The hosts of "the queue now," Mark Bland and Jason Cole, marked their show's 15th anniversary, with Bland announcing the retirement of his traditional intro for a more free-flowing approach. The main topic of discussion quickly became "Liberation Day," which coincided with the implementation of new tariffs by Donald Trump. The hosts expressed significant concern about the economic fallout, drawing parallels to the historically damaging Smoot-Hawley Act. They highlighted the negative reaction in the stock market and the potential for job losses in sectors like automaking. The tariffs were portrayed as illogical and harmful to US allies, potentially driving them towards alternative partnerships, such as with China. The conversation also touched on Elon Musk's waning influence after an unsuccessful political investment and his reported upcoming departure from Trump's administration. A significant segment focused on Laura Loomer, who allegedly presented Trump with a list of disloyal government officials, leading to the firing of several individuals based on loyalty. The hosts deemed this a dangerous precedent. The latter part of the show featured an interview with Dr. Julie Scott, the current vice president running for re-election to the Wentzville School Board. Dr. Scott advocated for the importance of local elections, the Propel proposition to fund schools, and a focus on students' needs over political agendas. She voiced her frustrations with the current board's functionality and discussed the negative campaigning she had experienced. Bland and Cole strongly endorsed Dr. Scott, encouraging listeners in the Wentzville district to vote for her. The hosts identified themselves as "Midwestern moderate liberals".

While Missouri lawmakers approved $577-million in funding last year to pave the way for I-44 expansion in Springfield, Joplin and Rolla, the state lacks the billions of dollars it needs to expand heavily-traveled I-44 from Joplin to St. Louis. Missouri lawmakers approved $2.8 billion in funding in 2023 to rebuild and expand I-70 from Wentzville to Blue Springs. House Majority Floor Leader Alex Riley (R-Springfield) told 939 the Eagle News in January that it would take about $10-billion to expand and rebuild I-44 statewide. Leader Riley says rebuilding and expanding I-44 would be more expensive due to numerous hills and more bridges than I-70. U.S. Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Springfield), who serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Missouri." Congressman Burlison tells listeners that I-44 must be expanded, adding that it's his top priority. He describes it as a bottlebeck and is also concerned about safety issues. Seven Republicans, two Democrats and Vienna Libertarian nominee Jordan Rowden hope to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth) in November. One of the seven Republicans, State Rep. Justin Hicks (R-Lake St. Louis), has suspended his campaign. Former Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee chair Kurt Schaefer (R-Columbia) is one of the seven Republicans running, and he joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri." Senator Schaefer tells listeners that he likes the unity he's seeing on television at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and hopes it sticks. He's focusing on the southern border and the economy as he campaigns. Schaefer's top primary rival is former State Sen. Bob Onder (R-Lake St. Louis), who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Onder's theme has been he'll make DC listen, but Schaefer says no one listened to Onder when he served in the Missouri Senate in Jefferson City. Senator Schaefer also emphasizes the importance of oversight on Capitol Hill, noting the critical role he played in the Moberly Mamtek investigation at the Statehouse. Former Mamtek chief executive officer Bruce Cole was paroled from prison in 2018. Cole pleaded guilty in September 2014 to one count of theft and two counts of securities fraud, and he was sentenced to seven years in state prison. Prosecutors say Cole scammed investors out of millions of dollars involving a failed artificial sweetener plant in Moberly. Former Senator Schaefer blasted Cole this morning on "Wake Up", and he also criticized then-Governor Jay Nixon (D) for what he calls a lack of due diligence involving Mamtek. The seven GOP primary candidates on the August ballot are Schaefer, former Sen. Onder, Rep. Hicks (his name is still on the ballot), Arnie Dienoff of O'Fallon, Chad Bicknell of Arnold, Kyle Bone of DeSoto and Bruce Bowman of Jefferson City. The two Democrats running are Wentzville's Bethany Mann and Andrew Daly of Fulton. The sprawling district includes Columbia south of Broadway, Ashland, Jefferson City, Boonville, Fulton, California, Wentzville and O'Fallon:

Seven Republicans, two Democrats and Libertarian nominee Jordan Rowden of Vienna are running to replace retiring third district U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth) in November. Former State Sen. Bob Onder (R) has released a new television ad, promoting former President Donald Trump's endorsement. Former Senator Onder joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri", telling listeners that he is the "MAGA America first candidate." Senator Onder tells listeners that he is the frontrunner in the race, and says he'll work to implement former President Trump's agenda on Capitol Hill, if they're both elected. Inflation, the southern border, illegal immigration and energy are top priorities for Mr. Onder, who also addressed questions about his residency on-air. Former Senator Onder also addressed critics who say he didn't pay his taxes. Former Senator Onder notes he's a physician, small business owner and has real estate, emphasizing he pays a lot in taxes. He tells listeners that he was a month late in paying one personal property tax bill. The other six August GOP primary candidates are Arnie Dienoff of O'Fallon, Chad Bicknell of Arnold, Kyle Bone of DeSoto, former State Sen. Kurt Schaefer (R-Columbia), State Rep. Mike Carter, a municipal judge from Wentzville, said he filed to be Missouri's next Secretary of State because of its electability. “I identified the Secretary of State's office is having the least amount of competition, the least amount of dollars dedicated to it, and the largest opening for me to repeat what I did in the past and just ascend right to the position,” Carter said. However, the day Carter filed, two other Republicans joined the race the same day, bringing the number of Republican candidates running for Secretary of State up to eight. Along with Carter, other Republican candidates for the race include House Speaker Dean Plocher, state Senators Mary Elizabeth Coleman and Denny Hoskins, Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller, state Rep. Adam Schwadron, St. Louis County resident Jamie Corley and St. Louis resident Valentine Gomez. House Rep. Barbara Phifer is the most well-known Democrat candidate who filed.
