Do you ever find yourself asking yourself quietly (or loudly) ‘is this it?. ‘Is this everything I was put on this Earth to experience?'. Or ‘when I just get X, Y or Z I'll be happier?' Alternatively, do you find yourself thinking you have most of the things you should have to be happy, but something is missing? Maybe you keep partying, on repeat, or relying on drugs or alcohol to get through the week? Do you want more but don't know where to go next? If the answer is yes, you're not alone. Sobriety didn't revolutionize Dr. Elisa's life as she hoped it might. In fact, it was the moment when Vince Vaughn fired her from her position as his best-in-the-business, high-flying manager at United Talent Agency that the rest of her life truly began.  Next, the Universe guided her on a journey to becoming a Doctor in Depth Psychology with a focus on Neuroscience and Trauma, and then onto founding the first-ever Recovery Management Agency.Today, Louise & Dr. Elisa discuss: The feeling of 'I'll be happy when I just get there.' The concepts of trauma, chronic trauma, and their connection to our physical body. How the limbic system can't communicate with you in words; it can only communicate in feelings and energy. The concept of 'wearing a mask' in day-to-day life and losing ourselves in this identity. How we have a 'crisis of meaning' and what to do next What it means to have a spiritual practice (and how to start). How rejection is always redirection, plus How to help someone who is navigating addiction Louise also shares her own personal stories around her own recent rejection, redirection and soul whispers- as well as her own journey with asking frequently ‘is this it? -----⭐ Want more bonus episodes, Home Truths, Voice Notes from Lu and access to our community area The House? We know that trauma and addiction affect the brain and body in so many ways. But when Dr. Elisa Hallerman overcame addiction and began working with others in recovery, she realized there was something big missing in the conversation about trauma and addiction: how it affects the soul.  This inspired her to create a new paradigm for talking about sobriety called “Soulbriety,” and it's changing the game for how people heal.  In this episode, Dr. Hallerman shares all about what the soul is and how we can heal it from trauma, how she worked through her pain (and how you can too) and how to navigate a “dark night of the soul” to bring greater healing and wisdom into our lives.  She also talks about the different types of trauma, how they affect the body and brain and what trauma healing modalities are most effective for different situations. This episode is PACKED with practical information about healing trauma and addiction along with beautiful explanations of how our souls work and the journey each soul takes to grow in wisdom and maturity. Welcome to the final episode of SPIRIT & RECOVERY, our 5-part podcast series exploring powerful healing modalities, philosophies and soulful practices that are designed to support recovery - on all levels - from trauma, addiction, harmful behaviors and more. The relationship between sobriety and a belief in a higher power (or the soul) can vary greatly from person to person, yet in my experience, there is no sobriety without Spirit. So, what does a soulful approach to sobriety look like?  In this episode we're joined by Dr. Elisa Hallerman, founder of Recovery Management Agency, and the author of “Soulbriety: Heal Your Trauma, Overcome Addiction and Reconnect with Your Soul”. At the age of 43, at the height of her wildly successful career as a top Hollywood agent, Dr. Hallerman left the entertainment world to step into her true life purpose and went back to school to get her Ph.D. in somatic depth psychology - the study of bringing unconscious psychological material into the light of awareness. Request access now Firesidechat.com/daniellapark @drelisahallerman Dr. Hallerman is an attorney and member of the New York State Bar Association. She found success in the entertainment industry as partner and head of the talent department at United Talent Agency, later becoming the top talent agent and partner at William Morris Endeavor - representing the best of Hollywood's elite. Dr. Hallermen launched Recovery Management Agency (RMA) in 2011, and it is the first-ever recovery management program of its kind. RMA is a consulting company providing clients with a team of managers to help them navigate their journey toward healing and recovery. Having been sober for years, Dr. Hallerman realized her lifestyle was making her sick - though she had freed her addiction to substances, she had not freed her soul. After years of trauma and substance abuse, she had only covered up the wounds, rather than truly healing them from within. So, in her 40s, Elisa went back to school, taking classes in drug and alcohol counseling at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2010. She now holds a master's and doctorate from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Depth Psychology and Somatic Studies, focusing on neuroscience and trauma. Dr. Hallerman is also a drug and alcohol counselor, and certified in yogic science for addictive behavior. In addition, she is a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine. Dr. Elisa Hallerman's first novel SOULBRIETY: Heal Your Trauma, Overcome Addiction, and Reconnect with Your Soul, is a prescriptive memoir on overcoming drug and alcohol addiction, PTSD and chronic trauma. SOULBRIETY explores how to recognize adverse childhood experiences and trauma, which if unhealed - are often at the core of most adult addiction and alcoholism - and touches on timely topics such as the traumatic events facing us every day: from a pandemic, mass shootings, political injustices, war, and terrorism.   Thanks so much for listening and write us anytime info@doingitsober.com xox Daniella Park & Chris Nell Check out my recovery store for the biggest variety of medallions, accessories, clothing, hats and much more @ doingitsober.com

One of the things I don't often talk about on the podcast is my constant fascination and observation about the ways we run away from ourselves. We live in a society that glorifies numbing out as a way of dealing with discomfort and I see that more and more the business world seems to address stress, anxiety and crisis with substance. I know personally I have had those days where wine becomes the go-to as a way to destress, but in reality it makes things worse. I also have seen people abstain but still struggle with finding greater satisfaction. Today on the Mindset First Podcast I want to break through all this and redefine success through Soulbriety. Dr. Elisa Hallerman is the author of this incredible book that I recently listened to and read that has made a big impact on how I face the obstacles to success - whether it's in my personal or business life. I felt compelled to share her with you because every day I see so many of us dealing with trauma - and brush it aside as nothing. Today we talk about why it's so important to heal our trauma so we can return to our soul and that place where we get to experience true success. I'm beyond thrilled for you to listen.

Dr. Elisa Hallerman is another gracious guest whose story mirrors some of my own. She's the author of Soulbriety: A Plan to Heal Your Trauma, Overcome Addiction, and Reconnect with Your Soul (released just last month!) and the founder of her own mental health modality by the same name.In this episode, we go deep on the complex interwoven concepts of sobriety and addiction recovery, discussing her own journey with addiction, beginning with drinking at seventeen and progressing to drugs, specifically cocaine.Experiencing relational trauma as a child stemming from her mother's own addiction issues and her father's lack of presence – she then went to California, where she suffered the loss of a close friend to suicide, triggering the onset of anxiety, OCD, and panic attacks. Addiction is never as simple as saying “yes” or “no” – we talk about the underlying issues such as trauma, predisposition, and environment that impact addiction and a person's ability to overcome.Soulbriety is all about factoring in your soul when it comes to healing. Our very being, our essence, is so much more than skin deep; bringing our depth of personality and experience into these painful journeys is the only way we can ever get honest with their root causes and begin to heal them.Resources:Read: Soulbriety: A Plan to Heal Your Trauma, Overcome Addiction, and Reconnect with Your SoulWebsite: https://drhallerman.comInstagram: @drelisahallermanRead: The Big Silence: A Daughter's Memoir of Mental Illness and Healing Follow Karena Dawn on Instagram: @karenadawnFollow The Big Silence on Instagram: @The.Big.SilenceSubscribe: The Big Silence YouTube ChannelTherapy For All: Resources for those in needDonate to The Big Silence thebigsilence.com/donate to be a part of the movement to break the silence and make noise with us!“The Big Silence” theme song written and performed by James Nicholas Kinney.Executive Handyman, Bobby Goldstein. The Big Silence is produced by Crate Media.
