210816 (1:52am) Day 419.5 of #AliveWithArt. This day has a "0.5" because actually... This was during a period where I didn't track the little things I did in that day! I think if I'm not mistaken, since starting the whole #AliveWithArt thing - I never missed a day. Ever. Until this period - because I got sick and barely had any strength. My records (records??) show that Day 419 was 210806, then Day 420 was 210828 already. I think this was the time that I genuinely felt that something truly needed to change, if I wanted to move forward and not get stuck in a cycle. Here were my keypoints: - came from another sickness - 1 whole week !!! (sidenote: i was so sick i binge watched series so quickly and just spent my days in Duolingo lessons every single freaking day!!) - getting sick now made me realize i suck at taking care of myself?? - NTS self care so u dont burn out - idk what to do w my life anw; i dont have work ;_; - focused on recovering, trying to set a direction - The Secret Life of Walter Mitty OST makes me feel better - esp Stay Alive by Jose Gonzalez makes me feel anchored - i only live for BTS content and merch - i cant spend endlessly and not have work !! (pls be financially responsible) - it's become a pattern of getting sick and having to care for myself - was impatient but was also ok being sick - aside from fixing bills, i had no idea what to do with my life - trying not to be hard on myself especially given all i've been thru!! - don't compare urself to other people's timelines bc it's unfair to yourself!!! - 2nd time getting sick in 2021 (1st was the lockdown anniversary/before my birthday) - does everything in life need a key takeaway?? - ... still, key takeaway: take care of myself more This was from my previously unemployed era and honestly? Some points still resonate, but I'm happy that some points I know I've also grown in!! :) Like these days I'm a bit less impatient with myself when I'm sick hehe. He uses a range of sources and mediums including illustration and memes to share his ideas and the science with others.  If there is one theme for this episode, it's about how we can challenge our existing mental models to rethink our relationship with nature.  For some of us that might mean exploring other cultural worldviews where nature might exist as a familial relationship, rather than one of just resource and recreation.  For others it might be simply considering the privilege of access and participation in spaces where our cultural makeup is the dominant one.  And for all of us, it is a chance to embrace the example of biodiversity in nature and the more-than-human world as an example of the diversity in the outdoor community we want to create.  Thanks so much to Jose for taking time to chat. Every great story starts with hope, but that won't get us through to the end -we have to have something else, something critical, something that will push us through each day and pull us into the future.This past Sunday, at Storyline's Gathering, we continued to look at the power of stories and a crucial element we all need for our lives to be a great one!The band performed songs by Jon Legend, Sara Bareilles, The Avett Brothers, and Jose Gonzalez.

A preadolescent boy is caught in Castro's Revolution and struggles with trading a Cuban Huck Finn childhood for the price of liberty after fleeing with his family to New Jersey via Mejico. The boy reminisces about his roots in the barrio. He chronicles spirited narratives that range from stealing a rowboat and being nearly capsized by a Russian tanker, to befriending an old fisherman who tells him a haunting tale, to being bullied by a neighborhood thug, to cockfights gone bad, and to being nearly mauled by a wild boar. He witnesses the plight of captives taken near his home during the Bay of Pigs invasion, and tries to navigate the complexities of growing up in a machismo, homophobic culture. The U.S. Blockade of Cuba during the Missile Crisis unexpectedly disrupts the family's egress. They endure the next several months in isolation. As a new expatriate, the boy lands in Mejico. He eventually arrives at freedom in blue-collar, New Jersey neighborhood. He endures the many ordeals of being an immigrant in an at-times intolerant culture and struggles to adjust to American life. But he perseveres. He scratches his way from a Green Card to American citizen, then to becoming a highly respected professor of medicine at two major medical schools in the United States. He eventually returns to the island in search of his roots, of the mango tree and of the boyhood for which he so dearly longed. He doesn't succeed altogether. But he doesn't lose hope.

Devendra Banhart, Phil Elverum, Jenny Hval and Bedouine discuss eating on tour, how art is intimacy exposed, and what can be learned from terrible shows. Devendra Banhart, was born in Texas and raised between Venezuela and California, where he attended the San Francisco Art Institute. After dropping out in 2000, he started moving around different cities, experimenting with songwriting and busking as he went. When he released his second album, Oh Me Oh My, in 2002 ,he signed to XL Recordings, and has since released nine albums and collaborated with artists like Anohni, Beck and The Strokes' Fabrizio Moretti. His new album Flying Wig has just come out and was recorded in a Topanga cabin once owned by Neil Young. He's also a visual artist, and has had pieces featured in galleries including San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art, MOCA and Brussels' Centre for Fine Arts. Phil Elverum is a singer-songwriter, producer and visual artist from Washington state. Best known for his musical projects The Microphones and Mount Eerie, he almost exclusively uses analogue recording equipment to make music and tends to compose as he records. His output spans more than 40 albums. Norwegian singer-songwriter, producer and novelist Jenny Hval's avant-garde music has a heavy focus on sexuality and politics. Her debut EP Cigars was released in 2006 and was nominated for a Spellemannprisen (the Nowegian Grammys). Since then, she has released music under her own name, Rocket to the Sky and collaboratively with Laura Jean as Lost Girls. Bedouine is a Syrian-American folk musician whose sound is beautifully reminiscent of 1960s North America. Born in Aleppo, Syria, she grew up between Saudi Arabia and Texas before settling in Savannah to study sound design. Since then, she's released three studio albums and toured with the likes of Fleet Foxes, Michael Kiwanuka and Jose Gonzalez.

We have finally come to the end of the road for Raymond Reddington and Task Force 836! It has been a long decade of catching criminals, guessing at Raymond's Identity but in the end does any of it matter if you were just trying to live the best life you possibly could?  Support the Show! Be sure to #FillTheFedora on Patreon. Case Profile for Raymond Reddington Hour 1 of the finale sees up playing the catch me if you can cat and mouse we expected coming out of last week's episode. Red is trying to flee the city but boat, by plane, by fire truck.  Yes Red does it once again and burns down yet another house so that he can jump a fire truck and get past the blockade setup by Hudson and Nixon.  He manages to make his way to a boat which he sinks in favor of a smaller boat to get him to Weecha, who then gets him to a plane for his trip to Spain.  Along the way Red also pays a visit to Paula Glenn's mom and picks up the skull of Islero the bull from the bath house.  Dembe gets arrested for tipping off Red at the airfield and in transport Red saves the day but not before Hudson shoots Dembe in the neck and Red shoots Hudson in the head.     Don't worry Dembe is fine in hour two, however he is fired from the FBI but no charges will be pressed against him.  Red now in Spain is tailed by Ressler thanks to quick thinking on Siya's part. Thank god she spent a whole two episodes with him to notice Islero the Bull skull missing from the bath house.  Red is clearly sick after transfusing blood to Dembe and his illness has returned.  He makes a call to Agnes to check on her to which Agnes says to red, "You're are such a mom!" Re replies, "I guess I can't help it." Confirmation once again that Red is Katarina.  Red then walks the countryside as he contemplates death, Ressler gets closer, but a bull much like Islero gets even closer first and kills Red. Ressler lands in the field to find Reddington's mangled body and he places Red's hat on his chest.   Music For Raymond Reddington A laundry list of music for you this week on the series finale. First we hear "Pendulum" from Pearl Jam - toward the end of hour 1  as dembe is transported for questioning after his arrest. Then as the shootout goes down we hear "Stay Alive" by Jose Gonzalez. When Red is sleeping in Spain there is a great track that we were not able to catch. "Familiar" by Nils Frahm plays while Reddington is walking to the market for some melons. When Dembe gives his final speech about what Reddington means to him as Reddington walks the countryside we hear "Knocking on Heavens Door" by RAIGN. Later, as he series moves into the final minutes, we see Red walking by a tree and climing a stone wall to the tune of "Tree" by TMBM.
