Living small is an unconscious choice; you can choose to live large. Key takeaways: Living small robs you of your greatest potential. Living a life that isn't small requires risk. Remember, no risk, no reward. Your comfort zone will keep you living small. “There are people who have interviewed people on their death beds. In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: How the lies we tell ourselves about what we should be, have or do cause us to feel extremely powerful but negative emotions. They rarely benefit us in a sustainable and positive way. How “Shoulding” ourselves can make us feel and how to identify them. We tell ourselves we “Should” ourselves for our benefit, but rarely is that the case. Key takeaways: The “you should… (be, have, or do something) by now” thoughts can cause us to feel like failures. The “you should have known…” thought can cause the emotions, Cheddy calls “the triad of terror,” to present themselves in your life. Those are the negative emotions of fear, guilt, and shame. Oftentimes the “Shoulds” come in a familiar voice and therefore are trusted and accepted with little or no objection. This is not an excuse to not take care of your obligations and responsibilities. We must learn to discern between a beneficial and detrimental “Should” in our lives. “Should” is “could” with SHAME attached to it. “Be mindful of those around you and yourself and how many times you hear the ‘shoulda' conversation… it puts you in a state of lack -and wanting and needing!” -Cheddy Matthews “Watch how you ‘Should' on other people!" -Michelle Wickman Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g
In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: How we assign the responsibility for our happiness to things outside of us. We have more control over our emotions than we realize, acknowledge, or admit. Consumerism relies on us believing the “I'll be happy when…” lie. Key takeaways: Michelle explains how Dr. Seuss' book The Sneetches illustrates the “I'll be happy when…” lie and how it can playout in our lives. The, “I'll be happy when…” lie, keeps us dissatisfied and always looking for the thing that will make us happy.. Oftentimes the thing we thought would make us happy only provides a feeling of happiness for a short period of time. We are responsible for our happiness, regardless of the circumstances. We are meaning-making machines. “I am responsible for my own happiness!” - Michelle Wickman Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g
In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: How the lie we tell ourselves about not being enough affects the quality of our life. What life could be like if you refused to adopt the idea of not-enoughness. Key takeaways: Regardless of position, status, or title, many people deal with not-enoughess.. Accepting not-enoughness makes you play small. If you are in a room (position, role, etc.), you deserve to be there.. Take active steps to support the idea you are enough. “It's a lie; but it's a lie that we live with. We've accepted it and we've owned that lie to the point it seems like it's a truth!” - Cheddy Matthews Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g
In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: Frustrations with the healthcare industry The Difference between being a “squeaky wheel” and a “Karen.” How to have a healthy mindset when self advocating. Key takeaways: We are conditioned to accept what is given to us. Sometimes it is important to ensure your specific needs are met; that requires self-advocation. Be self aware enough to know whether you are being a “Karen” (Offensive advocation) or advocating for your particular needs. Know you deserve to be seen, heard, and have your needs addressed appropriately. Key takeaways: Your possibilities are limitless! When we align with victimization, you're living small and dishonoring the power and potential you possess. A victim cycle consists of three actors: 1. Victim, 2. Perpetrator, 3.Savior/Rescuer. The roles can change from moment to moment. Three steps to convert self-victimization into self-empowerment. 1. Stop, get back to reality. 2. Identity facts from the story that feeds self-victimization. 3. In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: It is necessary to acknowledge your emotions and deal with them as they are experienced. It is not okay to discount your emotions or the emotions of others. Be sincere and not dismissive when dealing with people's emotions. In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: When to not take responsibility Focusing on what you can control The journey of pursuing a goal Creating something from nothing Key takeaways: Taking responsibility over things that you don't own is sometimes an admirable trait, but in many ways it's very unhealthy and it doesn't do much good. A person who does that will end up getting frustrated over something they have no power over. Focus your energy on where you can do good and define clearly to yourself what you are responsible for, factually speaking. You are not responsible for other individuals. There is so much value, so much growth that one could attain by being on a journey of pursuing a goal. It's never about getting the goal, it's about becoming the person you needed to be to achieve that goal. The possibility is limitless when you accept personal responsibility for your goals. You are in charge of your mind, you are in charge of your destiny, and you are in charge of your life. You can create something from nothing, but you have to decide what that something is. “It's not about taking responsibility for another individual's actions, reactions, or inactions. It's about understanding and building an awareness of what you are in control of, what you are empowered to believe, what you are empowered to think about…” - Michelle Wickman Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g Connect with Cheddy Matthews: Website: www.HEDSpaceCoaching.com Book: www.calendly.com/cheddymatthews Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: CheddySpeaks@gmail.com Twitter: @CheddySpeaks Facebook: @CheddySpeaks YouTube: @CheddySpeaks LinkedIn: www.LinkedIn.com/in/CheddyMatthews Instagram: @CheddySpeaks Connect with Michelle Wickman: Website: www.WickmanWellness.com Book: www.https://lifecoachmichelle.as.me Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: Michelle@wickmanwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickman.michelle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellewickman/ Instagram:@wickman_wellness
In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: Deciding to just do it Doing hard things When your mind and body aligns Inspiring and motivating others Key takeaways: You can either take all this time to prepare to do the thing or you can decide to just do it and jump in, knowing that you can complete it. Do difficult activities that remind you that you can do hard things and survive. Physical exercise or even taking an ice-cold bath can do this for you. You'll surprise yourself with what you're able to accomplish when your mind and body are aligned with one another. When you do hard things, you are not only able to appreciate yourself more but you'll be able to inspire and motivate others who are like you to do hard things as well. “Sometimes you gotta remind yourself that you ARE a rockstar” - Cheddy Matthews Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g Connect with Cheddy Matthews: Website: www.HEDSpaceCoaching.com Book: www.calendly.com/cheddymatthews Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: CheddySpeaks@gmail.com Twitter: @CheddySpeaks Facebook: @CheddySpeaks YouTube: @CheddySpeaks LinkedIn: www.LinkedIn.com/in/CheddyMatthews Instagram: @CheddySpeaks Connect with Michelle Wickman: Website: www.WickmanWellness.com Book: www.https://lifecoachmichelle.as.me Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: Michelle@wickmanwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickman.michelle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellewickman/ Instagram:@wickman_wellness
In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: What are reference groups? How reference groups can help Clearing your energy Empowered to choose Key takeaways: Your reference group is the people that you associate yourself with, the people that heavily influence you and greatly relate to you in your season of life. Having a reference group can inspire you to grow, achieve goals and be a better person. They might share new insights that can create breakthroughs in your life, and they might be able to influence you positively. Some groups in your life can impact you negatively. That's why it's important to have resources and tools that will help you clear your energy and reset your mind. Try meditation, mindfulness, or breathwork. Put yourself in the headspace of empowerment - from that space of having no choice into knowing that you do have a choice, and you are making that choice. “When you realize that you have a choice, when you feel like you have a choice, your sensation of empowerment versus being a victim or forced into these experiences and actions - your experience of being empowered elevates… when you begin to live with choice.” - Michelle Wickman Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g Connect with Cheddy Matthews: Website: www.HEDSpaceCoaching.com Book: www.calendly.com/cheddymatthews Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: CheddySpeaks@gmail.com Twitter: @CheddySpeaks Facebook: @CheddySpeaks YouTube: @CheddySpeaks LinkedIn: www.LinkedIn.com/in/CheddyMatthews Instagram: @CheddySpeaks Connect with Michelle Wickman: Website: www.WickmanWellness.com Book: https://www.lifecoachmichelle.as.me Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: Michelle@wickmanwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickman.michelle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellewickman/ Instagram:@wickman_wellness
In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: You need grace The cure for perfectionism Getting to the root cause Liberation from rumination Key takeaways: Everybody needs grace, even you. It will help you cope with the most common phenomenon in all human beings: failure. Without grace, you can't grow as a human being. Giving grace is all about releasing yourself from trying to attain that unattainable goal of perfectionism. When things are great, humble yourself. When things go bad, give grace to yourself. Keep a Q&A dialogue going in your head, challenge your thoughts, get real and go deep into the issue until you reach the root cause. Extending grace is the liberation from that rumination. Do not keep yourself chained up because of a mistake you made. Take ownership and responsibility of it while giving yourself grace. Grace is a source of power, remember that. “Be so careful with yourself because your subconscious is listening to that language. Whether it's inside your head or you're saying out loud…watch what you say to yourself.” - Michelle Wickman B 100% responsible for your actions. Reflect on your actions, and see yourself with compassion in that moment. Be more proactive be more positive in your self talk. Some of oyur own paradigms have been forced unto you - and most are good, and are necessary for that time of your life. Now, you must be brave enough to unlearn, learn, and relearn, whatever it is you need to in order to grow. That will require a lot of grace. The past happened, own that and own your present. Extending grace is the liberation from that rumination. Do not keep yourself chained up because of a mistake you made. Take ownership and responsibility of it while giving yourself grace. – Keep a Q&A dialogue going in your head, get real and get deep into the issue until you reach what might be the root cause. – Challenge that thought. Get to that reason why you don't let yourself get grace. When things are great, humble yourself. When things go bad, give grace to yourself. Giving grace is all about releasing yourself from trying to attain that unattainable goal of perfectionism. If you're even 1% better this week than you were last week, that's progress. Congratulations! You're growing. Growth will take mistakes and failure. When you ask yourself why - answer the question. When you answer the question ask yourself why again. – We extend grace to others, but not to ourselves. We don't believe we're as deserving. Extending grace = comforting yourself. You have to check yourself, ask yourself if you're going to be ass unmerciful to others. It's about how we grow as human beings. Watch those words that you use, Be so careful with yourself because your subconscious is listening to that language. In this episode, Cheddy, Michelle, and Amanda discuss: Putting yourself in an all-in situation Self Betrayal Investing in yourself too Focusing on the “who” The great value of your failures Key takeaways: Putting yourself in an “all-in” situation is a high-level motivation. The knowledge that you “can't NOT do it” means that you're going to have to do it and succeed. Invest in yourself, it's non-negotiable. You own your business, it doesn't own you. You must pay yourself. You're not working for your business, your business is working for you. Focus on the “who” first. Finding the right people who know the “how” and the “what” will get you there more than you trying to do everything yourself poorly. Your story, your failures in the past, can save people from a long and rough learning period. There is great value in your stories of failure, value that the people around you deserve to be given. “Failure isn't death, it's the beginning of something that can be really beautiful - taking your garbage and turning it into compost.” - Amanda Bedell Connect with Amanda Bedell: Website: https://bccbusinessconsulting.com/ | https://www.bedellcc.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/amandabedell/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/amandabedell Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g Connect with Cheddy Matthews: Website: www.HEDSpaceCoaching.com Book: www.calendly.com/cheddymatthews Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: CheddySpeaks@gmail.com Twitter: @CheddySpeaks Facebook: @CheddySpeaks YouTube: @CheddySpeaks LinkedIn: www.LinkedIn.com/in/CheddyMatthews Instagram: @CheddySpeaks Connect with Michelle Wickman: Website: www.WickmanWellness.com Book: www.https://lifecoachmichelle.as.me Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: Michelle@wickmanwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickman.michelle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellewickman/ Instagram:@wickman_wellness
In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: What is motivation Tactics that would inspire us into taking action Mindset for action Identifying your goals and your whys Key takeaways: Motivation is a feeling. It is a sensation that you are inspired to take action, and accomplish something. There are four tactics that you can deploy in order to get motivated and this includes the inner drill instructor (shut up and get it done), the hostage negotiator (acknowledging the reasons you don't want to do something but telling yourself the benefits you can receive by taking action), the bribing the toddler (giving yourself a reward for doing the thing), and the inner psychic (knowing it's not going to happen so you find external reasons or other methods to get it done). Your mindset for action is your willpower to go from thinking about doing something to actually doing it, as well as your persistence to keep going despite not knowing what comes ahead in the pursuit of a larger objective. Your goals and your whys are your personal motivation to get into action. “There's going to be setbacks, and there's going to be failures. It's how you manage your thoughts and emotions, how you acknowledge the successes that you've had, and how you acknowledge the movement and the momentum that you've created with the actions that you've taken” - Michelle Wickman Connect with Michelle Wickman: Website: www.WickmanWellness.com Book: www.https://lifecoachmichelle.as.me Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: Michelle@wickmanwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickman.michelle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellewickman/ Instagram:@wickman_wellness Connect with Cheddy Matthews: Website: www.HEDSpaceCoaching.com Book: www.calendly.com/cheddymatthews Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: CheddySpeaks@gmail.com Twitter: @CheddySpeaks Facebook: @CheddySpeaks YouTube: @CheddySpeaks LinkedIn: www.LinkedIn.com/in/CheddyMatthews Instagram: @CheddySpeaks Connect with The Winning Inside Podcast: Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g
Luke Wright:Don't Find an Excuse, Find a Way! In this episode, Cheddy, Michelle, and Luke discuss: Dreams that require sacrifices Responding to being demoted, fired or let go Holding people accountable How to best help the youth Key takeaways: Your dream will require sacrifices. Sometimes, you'll be given a choice to sacrifice a once-in-a-lifetime moment for a dream you've had your whole life. Which will you prioritize? When let down, fired, or sent off, you have a choice. Remain bitter, or pull yourself together, make a comeback, and decide that being fired would be the best thing they could've done for you. As a leader, hold people accountable for their actions. There must be a point where you can't just let something slide. Give them an opportunity to experience that so they could learn to take ownership of their lives. Be selective, spend time influencing the youth who are serious about their life. At the same time, be stern because life is not going to take it easy on them. “There's many people that want the gift, but they don't want the grind and hustle that goes with it.” - Luke Wright Connect with Luke Wright: Website: http://lukemotivates.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/luke.wright.7524 Twitter: https://twitter.com/LukeMotivates YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChVyUGouLwNa745W8j8Gs1A/ Instagram: http://instagram.com/Luke_Motivates Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g Connect with Cheddy Matthews: Website: www.HEDSpaceCoaching.com Book: www.calendly.com/cheddymatthews Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: CheddySpeaks@gmail.com Twitter: @CheddySpeaks Facebook: @CheddySpeaks YouTube: @CheddySpeaks LinkedIn: www.LinkedIn.com/in/CheddyMatthews Instagram: @CheddySpeaks Connect with Michelle Wickman: Website: www.WickmanWellness.com Book: www.https://lifecoachmichelle.as.me Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: Michelle@wickmanwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickman.michelle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellewickman/ Instagram: @wickman_wellness
In this episode, Cheddy, Michelle, and Detective Kevin Doucette of the New Orleans Police Department discuss: Winning the war in your mind Responsibility and obligation Going beyond your limits Faith that will keep you moving forward Key highlights: On April 21st, 2020, Detective Doucette, a former U.S. Marine, and everyday hero, was shot in the line of duty. More than two years and 14 surgeries later, Detective Kevin Doucette shares his story of resilience, determination, and faith. “It's always darkest before the sun comes up!” Detective Kevin Doucette was cleared for full duty by the New Orleans Police Department. Key takeaways: Sitting alone with your thoughts can be a very terrifying thing, it will put you in a war with yourself. You must shift your focus from negative feelings to healing in order to win inside your mind. Responsibility and obligation can be a heavy burden to carry in life, but they also have the potential to bolster your resolve and empower you to go through everyday life. Everyone has a limit and then there's the space beyond that. Mindset is the key to unlocking and tapping into that space beyond your limits. It takes a lot of faith to continue moving forward. Often it is something that takes over your mind out of nowhere and that is a big blessing in the moment, but you also have the option to instill that faith into your mind intentionally instead of waiting for that feeling. “Regardless of the obstacle that's right in front of you, try to be responsive and not react. You have to develop a game plan, a certain mindframe, this isn't something that happens over night. You have to practice having a strong mind frame… Believe that you can do it, that's half the battle…” - Detective Doucette Click on the link below to go to Detective Doucette's GoFundMe page and show your support: https://gofund.me/356d93a8 Instagram: @kdotd2 Instagram URL: https://www.instagram.com/kdotd2/ Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g Connect with Cheddy Matthews: Website: www.HEDSpaceCoaching.com Book: www.calendly.com/cheddymatthews Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: CheddySpeaks@gmail.com Twitter: @CheddySpeaks Facebook: @CheddySpeaks YouTube: @CheddySpeaks LinkedIn: www.LinkedIn.com/in/CheddyMatthews Instagram: @CheddySpeaks Connect with Michelle Wickman: Website: www.WickmanWellness.com Book: www.https://lifecoachmichelle.as.me Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: Michelle@wickmanwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickman.michelle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellewickman/ Instagram:@wickman_wellness
In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: The conscious and subconscious aspects of self-talk Intentionality and consistency Making positivity a daily habit Thinking positively versus lying to yourself Key takeaways: Self-talk has a conscious and subconscious aspect to it, and it is often grounded in your belief about yourself. Managing your inner conversation makes the difference between taking control of your own mind and letting your beliefs control you. You've probably said a lot of things to yourself that still affect you even now. It takes a lot of intentionality and consistency to correct those conversations and it starts by apologizing to yourself for telling yourself those things. Make healthy self-talk and positivity a daily habit. Prepare your vessel - your mind and your body - for the day that you'll face. Life is inherently filled with negativity, so if you don't intentionally put yourself in that headspace, you're gonna fall into that default state. There's a big difference between giving yourself positive self-talk and manipulating yourself to believe in something you don't really think is real. See the positive things about reality, but authentically recognize that negative circumstances are part of that reality. “Our inner critic is often there to protect ourselves, but what's happening is that it's really holding us back from the unlimited potential that we possess as human beings… What you can do to alter the reality of your life is with your self-talk.” - Michelle Wickman Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g Connect with Cheddy Matthews: Website: www.HEDSpaceCoaching.com Book: www.calendly.com/cheddymatthews Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: CheddySpeaks@gmail.com Twitter: @CheddySpeaks Facebook: @CheddySpeaks YouTube: @CheddySpeaks LinkedIn: www.LinkedIn.com/in/CheddyMatthews Instagram: @CheddySpeaks Connect with Michelle Wickman: Website: www.WickmanWellness.com Book: www.https://lifecoachmichelle.as.me Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: Michelle@wickmanwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickman.michelle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellewickman/ Instagram:@wickman_wellness
In this episode, Cheddy and Michelle discuss: What is your identity? Doing and being are different Using “I am” statements correctly Building a strong identity Key takeaways: Your identity is what makes you unique, in relation to the other people around you. It makes you separate from and at the same time connected to the people around you. Doing and being are two different things. Don't let your identity be wrapped into what you do because when you lose that, you'll experience identity loss and it can be quite traumatic. Be careful of the “I am” statements that you say, even in jest. They could easily become a part of your identity and end up attaching themselves to your identity. Ground yourself in a strong and stable foundation of identity. Don't let social media, past trauma, or what you do be the core of your identity. “Be, have and do. You have to know who you are… when I say have, the traits that you possess - know what they are. And then you go into the ‘do'. Instead of associating your identity to what you do…” - Cheddy Matthews Website: www.WinningInside.io Twitter: @winning_inside Facebook: @WinningInside LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/winninginside YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoF6Rtked9jTNVdaVmARl6g Connect with Cheddy Matthews: Website: www.HEDSpaceCoaching.com Book: www.calendly.com/cheddymatthews Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: CheddySpeaks@gmail.com Twitter: @CheddySpeaks Facebook: @CheddySpeaks YouTube: @CheddySpeaks LinkedIn: www.LinkedIn.com/in/CheddyMatthews Instagram: @CheddySpeaks Connect with Michelle Wickman: Website: www.WickmanWellness.com Book: www.https://lifecoachmichelle.as.me Show: www.WinningInside.io Email: Michelle@wickmanwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickman.michelle LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellewickman/ Instagram: @wickman_wellness
