Năm nay đã 65 tuổi, Astérix và Obélix khiến nhiều người ghen tị, không thêm nếp nhăn, vẫn tràn năng lượng và hài hước như ban đầu. Thành công của người hùng xứ Gaule có lẽ nhờ vào ý đồ ngay từ đầu của tác giả René Goscinny : Astérix không được đẹp trai như hình tượng anh hùng lúc bấy giờ để được tự do châm biếm mà không bị chỉ trích. Astérix nổi tiếng xuyên suốt nhiều thế hệ vì sự hài hước tinh tế. Khó mà kìm được tiếng cười trước cách chơi chữ, những lời thoại và tình huống hài hước. Mỗi nhân vật là một cá tính riêng - bên cạnh một Astérix mưu trí và thông minh là một Obélix võ biền và ngây thơ - khiến câu chuyện thêm đa dạng và phong phú. Mỗi tập Astérix là một chuyến du hành trong không gian và thời gian. Dù bối cảnh là xứ Gaule cổ đại, nhưng các cuộc phiêu lưu của Astérix vẫn có ý nghĩa trong xã hội đương đại, như cuộc kháng chiến chống quân xâm lược La Mã có thể được hiểu là biểu tượng cho cuộc đấu tranh giành độc lập, tự do đặc biệt vào thời điểm Astérix ra đời.Anh hùng GauloisAstérix xuất hiện vào tháng 09/1959 khi tác giả René Goscinny và họa sĩ Albert Uderzo muốn tìm một câu chuyện đậm chất Pháp, độc đáo và dân dã cho tạp chí Pilote vừa được họ thành lập. Và họ nảy ra ý tưởng nói về người Gaulois, tổ tiên của người Pháp, theo giải thích của tác giả René Goscinny :“Lạ là ở Pháp, người ta quên mất người Gaulois. Chúng tôi nghĩ đến họ và thấy may mắn là đã nảy ra ý tưởng rất đơn giản, đơn giản đến mức tôi nghĩ không còn ai nghĩ tới nữa. Chúng tôi giống như người Mỹ khám phá lại miền Viễn Tây, chúng tôi đã tìm ra miền Viễn Tây của mình, đó là người Gaulois (…) Người Gaulois là những người cực kỳ năng động. Khi họ không đánh ai, họ ăn rất nhiều, uống cũng rất nhiều và chỉ sợ một điều, đó là trời sập. Người Gaulois cũng là bài lịch sử đầu tiên chúng ta học trên lớp, ai cũng biết người Gaulois. Đơn giản là tôi muốn đưa chút hài hước vào điều vẫn được xử lý rất nghiêm túc. Sự hài hước luôn có tác động mạnh hơn”.Sự hài hước khó có thể ăn nhập với một nhân vật chính là anh hùng đẹp trai, thân thiện. Dưới bút vẽ của họa sĩ minh họa Albert Uderzo, Astérix đầu tiên không như hình hài hiện nay, theo thổ lộ của ông trong chương trình Samedi-Jeunesse năm 1968 của đài RTS Thụy Sĩ : “Astérix lúc đầu cao lớn, giống Vercingétorix nhiều hơn (1). Nhưng hình dáng bây giờ hoàn toàn khác. Có lẽ tôi không cảm nhận được như Goscinny. Ông ấy nghĩ ngay đến một người thấp bé, hay càu nhàu, luôn sẵn sàng đánh nhau. Sau khi trao đổi với nhau, tôi sửa lại bản vẽ và rút kích thước của Astérix xuống còn một nửa”.Goscinny dí dỏm giải thích ý đồ đằng sau hình ảnh một Astérix thấp bé, mũi to, nhưng lại thân thiện dễ thương. Sự hài hước cũng được cài trong tên của các nhân vật trong Astérix :“Chúng tôi nghĩ đến việc tạo ra một anh hùng thậm chí không đẹp trai bằng chúng tôi, nên phần nào chúng tôi hài lòng. Hơn nữa, chúng tôi có thể khiến nhân vật đó hài hước hơn, bởi vì khi anh hùng quá đẹp trai, những người không đẹp trai bằng sẽ ghen tị. Tôi vẫn ghen tị một chút với tất cả mọi người. Vì thế, khi tôi nhìn nhân vật của mình, tôi đọc thấy vui. (...)Chúng tôi lấy cảm hứng từ tên Vercingétorix. Tất cả các tên đều kết thúc bằng “ix”, như Ambiorix... Ý tưởng đến rất nhanh và chúng tôi hào hứng bắt tay vào sáng tác nhân vật. Astérix, Obélix, rồi đến Assurancetourix, Panoramix… Sau đó gần như thành trào lưu. Có nghĩa là khi người ta gọi điện cho chúng tôi, họ yêu cầu được nói chuyện với ông “Uderzix” hoặc ông “Goscinix””.Thất bại là mẹ thành côngRené Goscinny (14/08/1926 - 05/11/1977) khởi nghiệp là họa sĩ minh họa cho một hãng quảng cáo ở Mỹ ở Buenos Aires sau khi tốt nghiệp trường Pháp, vì ông di cư cùng gia đình đến Achentina. Năm 1952, ông tham gia sáng lập và điều hành tạp chí Mad ở New York dành cho thị trường và khán giả Mỹ của đài truyền hình Bỉ TV Family. Sau 14 số (14 tuần), chương trình đành bỏ cuộc. Trong buổi phỏng vấn với Toutatis năm 1966 trên đài truyền hình Bỉ RTBF, René Goscinny nhớ lại khoảng thời gian “đau khổ”, trong tòa soạn vắng lặng, “tôi đã khóc trước một tờ báo đã chết (…) Tôi có cả một nghĩa trang nhỏ chôn những tờ báo đã chết của mình”.Goscinny còn sáng tác và vẽ Thuyền trưởng Bibobu (Le capitaine Bibobu) và Dick Dicks, nhưng cũng đã dừng, dù ông thấy “không tồi”. Viết kịch bản có lẽ phù hợp với ông hơn:“Viết kịch bản là một nghề ít được biết đến, đặc biệt là ở châu Âu (thập niên 1960-1970). Không có trường dạy viết kịch bản, không có chương trình đào tạo chính thức để trở thành người viết kịch bản truyện tranh. Tôi bắt đầu là một nhà thiết kế, tôi vẽ truyện tranh. Tôi không phải là một nhà thiết kế giỏi và tôi thấy công việc này rất vất vả, nhất là vì tôi minh họa kịch bản của chính mình và chúng rất khó minh họa. Cho nên phải điên mới minh họa được các kịch bản của tôi”.Tuy nhiên, cho mỗi ý tưởng, ông đều tìm được một họa sĩ “tâm đầu ý hợp” để minh họa, như những cuộc phiêu lưu của Astérix : “Một tập Astérix được viết như sau. Trước tiên chúng tôi ngồi lại với nhau, tìm ý tưởng ban đầu về cuộc phiêu lưu. Sau khi đã nhất trí thì chúng tôi phải tìm tài liệu, bởi vì phải tìm hiểu rất nhiều. Uderzo vẽ, tôi viết lời thoại. Tôi viết tóm tắt một cách chi tiết nhất rồi đưa cho Uderzo xem. Chúng tôi thảo luận xem có đồng ý với nhau không. Từ đó tôi cắt từng cảnh giống như kịch bản điện ảnh. Còn Uderzo minh họa những cảnh đó bằng tài năng hiếm có và quen thuộc của ông ấy”.Astérix hay Lucky Luck - một sáng tác nổi tiếng khác của Goscinny, đều có ẩu đả, đánh nhau, hoặc đấu súng (trong Lucky Luck), nhưng lại có rất ít người chết. Đây cũng là chủ đích của tác giả : “Tôi cố tình làm như vậy, vì tôi lên án bạo lực và vì bản thân tôi cực kỳ nhát. Nhưng thực ra, chính ủy ban giám sát báo chí thanh niên buộc chúng tôi phải hết sức cẩn thận. Đó là lý do tại sao trong Lucky Luke, có đấu súng rất nhiều, nhưng không bao giờ có người bị thương, thậm chí chẳng ai bị thương vì đạn cả”.Trong suốt 65 năm, tính cách của nhân vật chính Astérix vẫn còn giá trị cho tới nay. Tuy nhỏ bé nhưng Astérix dũng cảm và dùng mưu trí để phá vỡ kế hoạch của kẻ thù, kể cả đội quân La Mã - khác với những anh hùng luôn dùng đến sức mạnh. Astérix luôn cổ vũ đồng đội thể hiện tự tin, dũng cảm trước kẻ xâm lược. Chiến lược gia thông minh còn là một thủ lĩnh kín tiếng, khiêm nhường, nhưng cũng là một người bạn chân thành, nhất là với Obélix, nhân vật được họa sĩ Uderzo rất thích vì có những nhược điểm của một người bình thường : lo âu, bực dọc… thay vì mang những ưu điểm của một anh hùng. Astérix đến Việt NamAstérix và đồng đội đến Việt Nam từ thập niên 1990. Tập đầu tiên Astérix Người Gaulois được Nhà xuất bản Kim Đồng dịch và phát hành ngày 30/11/1997. Để kỉ niệm 20 năm phát hành ở Việt Nam, NXB Kim Đồng và Viện Pháp tại Hà Nội đồng tổ chức triển lãm về Chuyến đi vòng quanh xứ Gaule của Astérix (Tour de Gaule d'Astérix, tập 5). Astérix lại làm người hùng trong suốt năm 2024 vì tròn 65 tuổi và nhân dịp Pháp tổ chức ngày hội thể thao thế giới Olympic và Paralympic. Tại Việt Nam, NXB Kim Đồng và Viện Pháp tổ chức cuộc thi vẽ tranh và tạo lời Astérix chơi thể thao cùng các bạn trẻ Việt Nam song song với hoạt động ra mắt tác phẩm Astérix ở Thế vận hội (Astérix aux Jeux olympiques).Tiếng Việt nằm trong số khoảng 100 thứ tiếng mà Những cuộc phiêu lưu của Astérix được chuyển ngữ với hơn 350 triệu bản được phát hành trên toàn thế giới. Điểm khó khi dịch tập truyện tranh Astérix là phải làm thế nào diễn tả một cách trọn vẹn và tinh tế cách chơi chữ và óc hài hước đặc trưng Pháp, hoặc những sự kiện trong lịch sử Pháp, như vụ tấn công xe bưu điện Lugdunum (thành phố Lyon ngày nay, trong tập 5 Chuyến đi vòng quanh xứ Gaule của Astérix). Thách thức này đã được Goscinny nêu lên trong buổi phỏng vấn trên đài truyền hình Pháp ngày 29/08/1967 : “Đúng là có nhiều vấn đề. Một số điều có thể dịch được, nhưng tiếc là những điểm khó dịch thì vẫn gặp trên toàn thế giới. Ví dụ trong "Vụ xe bưu điện Lugdunum", khi xem bản dịch tiếng Tây Ban Nha, tôi không thích và tôi đề nghị họ thay đổi vì phần dịch không có ý nghĩa, đó là một sự kiện khá là khó dịch, vì ban đầu chuyện được dành cho độc giả Pháp. Tuy nhiên, bên cạnh đó cũng có những bản dịch rất hay, rất xuất sắc, như bản dịch sang tiếng Anh”.65 năm sau, người hâm mộ lại được phiêu lưu với Astérix và những người bạn trong triển lãm nghệ thuật tiếp cận ở Atelier des Lumières (Astérix, le Voyage Immersif, từ ngày 18/10/2024 đến 05/01/2025) và tại bảo tàng sáp Grévin Paris. René Goscinny có thể toại nguyện với mong muốn từ cách đây 65 năm : Được tiếp tục làm lâu nhất có thể công việc tuyệt vời nhất, bạc bẽo nhất, khó khăn nhất trong mọi công việc : Đó là làm cho các bạn cười !(1) Vercingétorix (82-46 TCN), thủ lĩnh và là vua của dân tộc Celte vùng Arvernes (Auvergne ngày nay), người đã đoàn kết các bộ lạc Gaule trong cuộc nổi dậy chống đế chế La Mã trong giai đoạn cuối của chiến tranh xứ Gallia do Julius Caesar khởi xướng.
