Doula's are magical for your mental health as an expecting parent. We had the opportunity to talk with Sarah from ElderFlower Doula on the benefits of hiring a Doula for your pre-pregnancy to postpartum and everything in between. There are so many types of Doulas out there (which we had no idea about prior to this episode), and finding the right one is super important. Sarah teaches us what to look for when finding the right Doula for you and the different things they can be trained to help with during your journey to parenthood. She's kindly supplied us with a group of links to more information on how to find (AND BECOME!!) a Doula! We caught up with ALLLL THE DRAMMMA from Love Island and the Bachelorette. **Major spoilers in this episode if you aren't caught up**. First we discussed a period mishap that is probably all too common (but most definitely shouldn't be - BE CAREUL OUT THERE). We talked about why we chose to take a mental health intermission and why you should too!Back to business: We talked about Katie's choice on how she closed out the season as well as her Aunt Lindsey and the toxic femininity she portrayed. We tried to figure out how exactly people find love on reality tv; why it may or may not work out and the pressures put on the contestants to either win the money or win the partner.Question for our listeners: Do you want to see more of us on our social media? The past year and a half has been a lot for everyone. The social changes forced upon us by the pandemic has really made us rethink our social interactions, relationships and how we live our lives in general. We're not sure here; are we going to all be boring forever? Does it take a lot of time to rebuild up the energy to spend time with other people? Now, as covid hopefully begins to come to a close, how do we begin to fill our social tank. With restrictions up in the air, how do you plan events…gatherings…travel and will we forever be scared to be around people who are sick? Feeling like an introvert after the pandemic? Kelly is too and we tried to give some suggestions to ease our way back into our social lives.DM us on instagram or email us to order YOUR “social tank” today :)Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? We start this episode off talking about Starbucks drink hacks. If you hate Starbucks plz fast forward to 5:37 LOL.Real talk: breakups. They are hard, sometimes ugly, sometimes freeing and almost always a back and forth conversation within yourself if it's the right thing to do. So far, Brittany has managed to avoid this part of her life altogether, leaving Kelly to talk about all of the relationships that have ended in her life. Leave it to Brittany though, to have the best advice! We talk about how, why and when people may breakup, tools to use when being the breakupER vs the breakupEE and how to continue to love yourself through what some people think is a “failed” relationship. We also touch on unhealthy relationship habits, why people may choose to stay in relationships and the confusion around timeline ultimatums.Tiktok: Starbucks drinks - https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMdt7fBhG/Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? Welcome baby Blake. Our co-host Kelly welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world on May 17th - under very awful circumstances. Kelly was diagnosed with gestational diabetes as well as hypertension in her third trimester of pregnancy and it was all downhill from there. After an insane and eventful week in the hospital (with multiple medical diagnoses, tests and pain) Blake was safely born via emergency c-section. What could go wrong did go wrong, and this episode tells the events that happened during the best and worst week of her life. The complications didn't stop there which led Kelly and her husband to have a baby in the NICU and further health concerns for her. From pumping & breastfeeding to feelings of guilt, it's all in this episode. Stay tuned for part two in the coming months to hear more about Blake's NICU stay.Donating to BC Women's Milk Bank: http://www.bcwomens.ca/our-services/labour-birth-post-birth-care/milk-bank/donating-milkFollow Kilig Candle Co: https://www.instagram.com/kiligcandleco/Postpartum Instagram Accounts:https://www.instagram.com/the.vagina.whisperer/https://www.instagram.com/momfreely/https://www.instagram.com/happyasamother/https://www.instagram.com/psychedmommy/https://www.instagram.com/postpartum/*the medical information in this episode should not replace the advice of a medical doctor. “Somedays are worse mentally, some are worse physically and some emotionally. It's all about being able to tell yourself: it's ok if you're having a shitty day”In this episode we welcome Alisha, who was diagnosed with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis at the young age of 24. Since the diagnosis, her life has changed A LOT. Alisha bravely spoke about what MS is, how if affects her life, her mental health, what treatments she has undergone and the side effects that may come with them. What happens when medical interventions don't work? What happens when you relapse? How do you carry on living a “normal” adult life while dealing with an often debilitating disease. SPOILER: get you some friends like Alisha. If one thing is apparent in this episode, it's that having a village of support can really lift you up when you're struggling and be the shoulder(s) to lean on when it's just not your day, week or month. Alisha has some fantastic advice for anyone going through changes in their life and how to accept/deal with unsolicited advice from others. What is so incredible about Alisha is that she took something that could have brought her down - and almost did - and made it into something so yummy. This episode is all about finding your passion in life and doing it surrounded by the people you love - even in the face of adversity.Thank you Alisha for showing us and our listeners what it truly means to live.To support Alisha's fudge journey, follow their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/baekerella.co/Purchase Alisha's book*: https://amzn.to/3vSq9nx*affiliate linkHave a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? Meet Nicole, our next guest in the pregnancy complications portion of our birth stories series. If you're still reeling from Pinky's episode, we have news - THERE'S MORE! Nicole had a relatively “easy” pregnancy. She had a birth plan in place and felt as prepared for labour as one could be…until she wasn't. After educating herself by taking part in birthing classes, she felt like she had the knowledge to make quick decisions during her labour and delivery. We cover topics like: stretch and sweeps, meconium, forceps, having a baby in the NICU, lactation consultants, lip & tongue ties and dilation and curettage (D&C procedure). Nicole provided us with so much information in this episode that we hope can help you or a loved one. Meet Pinky, a new mom to baby Isla and an absolute rockstar. Pregnancy, labour and being a new parent is NOT easy, as we've so clearly seen with all of our birth story series episodes. In Pinky's episode we dive deep into hers (and Kelly's) experience with gestational diabetes and how it can affect your mental health and everyday life. We cover Pinky's diagnosis of cholestasis, a liver condition, and the fight we unfortunately have to fight when it comes to advocating for ourselves medically, and listening to our gut when we feel like something isn't right. Pinky took her health into her own hands after being diagnosed earlier in life with major depressive disorder as well as having a physical disability in order to make sure she was all set emotionally, physically and mentally before getting pregnant. All of that did not prevent pregnancy from being an absolute roller coaster of emotions and complications. We were full of questions for Pinky, especially with the pandemic going on…SO get comfy and buckle up for this ride.Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? If you’re superstitious and you know it clap your hands! *clap clap* In this episode we sat down to discuss all things superstition: the actual definition, what some of ours are and the reality that even things we didn’t think of as technically being superstitious might actually be. We think superstitions can be fear based, routine based or even spiritual or religiously/traditionally based, and all of them are discussed in this episode. Some definitely seem outrageous at times and some completely practical. Jinxing, deja-vu, psychic thoughts…are they all connected? Can we turn off our superstitious thoughts? How are they even started? Do they serve a purpose and can they affect our mental health? What are your superstitions? Arguing, disagreeing, fighting…we all do it, but WHY!? What makes you angry? What rubs you the wrong way? As we covered in episode 38 with relationship expert, Dre Smith, fighting in any kind of relationship is inevitable - but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Today, we talked about the reasons we fight, ways we try to avoid it and even some unhealthy habits we are working on changing. So if it’s going to happen, how do we make it more productive and effective? How can you not get heated so the conversation goes smoothly? We take you through some of our common disagreements with our partners, how we handle them and what tools we use to get through them. Some pretty powerful conclusions were made during this episode and we hope you can all take a deep breath knowing you aren’t alone.Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? “We have a lot of systemic ideas and belief systems that are just part of the cauldron in which most of us were raised; so we don’t even realize it’s a belief system, we just think it’s fact....challenge everything you think you know about sex”Oh boy were we excited for this one! A topic we realized we haven’t spoken too much about on our podcast yet and promise to do more of is talk about SEX. Whether that is sex with a partner or solo, we talk about it all in this episode. We were so thrilled to welcome Dr. Kate Balestrieri, a Psychologist and Sex Therapist who has seen so much while treating patients during incarceration, through addiction, traumatic sexual experiences, living out fantasies/desires, and introducing new things into the bedroom. We had so many questions in this episode: What is a healthy sex life? What if two people have different sex drives in a relationship? Is achieving orgasm what it’s all about during sex? Is watching pornography healthy? How do you talk to your kids about sex? We ask Dr. Kate all of these questions and more!! We are checking in from our New Years Resolution episode on the goals we set for ourselves - as we said we would! We gave ourselves some grace here and talked about what worked and what didn’t. We created new plans for the near future and reformulated past goals that didn’t work for us. Working out, career motivation/being adaptable and being more patient are just some of what we covered here. Brittany talks about how she’s had to make changes to her work/life balance while being adaptable to the ever changing social media platforms. We have a question for YOU: Why is making and sticking to a routine so hard? Are you this way too? We talk about the struggles of simple tasks (or big ones) feeling daunting, and how difficult it is to stick to a schedule. Is there something wrong with us?! Kelly also talks about the fear that is creeping in on becoming a parent and entering into the unknown. We both discuss the process in which you go through when deciding whether or not to have kids and when (and if) you know that you’re ready.Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? Kelly’s mom is on the podcast today! Her story is what we hope is truly unusual because it is quite traumatic. Linda takes us through her birth story; where a hospital team’s mistake cost her multiple reconstructive surgeries, lots of pain, and a lengthy recovery. During pregnancy and labour, trust your instincts because this is a story of how an unplanned epidural saved her from what would have been the pain of a lifetime. We talk seriously about the sacrifices women make to carry, birth and parent their children, sex after birth, and a mother’s unconditional love for their babies. There really isn’t a sure fire way to prepare yourself fully for the birthing process but Linda definitely has the right mindset and outlook on being a mom and going through the ringer. We are back with the birth stories series and welcome Lauren who has a crazy story about living and giving birth in Saipan. Where is that you ask? It’s a very small island (however the biggest of the Northern Marianas) near Guam and giving birth there meant her access to an epidural during birth was NOT available unless she was having a c-section - she wasn’t. She spoke about the struggles of a natural birth, dealing with multiple typhoons wiping out her homes (!!!) and wanting her daughter to feel connected to this beautiful island. A photographer by day and a badass mom by night (more like 24/7), she opened up about what it was like giving birth with no family (aside from her husband) and only a couple of friends on the island. Lauren suffers from depression and was determined to learn about PPD as much as she could before birth to try and be as prepared as possible. She shared how she worked through that and why she didn’t announce her pregnancy on social media. How has it already been a whole year?! We are so grateful for each and everyone one of our listeners and guests for being on this journey with us. We’ve learned so much this past year and we couldn’t have done it without all of you - and each other! Not only is it our birthday but it’s also our 50th episode (woooooow). Episode 50 is jam packed with things that will hopefully make you laugh, like Kelly’s embarrassing underwear story, getting ID’d, celebrating birthdays and the potential disappointment that may occur. On that topic, Kelly goes over her baby shower plans and how covid has affected the process and her feelings toward it all. We touch on baby shower gift etiquette and how to give the perfect gift and we end the episode off by discussing deleting old photos of your ex after a breakup. Let us know what you think! *MAJOR TRIGGER WARNING*Today’s episode is about chlldhood sexual assault. We welcomed survivor, Lauren, to share her story about the assault she endured at the hands of her father. The abuse started at a very young age, continuing until the age of 14 when she bravely came forward to put an end to the abuse. She talks about her journey through the court process, the breaking up of her family unit and the ferocious need to protect her little sister. Lauren talks about what drove her to decide to disclose what she was going through to her mother. We chat about how to be the receiver of this information and what you can do to support that person. This story is so raw, real, heartbreaking and empowering to hear. We want all listeners to appreciate all the advice Lauren has to give whether that’s to other victims and survivors or those who may know someone going through it. We discuss the different resources available and the signs you may see in someone going through abuse. Lauren’s outlook on life is remarkable and we can all take a page out of her book. We learned so much from her and we hope you can too. So body language: how does it work? How do you interpret it? How do you FIX it if you don’t project proper body language in appropriate situations? These are all questions we had in this episode. We aren’t experts but we went through these questions and tried to make sense of it. Kelly has been told many times that she is intimidating and she attributes part of that to her body language. When put into social or uncomfortable situations her reaction is to retreat inwards and that comes off as being mean, bitchy or standoffish which is not her intention at all. Is body language a reflection of your true feelings? The battle between what’s in your head being reflected by your body vs how you actually want to be seen is something that a lot of people struggle with and maybe we need to be a little more kind when getting to know people; some may need a bit more time to warm up. Other people, like Brittany, are bubbly and approachable and people feel that she is available to talk but sometimes finds herself in a situation where she doesn’t want to talk to someone and purposely using her body language to show how she is feeling doesn’t work. The contrast is crazy but the suffering is the same. Patience and communication is key. ARE YOU THESE PEOPLE? If so, you are not alone. We don’t know the psychology behind body language interpretation but what we do know is that it’s complicated.Another topic discussed was our emotional reaction to certain things. We talk about if emotional desensitization is a strategy to help your mental health or turn the problem into avoidance and eventually a no-care mentality. Is it better to attack a problem head on or suppress your emotions on the topic because you don’t want to argue about it? Listen in for some of our personal experiences, what we’ve learned and how we’ve grown or plan to be better.Observe's Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzMvqwt21xqm7Fg5Uo3lsRQHave a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? Today, we live in a world run by social media. The amount of health related news that is pushed into our view EVERYDAY makes it hard to know what is really beneficial for us and what could be classified as a trend. Thankfully, we found Liz, who is a Holistic Wellness Coach here to let us know about the mind-body connection and how it relates to our gut health. Are we doing everything we can to ensure our body is in working order? Do you have digestive issues that you have chalked up as “normal” and feel there is nothing you can do to improve it? Liz shared so much good information about how we can treat our body well and increase its function along with some awesome tips and tricks for treating yourself naturally. What’s safe and recommended? What’s true or what’s simply being endorsed for money? Who do we listen to?In this episode, we talked a lot about IBS and how even if you’re not diagnosed with the syndrome itself, there are still things you can do to help regulate your digestive system. We all have stress in our lives which can impact our whole body immensely. We touch on what happens when your body is in a state of inflammation and what to do to remove the inflammation without the use of drugs. Kelly also picked Liz’s brain about how all of this information differs if you are pregnant and having digestive issues, too. We all poop, why not talk about it?Follow Liz on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bylizshaw/Recommended Kombucha:- Bucha Brew: https://www.buchabrew.ca/- Culture Craft: https://www.culturecraftkombucha.com/Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? You’re glowing. Pregnancy looks great on you. You can barely tell you’re pregnant. These are all "compliments" you may get while growing a human inside of you but it’s not always peaches and cream when going through the different stages of pregnancy. We are HERE to discuss the not-so-pretty symptoms of pregnancy. From working out during pregnancy and sex, to food aversions and changing nipples. Kelly found that people often talked only about their joys of pregnancy (and there are LOTS) but people wouldn’t always elaborate on what might be a negative side effect. The topics in this episode are not limited to everything that was experienced but is a start of what to prepare for. Don’t be afraid to talk about these things ladies, especially to your partners. Don’t ever feel like you’re being too much, or asking too many questions. If we could give one piece of advice, it would be to try your best not to compare your pregnancy, and what you choose to do, to others’ pregnancies because they are all so different. For everyone else, PLEASE keep your opinions about a woman’s body and child-rearing practices to yourself - it can be really harmful when trying to raise a child with so much unsolicited outside input. Let's form the village it takes to raise our kids and try to be less judgmental and pushy on the things you feel is right. There are SO many ways to raise a successful person. Find a healthcare provider of your choice that you feel supported by and comfortable to approach with anything your pregnancy brings on for you. An ode to frontline workers around the world. We sat down (virtually) with podcast listener and friend, Meghan who is a nurse on the COVID unit at the hospital she works at. We wanted to take this opportunity to find out what a day in the life looks like for her and how she manages her anxiety during this time. We are so thankful for every single worker who has stepped up and put themselves on the frontline during this pandemic. Whether you are a truck driver, post office worker, grocery store attendant, etc. We appreciate the crap out of you! Meghan talked about how her social and personal life has changed drastically since the pandemic started and the feelings of guilt when deciding to go out in any capacity. This episode is incredibly important to capture not only the lives of the frontline workers and what they go through but also anyone who is suffering with anxiety during the last year. Be kind to yourself and others, wear a mask and let’s get through this crazy time together.Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? This episode was a very happy surprise as it wasn’t planned at all! It turned out to be a very vulnerable chat that we allowed to take us where our emotions wanted to go (or grow, if you will...). Do you like or fear change? Do you also love the idea of a “fresh start” no matter how small the change? We cover soooo many topics in this episode from expecting disappointment and going a little too hard when wanting to start something new to short attention spans and recognizing the faults in your lifestyle choices. Kelly is contemplating a career change and the question of “what if”, while Brittany is learning to restructure how she pursues her interests. A major takeaway from this episode is you NEVER know who would love to have all the things you currently have - and we see this play out first hand during our chat today. We also talked about how people change - in life, in the way they think and what they believe in, as well as how they behave and view the world. We have been wanting a psychic on this podcast since our first conversation about starting Not Your Therapists. So understandably, we were over the moon to welcome Abbigail on this episode to chat about how the heck you even become a psychic medium. She shared her first psychic experience, how she’s been able to help people and what it feels like on a daily basis. We chat about the differences between being a psychic, a medium and the different channels in which we can connect with sprits and your own intuition. We got to end with a tarot card/psychic reading and we are so happy with the results. As people become more energetically connected, they begin to understand that psychic ability is simply a natural extension of our deep wisdom. Thank you to Brittany’s boyfriend, Jesse for giving us the idea to talk about this. We found quite a difference in responses when we asked the question “where do you draw the line with cheating”. It’s completely anonymous, so unbelievably helpful, easy to navigate and at the tips of your fingers 24/7. The power and importance of TWLOHA is something that we hoped we could capture in this episode. Chad shares his knowledge, we share some of our stories and we learn about what exactly the website and TWLOHA have to offer. Help is possible, help is real and your story matters. This needs to be mainstream, it needs to be talked about & normalized and most of all, it needs to be accepted. The thing we love to hate, or hate to love! This episode we dive deep into the pros and cons of New Years resolutions, why they may be dangerous, how to make them productive and enticing as well as some bad habits we have when making them. Setting goals in general is easy to right off as “it’s not going to happen” but we’ve come up with, what we think, are some fool proof ways to make them worth your while, and stay on track. Are we perfect? NOPE. We are honest with our listeners about our procrastination and routines that we KNOW don’t work for us (so whyyyy do we do them?). What do you want to accomplish in 2021? 2020 was HARD, and we hope this next year is a little easier for everyone. The covid fatigue is real. At the start of our second lockdown, we talk about just how much covid has impacted our daily lives but especially: our social life. This time in our lives is insanely crazy and unimaginable but it’s something we all have in common. How do you choose your bubble in this pandemic? What is the right thing to do? How do you have the awkward conversation with your best friends about new boundaries? Missing loved ones, missed opportunities and the absence of hugs, are all things we never thought would be part of our lives. We go through the times that have made us frustrated and talk about the ways that covid has helped us...because it isn’t ALL bad. Thought the description would give away the big news? Heck no! Tune in to see...we promise you won’t regret it
We took this opportunity to get real deep about relationships with Dre and it was very fulfilling for us. We learned so much about healthy communication, arguments, the relevance of love languages, timelines of relationships, requirements vs requests and so much more. As stated in the last episode, coaching and therapy is healthy and your relationship doesn’t need to be in dire straights to benefit from seeing someone - as a couple OR on your own. Brittany and Kelly shared some personal details about their own relationships throughout this episode and got some insight on what Dre has gone through as well. We hope you can relate! We think it’s safe to say we’ve all been at a point in our lives where we aren’t sure what direction to go, what will fulfill us the most, or what the right thing to do is. What Jaime, and other personal growth coaches do, is listen to where we are in our current lives and help steer us in the direction that will make us the happiest. Being in tune with who you are is step one, setting goals for the sessions and what you want to get out of coaching is step two and being able to be vulnerable and true to yourself is key to get the most out of your sessions with a coach. Do you want to feel lit from within? Feel energetic about life and truly happy but unsure how to get there? Coaching might be for you. It’s important to note that your life doesn’t have to be in shambles to seek the guidance of a coach, it can simply be a healthy addition to your life to hold you accountable and help you reach your goals. No shame in the coach game. Some of the questions we went over are: should you listen to your heart or your head? Is coaching similar to therapy? What does a typical coaching session look like? And so much more. Listen in to learn more from Jaime and her line of work. We sat down with wellness blogger and mental health worker, Kenzie Tayla in today’s episode to talk about all things anxiety and health. She gave tips on how to lessen the effects of a panic attack or general anxiety while it’s happening as well as some preventative strategies to include in your daily life. One thing we learned in this episode is that there is not a cure all for anxiety and mental illness…it’s all about management and consistency. Know your limitations, set boundaries, put yourself first, journal, stay in the most mentally positive space possible to avoid setback and just…be kind to yourself. Loving your body and feeling good enough: topics that we hope most people shouldn’t have to relate to but unfortunately do. We take you on a journey of how we feel about our bodies. Spoiler - it isn’t always positive. We try to be very candid in this episode to allow our listeners to know how we really feel and the steps we are willing to take in order to feel better about our bodies and quit comparing ourselves to others AND to our “old self”. It’s a marathon, not a sprint and we feel that with the right tools, we truly can love ourselves unconditionally. Another topic that is very important and related to body image is the act of feeling good enough; for yourself, for others and in certain situations. We chat about how on the TV show “Love Island”, some of the women tend to blame themselves for the men not wanting a relationship with them and turns out, we’ve felt the same. We took the time to let the conversation flow into our past and current relationship struggles and our inner monologues when referring to our self worth. We also spend some time touching on healthy relationships, arguments and what we think is the proper way to communicate issues with your partner as well as some tips on how to calm yourself when you are mad.Kelly's Etsy Page: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/BohoBelleK?ref=seller-platform-mcnavKelly's Etsy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bohobellek/Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? What is a beautiful, life changing and happy shift in your life, can also cause hormones to go a little wacky and develop into postpartum depression/anxiety and baby blues. What is the difference? What does it feel like? How many people suffer from this and what are the chances you will? We wanted to capture as much as we could with the women in these two episodes and allow them to share their very important stories, pressures, arguments, trials, tribulations and achievements. This is something we NEED to be talking about, it’s important to help each other through these times and normalize mental health in any way we can. These women tackled the topics of miscarriage, counselling, divorce, breastfeeding, self-esteem, medication, ideas of the perfect family and so much more…you do not want to miss it. Being parents and transitioning to that part of your life is a twisting and turning road with no instruction manual; the least we can do is bring awareness to how women feel after giving birth. You are not alone, you are amazing and as women (and men) you birth the freakin’ world!!Supportive Pages: https://instagram.com/_happyasamother?igshid=fdmb8csc3i8v, https://www.instagram.com/parenthoodinmind/?igshid=1o641ldh2nisjPostpartum Support Society: http://postpartum.orgReproductive Mental Heath: https://www.fraserhealth.ca/Service-Directory/Services/maternal-fetal-infant-services/reproductive-mental-health#.X6WcaC0ZM5u, https://www.reproductivementalhealth.caExpectant Father: https://amzn.to/32k6elqHave a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? Seeing as Brittany and Kelly are both obsessed with the results they have gotten from acupuncture it was only fitting to bring a registered acupuncturist onto the podcast to explain the how and why acupuncture has worked so well for us. There are so many different things that acupuncture can treat that you may not even know about! We explore the different ways acupunturists treat certain ailments as well as what exactly Kelly and Brittany get treated during their appointments. We want this episode to spread awareness and educate people about what acupuncture can do. There’s even additional modalities used in Chinese medicine other than the traditional needling that you may be used to seeing in movies. There’s so much more. We ask Meghan, RAc what brought her to acupuncture, how she practices and what her first puncture was like. Is there anything acupuncture cannot treat or contraindications while treating and what does it REALLY feel like? All that and more packed into this episode**Acu photo will be featured in instagram post**Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? Cue Kelly pooping her pants…We were joined today by Lydia, the owner of Ghostly Vancouver Tours to tell us some spooky stories. Not only does she host tours in and around Vancouver herself, but she also seeks out locations for paranormal investigations and has some personal run ins with ghosts outside of work. We chat about energies, hauntings, the feeling of a presence, the most haunted places around Vancouver and Lydia even shares a story about when a ghost walked through her….PARDON US?!?! Lydia explains what Ghostly Vancouver Tours is all about and a few of the stories she shares on the tour as well as some of the other tours she’s done around the world. Why are places haunted? Can you summon ghosts? Listen, Brittany and Kelly respect the heck out of ghosts but neither of us have really had any direct experiences with them; the stories told in this episode were very eye opening and you don’t want to miss it! Spoiler: Kelly made it through, she is alive and well but may have had a hard time going to sleep that night. We love these multi-topic “chit chat” episodes!! It’s a way for us to talk about WHATEVER comes to our brains on the day of recording and that is so fun for us. We start by talking about a topic that seems to be something that a lot of people go through when having conversations with people. The difference between being relatable/making people feel comfortable and making a conversation about yourself. This is something that both of us think of often when people come to us with serious conversations. We don’t want them to feel alone in what they are going through but we also want to be able to listen and allow them to speak without interruption. This is a fine line that is quite detrimental when crossed. Do you have advice for how to approach these types of situations? We’d love to hear it. Next we shift gears and go into UFO sightings, aliens, witches and other spooky things (HELLO HALLOWEEN). Then we end the episode with Kelly’s fertility update, where she is now in the journey to conceive and gives some advice to those who are thinking of having kids in the future.LINKS:Fix Your Period Book: https://amzn.to/3gL8Nl7PCOS Book: https://amzn.to/34dzdaHBody Option Clinic: https://www.bodyoptionclinic.comHave a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? “We don’t give ourselves enough credit for being strong enough to get through the things we’ve been through”We welcome hype women and self love advocate, Lauren Taylor on today's episode and it was something we both desperately needed. Have you ever compared yourself to others, been down on your self for any reason, felt not good enough, not pretty enough or just all around down in the dumps? We’ve all been there but Lauren has picked herself up and learned to love herself completely from the inside out & YOU CAN TOO. This episode was so insightful and really got us thinking about how we view ourselves. Lauren gives amazing tips and tricks on how she’s able to look at herself and her surroundings with positivity and appreciate life for all it has to offer. Emotions are scary, being vulnerable is scary, failure is scary, but all the negativity in your life can be seen through a different lens if we give ourselves the time and energy to be confident, loving and easy on ourselves - we deserve it ya’ll. Whatever gender you identify as - YOU. ARE. ENOUGH (say it louder for the people in the back)…you are worth more than you can imagine and are capable of being the best version of yourself possible. Allow Lauren to take you on a journey of self idolization and give you the tools needed to accept the love you deserve from others around you, but most importantly YOURSELF. We hope your journey is as beautiful as ours. xoFollow Lauren on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/laurenwtaylor/Visit Her Website: https://laurenwtaylor.com/shopHave a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? *TRIGGER WARNING* : PANIC ATTACKS & ANXIETYFirst up, road rage. We all do it - some worse than others (Kelly) - but we thought this episode was a good opportunity to talk about our road trip that we recently took and other instances where we tend to get heated behind the wheel. With that conversation underway it sparked another topic that we are very passionate about and we were happy to be BACK talking about our anxiety. Do you experience travel anxiety? We found we had some similarities (AND a lot of differences) when it came to our travel induced anxiety and decided to share our past and current experiences with it. We discussed panic attacks vs. general anxiety and while it is different for every single person, we do our best to describe how we feel when it does happen. Kelly feels as though hers is getting worse. What used to be a few days of anxious thoughts during her trips, is now anxiety leading up to, during and after. Brittany experienced it in a much different way: hers was based around claustrophobia and the feeling of being stuck. We ripped our anxiety WIDE open in this episode in the hopes to share what we experience, how we deal with it and even the different situations in which it can happen. Lastly, we open the floor to discuss postpartum depression and what kind of medications may be available to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding and going through PPD as well as some OCD tendencies that Kelly may (or may not) have. We end the episode by sharing a hilarious e-mail we received from a very special listener.Clinic Apps:https://www.betterhelp.com/https://lp.talkspace.com/https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/health/wellness/g31916335/best-therapy-apps/Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? “Everything is right with you, your body is just doing things to protect you and keep you safe…you have to allow the energy that was released in the moment of threat to finish its cycle in the body. Your body needs to release and process”This is the episode we have been waiting for. An opportunity to sit down with a real therapist. Brandys Evans has a very powerful story and an amazing ability to explain why we feel the way that we do. Her passion for her work truly comes through during our chat. The theme of today’s episode was being able to let go of the past, work through childhood development & trauma, fear of disappointment, insecurities and self-value in order to live a happier, more fulfilling life. We were able to translate all of those things to make us feel stronger as individuals and not rely on others to make us happy. As mentioned in previous episodes, Kelly struggles with making sense of her relationship with her dad and Brittany talked about her tendencies to get angry at the people closest to her. We were able to unpack that with Brandys and really dig into how to re wire ourselves and give us the ability to move on and be better. Come on this journey of change with us and PLEASE check out this phenomenal woman. We have already made further appointments with her personally. Thank you all for being on this wild ride with us, we love being open and honest with you.Love: B+KFollow Brandys on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brandysevans/Website/Blog: https://linktr.ee/brandysHave a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi? This is an episode you don’t want to miss. Our co-host today has her degree in molecular biology and biochemistry (say what!!!!!!). That’s right, we have an actual scientist on today’s episode to debunk all things beauty and lifestyle in laymen’s terms. This episode is both educational and simply put…REALLY COOL. Ever wonder if castor oil actually works, why and how we get bladder/yeast infections or if putting mayonnaise & coke in your hair helps make it silky smooth? We asked so many questions in today’s episode and Luisa came through with the best answers to all the questions for us. Working with a lab doing research by day and having a youtube channel by night, this is a women of many talents and we are so honoured she joined us today. Make sure you check her out and let us know if you have any questions for Luisa.Follow Weezasworld On:Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4xi34RH9k9DdoCezeyBtMQInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/weezasworld/Check out The Ordinary for affordable skin care: https://theordinary.deciem.com/Have a story, want to be featured in one of our episodes, or just want to say Hi?
