Earlier this week, the Cal South team invited our members to discuss U.S.Soccer's announcement that the Birth Year vs. School Year registration debate is officially back on the table. After we first put out a survey to the full membership to gather feedback, we then held a special online town hall meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10th to hear directly what our members had to say about this topic. In this episode of "The Bear & the Ball," you'll hear the voices of the membership (along with Cal South staffers) from that very meeting, as they discuss the pros and cons of both sides of the debate, as well as their concerns and hopes for how this very important subject will potentially play out.

Hershall, the Pod'N Me Christmas festivities are in full swing here! We look forward to the month and started off with a proverbial bang! It didn't take long for our Beloved Deacon to offend a couple of groups of Pod'N Me constituents. We had a conversation bout when and how Christmas decor is legal to be put up. Hersh, the boys seem to be in a very festive mood this year. Deacon Dustin told us about a trick that he uses to light his tree and also get around the well known Old Testament scripture concerning Christmas trees. We talked telephonically (big word for on the phone) to a fan of the show and tried to turn it in to an intervention of sorts. Dink Burbank did a live broadcast from a Christmas parade. We ended with some very good Christmas trivia that included guessing the highest selling toys by volume from the year we were born. Enjoy! Rolly talks about the way the locker room can move against a younger player if there isn't careful monitoring and adjustment by all of those involved. Ferrari just launched its first SUV; Tim and Kyle have strong opinions about this $400,000 “truck.” Our hosts further discuss the 2022 Detroit Auto Show launches including the seventh generation Ford Mustang and the final edition Chrysler 300C with SRT Hemi power. What is a classic car? What is an antique car? Tim and Kyle investigate with input from classic car insurance companies, Autotrader, and our own experience burning countless dollars on old cars. The team also tackles “birth year” cars and our favorites from Kyle (1989) and Tim (1984). Our only rule is that the car must have been available for sale as a new automobile during those birth years; Buick's Reatta, Audi's Sport Quattro, and the Cadillac Eldorado Convertible feature prominently!

What if we allowed ourselves the grace and freedom to slow down during this beautiful time and embrace a birth year? It took 9 months to grow a little human. What if we gave ourselves 9 months to transition into acclimating our baby into life? Elizabeth Santelmann from Sunshine in My Nest joins me to discuss different ways we can embrace a birth year and thrive. As a homeschool mom of 3 boys, she has some great advice to share to help the transition be smooth for mama, baby, and the entire family. Host Martin Tanner corrects an error from his prior podcast, then describes why there was a Jewish community or colony in Egypt when Joseph, Mary and Jesus fled there to escape the wrath of Herod. The Star of Bethlehem was likely a comet, seen and noted in 5 BC. The phrase in Matthew 2:9 the star "stood over" was used exclusively to describe comets in the ancient world. "Jesus" (from the Hebrew) also transliterated "Joshua" or "Yeshua" literally means "YHWH saves". "Christ" (from the Greek) "kristos" is a translation of the Hebrew word "Meshia" or "Messiah" literally means "smeared, or anointed with oil." Jesus was thus "Jehovah who saves, the anointed or chosen Savior." See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Frame 67: A Frame Worthy of the Birth Year of the New Jesus. A week has passed for you, but in the dead film critic arena only seconds have gone by and Me1 and to the same extent Me2 are both at each other's throats trying to seek revenge/prove their worthiness for the controversial Frame 66. This is another scintillating tussle, easily worth the million pounds that the Mes are trying to raise via Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/richardherring/me1-vs-me2-snooker on its own. It sets the player up nicely for the Chris Evans (not that one) trophy which they'll be playing for immediately after this and which will only be available on the new Lord of the Dance Settee DVD which will be available from www.gofasterstripe.com before Christmas. You can listen to/watch the previous three Chris Evans (not that one) trophies by buying the What is Love Anyway? Talking Cock and We're All Going to Die DVDs at www.gofasterstripe.com. (only the first two were filmed). It's another amazing frame that helps cement Me vs Me Snooker as the premier sporting challenge and work of art of the 21st Century.
