Prostate Cancer Foundation CEO Anne Savage joins the BSB to discuss the awareness month for Prostate Cancer with Harness Racing NSW.
It's pretty shocking how many prostate cancers went missing during COVID, especially in Melbourne which experienced the most prolonged lockdown in the world. The data is still being cleaned but it is estimated that up to 3000 men who would have been expected to be diagnosed with prostate cancer over the past 2.5 years, have not yet been diagnosed. It is prostate cancer awareness month in Australia, so a good time to chat with some experts to better understand the issue of the missing cancers. Plus we hear of some worrying examples. Declan and Renu are joined by Alan White, well known patient advocate, Anne Savage, Chief Executive Director of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, and Professor Grant McArthur, Chair of the Victorian COVID Cancer Network, whose group have been looking at this data in real-time since the start of COVID. Grant is also a prostate cancer survivor himself. Also posted on YoutubeLinks:PCFAThe Prostate ZonePeter Mac story on missing diagnosesVCCC Alliance

Episode 71 Contemporary Electronic Dance Music After doing my previous podcast about the vintage roots of electronic dance music, I said to myself, why not an episode featuring some examples of EDM as it stands today? Collected here are sixteen examples from fourteen artists of what I call more extreme electronic dance music sounds. These tracks all share a few characteristics, as outlined in the last episode. These characteristics are the use of electronic sound sources, especially types that are easily programmed and operated in a live situation; music that is beat-driven and generally sparse on lyrics; a heavy reliance on repetition patterns and textures while preserving a spot for the artist to display some solo musicianship. The soloing may in fact come from manipulating various controls and buttons, or it may come from a more overtly inserted musical passage played on a keyboard, all to inject a touch of personal expression to the automation. Here is a selection of tracks from around the globe, showing how EDM has become somewhat culturally agnostic. Playlist Chris & Cosey, “Fantastique” from Muzik Fantastique! Edgar G. Ulmer's Detour - Riding into the Darkness of Noir On this week's episode of WatchThis W/RickRamos I fly solo with a look at The Criterion Edition of Edgar G. Ulmer's Detour (1945). With this B-Movie/Poverty Row production, Ulmer secured his place in the annals of film history. One of the earliest Noirs of record, in 1992 Ulmer's film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". It's a wonderful film and a great introduction to the genre. Take a listen as I discuss this classic starring Tom Neal, in a superb Noir Hero performance, and Anne Savage as the quintessential femme fatale ballbreaker. It's a good time and one which you should enjoy. Take a listen and decide for yourself. Thanks for the continued Love & Support. Questions, Comments, Complaints, & Suggestions can be directed to gondoramos@yahoo.com. Many Thanks.

Anita Anand takes us into the airless world of a couple imprisoned by winter and their stifling relationship, while Greg Santos puts on his detective hat and goes on the trail of the missing half-brother of a Montreal painter. Also discussed: The Poetry Brothel, the dangers of subconscious plagiarism, language kerfuffles. Anita Anand is a writer and translator, and author of the short story collection Swing in the House (Véhicule Press). Greg Santos is the author of Rabbit Punch! The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station
Welcome to the WDW Radio Show - your Walt Disney World Information Station. This is Show #48 for the week of January 6, 2008. I’m your host Lou Mongello and I want to thank you for tuning in once again, and wish you all a very happy new year. We’re going to start off 2008 just as we did in 2007, with Walt Disney World news, and a wild visit to the Walt Disney World Rumor Mill. In addition to talking about some updated rumors, I’m going to take this opportunity to kick off the New Year with some of the very wild rumors I've been hearing about. Will they all come true? Probably not. But it will be fun to talk about them and speculate as to what the future may hold. In my continuing effort to introduce you to not only some of WDW’s hidden treasures, history, trivia, reviews and vacation planning advice, I also want to open your eyes to some of its overlooked experiences. This week, I have something special for you, as my special guest, Dr. Anne Savage from Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Wildlife Tracking Center joins me to talk about the amazing work that is taking place onstage and backstage, and how you can get involved at the park and when you get home. It’s a fascinating look at the amazing conservation and research efforts that Disney undertakes each and every day. I will also answer a number of your emails in our Listener Feedback section this week, and play some of your voicemails at the end of the show. So as always, sit back, relax and enjoy this week’s episode of the WDW Radio Show. You can email the show at lou@wdwradio.com or call the voicemail at 206-202-4WDW (4939). Visit the web site at WDWradio.com. Talk about the show by visiting and posting in the WDW Radio Show message forums at DisneyWorldTrivia.com. Thanks for listening! Be sure to tune in next week!
