Hi friends! This week, we are finishing up Nicholas Cage November with the small, independent film Pig.It's one crazy premise - Nicholas Cage's character Robin Feld lives alone in the woods of the Pacific Northwest with only his truffle hunting pig for companionship. They collect truffles and sell them to Amir who in turn sells them to high end restaurants in Portland. One day his beloved pig is stolen and he is dead set on finding out what happened to his friend. What could have turned into a John Wick or Nobody revenge film, instead is a thoughtful examination of loss, family, finding your place in the world, and knowing who you are. What are your thoughts on the film? When Camp Century was decommissioned in 1967, its infrastructure and waste were abandoned under the assumption they would be forever entombed beneath the colossal sheet of ice. But climate change has warmed the Arctic more than any other region on Earth, and parts of the Greenland Ice Sheet are melting faster than snow can accumulate. What will happen in the coming decades if the melting ice exposes the biological, chemical, and radioactive waste left behind at Camp Century? As part of our Staff Picks series while Third Pod is on break, University of Colorado Boulder glaciologist Mike MacFerrin recounts Camp Century's intriguing history and its role in the Cold War. Horror Movies To Watch. Horror Movie Reactions To A Swedish Horror Movie and Its Scary Movie American Remake.  Let The Right One In 2008 And Let Me In 2010.Going to try to talk about this horrible event that happened on a film set without getting into the politics of movie making or opinions on firearms...but sometimes movie news is as horrible as real life news.Alec Baldwin accidentally discharges live rounds on Rust film set, killing the director of photography, Halyna Hutchins and wounding director, Joel Souza. The investigation has turned from Baldwin who was rehearsing a scene with the gun to the irresponsible assistant director, Dave Hall and the inexperienced armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.Some interesting details:Baldwin did not check the gun.The AD said the weapon was a :”cold gun”, meaning he checked it and it had no live rounds, but as it turns out he did not check it.  Also, dude has complaints against him for violating safety on set before. The armorer who is employed to make sure the guns are safe has very little experience being the person employed to do so.  She worked on the Nick Cage western that is coming out but not as the supervisor supposedly.  She was on a podcast and talked about her fear over lacking experience handling guns. And now she is in charge of handling guns on the Alec Baldwn movie,It also came out that members of the camera crew were walking off the Rust set due to their opinions that the movie was not following protocols and working conditions were not up to standards. Now as an actor handed a gun, he should have checked. Baldwin has been consoling the widow and his son since it happened. As a producer, entertainment lawyers are saying what I was thinking, as a producer Baldwin could be found liable both criminally and civilly. I read one article that said they predict he could be charged with involuntary manslaughter. Now I am trying to get the facts straight and up to date as more and more comes out, but this whole thing seems like a combo of mistakes and negligence.  Sources I used to piece this together are for example... Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Reuters, Yahoo News, and SmartNews. The star of Werewolves Within, Sam Richardson has joined the cast of Hocus Pocus 2, which has started filming.SPOILER WARNING: What We Do In The Shadows may have just killed a fan favorite character AND fans are in disbelief.First looks of this horror-comedy called Slayers has Thomas Jane as a grizzled vampire killer helping a group of social media stars survive the night from a vampire played by Malin Ackerman.Tonight's Movies Are Swedish horror movie Let The Right One In 2008  followed by the American remake from 2010. Oskar is a young boy bullied at school until his new vampire neighbor girl shows up and makes a bloody mess of the bullies and commits a series of bloody murders with the help of an infatuated man-child servant. She would probably eat Oskar too if she didn't have a crush on him as her humanity lingers on.Stick around for Dangerous Facts about the horror novel this movie is based on, Why Elias Koteas really wanted to be in this movie remake,  Fan Service from the Air Force, and Staff Picks this week including Titane. Switching Gears Next Week Because We Will Be Entering Our Feel Good Season Which Kicks Off With A Female Arm Wrestling Movie Called Golden Arm Not To Be Confused With The Martial Arts Movie Of The Same Name.. John Has Already Said He Likes This More Than Over The Top.

While there's no evidence backing the existence of these creatures, either in present day or at any point in the past, there must be a reason why such legends were created in the first place. In most cases, the legend in grounded in fact. While Third Pod is on break, during this Halloween season we're bringing you four stories from scientists who know a little something about the real-life animals that inspired these legendary creatures. It's Alec's turn to feature two of his favorite episodes in the summer archives series. He interviewed Daryl Hall in December 2019 on his home turf: Daryl's House, Hall's restaurant, and live music venue located about 90 minutes north of New York City. Hall & Oates is the biggest-selling vocal duo in history, with hits like "Maneater," "Rich Girl," "You Make My Dreams Come True," and countless others. Hall talks about his teen years in suburban Pennsylvania singing doo-wop on the streets with his friends -- a far cry from the rock-star life he led 15 years later. Danny Bennett is the son and manager of legendary crooner Tony Bennett, and Alec spoke with him in 2013. This summer, Tony Bennett celebrated his 95th birthday with two sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall, performing duets with Lady Gaga. Danny Bennett has been working with his father for several decades and played a key role in introducing Tony Bennett to a multi-generational audience through appearances on SNL and MTV and the duets albums. Danny Bennett describes his job as managing a legacy as much as a career.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

Two of the most popular shows from the Here's The Thing archives are Alec's conversations with Radiohead's Thom Yorke, and R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe. These are fascinating, ground-breaking artists who influenced each other. Thom Yorke started Radiohead in 1985 when he was just a teenager. With each of the group's nine studio albums, Radiohead evolved its sound and, at times, pushed the music industry. In this 2013 interview, Thom Yorke talks with Alec about working with longtime collaborators, fatherhood, and his fame. Michael Stipe was a founding member of R.E.M., a band that practically defined indy rock for much of the 80s and 90s. R.E.M. broke up in 2011 and, in this conversation from 2016, Michael Stipe talks to Alec about what getting time back has meant to his art, politics, and ability to read, listen, and enjoy the world.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com

As part of our summer archives series, we revisit Alec's interview with two rock legends, Patti Smith and Peter Frampton. Alec's conversation with Patti Smith took place before a live audience at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, New Jersey, in December 2016. She tells Alec she was never looking for fame. Her love of poetry, art, and a desire to “do something great” motivated her to move to New York when she was 20. She chronicled her formative friendship with Robert Mapplethorpe in her best-selling memoir, Just Kids. She talks to Alec about fame, friendship, and motherhood. Peter Frampton's double album, Frampton Comes Alive! is one of the best-selling live albums of all time, and it completely changed his life. Frampton started playing guitar before he was eight years old. He talked to Alec about his musical roots in England, playing in bands like The Preachers and The Herd, and how, at 14, the Rolling Stones' Bill Wyman became his mentor.  Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com
