This episode a great deep dive into asset management with arguably the premier asset management system on the market today. I've been working with Cartegraph since 2010 and have been very impressed with their software and vision for constant improvement. Join me as I welcome Jon Kremer, self proclaimed Product CEO for the Cartegraph Asset Management System at OpenGov, and we talk about how clients are using Cartegraph today, how it has evolved over the decades, and where it is going in the future. Enjoy!https://opengov.com/products/asset-management/AI Generated Episode Description:Every public works professional eventually confronts the challenge of asset management. How do you track thousands of infrastructure elements, maintain them efficiently, and plan for their eventual replacement? It's a question that combines technology, human behavior, and financial planning in ways that can make or break a department's effectiveness.John Kramer, who leads product management for OpenGov's Enterprise Asset Management system, formerly known as, takes us through the fascinating evolution of asset management systems. From his early days implementing solutions for municipalities across America to his current role designing the future of these platforms, Kramer shares insights that apply to organizations of every size. The conversation explores how asset management has transformed from paper-based workflows to cloud systems accessible from smartphones. What's remarkable is how the fundamentals remain consistent—you're still tracking the same basic information about signs, water mains, and park equipment—while the methods for collecting and using that data have revolutionized daily operations. As Kramer explains, success depends on a "three-legged stool" of products, people, and processes working together. We dive into implementation strategies that work, discussing how starting with smaller, focused rollouts often proves more effective than attempting organization-wide adoption. The most successful departments find champions who naturally gravitate to the technology and then leverage their enthusiasm to spread adoption organically. The conversation then turns to exciting future developments: connected systems that integrate asset data with financial planning, Internet of Things sensors providing real-time monitoring, and artificial intelligence applications that can identify assets from photographs and optimize work scheduling.Whether you're considering your first asset management implementation or looking to improve an existing system, this episode offers practical wisdom from decades of experience across hundreds of municipalities. THIS IS (NOT) THE END. We were hoping to do this one right before the release of Saw XI. Unfortunately, numerous obstacles have made it appear to be game over for one of our favorite horror franchise (though recent reports say otherwise), thus we decided to record this The Saw franchise has had its ups and downs, with the low points being more recent and arguably more plentiful, but the tenth film in the franchise shot new life and appreciation into John Kramer's arm. Is it as good as we remember? Come join Brian and Alec to find out as they revisit one of their favorite recent horror films -- SAW X!

We revisit the grungy bathroom where a franchise was born! The original Saw led to a slew of nasty imitators bearing the "torture porn" moniker, but you'd be surprised to learn that James Wan's directorial debut is rather sanitary (and a little Hitchcock-y). Let's meet John Kramer for the first time again and decide whether he's the devious folk hero the sequels make him out to be or just a nutty old man who enjoys a good Rube Goldberg machine.

We also play a returning segment, Guess that Protagonist. Stay tuned for the next episode where we conclude our spooky theme!
Welcome back to EXTRAVAGANSAW! This week, we are joined by Dave Geister from the Monster Movie Happy Hour! We finally break down SAW X with only some slight deviations.
Well, it looks like we have officially reached the end of our time with John Kramer and Co. (for now). There's been some highs and a lot of very low lows, but we made it through. That's right, this week we're wrapping up our Saw retrospective with Saw X, the latest installment in the franchise. Released in October 2023, this movie picks up shortly after the events of the original Saw (2004) and follows John Kramer as he makes one final attempt to cure his cancer. This attempt leads him to Mexico for an experimental treatment that's guaranteed to cure even the most advanced forms of cancer. However, John soon finds out this was a scam used to prey upon society's most desperate people and decides to punish the scammers in a way only Jigsaw can. It was going to happen eventually and that day is today as we are diving into 2004's SAW. John Kramer's 1st outing where he spends the entire movie asleep on a bathroom floor and becomes a horror icon in the process. James Wan's big break and the birth in popularity of a whole new subgenre. Question is do we love it or not? --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yourunpodcast/message
It's been five whole movies since John Kramer/Jigsaw died; however, the franchise continues to find a way to work him back into the franchise--even if it didn't make sense, as was the case with Jigsaw. Well, Darren Lynn Bousmann is back to explore the Saw universe outside the John Kramer circle. Finally, someone has accepted the fact that John Kramer is dead and that the Saw franchise needs to find a new direction. Spiral: From the Book of Saw is a 2021 horror movie that decides to change the formula with help from comedian and horror fan Chris Rock. Spiral follows a detective who takes on the task of finding a serial killer copying in infamous Jigsaw killings. DID YOU THINK IT WAS OVER? It's been seven years since the last installment of our Saw retrospective, and we're back from the dead (just like John Kramer) to review Jigsaw. Jigsaw is a 2017 horror film released as the eighth installment of the Saw franchise. Ten years after the death of John Kramer, someone has decided to restart his games of terror. It has to be a copycat. Right? It's been a while since a new Saw movie came out, and even longer since one came out that was pretty well received and had Jigsaw as the primary character. This is a prequel in which we found out a lot about how Jigsaw became Jigsaw, and the motivations behind why. We are talking about Saw X! "Hoping for a miraculous cure, John Kramer travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure, only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer uses deranged and ingenious traps to turn the tables on the con artists." If you're a horror fan and have maybe jumped off the Saw bandwagon, I think you should definitely consider watching this entry in the series. It won't disappoint and it may actually reinvigorate. Okay, for real this time, the story of Saw III has reached its conclusion…three movies later. Mark Hoffman continues the legacy of John Kramer by putting the insurance agent who wronged him through a bloody game of choice. Meanwhile, a nosey reporter tries to dig deeper into Kramer's past by getting close to Jill Tuck. And a mother and son wait in fear while a barrel of acid clings to the wall. Everyone is connected…somehow. Can you tell I'm tired? Because what was that? This week, we're reviewing the sixth installment of the Saw franchise directed by Kevin Greutert and starring Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell, Mark Rolston, Peter Outerbridge, and Shawnee Smith. It's finally over. We've reached the end. Of Jeff's story. After a pretty lackluster start to a new trilogy, Saw V picks up literally seconds after the end of its predecessor, leaving Strahm trapped with the corpse of John Kramer. That doesn't last long as he escapes his first trap and begins a cat-and-mouse game with Detective Mark Hoffman--Jigsaw's chosen successor. Meanwhile, a ragtag team finds themselves trapped by Jigsaw, and it's a race against the clock to figure out how to get out of this twisted escape room. Saw IV is the beginning of a new era in the franchise. John Kramer is Dead. Amanda is dead. Leigh Whannel is no longer writing. And Mark Hoffman is here. What do you mean who? Mark Hoffman. The cop who was in like 30 seconds of the last movie. Turns out the twist of IV is that a character that was barely established in the previous film is the true successor of Jigsaw. Kind of. Like Amanda, Mark isn't very good at his job--in my humblest of opinions. At least he's hot though. We also look deeper into John Kramer and what made him the way he was. And let's just say he had a really rough year. Listen, buddy, we all have rough years but that doesn't mean we can all just go out and start “testing” “people” on their “will” “to live”. We can't say the man didn't warn us it would get bloody. Unfortunately, our plunge into America's favorite amputation-based horror franchise has brought us to this BOP n' A Tragedy commentary for Saw 7, AKA Saw 3D, AKA Saw 33⅓: The Final Insult. Opening with Jigsaw saying the name "Brad" and going downhill from there, this attempt to squeeze a few more drops of blood out of the Hoffman saga killed the franchise as we knew it, with poorly utilized 3D, a threadbare script, and a style that screams "the director only participated under threat of lawsuit." Is there anything to love about the last dance of Mark and Jill, or was too much lost in the attempt to blend two very different movies together in one hastily-constructed finale? Was finally pulling the pin on Cary Elwes worth it? Is The Final Chapter a glass coffin constructed by its own producers? Will a flashback ever reveal why John Kramer wears is hat that way? Like a good neighbor, cherish your life! Terrible jingle for an insurance company, but perfect for our purposes, as tonight we've gathered to milk John Kramer for every last ounce of gratitude his corpse has to offer, with this BOP n' A Movie Commentary for SAW 6! At the end of the 'Jigsaw's Last Will Trilogy' (we're naming just now), our story finds Hoffman's world crashing down around him as the Billy-slain return from the dead, janitors battle their corporate overlords for lung supremacy, and the final convoluted pieces of John's plan fall into place. Listen as we talk Tobin Bell playing the proud papa, the shift in quality from the detective-half to the game-portion, the ascension of go-to Saw director Kevin Greutert, the even higher ascension of Lionsgate's producers, the reality show whose grand prize was sharing the screen with Costas Mandylore, and Amanda's revenge from beyond the grave. Sort of. After the credits. It's a blast, and not just the kind that makes you lose a limb. Discussion points include: what makes a critically acclaimed Saw film, the return of director Kevin Greutert, John Kramer's doodling.
Let's play a game one more time, Dumpster Dwellers! Connor McGraw joins us this week for a special Dumpster trio reunion to talk about the ninth sequel, requel, smeequel in the John Kramer legacy. Nestling itself between SAW and SAW II, SAW X acts as an interstitial that weaves a questionable anti-hero storyline, showing a different side of John Kramer that we have never seen. The real lesson from this game is that if something is too good to be true, it probably is! Pack up your tool bags and trap blueprints because we're headed to Mexico for a miracle cure with SAW X!
Happy Halloween! Join us for a discussion on the biggest Halloween movies of the year (Five Nights at Freddy’s / Saw X) with our favorite horror podcasters, The Homily of Horrors.

Andy and Philip bring Saw-toberfest to a close by passing judgement on the newest film in the franchise, Saw X, and finally putting the man behind the pig mask himself, John Kramer, to the test. With an impressive inventory of traps leftover from all the people we have freed, surely we can find a game befitting the petty and vengeful Jigsaw and his angry horde of acolytes.
Today on Wussy Movie Club, we continue our October Horror Games season with a review and take a look into the newly released Saw X, and the Saw film series. Excluding of course Jigsaw and Spiral, because those films are not important. Hoping for a miraculous cure, John Kramer travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure, only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer uses deranged and ingenious traps to turn the tables on the con artists. It's been four movies since the pompous “not-a-murderer” murderer, John Kramer, left this world worse than he found it. Yet, somehow we have more Jigsaws than ever! So, us Judys have our hands tied (up) with all the Jigsaw judging that needs to be done. This week is gonna be like pulling teeth or ripping out tongues as Andy and Philip laser cut our way through Saw 3D: The Final Chapter, Jigsaw, and Spiral: From the Book of Saw.
Director Kevin Greutert returns to the franchise that birthed his feature-length career with Saw X, a precise and brutal affair that knows exactly what its audience wants. Tobin Bell returns as John Kramer and Shawnee Smith returns as Amanda Young in this punch-in-the-arm midquel, but is it enough to revitalize the series?
This week we're reviewing the latest Saw film in theaters, "Saw X"

This week we are back with a not so final chapter of Saw 3D. We are here to find out how the story of John Kramer, Amanda, and John's large adult son Detective Hoffman wraps up once and for all. We enter the 3rd Dimension to do so and we get even more of cops being stupid the movie, more gore, and the first public display of Jigsaw's talents with one of the most ludicrous and over the top traps the franchise has ever gifted us. We also discuss the Intriguing premise of John punishing someone for lying about being in one of his traps while lamenting with the fact that this great idea wasn't presented all that well. all this in so much more with perhaps the most over the top in goofiest entry of the franchise to date with special guest Sarah Stubbs from Final Girls Feast and Geeks Who Eat. Minor spoilers for SAW X between 1:40:30 & 1:43:39 where Mike asks a question that literally breaks Ari's brain in real time. Check out Ariel's article “The Hypocrisy of Jigsaw” here
