This week's meditation is inspired by a song that I adore - "The Healing Room" by Sinead O'Conner. It speaks about the space inside us all where healing is available, where infinite love and compassion resides. It speaks to the inner child, and to the parent within us and to the freedom that lives within when we can connect with our inner Universe... I hope that I have captured the essence of this song and that listening to it will allow you a short cut to finding this inner knowing and peace that resides within.Much loveRosanne xxTo support my work click hereTo get in touch (and tell me your healing songs!) please click hereTo listen to The Healing Room click here (or see linked song on Spotify)

Economist and author Sinead O'Sullivan ruffled some feathers recently with her analysis of Ireland's deficits in infrastructure and services. Her critiques of the State's failure to deliver things that are taken for granted in other similarly wealthy countries sparked debate and drew pushback from figures including former taoiseach Leo Varadkar. On today's Inside Politics podcast she talks to Hugh about how her professional background in designing complex systems made it “ impossible for me not to see” the flaws she identifies in the Irish model. She argues that Ireland lacks strong institutions capable of separating long-term delivery from electoral politics, resulting in costly, short-term fixes. Kate Nash is one of the most interesting artists working in British and Irish music right now. You might know her from 'Foundations', the debut single that went to number one in the UK in 2007, or maybe winning a BRIT Award for Best Female Artist in 2008 or the excellent Netflix TV show GLOW on Netflix about female wrestlers. But the Kate Nash of the last few years is an advocate for artists who kicks against the pricks of the music industry and the world at large. In the last couple of years alone she has given testimony before a UK parliamentary select committee about the economics of touring, losing £26,000 on a European tour leg and covering those losses by selling photos of her arse on OnlyFans. She's travelled around London on a fire engine visiting the offices of Live Nation and Spotify as part of her Butts for Tour Buses campaign. She is a patron of the Music Venue Trust speaking up for grassroots venues. She's been one of the founding members of the Featured Artists Coalition since 2009. She played the Trans Mission show at Wembley. She's been to Leinster House. She also released trans ally anthem 'GERM'. Nash grew up in North Harrow going to Irish dancing at weekends, listening to Christy Moore and the Dubliners at home, spending summers in Ireland. Last month, Nialler9 debuted her cover of Sinead O'Connor's Famine - a song that serves as an introduction to her dual Irish English heritage. So there is a lot to talk to Kate Nash about. When Sinead O'Sullivan created a graph which she believed illustrated the problems in Ireland, she hadn't realised what would happen next. She found herself in the middle of an argument about data with many including Leo Varadkar. It raged over what Ireland did and didn't do well. But did it highlight the real problem in Ireland today? A defensiveness from the establishment which could be seen in a broader context in relation to the protests.Sinead O'Sullivan joins Dion and Joe on today's Free State to talk about what when wrong in Ireland, why the country is like this and how it can be changed.

It was St Patrick's time for the podcast, which meant we get to cover an Irish artist! And we decided this year to look at the debut by one of the island's greatest and most powerful singer-songwriters. One who was unfortunately shunned and dismissed for most of her career until it was too late. It's Sinead O'Connor, "The Lion and the Cobra"!Originally recorded March 16, 2025.

Subsequently, she achieved a BSc Hons in Podiatry and practiced in a private setting for a decade. In 2008, she took the significant step of founding SRC Health. While recuperating in the hospital following the birth of her first child, Sinead O'Donovan, our founder, recognized the need for greater support for new mothers returning to their bustling lives. Leveraging her extensive medical and bio-mechanical expertise, she envisioned a garment that would provide comfort throughout the day while offering the necessary support for herself and other new mothers.Like all transformative ideas, this concept underwent an extended development phase to align with Sinead's original vision. Adjustments were made to the panel design, and in the pursuit of perfection, custom fabrics were created to meet the high standards set by Sinead. After two years of meticulous development and patient trials, the garment finally fulfilled all expectations. In 2008, the SRC Recovery Shorts were introduced, a unique and patented product that has since aided thousands of mothers worldwide in recovering more comfortably and savouring their time with their babies. The SRC Pregnancy range soon followed. SRC health now boasts an extensive range of medical compression garments.www.srchealth.comInstagram: @srchealthLINKS Mentioned75. Adrian Sherwood is known for his work as a producer, and while that term brings to mind those who simply put their often-subtle imprint on the recordings in which they’re involved, Sherwood’s approach is distinctive and heavily informed by the Dub music which he worked to distribute and to play as a DJ in London in the 1970’s. He has brought that sensibility primarily, but not exclusively, to electronic and electronic dance music, as well as many remixes of work by bands ranging from Depeche Mode, Sinead O’Connor, Primal Scream, Coldcut, and Skinny Puppy. His most recent solo record is 2025’s The Collapse of Everything. Sherwood will perform at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN in March of 2026. In this episode, he talks about how songs by Lee Perry, Mark Stewart, and Elvis Presley guided his musical development.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
My second time doing one of these. I have pretty much been into industrial sounds and themes from high school watching Skinny Puppy/Front 242/Front Line Assembly even to the hip hop tune by MC Light and Sinead O' Conner. I never get to venture from dnb and techno often, so this gives me a different way of expressing myself sonically. enjoy

Watch This Episode On YouTubeWith the baritones of Bono and U2 as the soundtrack, the globe-trotting world of Mary Robinson requires an epic film to depict her life, and thankfully, they found the director that can deliver just that in Irish filmmaker Aoife Kelleher.Aoife gave us the brilliant film MRS ROBINSON (2024), still on its festival run. MRS ROBINSON tells the inspirational life story of change-maker Mary Robinson: Ireland's first female President, a pioneering UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the successor of Nelson Mandela as Chair of The Elders. And if all that wasn't enough, check out her film, TESTIMONY (2025), also on the festival circuit. Not sure when Aoife has time to sleep but she found time to talk with me for the podcast, and I'm delighted to share that conversation with you.In this episode, Aoife and I discuss:her biographical statement that she seeks in her work to "tell hidden truths about Ireland and Irishness" -- what does that mean? what is an Irish film?;how did she get involved in filmmaking? "my parents were primary school principals and my dad was a politician so it was like, there were a lot of debates around these kind of themes at the dinner table";her switch from law to filmmaking -- "I'd had this work experience in a legal firm that had put me off the idea of pursuing law";what did she learn from her first documentary ONE MILLION DUBLINERS (2014) that she takes away for her current film?how did she get the opportunity to make MRS ROBINSON (2024), even with pitching against many other companies -- "you really can't stress [enough] how large Mary Robinson looms in Irish society";how she made it clear they weren't creating a puff piece documentary -- "from the earliest points in the pitching process, we made it clear that we would not be doing that, and that was what she wanted, too";how she was able to license U2 and other prominent musicians as part of this film (they were going to play "Fortunate Son" by CCR in a Vietnam scene...I think it worked out better with Bono!);the climate activism portion of the film and how it resonates now versus 30 years ago;how has documentary changed in the last ten years?;what's next for her? TESTIMONY (2025) is also on the festival circuit, which means she has TWO feature films on the circuit right nowAoife's Indie Film Highlight: BLUE ROAD: THE EDNA O'BRIEN STORY (2024) dir. by Sinead O'Shea; A WANT IN HER (2024) dir. by Myrid CartenLinks:MRS ROBINSON (2024) WebsiteFollow Screen Ireland on Instagram For More Info On Irish FilmmakersWatch This Episode On YouTubeSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/first-time-go/exclusive-content

The Music That Made WE volume 5 continues with our first collaboration; this one with Rex Halligan of #ShirtlessHistory to discuss Irish history (1740 to 1930s) as best can be abbreviated with the format. Rex is a sexy historian based in New York, where he also co-produces Fire and Fury Burlesque. He began his Shirtless History series informally (and still only whenever the mood strikes) during the pandemic, covering topics often (but not limited to!) on the topic of emerald isle. We get a crash course in a friendly, concise way, and with tunes that represent the pride and tumultuous times leading just before the Troubles (come back next year for that one; it'll be a doozy). This soundtrack includes mainstays of Irish popular music like Dropkick Murphys, The Pogues, and Seo Linn plus some deeper cuts and takes on traditional melodies. + Stick around for Viktor's hidden bonus track.
