Send us a textDr. Dominique Johnson's passion for community transformation isn't just theoretical—it's deeply personal and remarkably effective. From his roots in East Macon, Georgia to founding the Urban Community Empowerment Organization (Urban CEO), Johnson has developed a powerful framework for community-led change that's producing measurable results. The Urban CEO focuses on five strategic pillars: education, economic empowerment, leadership development, civic engagement, and wellness—each addressing critical needs within urban communities. The Urban Leadership Academy, a seven-month program that has graduated over 100 community leaders over nine years.Johnson's recent focus on mental health reveals his responsiveness to emerging community needs. He points to the alarming statistic that less than 3% of psychologists nationally are Black men, creating significant barriers to culturally competent care. Through initiatives like an annual Mental Health Symposium, he's working to destigmatize mental health issues while increasing access to resources.Data plays a crucial role in Johnson's strategy for community transformation. His motto "dollars follow data" encapsulates the practical importance of census participation and data collection. As he powerfully states, "that number has a name"—reminding us that behind every statistic is a human story.Drawing from historical social movements and his faith tradition, Johnson aims to "equip people so the community itself can build itself." This philosophy of empowered self-determination creates sustainable change built on the unique strengths already present in every community.BioDr. Dominique Johnson is a trailblazing leader whose passion for community transformation has positioned him as a catalyst for change. On today's show, it's the final day to enter the Transfer Portal before it closes for good this spring. We've got the latest as Kalen DeBoer and Alabama add a safety from Charlotte in Kameron Howard, while they lose early enrollee DB Peyton Woodyard. Arkansas loses veteran running back Dominique Johnson, while Ole Miss loses WR Zakhari Franklin, and Tennessee loses DB Cristian Conyer. We also touch on the big story from ESPN that there are deep discussions relating to a legal settlement that could give revenue sharing to student athletes. It comes on the heels of an NIL antitrust class action lawsuit, and if the NCAA decides to settle, there could be a reality where schools & conferences are sharing revenue with student athletes in the very near future, with some projecting top end revenue sharing around $20 million per school. And we hit on the Transfer Portal latest with men's basketball as John Calipari and Arkansas add Tennessee big man Jonas Aidoo, Alabama closes in on Kentucky big man Ugonna Onyenso, Nate Oats gets forward Grant Nelson back for another season, and Mark Pope and Kentucky add Wake Forest's Andrew Carr. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Monopoly GO!Get in the game and join your friends. Chris Lee, Blake Lovell, and Blayne Gilmer preview the 2022 season for Arkansas football, including predictions, players to watch, expectations on offense and defense, and much more. The Arkansas Razorbacks have one of the most intriguing schedules in all of college football in 2022. The non-conference schedule for Sam Pittman's squad likely looked a lot different when this schedule was created years ago. Now, Cincinnati is coming off a College Football Playoff appearance, BYU is a solid program soon to join the Big 12, and Liberty has been revived under Hugh Freeze. Luckily the Razorbacks return a lot of firepower on offense and have added key transfers on defense. KJ Jefferson is both one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC and one of the more underrated players. Jefferson has complete command of Kendall Briles's offense and is looking to prove critics wrong about possible struggles in the passing game with Treylon Burks and Tyson Morris gone. Jefferson will have new targets in through the air in Jaden Haselwood and Matt Landers. Haselwood comes from Oklahoma after the departure of Lincoln Riley to USC. Landers was formerly coached by Pittman at UGA and most recently achieved great success at Toledo. Both are big-bodied receivers and will be complemented greatly by pass-catching Tight End Trey Knox. The running game will loosen things up in the secondary for that passing game and create one-on-one matchups. Rocket Sanders, Dominique Johnson, and AJ Green combine to create one of the most formidable running back corps in the conference and the nation. Additions of Drew Sanders, Landon Jackson, Dwight Mcgothern, and Latavious Brini go a long way in helping Barry Odum's defense fortify itself from a year ago.

How Good Will The Arkansas Razorbacks Be In 2022, Bengals Will Have The NFL's Best Offense, Eagles Have A Lot To Prove, Can Brian Daboll Help Save Daniel Jones Career With The Giants

Arkansas was one of the biggest stories in College Football in 2021, in year two under Sam Pittman the Razorbacks finished with a 9-4 record and an Outback Bowl victory against Penn State. Going into the 2022 College Football season the Arkansas Football program looks to replicate the success they had last year with KJ Jefferson returning at QB the Razorbacks' season will rest heavily on his shoulders along with RB's Raheim Sanders and Dominique Johnson and Oklahoma transfer Jadon Hassellwood looks to fill the void left at WR with the departure of Treylon Burks. JT Sports gives his thoughts on how good Arkansas will be this season and how they'll fare in a loaded SEC West. The Cincinnati Bengals offense was one of the best in the NFL last season despite having the worse offensive line in the league. However, this year, the Bengals revamped their offensive line bringing in Center Ted Karras, Offensive Guard Alex Cappa, and Offensive Tackle La'el Collins to go along with Jonah Williams and Carmen Jackson. The Bengals going into the 2022 NFL season will have one of the best offensive lines in the game and will give Joe Burrow more time to throw and help him potentially put up record-setting numbers according to JT Sports and they could potentially have the NFL's best offense. The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the NFL's most improved teams going into the upcoming season, trading for star WR AJ Brown to pair up with DeVonta Smith and drafting DT Jordan Davis along with LB Nakobe Dean. The Eagles also signed CB James Bradberry and pass rusher Hassan Reddick. With these moves, many people have high expectations for the Eagles but JT Sports explains why he feels people should pump the breaks on Philadelphia as HC Nick Sirianni and QB Jalen Hurts have a lot to prove this season. Daniel Jones has one last opportunity to show the New York Giants that he has what takes to be their franchise QB, but he's struggled to stay healthy and has gotten worse every season since his rookie year. Can new HC Brian Daboll help save Daniel Jones career? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jtsports/support

A good friend of mine Dominique Johnson came on the podcast to talk about his unique journey from unknown recruit in Detroit to entering his 10th year playing professionally. I wanted to bring him on as a guest to tell his story to inspire players who feel like they are overlooked or under the radar and are looking to play basketball professionally. Dom discusses his setbacks to junior college to his career at Azusa Pacific and how he's overcome the odds of playing in the G-League and high levels in Europe coming from an NAIA school..

Dumb Nerds: Comedians Talking About Smart Topics They're Too Dumb For

Romantic Comedies? Do you love them or hate them? Guest Dominique Johnson loves them! From the predictable formula to the fights that reveal to characters their one-and-only true soulmate, rom coms to Dom are the best! Host Cassi Jerkins is cynical. She unveils how unrealistic these characters are and how they are problematic to our expectations of love. (Not to mention this whole conversation is very heteronormative.) Dom and Cassi get into romantic comedies like “When Harry Met Sally”, “Love Actually”, “Annie Hall”, “La La Land” and Dom’s favorite, “Serendipity”. Dom also shares his own real life meet cute with a girl reading a book in a bar and how when he sees an opportunity to turn a moment in real life into a scene from a romantic comedy, he takes it! (He’s done the boom box outside a girl’s house move before.) Meanwhile, Cassi discards the notion of soulmates and ponders if it’s even possible for people to have healthy romantic relationships. Comedian Dominique Johnson comes on to talk about LISTENING TO NEW MUSIC. Through Facebook, the hosts realized that Dom had an interesting set of opinions on music: he's both very opinionated but also very open. Meaning: he'll listen to new music, even music that's very outside of his tastes. Yet he doesn't blindly accept artists just because they are widely viewed as good. It turns out there's a reason Dom is so open to music. We get into his childhood, moving from town to town -- black neighborhoods to white ones, places where his friends liked nu metal to places where they liked jazz. And we play a lot of stuff Dom likes, including perhaps most surprisingly John Mayer. Will talks about the George Saunders novel Lincoln in the Bardo and Anthony updates us on his increasingly problematic dependence on the iPhone game Clash Royale.
