Hello Friends of the Podcast,This podcast is a tribute to my father for Father's Day. This year Father's Day was different for me because I recently lost my father and couldn't call him and wish him a happy Father's Day. I wish that every little girl could experience the relationship I had with my dad. I think I can honestly say he was the only person on this earth that I knew that never made me mad. He was just a good spirit to be around, I love and miss him so much. I hope you all enjoy.... Hello Friends of the Podcast,This podcast was a bit more on the vulnerable side for me. I originally posted it but took it down immediately because I felt that I wasn't ready to share. Infertility is such a sensitive subject for so many women. I played back this podcast a number of times in disbelief of how long infertility was a part of my life. I finally felt that it was appropriate to share bits and pieces of my story in hopesfor someone to feel they aren't going through it alone. Today we have the amazing Natasha Perez who plays the infamous Yolanda Saldivar on the Netflix streamer, Selena. We talk about the role, what her process was to get into it, and how this timely series honors the life and music of an artist who died far to young. We cover this, her musical background and so much more! NATASHA PEREZ who recently appeared opposite Larry David in a guest starring role on Curb Your Enthusiasm (see link below) is available for interviews regarding her role as Yolanda Saldivar in Season 2 of the hit Netflix series SELENA:THE SERIES premiering on May 4th.Perez’s character, Yolanda Saldivar appears in limited capacity in Season 1 and now she solidifies her role as one of the main characters in Season 2. Selena:The Series chronicles the life, career and untimely murder of Tejano singer, Selena in 1995. Her success and rise to stardom was cut short at the hands of Saldivar, an RN and president of Selena’s fan club.Perez realizes the delicate nature of her true life character and her intention in doing interviews is not to glamorize or glorify Saldivar. As an actress she is proud of her work and honesty in portraying this complex character and hopes that this series continues to honor and pay homage to the talented, intelligent and beautiful human being that was Selena. www.brettallanshow.comHave a question, email us below!openmicguest@gmail.comBe sure to follow us on social media for all the latest podcast updates!Twittertwitter.com/@brettallanshowIGinstagram.com/brettallanshowFacebookFacebook.com/brettallanshowwww.brettallanshow.com

Today we have the multi talented actor, comedian and musician Page Kennedy. Most know him from the blockbuster hit "The Meg" but his career spans decades. He can currently be seen on the Netflix streamer, "The Upshaw's" as "Duck", which is a can't miss show. We discuss, this, career and more, on today's episode. Actor/comedian/rap artist, Page Kennedy (The Meg) returns to the screen in Netflix’s new comedy series, The Upshaws, starring opposite Wanda Sykes and Mike Epps. The series premiering May 12, follows an African American family in Indiana that struggles to make it work. Epps portrays the head of the household, Bennie Upshaw while Page portrays Duck, Bennie’s ex-con and newly religious best friend. Duck served a seven year stint in prison after being involved in a heist gone bad — where Bennie got away. Now, he works with a grateful Bennie in his garage and is his biggest cheerleader. When Page isn’t acting he is equally devoted to another passion of his, rap music. His latest and third studio album, “Page”, features production by Grammy award-winning Aftermath producer Focus, Mic West and guest artists Method Man, Elzhi, Xzibit, Ali Caldwell, Lonny Bereal and Chief Wakil. His music filters the global health crisis and socio-political injustices of the last year through the lens of his personal life while celebrating the resilience of Black and Brown people during these recently trying times as he looks towards the future. The striking album cover for “PAGE” is a portrait of the artist made from a collage of pictures of people who have died at the hands of police brutality.Page is well known for his starring role in Warner Bros summer blockbuster, The Meg, opposite Jason Statham. He is also best known for portraying Radon Randell in the Spike sports comedy series, Blue Mountain State, and U-Turn in the Showtime series, Weeds. He landed his first role as Roger on CBS's The Kennedys by sneaking into Sony's studios as a messenger and delivered his headshot and resume. He also portrayed Alfre Woodard’s son on Desperate Housewives. www.brettallanshow.comHave a question, email us below!openmicguest@gmail.comBe sure to follow us on social media for all the latest podcast updates!Twittertwitter.com/@brettsopenmicIGinstagram.com/brettsopenmicFacebookFacebook.com/openmicpodcastwww.brettallanshow.com
Our guest today is actor and director Christine Lakin, Most would remember her from TGI FRIDAY's "Step By Step" as Al Lambert. She and her co-stars ruled Friday nights with this fun filled family show. But since then she has not stopped. From "The Goldbergs" on ABC, to a million other shows, she has had her hand in it all, also ruling motherhood, podcasting and more. We get into all of that, if she would do anything differently, balancing life and career and much more! Her bio explains it all the best! Taken from her amazing website! You’d probably best remember me from a 90’s TV show called “Step By Step” (yep, I was that tomboy Al in the backwards hat) but more recently I produced and starred on the comedy “Hollywood Darlings” alongside my childhood friends Beverley Mitchell (“7th Heaven”) and Jodie Sweetin (“Full-er House”) for the Pop Network. If you love “Family Guy” you’d know my voice as Joyce Kinney. If you’re a gamer, I’m Peebee in “Mass Effect, Andromeda”. If you listen to podcasts, I have my own! It’s called Worst Ever Podcast, where my co-host Alaa and I talk to all kinds of celebrities about their worst ever moments in life. It’s good times. (And might just make you feel better about your own worst moments)I love my work but it is a constant hustle and why I’m seriously juggling multiple careers while trying to balance home life. I’m sure a lot of you can relate. My blog is an outlet to share some of my passions like cooking and travel but also just start a conversation with you guys about some of the struggles trying to “have it all” entails.I’m so grateful for my family and the time I’m able to spend raising my daughter Georgia. But momm-ing is hard and sometimes I just ask myself if 4pm is too early for a glass of rose. (anyone with me here?) I’m fairly irreverent and may use a curse word here or there so try to not get too offended. Thanks for sharing and reading and I hope I can make you laugh now and again too.www.brettallanshow.comHave a question, email us below!openmicguest@gmail.comBe sure to follow us on social media for all the latest podcast updates!Twittertwitter.com/@brettsopenmicIGinstagram.com/brettsopenmicFacebookFacebook.com/openmicpodcastwww.brettallanshow.com

I have had the privilege of being a mother for almost 26 years. During my time as a mother, I have adopted six children, had two failed adoptions, birthed two children, gained two children through marriage, and said goodbye to one of my children (as we lost him to Leukemia on May 16, 2020). Parenting has had many highs and lows over the years and I definitely have mad some mistakes. As I thought about what I wanted to share with you, I came up with five things I felt were most important on this parenting journey. What happened in your childhood will impact what happens in your child’s childhood.Lightheartedness over lectures.Everyday moments are greater than grand gestures.Feelings Matter – Honor their feelings. They are watching.I definitely don’t have all of the answers when it comes to parenting, but I do love my babies more than anything and now that I have sent one to Heaven, I believe now more than ever these five things matter. I hope you have a fabulous Mother’s Day and feel the love from your family!Lesli and I are here if you need us. You can contact us at kathy@thehomegrownpreschooler.com or lesli@thehomegrownpreschooler.comHave a great week! Lesli will be back next week with Part 3 of her conference talk.

“We have a lot of systemic ideas and belief systems that are just part of the cauldron in which most of us were raised; so we don’t even realize it’s a belief system, we just think it’s fact....challenge everything you think you know about sex”Oh boy were we excited for this one! A topic we realized we haven’t spoken too much about on our podcast yet and promise to do more of is talk about SEX. Whether that is sex with a partner or solo, we talk about it all in this episode. We were so thrilled to welcome Dr. Kate Balestrieri, a Psychologist and Sex Therapist who has seen so much while treating patients during incarceration, through addiction, traumatic sexual experiences, living out fantasies/desires, and introducing new things into the bedroom. We had so many questions in this episode: What is a healthy sex life? What if two people have different sex drives in a relationship? Is achieving orgasm what it’s all about during sex? Is watching pornography healthy? How do you talk to your kids about sex? We ask Dr. Kate all of these questions and more!! Thanks for tuning in to Siri's Bed Head Chronicles. Your gonna love this. Basically our inner gremlin is our inner judge, our inner critic. And we are far harsher with ourselves than we would ever be with another human being, even if we really disliked them. Now, the thing is that this inner gremlin came when we were kids and it would listen to what authority figures were saying is, is right or what's wrong, or what you have to do to please people, what you have, what you do, if you displease people, what it's going to take to fit in.And it's that voice that's always telling you, you know, this isn't enough. Or, you know, you're not enough. You've got to do this. You got to do that then your critic and your judge. But the problem is that we are now we have way outgrown that gremlin that was there to protect us when we're kids, but we're not kids anymore. We now have our own beliefs. We now have our own opinions on things. We now have our own ways of doing things, but that voice still creeps in. And it's a habitual way of thinking. It takes over our minds sometimes and reminds us of all the times that we've failed or reminding us of why we should doubt ourselves or reminding ourselves of why we're not enough. And it's not a nice voice, but who doesn't have an inner gremlin. For more information about Siri visit https://sirilindley.comHave an amazing day, Siri
