Within four days, she went from golfing, playing tennis, and working vigorously as the Superintendent of a local high school district to being a paraplegic (T-3 complete).Six months after her diagnosis she was back at work, using a wheelchair fulltime. Eighteen months later she decided to retire to have enough energy to enjoy her family (four children and 13 grandchildren) and to rebuild an active lifestyle. She competed in wheelchair tennis and then pursued table tennis with her eyes on the Paralympics. Currently she is training to compete in the 2028 LA Paralympics in wheelchair table tennis, saying, “My quest is to be the oldest Paralympian in history. Junior Achievement of North Florida recently honored local leaders who have positively influenced business and education in Jacksonville. One honoree stood out because of what he gives to the community: Evan Satterwhite.

David Nackashi, a local artist, shares details about his Cowford Cows murals. You may have seen them, visible under the Acosta Bridge, along the Northbank Riverwalk. The cows are a nod to Jacksonville's history, when the city was originally known as "Cow's Ford" for a transit route across the St. Johns River. It's also a bit of artistic whimsy, drawing a new wave of appreciation as the city's riverfront renovations bring new life to the area.

The Riverfront Music Garden, adjacent to the Center for Performing Arts, was officially opened yesterday. Mayor Deegan dedicated the park to Jacksonville's musical legacy, recognizing artists like Ray Charles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tim McGraw, and others, including local favorite JJ Grey who was in attendance.
