It's been a long minute since we've published a mix—that isn't to say that we have spent the last year in hibernation, however. Indeed, we spent most of 2020 plying our trade at a toasty, over-the-bridge establishment called 'The Foxtrot', playing warming selections for a thirsty, seated crowd. When playing gigs at the ol' Fox, and of a similar dynamic in recent time, we've been promoting more slow-mo, lo-fi and hip-hop-oriented sounds—often steering clear of a repetitive 4x4 kick drum—regularly flipping over to a cool, relatively unknown B-side and exercising the depths of our collections in the process. This is one example that we really quite enjoyed, recorded live, opening the night at The Foxtrot, and we thought it best to share here. Sneakers in the Dryer - Laundry List 6 - Slow Down Dirty Disco Deux Mixed on December 17, 2019 by Sneakers in the Dryer Shortly before the solstice, with winter about to begin, this mix slows things down. Nine and half years after the first ever Sneakers in the Dryer mix - Slow Down Dirty Disco, comes part Deux. The likes of Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee and Thatmanmonkz inspired this mix, as Sneakers has recently made visits to ESL to hear the grooved down disco funk you rarely find anywhere else in DC these days. This one also finishes with an Easter Egg. Over the summer, Sneakers discussed "Cola" with @DJjouez and noted that there is a final verse that is only in the Elderbrook mix (the vocalist). That verse erases the controversy - the story ends with our protagonist stumbling home drunk, singing her favorite song. The revelation was that we're pretty sure her song is Single Ladies
