp of styles.Big Thief Steals The Show - 44:35Adrianne Lenker and band have a warm, intimate folk rock vibe that brings home story after story — some primal, many heartbreaking. At Pickathon they’ll play songs from their second album, "Capacity," but we caught the band touring for their first record, "Masterpiece." Lenker and company talked about how they came together, the ethos underlying their romantic melodies, and the things they find, turning over emotional rocks, as well as played three songs.
