Skylar Schneider started riding bikes at age 4, and by age 18 she moved to Holland to race professionally. Now with three years at the powerhouse squad Boels-Dolmans under her belt, the American is returning to race domestically for 2021 with L39GION of Los Angeles, the expanding team run by Justin and Cory Williams. On this episode of Put Your Socks On, Schneider talks about learning her way in Holland as a teenager with the help of other racers — she now has Dutch residency — and how the opportunity with L39GION of LA came about. "I've admired what Justin and Cory are doing with Legion for a while," she said. "And this summer, Justin and I just got on the phone, and he had some good advice. At that time, Legion didn't really have a women's program. So he really liked the idea. And then we put together a budget. And from there, it moved pretty quickly. And I'm really excited about this opportunity to have a new adventure, but also come back to the U.S." In addition to her own racing, Schneider said L39ION represents a broader opportunity in the sport for others. "With 39ION, there was this new opportunity to do something really special within the sport. Their mission is to increase diversity and inclusivity. There's plenty of little girls that need a role model as well," she said. "Right now it's really small and just kind of starting, but I think it can grow into something really big. And that's ultimately why I was really excited to join." At the junior world championships in 2016, Schneider took silver in the road race and fourth in the time trial. Looking ahead, a win at the world championships remains a goal.

The busy 2020 WorldTour season continues, and this week we have two grand tours and one monument to discuss! Over the weekend the Tour of Flanders was held on empty cobbled streets in Belgium, and both the men's and women's editions produced plenty of drama and action. The men's race saw newcomer Julian Alaphilippe force the day's decisive move with Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert. The stage was set for a three-man battle to the finish, and then Alaphilippe struck a race motorcycle and crashed. We discuss the crash and its impact on the finale, which saw van der Poel win the sprint by inches. Could Alaphilippe have upset the two cobbled crushers in the final 35km? What impact would he have had in the sprint, or on the ascent of the Paterberg? Our resident Alaphilippe expert, James Startt, provides some expert opinion. In the women's race, Boels-Dolmans used its superior team tactics to set Chantal van der Broek-Blaak up for the win. We wonder what could have happened, however, if Anna van der Breggen and Annemiek van Vleuten would have continued their attack, instead of sitting up with 25km to go. Then, the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España are both going strong, and we break down the action from both races. What do we make of Chris Froome's dismal performance on the opening day of the Vuelta? And, is Wilco Kelderman really the favorite to win the Giro now? Finally, we have interviews with American stars at the grand tours. First up is Sepp Kuss, who is leading Jumbo-Visma's domestique ranks at the Vuelta. Sepp discusses the Tour de France finale as well as his Vuelta ambitions with us. Then, we hear from Brandon McNulty, who is racing for GC at the Giro d'Italia. Brandon just scored a third place finish in the Giro's long ITT — an amazing result for a grand tour debutant. Today's episode is brought to you by flobikes.com, your home for live streaming action of the Giro d'Italia for U.S. and Canadian viewers. Podcasti "Pihtas Põhjas" seekordseks külaliseks on (üle Skype`i) Cramo Estonia juhatuse esimees Remo Holsmer. Palju on ära kukkunud toetajaid? Mida korvpalliliit olukorra leevendamiseks teha saab ja teeb? Millised on arengud Kalev/Cramos?

Now she is working up to 60 hours a week in a hospital in Geneva while still training for a return to racing.  Orla Chennaoui, Rose Manley and Richard Moore discuss how coronavirus might affect women's cycling, with races and teams facing a difficult a few months. The riders, too, are coping with the uncertainty in different ways. We hear from Louis Delahaije, who coaches Annemiek van Vleuten and Marianne Vos, about how his charges are training – he tells us that the biggest challenge is not knowing what they are training for.  Finally there is an interview with Molly Weaver, the retired road professional who had hoped to do some gravel races this year. She had hoped to do the Dirty Reiver but in its absence has come up with the Dirty Weaver, which will see her take on 1,111 laps (130km) of her garden in 12 hours to raise money for Women’s Aid. Trek-Segafredo rider discusses parenting, pro cycling and dreams of winning a second world title in Yorkshire   Welcome to the Cyclingnews Podcast Women's Edition, brought to you by Sportful, Pinarello and Floyds of Leadville. In this episode Cyclingnews' women's editor Kirsten Frattini sits down with former world champion and new mom Lizzie Deignan to discuss motherhood, her postpartum return to pro cycling, dreams of winning a second world title at Yorkshire World Championships, and her biggest hopes for the future of women's cycling. Deignan took time away from the sport to give birth to her first child and only recently returned to the peloton with her new team Trek-Segafredo at the Ardennes Classics, Tour de Yorkshire, Tour of California and the OVO Energy Women's Tour, where she won the overall title. At a time when major sport sponsors are pushing promotional content geared toward equality, female athletes such as American Olympians Kara Goucher, Allyson Felix and Alysia Montaño, have exposed American company Nike for its performance-based reductions clause in athlete contracts, and how that affects athletes who want to have a baby. Montaño wrote a detailed opinion piece in The New York Times titled "Nike told me to dream crazy, until I wanted a baby", where she described the company's policy of reducing and cutting salaries after some of its female athletes decided to become pregnant. Female cyclists can relate to this policy as contracts have been cancelled or considered nullified if an athlete becomes pregnant. Hear from Deignan on her decision to start a family while at the peak of her cycling career and why she left long-time team Boels Dolmans. She also speaks about the importance of competing for a team and sponsors that support her cycling career while also being a mother. Deignan also spoke about the UCI's decision to include a maternity clause and other insurances into its standard athlete-team contracts beginning in 2020. But she noted that a similar amendment, in the form of a paternity clause, would be welcomed among the men's peloton as well. We hope you enjoy our discussion with Lizzie Deignan. For Deignan it was her best result since her return to racing after having her baby, and her first visit to the podium, as she accepted the jersey for best British rider. We also hear from Hannah Barnes and her sister Alice, the stage one winner, Jolien D'hoore, and the sports director of the Boels-Dolmans team, Danny Stam.  The Cycling Podcast Féminin is supported by Rapha, Science in Sport and Skoda

The March episode of The Cycling Podcast Féminin, with Orla Chennaoui, Rose Manley and Richard Moore, includes the latest racing news, including the first event of the Women's World Tour, Strade Bianche, won by a resurgent Annemiek van Vleuten. There's an interview with Nicole Hanselmann, the Swiss rider who had to stop when, during her solo escape, she caught the men's field at Het Nieuwsblad. It was a story that made international headlines, but Hanselmann tells us what actually happened. Orla meets Jip van den Bos, the young Dutchwoman who rides for Boels-Dolmans and was the recent winner of Le Samyn des Dames.  And there's a tribute to Kelly Catlin, whose tragic death has shocked the cycling world. The 23-year-old, a world champion and Olympic silver medallist, was an early guest on the podcast. Stage four of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour, into Worcester, was won by the former world champion Amalie Dideriksen, giving her team, Boels-Dolmans, their first win of the race. Coryn Rivera of Team Sunweb kept the leader’s green jersey with only one stage remaining.  Richard Moore, Orla Chennaoui and Rose Manley of The Cycling Podcast Féminin discuss the day’s action and look ahead to the decisive final stage in Wales. There are interviews with current world champion Chantal Blaak, defending champion Kasia Niewiadoma and Audrey Cordon-Ragot, who spent much of the day in the breakaway – and was not at all happy at the finish. Another rider who was unhappy was Dani Rowe, who crashed heavily in the final 3km. She remains the best placed British rider in third, but tells the podcast that she is unsure whether she will be able to start her home stage on Sunday. There’s also a feature in this episode on a delicate subject – the challenge posed to the female riders by the need to answer a call of nature mid-stage.  The Cycling Podcast Féminin is supported by Rapha, Skoda and Science in Sport

Stage two of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour took the riders into Northamptonshire, with the first climbs bringing some of the favourites to the fore. At the finish in Daventry it was Coryn Rivera, the American on Team Sunweb, who narrowly beat Marianne Vos, the Dutchwoman who won the first Women’s Tour in 2014.  The Cycling Podcast Féminin reports from the finish with Richard Moore, Orla Chennaoui and Rose Manley discussing the talking points from the stage. There are interviews with Rivera, a disappointed Vos and her teammate Dani Rowe, the top British rider. We also hear from Danny Stam, who runs Boels-Dolmans, the world’s top team, and Maaike Boogard, the young Dutchwoman who was the day’s breakaway queen.  There was some confusion after stage one when Abi Van Twisk, who rides for Trek-Drops, crashed and left the race in an ambulance. Van Twisk was later declared fit to carry on racing by the doctors and, though heavily bandaged, lined up at the start in Rushden. In the end it proved too much for Van Twisk, who didn’t finish – we hear from her before and after the stage, as well as from the race doctor, Matt Gray.  The Cycling Podcast Féminin is supported by Rapha, Skoda and Science in Sport
