Body horror has always been the unruly cousin at the horror family reunion—the one everyone side‑eyes but can't stop gossiping about later. David Cronenberg practically built the house this cousin lives in, wallpapered it with viscera, and handed out the keys to generations of filmmakers who gleefully keep the tradition alive. Enter TOGETHER (2025), a film that doesn't just dip a toe into the subgenre—it cannonballs in, using the human body as both battleground and blunt instrument.According to IMDb, the story follows Tim and Millie, a couple who decide that moving to the country will fix their relationship—because that always works out well in horror movies. Naturally, instead of fresh air and farmers' markets, they stumble into an “unnatural force” that threatens not only their love but their very flesh. Nothing says couples therapy like eldritch corruption nibbling at the edges of your anatomy.Penned and directed by Michael Shanks, TOGETHER stars real‑life spouses Dave Franco and Alison Brie, proving that nothing tests a marriage quite like acting out supernatural bodily doom together. Damon Herriman joins the fun, rounding out a cast that critics have been applauding with gusto. With glowing reviews rolling in, your co‑hosts dive into the film's squirm‑inducing delights—joined by award‑winning actor Dan Lench, who brings his own flair to the dissection.
This week, Josh and Jade review the body horror film, Together (2025). The movie is written and directed by Michael Shanks in his feature-length directorial debut. It stars Dave Franco and Alison Brie as a couple who move to the countryside, where they encounter a mysterious force that brings them closer than ever before. Is it trash or is it treasure? Find out inside the episode.

Second Chance Cinema returns with MC and Spro digging into Unfinished Business (2015), the not-quite-forgotten Vince Vaughn comedy that somehow slipped between studio cracks and audience expectations. Was it really as bad as the critics said? 10 F***ing %?! Or was it a case of a film that was mismarketed, with more heart than anyone remembers? Join us as we revisit the business trip from hell and uncover the surprisingly thoughtful story buried under corporate jargon, European chaos, and Dave Franco being the, obviously, more likable Franco brother. This is the kind of movie Second Chance Cinema was made for: overlooked, misunderstood, and maybe… actually pretty good? #SecondChanceCinema #SCC #MCandSpro #UnfinishedBusiness #VinceVaughn #DaveFranco #TomWilkinson #KenScott #MoviePodcast #FilmDiscussion #ForgottenFilms #ComedyMovies #RewatchPodcast #CultClassics #FilmCommunity #MovieFans #PodbeanPodcasts #PodcastLife #FilmCriticism #GiveItASecondChance #HiddenGems #CinemaRevisited
In our first 2026 Off the Record we boldly feature Star Trek Academy the brand new feature from Paramount and Alex Kurtzman.Stewart Rips into the new series starring Holly Hunter as Captain Nahla Ake and Sandro Rosta who becomes the new chancellor to the recently resurrected Star Fleet Academy. Sandro the other main character plays a renegade who was upset with Starfleet's nefarious ways. As far as flops go this one beams you right into the dead of space, with just 90k views on their free premiere on YouTube.Rasto then reviews his TV series Archive 81 which is a fairly recent 2022 adaptation of various horror like series such as Rosemary's Baby and other copycats in the last few decades. Cancelled after just 1 season Rasto believes it was wrapped up nicely. Rebecca Sonnenshine developed this series and the main character is played by Mamoudou Athie.Ken leaps into action with his Clean Shaven pick from 1993 written and directed by Lodge Kerrigan and starring Peter Greene. It takes a serious look at mental illness and the consequences of letting people run free with such disabilities. With our lesser picks out of the way we move on to Stewart's better pick Together from 2025, which is a film based on the Greek Mythology of the better half, where people originally had 2 heads, 4 arms, and four legs. In this horror we see what would happen if two people were split, and were to suddenly start to meld together to become one. Directed by Michael Shanks, and starring Dave Franco with Alison Brie who are a real life couple. This film managed to get itself into a copyright dispute with another production company.Rasto then gives us his take on the 1966 French film Au hasard Balthazar. The film is unique because it follows around a donkey from the perspective of said animal, and how it interacts with the various humans and owners in it's life. Directed by Robert Bresson and starring Anne Wiazemsky who has a unique acting ability. Ken finally wraps up his 2021 pick Old Henry. This western seems to be unique in a way, and Ken enjoyed it. Directed and written by Potsy Ponciroli and starring Tim Blake Nelson. Stewart also has a quick follow-up on the Toxic Avenger Reboot. This is a public episode. We're kicking off our slate of episodes looking back at the best horror films of 2025 with a double-feature conversation about two films which each took relationships to a horrific level. TOGETHER, written and directed by Michael Shanks and starring real-life married couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie, explores elements of codependency and insecurities within relationships by serving up a healthy dose of body horror in a literal relational union. Meanwhile, COMPANION, written and directed by Drew Hancock and starring Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid, tackles issues of objectification, power dynamics, and control within relationships by filtering a thriller-vibe narrative through a distinctly technological lens. Both films tackle issues of wholeness, self-determination, autonomy, and commitment and we invited longtime FoGger and Ghoul Scout Vera Goudie to discuss all of the ways the horror in these films reflects the risks -- and sometimes the rewards -- of complicated relationship dynamics. Also featuring a Patron-only segment where the three of us briefly share our thoughts on the landmark series finale of STRANGER THINGS, this is an open and thoughtful conversation that we really hope you enjoy.Patron Only Segment: Takes on the Stranger Things Series Finale7:51 - TOGETHER + COMPANIONSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Sean and Amanda begin the show by discussing the imminent sale of Warner Brothers Discovery, consider the potential implications of a merger with one of Paramount, Comcast, or Netflix, and debate which scenario is the most likely outcome (1:22). Then, they cover the new Colleen Hoover adaptation ‘Regretting You' starring Allison Williams and Dave Franco, which they found absolutely baffling (17:28). Next, they have an extensive conversation around Joachim Trier's ‘Sentimental Value,' starring Renate Reinsve and Stellan Skarsgard, where they explore why some people are connecting to the film so strongly, while for others it doesn't seem to resonate (47:15). Finally, Trier joins the show to explain how much of himself is actually mapped onto Skarsgard's character, how being a good listener and observant of the world around you translates to strong characterization, and the story of shooting in a house that was down the street he grew up on (1:33:54). Sean and Amanda are joined by Van Lathan to cover two new releases that they collectively had mixed feelings about. Before diving in, though, they theorize about why the fall movie slate has been such a huge disappointment both commercially and critically and what it represents for the industry at large going forward (0:34). Then, they break down Edgar Wright's new action film, ‘The Running Man,' starring Glen Powell, which they found deeply messy but also full of impressively staged action scenes (28:01). Next, they unpack the new magician legacy sequel ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don't,' starring Jesse Eisenberg and Dave Franco. They explain their personal relationship with the original films and why Rosamund Pike was born to play an evil diamond heiress villain, and they hypothesize about what its potential box office chances are (59:23). Finally, Edgar Wright joins Sean to discuss the evolving landscape of studio filmmaking, how he constructs an elaborate action set piece, and the amazing story about how Powell was cast for the lead part (1:15:55). The Cinematic Schematic is back with another special “on the road” edition to review Now You See Me, Now You Don't. It's been 12 years since the social justice magician troupe, the Four Horsemen (played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco), made their big-screen debut in 2013. The “Ocean's Eleven with magicians” heist thriller may have been a relative dud with critics, but that didn't stop it from being a box office hit. The first film grossed $351 million worldwide and spawned a sequel, Now You See Me 2, which also performed similarly in 2016. The world has changed since 2016. There's been a global pandemic, two new presidencies, and TikTok and AI have changed the world of social media. Does the franchise still have the magic to dazzle audiences, or has the world moved on to new tricks? Hosts Caleb Masters and Laron Chapman each offer their quick reviews, providing a verdict to end each segment. Listen to decide whether this is worth your time. About Now You See Me, Now You Don't According to IMDB, About Now You See Me, Now You Don't is described as: A diamond heist reunites retired Horsemen illusionists with new performers […] The post Bonus Review: Now You See Me, Now You Don't – The Cinematic Schematic appeared first on The Cinematropolis.

The gang's all here, and this week they cover IT: Welcome to Derry, Nobody Wants This Season 2, A return to A House of Dynamite, Regretting You, and The Perfect Neighbor. We open the show jumping right into the hottest new series, IT: Welcome to Derry. Kevin and Andrew have both watched the first episode, and Kevin's seen the second. Both guys have enjoyed the show so far, and Kevin keeps the second episode talk pretty spoiler-free. But the show itself is BRUTAL. It is like Stranger Things dialed up to (pun intended) Eleven. If horror is your thing, this is an absolute must-watch. Taking a break from the absolute massacre that is the opening of IT, Lauren talks about the latest season of Nobody Wants This on Netflix. It stars Adam Brody and Kristen Bell as an on-again, off-again couple dealing with the strains of a potential interfaith relationship. That makes it sound very dramatic, but it really is a lot of fun. The leads are great, but a lot of credit goes to the supporting cast, too. It's a well-rounded show that does risk getting tropey if they don't get creative with the 3rd season. That being said, this one (and the first one) is worth a watch. After some talk about things happy and fun, Andrew takes us back to last week's episode for a minute to talk about A House of Dynamite. His timeline was hit by several people who absolutely hated the ending, so the guys had to clear the air as to what this film was truly about. Remember, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. And now that it's been a week, the guys can be a little more spoilery. So if you haven't watched it yet, and you should, maybe pause the show, watch it, then come back. Next up, Lauren talks about the new film, Regretting You. It stars Mason Thames, McKenna Grace, Allison Williams, and Dave Franco. It's not an entirely unformulaic romance film, but it does have its share of little twists and turns that keep it interesting. It may not blow you away, but if it's your type of film, you're likely to really enjoy it. Kevin closes out the show, reluctantly, by quickly discussing the new Netflix documentary, The Perfect Neighbor. It's an interesting film, as all the footage is either from interrogation rooms or, more often, body cam footage. It's the tragic story of a racially charged shooting in Florida and how it ultimately ties into the Stand Your Ground laws. It's fascinating and heartbreaking, but an interesting story worth watching. Facebook: @apncpodcast Twitter: @APNCPodcast Instagram: AllPopNoCulture

We're back and diving into Crescent City chapters 21–30, and honestly… we might've just connected half the SJM universe. From Luna's Horn to the 8-pointed star, we're unpacking every theory — including whether Luna might actually be Deanna (yes, we went there). It's officially Christmas season in the L.A.M.E. Book Club household, Melissa's officially on baby watch, and somehow we still managed to spiral into Rhun's genetics, horn lore, and starborn chaos. It's fine. Everything's fine. Stick around for the after-party on Patreon where we break down the Regretting You movie, talk about Dave Franco's crying (or lack thereof), and announce our Fourth Wing coloring book giveaway. Day 30 – Episode 180: Together (2025)On Day 30 of The Conner & Smith Show's 31 Days of Halloween, I'm flying solo to talk about Together (2025) — starring real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie. I really wanted to like this one, especially with its promising setup and the duo's natural chemistry, but what starts as a tense psychological thriller quickly veers into something closer to a satire on codependency. The film toys with horror aesthetics — eerie silences, blurred identities, emotional gaslighting — but ultimately lands more as a dark relationship dramedy than a true horror entry. It's an interesting experiment, but one that left me wishing for a bit more bite beneath the meta commentary.Support The Conner & Smith Show on Patreon here:

But before diving in, he and Amanda are joined by Brian Raftery to discuss his narrative series, Mission Accomplished, that will run on the feed throughout the rest of August (2:02). The limited series examines the making of 12 great 2000s movies and chronicles how Hollywood and America changed during the Bush years. Then, Sean shares five things he loved about Zach Cregger's ‘Weapons,' starring Julia Garner and Josh Brolin, and makes a syllabus for the movie, one of his favorites of the year (24:33). Finally, Sean is joined by Cregger to unpack his sophomore horror feature film and share how the significant increase in resources impacted his process, how his life and career changed following the success of ‘Barbarian,' and why he knew he was up to the task of directing this incredibly ambitious project (46:41).
